Random theory about the moonlight butterfly

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 01:15 PM PDT

So, I've been thinking about this today, even if someone most likely thought about it before I'll post this here. I've been wondering about what a moonlight butterfly is doing in Darkroot Garden, when their home is in the Crystal Caves. Then it struck me. It's guarding the Watchtower Basement Key, which keeps Havel the Rock, Seath's sworn enemy, trapped inside the tower. Judging by how he has eyes over all Lordran, Seath most likely sent one of his creations to watch over the key so that Havel couldn't be free. Not only that, but it also protects the Divine Ember, and Divine weapons are required for an occult weapon, the weapon that Havel most likely wanted to use during his rebellion judging by the Occult Club you can find in the chamber with his armor.

My 12 Y.O lil' bro plays Dark Souls ALL the time, and I'm so unbelievably proud of him.

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 09:08 PM PDT

So I recently got my lil' bro into Dark Souls, he was a bit skeptical, but started playing it nonetheless. And he got stuck on the Asylum Demon for a little bit, trying to figure out the game mechanics rather than beating the boss. Then started to go through the entire game + DLC, beating every boss. Then he begged me to get him 2 & 3. He played 2 for a little bit and got bored then skipped to 3, then somehow beat Gundyr on his 4th try (still amazed on that) then did every campaign/DLC bossfight in the game. Then he made a new DS2 character and THEN AGAIN, did every campaign/DLC boss.

And after all of that, after 4 months of him beating every game, I walked in his room to tell him dinner was done, and saw him doing the O&S fight, and was so happy that he still cared about the game.

I don't really know why I'm posting this here, I'm just really proud of him. But if there is a message, it's to git gud.

    First Elden Ring now this...

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 09:37 PM PDT

After nearly 10 years I have finally defeated O&S!!

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 03:08 AM PDT

I know for many this isn't a big achievement but after completing both Sekiro and Bloodborne recently I thought I'd go back to the game that started it all again and see if I could slay them for the first time…

I usually start a new game of DS at least once or twice a year and always get stuck on this troublesome duo then give up. After nearly 30 attempts (and perfecting the stair jump skip in the process) I finally did it!!!

Souls games give the most satisfying feeling of accomplishment when you beat a certain area or boss, I've been smiling to myself for hours after!

I'm running a poll regarding the volume of these uploads. Check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSoulsMTG/comments/o47wtr/card_of_the_day_poll/

I FINALLY FINISHED MY SHIELD RUN!!

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 10:19 PM PDT

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THE HELP!! After a week of hardship, I finally beat dark souls 1 with only shields. The person that said that the bone wheel shield has the best damage was right, like jeez that thing was stronger then a lot of normal weapons. Praise the sun ☀️

What is the most annoying enemy in Dark Souls?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 01:27 PM PDT

The damn mimics are on the top of the list for me. Hate those things with a passion. Now, I always find myself attacking chests before opening them, even in other games that have no relation to Dark Souls.

    JUST FINISHED DS1 FINALLY

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 06:29 AM PDT

O&S took half of my playtime and I nearly went hollow on Gwyn, but I managed to finish my first soulslike. Luckily, the other souls games were on sale so I can move straight on to DS2, pretty excited! I absolutely loved playing through this game, first time a game has actually made me react to something verbally. Best game I've played in years.

Just beat Knight Artorias for the first time and oh my God what a fun fight

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 02:41 AM PDT

the fight wasn't that tough, ( i did watch a guide beforehand but even when watching the guide it still didn't looked so bad)

I first started attacking him with Queelags firesword but it wasn't doing much damage since that sword's damage is mostly fire

then I changed a black knight greatsword +5 and it was doing much more damage per hit

it's safe to say that he has become my favorite boss in the game

( I wanted to post a screenshot that I took when I killed him but this sub unlike to ds2 and ds3 subs doesn't allow images for some reason, so I hope you believe me )

I'm shocked how effective Princess guard is

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 03:23 AM PDT

I love helping out on bosses but dsr on xbox isn't the most active world. But the minute I learned Princess guard covenant helps with co op I joined. Now I get summoned almost ever 20 minutes :) if anyone is on new game plus and wants help with iron golem he's my favorite fight :D

What character/boss deaths are canonical in DS1?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 09:42 PM PDT

Because I know Gwyndolin couldn't be because Aldrich will devour him after he's locked in the Cathedral in DS3, so that fight cannot be canon.

Solaire either goes crazy or links the flame in his world and I'm assuming the latter is canon.

Priscilla is up for debate because Aldrich learns the life hunt scythe in a dream but he is known for devouring Gods, as in plural.

The Giant blacksmith's corpse as well as other characters corpses can be seen in DS3 as well, so while we could kill them, their corpses wouldn't stay so whoever's corpse is in DS3 is obviously not killed by us.

    I indict invaders

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 08:02 PM PDT

I always have a stack. Always.

While I was playing I got invaded a lot. ALOT. Anar londo and the depths were by far the worst, and had the most twinked out people. Undead burg was bad enough but dark beads players are easy to take down since they are a one trick pony.

Anytime I was invaded, win or lose, I indicted them. I have gotten so many, SO MANY hate messages on ps4 from people lately you would think that they would know its a game mechanic. Also, total kudo's for them typing this stuff out on a controller. I am not the best at diction but I cleaned it up for your reading sanity.

I have decided to post a few without names

1.)Guy with the Giant blacksmiths hammer, and havels armor lower burg: I am going to rip your face off and eat it, how dare you do that, that's not cool dude

2.)Guy with Gwyns helmet, shooting dark beads in The depths: why did you do that, now IM GONNA BE INVADED

3.)Guy in full Smough armor and hammer in the Depths: Really? Really thats how you do me? That's not cool, you don't actually do that to a player in a Fking PVP game!

4.) Guy in anar londo who was somehow able to fly?: Wait what? You cant do that! Ill get banned!

    I reply: then dont cheat

Him: I am going to rape your children

Me: Reported to PSN for threats against children

People are sensitive in dark souls these days

Why is the Battle of Stoicism Not Popular?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 05:08 AM PDT

I don't get it. It seems to be a dedicated PvP area. So why aren't more players using it?

Can I continue going through Blighttown from the Valley of Drakes instead of going though the Depths?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 07:28 PM PDT

I explored the Valley of Drakes and found Blighttown but didn't explore too much and learned that the normal way of going to Blighttown is through The Depths. Will I hit a dead end if I go through the Valley of Drakes or if one's an easier way going through? Any reply is appreciated.

    So I cheesed havel

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 11:09 PM PDT

I'm currently on my first playthrough, I've beaten ds3 and currently also going through ds2, and I stumbled upon a tower in the forested area, and killed havel by attacking him through the doors, however I didnt know the door was locked and I see that he drops his ring, if i come back later and unlock the door, will his ring still be there

My first experience with Dark Souls 1 and my friends first and probably last rage quit

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 06:18 PM PDT

the only other souls game I've ever played was ds3 so going into ds1 ptde i was thinking it would lack the polish... BUT IT DIDN'T!
Me and my friend have been having a blast playing through it! The only issue being so far is losing my save due to the game not wanting to start (long story)
it took me a while to get used to not being able to move while healing and no fast travel but in my opinion the no fast travel makes the game feel more like an open world (and I'm a sucker for open worlds). My other friend tho... well he's a different story. he took a day to get to the first bonfire past firelink forgot to rest and died to the black knight, he then started complaining about how the game is imbalanced and bad. I just told him he needs to get better and think things through (which he doesn't) he then straight up said No and that the game is garbage and they put "bosses" around the map. I told him he doesn't need to go past the black knight but he was not having it, he said its broken game design and how could people like it. He then left the call. me and my other pal are know in blighttown :)

Why does DS Remastered get so much flak?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:42 PM PDT

So I've heard several people talking about DS Remastered being a bad version of the game or being "lazy" and whatnot. What exactly do people dislike about DSR? Granted I've never played the original PS3 version or Prepare to Die, but it seems like a great version of the game to me. I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
