    It has very powerful atmosphere and some interesting mechanics with using a torch and the loud bells. As far as I can tell, this is the best "dark tomb" area in these games. It has one of the best main game bosses at the end of the level, followed up with arguably the most memorable story moment in the series with the Vendrick reveal. I'm legitimately confused to why people hate this area.

    What's the meaning of the opening cutscene?

    Hello everyone! I never understood what the opening cutscene of DS2 represents. Is our character sucked into a portal? Maybe a painted world? I really have no idea what it means. Could anyone explain it? Thanks in advance! Praise the sun!

    Is “mace” a viable weapon late game (higher NG+ cycle)

    Guess my character is sort of a paladin with the great hammers and faith. Just wondering for smaller blunt weapons besides the bandit axe if Mace is worth upgrading. Thanks! Or any other mace that would benefit from strength/faith?

    The Cat duo is gone! Finally cleared all bosses in sotfs!! And now, a question.

    Whew, frigid outskirts was truly horrible. I managed to follow the advice here and a great hammer 2H r2 with the stone ring kindly flattens the evil ponies. Then it was just a matter of finding the right pattern to burst down Lud from half health and avoid fighting both cats at the same time.

    I don't think you can't really say you beat DS2 without killing all bosses, and now I have. Feels great man!! now onto NG+

    Are there any spells I should hoard every playthrough? What I mean is, that it is good to have multiple copies of, and I should buy before going to ng+.

    What's something that I should know before starting this game?

    I've tried to play SotFS a few different times, but I can never get into it, and I'm not sure why. I've beaten ever other From Soft game except this one. What's something different about DS2 that could help me have more fun with it? I've heard that DS2 design is pretty different than the other games, so maybe I just need to find a fun play style. thank u btw!!

    Worst boss in series

    Rptten allways kill me with same attack, he dosent even hit me, he just touches me with random part of his body and im dead. One hit, spaming it and its not even working. Bad bosses usually wont 1 shoot u with broken hitbox.

    How do you mod SOTFS?

    I've followed every guide on planet earth it feels, and none of them work. The only guide I've found for SOTFS is one for angus of darkness, but I dont want that specific mod, I want mods like fleshy hollows and skybox remixes. Or more fittingly the "This game is bullshit" mod.

    Getdosato does not work no matter how damn hard I want it to. Theres no download links since I think the original site got shut down or something (or my internet is too bad to load it.) so I had to use a third party site to get it, and even then it didint work when I followed a guide. And I did it exactly as it said, and to no avail. so I found another guide, then another, then another, and none of them worked. And then I read SOTFS has some weirdness that makes it impossible to mod it with getdosato. Do people actually mod the game nowadays?

    But pretty much im asking if I can mod sotfs and if anyone is a computer wizard who knows how.

    Tips for reaching dark lurker

    I managed to kill all the pilgrims and light the fire once but I can't get it done 2 more times. The havel guy and the dude with the estoc tear me apart in this crowded little area. I'm trying to do a kill at bosses run (including dlcs).

    Just finished the base game and first dlc as of last night, what a great game!

    I really don't understand the hate ds2 gets after playing through this much of the game, and dumping 100 odd hours into it. I understand the annnoying at things like the iron keep, and other areas, but I think the good 100% outweighs the bad.

    There are some fantastic things like: many of the bosses such as darklurker and smelter demon. twinblades, build variety, spellcaster viability, areas like dragon shrine & aerie, bonfire ascetic mechanic (honestly, it was so annoying having to go ng+ in ds3 and 1 to get + equipment, I'm so happy that you could just bonfire ascetic.

    I also don't mind the difficult areas. in ds3, outside of areas like archdragon peak and irythyll dungeon and the catacombs, there aren't many tough areas. At least ds1 had a selection of tough areas (fuck the tomb of giants and catacombs for real though).

    My biggest criticism is that some of the bosses were awful and just not good at all. Talking to you, royal rat authority, covetus demon, sunken city gank squad.. However so far I've encountered some of my favourite bosses in the souls series..

    Sinh was a lot of fun (the first dlc was so good, aside from the gank squad and impossible to find bonfires), despite the poison and bad hitboxes. Again, smelter demon and darklurker were really good fun. From memory, vestadt was also enjoyable too.

    overall I really like the game, and i'm excited to play through the next 2 DLC's.

    in case anyone is interested, I recorded every death from my playthrough of the sunken city, and I am editing and making a video out of it. I will likely post it tonight or tomorrow, whenever I finish it.

    Dark Souls 2 Shield Only

    I was recently inspired to do a shield only run in DS2 by another Redditor (I forgot their username, so if you see this thank you!) Who also has given me some tips. Currently I'm at the Rhoy's Resting Place bonfire in Shrine of Amana. Got myself a Tower Shield +8 and I've only played about 6 hours so far. I'm impressed at how decent the shields are in this game for offense, it's actually incredible!
