Dark Souls Boxing Match in Undead Burg

Dark Souls Boxing Match in Undead Burg

    Boxing Match in Undead Burg

    Posted: 26 May 2021 02:47 PM PDT

I was invaded a few hours ago by someone named Soul of Cinder in Undead Burg. I was expecting to die quickly, not being someone who's good at invasions, but there you go. Instead, you gracefully emoted and rolled and parry spammed with me, you unequipped your armour and weapons with me and you started the Punch Out™.

That was the most fun fight I've had in my whole experience with this series. Clutch rolling, backstabs and the fact we learned to parry punches and combo made it magical. Unfortunately I committed suicide via firebomb hollow because I wanted you to backstab me off a ledge to finish me off, as you won the fight fair and square.

Thank you for having fun, even at the cost of a good 10 minutes of frantic punching for 1-3 damage each hit. Thank you for giving me so much joy in a game mechanic I normally suck balls at.

    Siegmeyer gives one hope.

    Posted: 26 May 2021 08:44 AM PDT

Nearing the end of my first play through Dark Souls has helped me with my anxiety and depressed feelings this last year. With all the sadness in a Souls game one person stands out. Siegmeyer.

Any character that can be in such gloom and still stay positive and energetic is truly inspirational to someone like me who constantly struggles with negativity.

    Long may the sun shine!

If Fromsoft ever returns to the world of Dark souls, I want them to explore some of the kingdoms outside of Lordran

    Posted: 26 May 2021 08:51 AM PDT

I've been replaying the game again for the nth time and I'm taking my time with all the item descriptions and dialogue for the first time in a while.

One of the more interesting bits of lore in my opinion is of Knight King Rendall and the fall of Balder. It would be interesting to have a game set during the time when the kingdom collapsed. Kind of imagine a game like Sekiro but set in Balder. Some other interesting places/characters are : Vinheim and it's dragon school, Earl Arstor's exploits in Carim, Prince Ricard and his journey to Lordran

Let me know what you guys think. What other places would make for a good prequel?

    Gaping Dragon Defeated

    Posted: 27 May 2021 02:12 AM PDT

Just beat the Gaping Dragon and feel bloody great. Not quite up to blightown yet, though. Since I already beat Moonlight, with the help of a friendly phantom, I think I'll cop to a divine weapon from Andre and tackle the catacombs next, give Pinwheel a go and get the art of kindling! Not tonight, but I'll be thinking about it until I do.

Quelaag bent me over a table and I loved it

    Posted: 27 May 2021 04:13 AM PDT

Man what an experience that was. I went into Blighttown very anxious and careful because of how notorious that area is. I pretty much loved everything about it, hell I even ended up looking like a ninja!

I had plenty of poison resist and the shadow set ready before going into the swamp, but I still ended up poisoned more times than I'd like to admit. Aside from that, I found most of the fighting to be very straight forward - though occasionally I'd facetank a fire blast from the furnace spiders and end up wishing my armor wasn't so frail.

At the end of exploring and finding all the items scattered everywhere, I went for Quelaag.. Shoulders back with my chest out I went to her domain and got absolutely game ended by those worm enemies. Momentum dead, I walked back and skipped them.

    "Weakness: chest"

    "Great chest ahead"

I walked through the fog and had the most fun boss fight I've played in DSR yet. She sent me home at least 7 times before I figured out her rhythm and range. But ultimately the bell was rung and that feeling of constant anxiety turned into a massive rush of relief.

    Dark souls is absolutely incredible.

    Nito, the wall hugger.

    Posted: 27 May 2021 02:02 AM PDT

I'm currently on my fist play through (have beaten DS3 once.) So after a good couple hours I finally made it through ToG and down to Nito. All was going well until he hit me with his grab and I thought "Well, here we go again.". He then drops me and as he does, he clips through the wall and stops attacking. Made for an easy boss battle, I must say. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? (I recorded it too, but this sub doesn't allow vids lol)

I got gud and it made me sad

    Posted: 26 May 2021 06:13 PM PDT

I completed my first NG+ challenge run.

After getting my first character to NG++++, I started a new character. I did no shield, fashion souls armour, and 2H handaxe only. I did very little damage and died very easily. Last night, I got that character to end of NG+.

Now, I know all the boss patterns. They are not a struggle anymore.

No, I don't mean this as a brag post. The victory makes me kind of sad.

My first run was such a beautiful struggle and such a triumph to beat. There was such a joy of surprise and the unknown. I won't be able to experience that anymore.

I got gud but at what cost?

Have any of you had issues with certain aspects of online play not working? (DS Remastered)

    Posted: 27 May 2021 02:59 AM PDT

The summoning and invading aspect of my game seems to be broken. I literally never see summon signs, and when I put my own sign down, I never get summoned. Additionally, when I try to invade a world, my screen just says "searching for world to invade" over and over again, and it never finds a world.

What's strange is that I still see messages and I still see the ghost versions of other players that pass by me from their own world.

Also, I noticed that sometimes when I first load into my world, I'll see others' summon signs on the ground, but the moment I press the summon button, it says "summoning failed" and the signs disappear.

One last note: Everything worked perfectly fine until two days ago, but then it suddenly stopped. And I have not changed anything with my internet or location. For example, I've been in Oolacile Township and was able to summon people there and get constantly invaded. But for some reason, I can now sit in that same area while human, and no one will invade me even if I sit there for an entire hour. No summon signs show up either. And I can leave my own sign down for a full hour without being summoned.

Please help if you have had any experience with this! I absolutely hate having to do everything on my own

Remastered for PS4 or for the Switch?

    Posted: 26 May 2021 10:27 PM PDT

I'm currently playing DS1 on my old, trusty PS3, nonetheless I've been seriously considering getting the remastered version either for PS4 or for the Nintendo switch. Switch one seems a bit more appealing, but it goes for around 15-20 more dollars in the used market. What do you recommend guys?

I Finally finished Dark Souls Remastered for the first time

    Posted: 26 May 2021 06:17 AM PDT

I finally after about 2 months finished Dark Souls and the DLC for the first time last night while streaming. Everything seemed to click last night and I even managed to beat Kalameet who had been ruining me for ages. Kinda feels bitter sweet, on one hand it feels amazing to have beaten and experienced this game, but also kinda sad that it's over. But now we move onto Dark Souls 2 for the first time ever completely blind. I'll be streaming this too and if anyone wishes to come and join me and my chat live then I'd love to have you along for the journey. Here's a link to last nights stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XlzPu3CoOg

All achievements in Dark Souls Remastered - Done!

    Posted: 26 May 2021 10:00 PM PDT

It took 37 hours and 98 deaths but this morning I finished off all achievements for Dark Souls Remastered on PC. I finished Dark Souls 3 (all achievements) two weeks ago before Remastered so I'll be moving on to Dark Souls 2 next. I've been dreading it but I'm committed now.

    Review on 100%

Build: Dex/Faith. Balder Side Sword with Darkmoon Talisman and Grass Crest in off hand. Sunlight Blade and Great Lightning/Sunlight Spear as offensive miracles. Mostly ran light armour with FaP and Dark Wood Grain for Rings using Mask of the Father and Gold Hemmed Set with Black Knight Gauntlets.

Toughest item: Channelers Trident for Knights Honour Achievement. It took me about 2 hours alone just to farm this from Dukes. Each run would only take about 70 seconds with a homeward bone but it took me close to 200 Channelers before I finally got one to drop, even with 410 item discovery. Darkmoon Blade would be a close second just because Souvenirs of Reprisal weren't dropping regularly for me as well but overall I only spent about an hour farming for them.

Toughest boss: Probably NG+ Nito or NG+ Gwyn. I can usually parry Gwyn but for some reason I just couldn't get the timing down this morning, resulting in about 7 deaths to him alone. NG+ Nito made me bring out a divine weapon for the first time. After his goons were out of the picture he was easy but it took me about 5 runs to give that a try. Manus in NG was also a challenge but that's more as a result of him only being fought once this run.

Overall I enjoyed Remastered far more than 3 in terms of how annoying the achievements were to get. I definitely appreciate the level design of Dark Souls when compared to how linear 3 can be but... Lost Izalith will always be the worst area in Souls.

Remastered Broken Item Spawns and Enemy?

    Posted: 26 May 2021 07:28 PM PDT

So I'm playing the remastered on PC and so far there are so many things that aren't happening, but supposedly should be. First instance was with Havel the rock guy, I went down the spiral stairs and saw him standing by the door, attacking and going near him did nothing, and when he died he didn't drop the ring (exiting the game and loading didn't fix it). Now I finished killing the moonlight butterfly and at the top of the tower the blacksmith statue gave me something, but I don't remember what. It's supposed to give three things, the home bone, divine ember, and the watchtower basement key, but none of those are in my inventory. Is the game broken or my savefile?

    Edit: But wait, there's more!

The first demon at the asylum was nowhere to be seen after going through the fog door, I remember him being right below the platform the last time I played

The Taurus Demon, he just jumped off the wall. While this isn't a glitch per se, just something strange.

The black knight at the top of the tower near the red dragon, completely black, textureless, and died in one hit.

    Sigh

If I am within the level range of my friend and in the same area, can I still be summoned by players in NG if I am in NG+?

Finally beat S&O - thank you!

    Posted: 26 May 2021 05:55 AM PDT

Last night I finally got past Smough and Ornstein, with the help of some kind soul who allowed me to summon them!

I got to that point over a year ago without using summoning, got frustrated and went hollow for a span of over a year. Well, I started a new character a little while ago and have been having a blast... But this pair is tough. This time I had been summoning Solaire for help - and have been getting about 2/3 of the way through Super O or Super S before getting smooshed or skewered...

And then last night I saw an actual human summon near the bonfire! I played a super-clumsy run, making tons of mistakes (even accidentally bopping the summon by accident). The summon took on O while I squared off with Smough - but they won quicker and we fought super Smough together.

If you're out there, thank you so much for your help! HUMANITY RESTORED.
