Powerstancing was a great mechanic and they should have kept it for DS3

PSA: Please Don't Desummon Your Assisting Shade When They're About to Fade

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 08:56 AM PDT

I had this happen earlier, and I am not certain if it is player inexperience, BM'ing, or wishful thinking that they'd be able to summon me again, but if your shade has been with you for a while and they're getting pretty dark, please don't black crystal them. They've been tagging along with you for several minutes, they might want their humanity back or might be in a situation where they could really use the recovery of resources, so just give them the reward. Don't Desummon and bank on being able to immediately resummon them, ever, for anyone. People do wander around and work on their own progression while having a soapstone down sometimes. My guy summoned me while I was fighting pursuer and so there I was, getting dropped back into the fight without most of my pyromancies save for 1 fire ball and 1 poison mist and no estus with the boys waking up.

    Consumable items are worthless

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 01:13 PM PDT

I can't use them without feeling like I'm wasting them. I tried using a brightbug on the guy in front of undead purgatory. No edge gained. I still died quickly. And I only had the one. Tried lacing my mace with Dari Pine Resin. Barely noticed a difference. No edge gained. Using items in this game is practically a gamble because there's no surefire way of winning with them. If you are going to give players consumables, make them worthwhile. I had this opinion in the first game and it remains unchanged.

Done with DS2 SOTFS - Short feedback

Done with DS2 SOTFS - Short feedback

DS2 was the last on my list of the FS-Games to get the platinum trophy and i heard a lot of bad stuff about the game before i played it, so i did it last.

What i liked about the game:

    1. DLCs
    2. Majula as base
    3. Freedom given to player in terms of where to go, in which order. It wasn t as linear as DS3, BB and Sekiro
    4. PVPing and Powerstance
    5. Option to reskill and item variety
    6. After understanding the story of DS2 it was pretty good, first i didn t like it, because it was like a story on it s own with no or very low relation to DS1, DS3 on the other hand had a clear connection to DS1, but the longer i went througt the game more i liked it´s story, especially the extra cut-scene with vendrick after bringing him the 3 crowns giving you the extra conversation was pretty cool.
    7. Animation of Weaponbuffs - I loved how the buffed weapons looked in DS2, in my opinion they even look better than DS3´s.

What i didn´t like about the game:

    1. Hitboxes - Especially during backstabs, so often stuff didn t connect, it felt totaly random and hits connected which should ve never have connected.
    2. Lock on system - this annoyed me the most, often it attacked in a direction i wasn t even aiming or switched to another target staying like 10 meters away for no reason
    3. Some of the level design choices like frigid outskirts, i ve no idea how this level made it into the game, in my opinion the worst designed level in all of the FS-Games i played.
    4. Fragrant Branch of Yore it, maybe it was poorly executed but to me it was just a pointless new addition
    5. Parrying - I love parrying and out of all FS-Games i played, it felt the first time not very satisfying for me to pull it off. I really didn t like that slow animation how people fall to the ground. I don t expect every SoulsGame to have it as epic as BB, but in DS1 and DS3 it also felt a lot better.

    My fav. bosses:

    1. Double Pursuer fight
    2. Fume Knight
    3. Sir Alonne

    My fav. weapons:

    1. Ricard´s Rapier
    2. Ivory King, Smelter Demon (both) and Fume Knight UGSs.
    3. Eleum Loyce

Had the most fun with a class canon high dex build.

    Final words

The game has it´s flaws but it s def. not as bad as some people try to make it look like, saying it is unplayable or terrible, depending on someone´s taste, it might not be as good as the other FS-Games but it is by no means a bad game. It´s def. worth at least one playthrough. I let myself get negatively impaced by the tons of threads and people saying the game is just bad, so i went with a somewhat negative mindset into it, but after actually playing through it on my own i can just say to the people thinking if they should or shouldn´t play DS2, you should.

Your thoughts on pros/cons? Anything i missed?

Throne of Want and ending of the game.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 12:02 PM PDT

I came into conclussion that "linking of the fire" does not happen in Drangleic and throne itself is sending you to a memory where you kindle a flame, you connon acces the throne room without giant's kinship which implies that it is required of you to have it but you as a player after sitting on the throne are not set ablaze like in other games but instead doors close and you end up at Majula like some kind of dream happaned and you are awakened from it (think like a Bloodborne ending). Another thing is that memories can send player to different ages, we even had pleasure to visit time pierod where ancient dragons have been slain which is not a far fetch that such thing could happen withing throne chamber also after exiting memory we return to the real world and nothing outside of the world has changed which matched with the fact that after sitting on the throne does nothing.

    Bluemoon Greatsword Yes or no?

So I'm sitting here staring at Benhart debating killing him for the sword. Should I? Is the weapon worth it early on? I appreciate any and all advice.
