This is Yumi in darkwood that you just fought if you see this. You were wearing Full black knight and using BKGS and BKGA. You're a beast. I'm a DS1 Veteran who's played for almost a decade. I was on an easy 9 kill streak and you didn't end that streak but Jesus, we just battled for 10 minutes uncontested, then someone else invaded. You were generous enough to step to the side and let me slaughter him with ease before getting back to our fight. No backstabs, parries or anything- the same way I play. You play BKGA just as well as me, which is crazy. Since I'm not tech savvy with switch, I just want to post this hoping you see this and my gratitude. I still lose, even if it's not often. And even though I won, oh my god dude that was hands down the most intense and tactical raw strength PVP I've ever experienced on a souls game. Thank you, strong stranger.

Dark Souls made me realise how much I hate skill trees

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:37 AM PST

I decided to stop just re-playing DS and try another similar and well-recommended game, so I picked up Jedi Fallen Order. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but its skill tree can fuck right off.

Dark Souls did skill trees perfectly: they're just in your mind and your fingers. Your character can do all the shit straight away, and it's you who needs to learn. Skill trees are forced, unnatural and lazy (lazier), and Dark Souls is proof that they're also unnecessary.

Increasing health and stamina along with leveling up is fair play, but locking attacks away is pointless. It's not even as if (in Jedi, at least) the unlockable attacks are powerful: they're still flawed and leave you vulnerable, making them balanced enough to not even make things easier.

Old me wouldn't have cared, so thanks, Dark Souls, you've ruined basically every game with a skill tree now.

Bed of chaos is the most annoying fu***ng boss i have ever fought

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 02:24 AM PST

Holy shit. This game has been a breeze upto this point. Ive tried everything.. taking all my armor off to run faster.. trying to bait its attacks. oh you think you're gonna dodge me and get to the heart?? NOPE. Into the hole you go. Fuckin ridiculous. The walk to the boss takes about 3 minutes and i don't spend more than a minute in the room before i die. Its not even hard its just stupid.

    Edit:i finally beat it.

My covid goal is to plat every souls game after doing so for DeS (PS5). Today for the first time in my life I soloed Fatty and Skinny.

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:44 AM PST

I beat DS3 a while back, played a tiny portion of DS2 (up until those Sentinel guys as a boss) and furthest I got in DS1 was the crystal dragon place when I last played ~8 years ago. The DeS remaster on the PS5 rekindled (ha!) my love for souls which was the catalyst to replay and plat the entire series. To top it off I'm trying to do so blind (as blind as I can, given I'm not 100% new) and with 0 coop.

Back in the day I always had to summon others to get past O&S but after 34 attempts I finally got em down. Nobody else I know understands how much of an accomplishment that is to me so I just wanted to celebrate here. Umbasa???

I have a confession to make...

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 09:01 AM PST

Okay, a little context: I've played all of Ds2, Ds3. I've watched every video there are about the lore, development and cut content.

I've called myself Souls fan for many years. However, my biggest shame is that I've never actually finished Dark Souls 1, last time I tried, I didn't even ring the second bell..

I picked up Ds1 remaster on switch, and started playing it again last Friday. And today, with the help of A summon Solendis (THANK YOU) and Solaire (best boi), I beat the infamous Ornstein & Smough. My heart is still pounding, haven't felt this way since beating Slave Knight Gael in the Ringed City.

Hopefully, with this momentum I can finally beat Gwyn and be proud that I've finished every dark souls game!

    (Sorry for long post)

    Fellow Undead, I did it.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:32 PM PST

    Praise The Sun!!

I can't believe I just beat Dark Souls Remastered! DARK SOULS. What a great fucking game. The Artorias of the Abyss was a really good DLC. After being stuck on Manus for 2 days, I beat Manus, Kalameet, and Gwyn within 90 mins, perhaps I was overleveled (84)? Or maybe it's the fact I was using +5 Black Knight Halberd lol. It was such an engaging and mysterious experience, and really tested my determination and observation skills. I can't wait to tackle the rest of the trilogy, Bloodborne, and Sekiro and go deep into the lore!

Take care Fellow Undead, and don't You dare go Hollow.

    Accidentally killed Solaire

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 07:25 AM PST

I... I accidentally killed him. He was my favourite character. I already miss his silly jokes... I put down my controller for a moment and apparently it was at the wrong angle which lead to the R (neutral attack) button being pressed.

Fucking hell, I had to kill him. I couldn't leave the bonfire. And besides I can't return to Undead Parish to get an absolution if I'm at the second bonfire in Anor Londo before you kill Ornstein and Smough.

I'm sorry. I want to pay for my sins. I want to revive him. I'd give all the souls I ever collect I just want him back.

Gwyn will have me pay for my sins.

Just Killed Moonlight Butterfly For The First Time

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:43 AM PST

and I absolutely loved the fight! Was surprised as I was always told how bad of a boss it was. Yeah the dude was super easy and the fight was just dodging until he came in to get half-healthed, but the music and the aesthetics of it all were just so sublime!

In a world where everything is some Lovecraftian monstrosity that wants to devour your essence, I bloody loved the whole contrasting vibe of the fight - and the walk up to it too!

Should I get Dark Souls remastered?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:34 AM PST

So I got the PS5 and I played Demon's Souls remake (my first souls game). as soon as I finished that I immediately jumped into Dark Souls 3 and its DLCs. and literally 2 days later I jumped into Bloodborne. So I'm wondering if I should get Dark Souls remastered and keep the adrenaline rush going. like is it healthy for a person to play 4 fromsoft games in a row?

    Secret Achievments?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:43 PM PST

I'm trying to 100% the game, the only visible achievments I have left are Prayer of a Maiden, Knights Honor, and The Dark Soul. There are still 2 secret achievements and I'm confused, because to my knoweledge, the only one I SHOULD be missing is the Gravelord Covenant. I have every other achievement in the game.

    Question about the sun

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 12:21 PM PST

Okay me and my friend have been having a debate.

You see it all started with me playing dark souls and learning about the first flame how its the sun. And created souls and what not.

And the entire game is about keeping it from going out. But i think it wouldn't be that bad.

When i told my buddy who is a dark souls vet my idea he said that if the first flame went out everyone would freeze and die.

But i pointed out that before the first flame the world was able to support life such as the dragons and the zombie proto-humans things that found thw first flame.

I believe that humanity could survive without the sun because the world darksouls is set is clearly capable of supporting life without the sun.

Me and my friend have been debating this a lot and id like someone to give me in game evidence with or against my point.

Just beat my first Souls game and.....

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:53 PM PST

WHAT A RIDE. Dark Souls Remastered. I'd been hearing about it for forever from my bro and nephews and all their frustration and tears at the game kept me away. Until now. And playing it on stream where I couldn't quit, omg what a dang feat. I just started DS3 and I already miss DS1. It's a perfect game. I'm a forever fan now.

Hi guys, could you tell me some good places to do coop bosses, invasions and pvp in Prepare to Die Edition on Steam after 9 years since the release of the game? I have DSCM so I know some things but as I write this, the only places I found active are Darkroot Garden and Sen's Fortress .

    First playthrough, which class?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:36 PM PST

Hello, I'm about to start Dark Souls Rem, I became a huge soulslike fan after playing PS5 DeS remake.

I chose a royalty build and I had very great time with it.

At this point, I would like to choose a similar class in DS, I read a lot about Pyromancy (with casting scaling with dex and with pyromancies) and Sorcerers, but I read also that a Pyromancer can also fight with spells, but not viceversa, so I got a little bit confused about this. Can anyone explain me how Pyros and Spells works in DS and what is the best choice/build to begin with?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

When is it likely a Souls game will go on sale again on PC?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:19 AM PST

I'm looking to buy my cousin a copy of any of the 3 games so I can get him into the series and also so we can co-op together. I have seen DS2 and DS3 go on sale a month or two ago but not DSR.
