Finally ! Now onto Dark Souls 3 !

I'm glad I finished this game.

At first I completely hated it because it felt like a downgrade compared to Dark Souls. I debated deleting it and moving on to Dark Souls 3 but I decided to stick with it and see. Man what a blast. Sir Alonne on his own was worth all the trouble.

I played Dark Souls 2 with Push Ups

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 10:52 AM PDT

Since three months I've played Dark Souls 2 with Push Ups. That means, that everytime I died, I made 10 Push Ups. If I died with zero souls, I made 20 Push Ups. I'm now in my best shape ever. Today I'll start with Dark Souls 3. Try it at home and thank me later.

After playing all the souls games for a minimum of 100 hours up to 400 hours each, here is my ranking and opinion on each and every one of them except demon's souls cuz I haven't played it:

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:05 AM PDT

    5) Sekiro, great first playthrough with a major change in combat that I quite liked but there isn't any build variety or vast changes to NG+ which takes away from replayability a lot.

    4) Dark Souls 2, the middle child and black sheep of the trilogy isn't criticized this much for no reason, the game has a lot of flaws and did a lot of stuff wrong but it still did a lot right like NG+, build variety, fashion souls, best PvP by far and more, also this game will always have a place in my heart because of it being my first souls experience.

    3) BloodBorne, this game has nothing wrong with it, the other 2 games are just a bit better, I extremely adore the combat and this is coming from someone who plays pretty defensively in the dark souls games and well bloodborne doesn't really encourage that much yet I still love it, every weapon feels a whole lot different than the other and there is a lot of builds to choose from, add that to the fact that the atmosphere and bosses are amazing and you got yourself a masterpiece.

    2) Dark Souls 3, this game feels like the perfect child of dark souls and bloodborne, it takes the best from both sides and mixes it into one beautiful game, the build variety, freedom of playstyles, great number of weapons with their weapon arts, and the best boss quality over all makes this game perfect to end the dark souls series with.

    1) Dark Souls, this won't come as a surprise to most people, because the first game in the trilogy is basically the full package, it has an amazing story that dark souls 2 &3 would later copy, the smooth and tactical combat we all know and love, the variety in areas and their amazing interconnectiveness, the amazing bosses the game offers and my personal favorite dlc, and the large amount of player freedom the game gives you makes dark souls my favorite souls game and actually my favorite overall game of all time.

And always remember to praise the sun [T]/

Some Helpful Gear for New Players. Might be a fit spoilery

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 05:14 AM PDT

Now, DS2 has quite a bit of gear that goes untouched but can serve a great purpose, a good bit of it can be found in the first few areas so I just want to point out a few that can be found in the forest of the fallen giants area without being too specific and which uses it could have for your build

    • The morning star
      • the morning star is quite a handy dandy tool early on. For 15 str and 7 dex you can one hand this badboi which deals blunt/strike damage which coincidentally is one of the more helpful attack types in the game, it's a bit hidden but it's right in Majula, keep a look out and you'll net yourself this handy dandy boi
    • The Fire infused Longsword
      • The longsword is a stable of Dark souls, handy for almost any build and I find it to be especially lethal in DS2. Now the fire infused version can be found near the Cardinal Tower bonfire in a bit of a hidden area, keep a watchful eye for that some baddies off the beaten path and you'll find it in a chest. The fire infusion in ds2 is very helpful since it benefits all casting types due to the way it scales so it's a must have for builds that want to go heavy on the casting.
    • The Battle Axe
      • The battle axe is one of my favorite weapons in ds2 due to its solid damage, great moveset and ease of access. Once you find a way to your first blacksmith, he'll be able to sell you the weapon. The battle axe is a quality weapon that leans towards strength
    • The Mace
      • Now the cleric class starts out with the mace, one of my favorite weapons in the game, it's light, packs a mean punch and is just an all-round better version of the morning star. If you didn't start out as the cleric you can find the mace in the same place as the battle axe.
The mace is a strength builds best friend early on and can easily last throughout the entire game
    • The Bastard Sword
      • The bastard sword is quite an underrated little beast in my opinion. For 20 str and 11 dex you can handily beat most enemies into submission with this thing. You can find it either as a drop from enemies in the forest of fallen giants that use big swords OR you can find it in a locked area as a treasure that's accessible only after beating the first boss of the game. I remember using a bastard sword for almost half a playthrough since it's just that solid.
It's a quality weapon and scales with both str and dex equally
    • The Halberd
      • The Halberd is another quality weapon that when upgraded leans a bit more towards strength that can last you a good long while when you get used to it. Halberds in DS2 have a sweet spot mechanic so you should always try and use the bladed part of the halberd to hit your enemies since not doing so does way less damage. After getting used to halberds though, you'll find that they're quite strong and for a weapon found in the forest of fallen giants you could do a whole lot worse.
You'll find the halberd in a bit of a hidden spot close to the first boss of the forest of the fallen giants, keep a look out and you'll have quite a handy little fellow with you.
20 str, 14 dex to wield
    • The Club
      • Now the club is a fun little weapon, it has the battle axe 1 handed moveset and the two handed moveset of the mace. It deals blunt damage, which is always handy and scales only with strength. You can buy it from a merchant found in the forest of the fallen giants.
You need 12 str and 3 dex for it so it's very easy to put it on almost any build.
    • The Rapier
      • Now any ds2 veteran knows how much of a beast the humble rapier can be. for 5 strength and 12 dex you'll have access to some of the best counter damage in the game (poke enemies when they're trying to hit you). It doesn't have a power attack but instead has a parry (can be fun when you're using a greatshield). If you want to steamroll the game, try out the rapier but do be mindful of its less than average durability. You can find it at the same shop as the Mace and Battle Axe.
dexterity/quality weapon, scales B with dex and D with strength

These are just some weapons I like to use personally if you have any other that you'd like to add to the list, please do so

Explain your most interesting playthroughs in Dark Souls 2.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 07:11 AM PDT

Demon's Souls (2009) - When I finally got an Elgato capture card, I decided to make a cringy custom story playthrough for my YouTube channel. I had a really cool character design so it was really fun recording and It was a very reliable build which lead me to discover how incredible the halberd was. Years later I revisited the profile and it was really buggy for some reason. The load would start out as a new character just being a floating head that couldn't attack and I ultimately lost the profile. This is one of the reasons why I prefer physical copies over digital.

Dark Souls - I once had a friend that was a huge control freak however he did introduce PvP to me since I wasn't competitive and we had an awesome time finding our build preferences. I had this one build that had the Great Scythe which was at the time one the most popular weapons in PvP. I invaded my (Giant Dad Cringe Cosplay) friend with some other guy without noticing and demolished them. Let's just say we're not friends anymore.

Dark Souls 2 - I'm not a fan of cosplay builds but at the time I haven't seen a good Kratos build also at the same time I didn't watch YouTube videos relating to SoulsBlood because for some reason they make me cringe. This build was super effective in PvP and very entertaining to use while also being extremely powerful against boss fights. I may even make a similar build but without the Kratos concept and no intention to PvP because I've cut that out of my gaming life.

Bloodborne - I will never forget my Cannon Troll build. No one at the time had a concept like I did especially the location and once I perfected it I was unstoppable. I couldn't believe the footage I obtained during this period which led to four YouTube videos. I'm almost 100% sure it would still work but I would need a lower level build.

Dark Souls 3 - My Holy Touch PvP build was a very interesting and successful experiment. My unique take on weapon switching for the time was very surprising for online players however it on occasions would stun lock too effectively for simple kills so it was a fragile build honor wise. It was another awesome and effective PvP build basically which I remember greatly for it's manipulating nature towards unexpecting online players.

Sekiro - Trying the game again after two years and discovering the deflection rythm. This is when I realized how simplistic the game was compared to the others which eventually lead to obtaining the platinum. I learned to love Sekiro and even though I still find fighting some bosses like Dark Souls, I will forever be humbled by a game proving me wrong.
