Just started a new playthrough, it warms my heart to see that the old tradition of killing yourself in the hallway between things betwixt and majula is still alive

    I did it!!

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 09:57 AM PST

I know it's nothing too special and I'm guessing everyone here has done it but I just completed SOTFS for the first time. I picked this game up back in 2016 cause I loved the sound of it. I tried to play it and hollowed out before reaching Cardinal Tower.

Tried again and hollowed out after Last Giant as I got invaded by some twink who one hit me with a sorcery then invaded me again and one hit me again before I could pick up my souls (think I lost about 15k).

Tried again and hollowed after being unable to beat Pursuer no matter how much I tried.

Then mid lockdown last year I decided to try again and that no matter what I wouldn't go hollow.

It's taken me a long time and I came close to quitting so many times but I've done it and now I'm just thinking back to 2016 to me sitting there dying over and over thinking the game was impossible when I didn't even know lock on was a thing. This is a feeling like no other and just thought I'd share with you all. For those skeletons who haven't finished, don't give up, you can do this and praise the sun!!

Closed helmets good, ugly blue face bad

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:55 PM PST

Alright bois, I just got the king's armor and I gotta admit it looks awesome but I don't like the crown that much, probably because of my blue ugly face and pink hair (character randomizer is broken), so is there any good looking none DLC closed helmets that I can wear, of course they need to look good with the rest of the armor set and I'll prefer if they were black just to match up with the king's set . Thanks :)

    I hate the iron passage.

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 12:39 PM PST

And yeah that's all I really have to say. Had to vent to someone who'd understand my pain. 😭 The "shortcut" method of getting to the demon is not working out for me. Keep getting caught. Resigned myself to just taking the long road. Only died to the demon once so far. Died trying to make it through those gates like six times now.

What ds2 enwmy do you have the hardest time with? (Not bosses) (also, the horny reindeer suck. So to avoid the millions of posts about them lets say other ones)

Mine? The drakekeepers with the great hammers. Those boys are aggressive hit from weird angles and seem to have unlimited stamina. Thank goodness for poison arrows.

Looking for interesting/fun build for first playthrough!

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:18 PM PST

Just finished Bloodborne yesterday and I played through DS3 and DS1 earlier this year so I'm not completely new to the series. In DS1 I stuck to a quality dex build and dabbled in str/faith and pure INT in subsequent half-playthroughs, ds3 I tried going no shield pure dex with sellsword twin blades and a buckler and fire dagger on the off hands which was fun. For this playthrough I want to mix things up a bit, maybe focus on str/int and use a heavy weapon and a small shield for parrying? Or Str/faith if there are good offensive miracles? I don't want pure range combat but having it as a secondary option I think might be fun! if any one has any recommendations for pve builds they really liked I'd love to hear them. Even just tips (no spoilers please) about the game or cool weapons I'd love to hear it. Cheers!

Sup y'all! I'm playing the DLC's for the first time haha just curious how everyone would rank the three of them? I just beat Sunken King and I'm almost done with Ivory. Definitely enjoying both a lot. Cheers!

Big Arachnophobe here and need help skipping the area

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 02:49 PM PST

I'm playing dark souls 2 for the first time and I'm honestly loving it (big fan of the series) but I've just got to the area with the spider doors, I walked in to see a spider hanging from the ceiling and one on the wall and immediately ran back the other way. I cannot stand spiders even fake ones and I've come to learn that the boss of that area is a giant spider (big nope from me) I've seen people say you can just skip that area but I'm wondering how? I feel like I dont have anywhere else to go in the game

I need serious co-op help with Iron Passage

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 12:36 PM PST

Been marathoning the souls series since November.

Never had much trouble with getting through DeS, DS1 + DLC, and much of DS2 so far. But this Iron Passage boss run is just absurd, infuriating honestly. I've decided to cave and ask around for help, if anybody wants to help me out this is my steam:

When you have too many souls for your own safety...

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 12:29 PM PST

Today I had a raging moment, losing the biggest amount of souls untill this point (60k).

15 minutes earlier, losing 30k. Because dumb and rushy.

How? Well, I went fighting the rotten boss, in the Black Gulch. I stepped in a fire puddle, while i was giving him the last strike and didn't notice my healh bar going down and i died in the same time with him. I had those 30k souls at that point and I thought I will end up raging, because, of course, I didn't collect any souls from that boss.

Luckily to me, he respawned, but I died on my way back (forgot to be careful and take safety measures and did the mistake to run trough, all the way to the fog gate) and lost the 30k souls. Raging moment, followed by happiness when i saw the boss was back there.

Fought him and instead of being smart and go to Majula and use the souls, i've been cocky and went down to get the Forgotten Key, FORGETTING (funny, right?) that there are 2 giants waiting. Of course I died, being out of estus flasks after the rotten fight. Went back, trying a second time to rush trough, to go there (not like i just died earlier because of same mistake and lost everyting).

And again, lost the 60k souls.

I had to order a super cheesy cheeseburger with cheesy fries and take a bubble bath, because I was pissed. And I was pissed at me and my stupidity, because it was all my fault :)) (speaking between us, i didn't really deserve the cheesy goodies, neither the bubble bath for such a mistake, but i like to award myself with undeserved prizes).

Ok, it's not like you ever die from someone else's fault (unless you're being invaded, but i play offline), but sometimes you die because you don't know the game mechanics, or you are dying by being surprised.

Not when you die by making same mistake in less than 20 minutes. That's when it's the most upsetting.

Have you ever died and lost significant amount of souls because of this type of cocky- I'm too good mode- mistakes? Share your story! :)))

    Giants ?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 06:05 PM PST

so The Last Giant is the Giant Lord, and he gets triggered because he realizes it was you who defeated him (but doesn't the Ashen Mist Heart let you only observe memories?)

but what about the giants in the Black Gulch?

and what about Yhorm, is he a descendant of the Giant Lord?

Dark Souls 2 Sotfs Co-op issue

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:32 PM PST

So, me and my buddy were doing a Ds2 Sotfs co-op playthrough on PC. Everything was running smoothly; we were using the name engraved ring to connect almost instantaneously, and never had issues up until after the Guardian Dragon boss in Aldia's Keep. After that, neither of us could see the other's summon signs, only when it was from a small or red sign soapstone. Also, we couldn't really see any other signs of other players, and could invade and PvP regularly and without any problem. We've only been disconnected from each other once or twice, and we've never used a cheat engine or cheated in any regard whatsoever. Our Soul Memory is identical almost to the last digit. What in the blue blazes could be wrong??

Strange thing is, summoning worked for a brief second, allowing us to beat Throne Watcher/Defender, and then got completely borked again. Also, bone of order has no effect.

Miracle buffs canceling each other out as well as certain item buffs.

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 12:51 PM PST

I just defeated darklurker on my paladin character and was trying different set ups and couldn't tell if they were stacking or canceling each other out.

I was casting miracles like sacred oath, great magic barrier, denial.

Sometimes I would try just one of the miracle buffs then a item like dried root or elizabeth mushroom but not both items at the same time. And can't tell what is active or not.

Does anyone know for sure what buffs stack? Thanks.

Advice needed, I'm interested in making a hex/melee build (Dark roaring halberd maybe?)

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 05:56 AM PST

I have always played every Souls game with a dex build. In DS1 I made a dex/pyro build and in DeS I ended up with a dex/Faith build. I loved both of these but I feel like I want to try something completely new in DS2.

Hex build looks intriguing, so I want to try that. For melee I would want to wield the dark roaring halberd maybe? I've heard it's a good weapon to use as a hexer and I like it's moveset. Or are there better weapons for a hexer?

Anyways, I'm completely new to this and really need help with what to level up and how much, what gear to use and basically everything.

I started the game already as a sellsword (basically a dex build again) and I'm currently about level 50-55. I'm now in Lost Bastille and going next to Huntsman's Copse.

I'm thinking of respeccing now before I continue any further in the game.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

    Dark Lurker/ Pontiff Sullyvan similarities

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 02:39 PM PST

Does anybody else see the similarities between these two bosses? They both clone themselves after a certain damage threshold, and in Pontiffs case the clone has wings. Does anybody think that has any significance?

What's up with the eagle that carries you to lost bastille?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:56 PM PST

Is this just a throwback to the giant crow from DS1, or is this actually tied into the story somehow? I know in DS1 some people think the crow is related to velka, but I can't figure out how to DS2 eagle ties into the lore in any way.

    How to kill the Persuer?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 12:16 PM PST

I saw a way to kill him on YouTube, but that was like 18 fire bombs just throwing at him , is there any other way to kill him or do I have to collect 8k souls to kill him?
