    The Pursuer

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 01:37 AM PDT

Pursuer appreciation post: I started playing DS2:SotFS about a week ago and have encountered the Pursuer in 3 different places already! By now we have a Obi-Wan Kenobi - Darth Maul type of dynamic going on. Whenever I see him, I feel like: "Hello there, old friend.....let's become enemies one last time!".

    What are some fun weapons?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 10:07 AM PDT

Recently i started a new game+ on my main character and ive been using the red twinblade weapon, tho i wanted to try other weapons to see what is fun on the PvE exclusively, only preference is weapons that are not too slow

Regular DS2 vs Scholar of the first sin?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 07:16 AM PDT

What's the difference? Should I just buy SotFS or the regular version? Or should I buy both to get the full experience?

I think the Bearer of the curse broke the curse.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 09:48 AM PDT

[SPOILER] For this theory I will be focusing on the ending and the quests of the npc's.

First of all, what is the undead curse? It is some sort of plauge like curse that affects everyone and everything as soon as the fire is starting to fade. Meaning if the fire is fading everyone will become undead once they died. The only way out of this is to hollow.

Why do I think that the curse was broken in the first place? Well this is due to the DS3 questline of Greirat, of the undead settlement. At the end of his questline he dies. There is no hollowing, this is more than just suspicious since he was born and grew up in a settlement of undead. Why does he just die? An undead should be resurected at the bonfire.

My answer to that question is that, somehow, he isn't undead. And considering that the fire is fading he should at the very least become undead. But he doesn't. This never happened before in any dark souls questline (if sucessfully done). Most characters hollow and are therefore lost forever.

So the fading of the fire no longer brings the curse with it. But why? Well, in Dark Souls 2 there are 3 endings. One where the Bearer of the curse takes the throne and becomes the next monarch of Drangleic. One where they go with Aldia and search for a way outside of the eternal circle of dark and light. And the last one where the Bearer of the curse takes 4 crowns of 4 strong kings and brings them to the memory of King Vendrik.

In the last one the crowns gain a incredible power. They protect you from hollowing and therefore the negativ affects of the undead curse. It should somehow be possible to take this further and use this power to weaken or even break the curse.

But a simple warrior could never achive this. But thankfully they were not alone. Aldia, scholar of the first sin, was a genious beyond all others. He achived what no one else could ever dream of doing. He achived true immortality. With the power of the crowns, the genious of Aldia and a undead ready to take on armies it was only a question of time until the curse was broken and forever dissapeared. Enabeling new generations to die with their sanity.

Sadly people who we're already cursed like Andre the Smith could not escape the curse. Those who bear the darksign couldn't be saved anymore.

Which version of the game to buy?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 02:23 PM PDT

Steam is having their Summer sale, and have Scholar of the First Sin on sale, which is supposed to have all the DLC included. I'm wary of buying it though because some have complained about the different item and enemy locations. I would prefer to play a vanilla experience as possible, but the engine improvements in SOTFS have me intrigued. Any help would be appreciated.
