I became the 5th person on PS4 to max out the Servants of Chaos Covenant

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 08:36 PM PST

I got to max level and was running out of things to do so I figured I may as well. Has anyone done this on vanilla Dark Souls? The time sink to do it without being able to pop multiple Humanities or donate more than 1 at a time would be insane

You invaded me, you dropped an indictment for me to indict you with, you waited for me to kill a golem, we jumped for joy together, you destroyed me in a duel, and then you bowed as I died. GG, would get invaded again.

What’s more difficult than the Anor Londo Archers...?

First time playing Dark Souls, just made it to the top of Sen's Fortress

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 03:10 AM PST

I finished Blighttown and was so glad I was done with all the platforming.

Walked into Sen's Fortress and... I was pancaked by the snakes lol. But after a few tries I saw the giant hole and the pendulums and I had nothing but regrets. Platforming was definitely not done with me. 😭

It was very satisfying to learn how the snakes attack though. Starting the level, I was dreading every encounter, and now it all feels much more achievable.

Help me understand the beginning of Dark Souls

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 01:19 AM PST

I've watched multiple lore videos but none have explained this question that I have. I get that dragons ruled the world when there was basically just trees and plants, then fire emerged out of nowhere to create humans. But where did the gods come from? Did they emerge the same time the humans did? Did they always exist at the same time of dragons and were just overshadowed by them?

    Dark Souls Anti Piracy

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 03:33 PM PST

So, I made a Dark Souls Anti Piracy video and I believe I am the first. Go check it out if you'd like. Took me some good hours to get it done but I had a lot of fun. Consider making one so we can get a good collection of them going. https://youtu.be/a8PkS3v-GUw

What is dark souls like on switch?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 02:54 AM PST

I'm thinking about getting dark souls on switch, I have played and loved every souls game and just can't get enough. I want to get it on switch and play it on the go but for some reason I feel like I'll suck at it on switch. What is it like? Are the controls harder on switch? Is the frame rate bad?

Guys! I need help! I'm a sorcerer and I've tried countless times to cut off Seath's tail but failed. Everytime I die I respawn in the Duke's archives and have to make the long run to Seath, only to fail in cutting off his tail again. If any of you guys still play Dark souls 1, please help :(

Btw, I play on Nintendo Switch.

I want to ask you all about my ng+ build.

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 02:33 AM PST

Hello there. I want to talk about the character I'll be using for ng+ and above. I have the elite night set +6, I'll upgrade it to +9 but I replaced the chestplate with the silver knight chestplate +5 because it looks cool. For my weapon I got a classic longsword +15 but I can't deside whether I want the grass crest shield or dragon crest shield. Please help me decide this one, I like the grass crest shield for the stamina regeneration and green effect but the dragon crest works better as a shield. I also have a pyromancy flame but I don't use any spells only power within beacause of the damage boost, I also use the charcoal pine resin or golden pine resin for a damage boost. Finally I have the Favor and Protection ring along with Havel's Ring. I think this is good, maybe I'll change the longsword for the silver longsword or sunlight straight sword as they have better reach. Thank you for your input.

Tldr : grass crest or dragon crest / longsword, silver longsword or sunlight straight sword

Edit : Sorry I forgot to mention, my stats are 33 in str, dex, end and vit and also 10 in attunement. Everything else is not leveled.

I just beat Dark Souls Remastered (DLC included) and I loved it

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 08:28 PM PST

So, to add some context, I've played and finished Dark Souls 3 years ago and I thought it was a lot of fun and tried bloodborne but I found the whole aggressiveness vein of the game wasn't exactly my cup of tea. So came this holiday sale, I decided to give the first one a try and it's really good, and I didn't find the game all that hard tbh, once I found havel's set and upgraded my weapon to +15, and a great shield to +10, using ring of protection and havel's ring, I just poised myself to the end and I loved every second of it.

I'm about 12 hours into my first play-through and...

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 06:34 PM PST

...wow am I loving this game!

After putting off trying the game for way too long, I finally bit the bullet and figured I'd give it a shot. The first few hours of struggling through Undead Burg and bashing my head against the brick wall that are the Bell Gargoyles was rough, but eventually things began to click into place. I started to really understand how to approach the combat of Dark Souls, as well as came to figure out how to best use my main weapon (halberd), and since then I've really started to understand why this game (and series) is so beloved.

I feel that the largest strengths of the game is how rewarding it is to play, and how it doesn't show too much of its hand in terms of lore and story - it strings me along with an appropriate amount of resistance and intrigue where if I put the time in to learn the areas, enemies, and tactics, every little victory and lesson is a rewarding experience. Fighting my way down through Lower Undead Burg, the Depths, and then finally conquering Blighttown and Quelaag had me smiling with each bonfire I reached and every major enemy I bested, for instance.

Tonight, I finally managed to navigate my way through Sen's Fortress and defeat the Iron Golem after a few attempts. Again, when I bested him I had that big smile on my face, but when those white harpies came down and grabbed me, I was immensely confused: "Where the hell are they taking me?" I thought.

And then I saw it for the very first time...

    A N O R

    L O N D O

I can't wait to see what the rest of this game has in store.

Is the Ring of Favor and Protection worth using on a SL1 run?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 04:45 AM PST

It gives you 114 HP, 19 stamina, and 10.4 equip load with those base pyromancer stats.

Is that what people always use? Is it more useful then being able to do, say, Havel's Ring and DWGR or the two Attunement slot rings?

    Getting to Blighttown

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 04:15 AM PST

I'm on my first playthrough and I enjoy watching playthrough videos up until where I am (never further). I'm currently on the entrance to Blighttown (Darkroot Garden > Basin > Valley of Drakes > Blighttown).

However on another video, someone is going another way entirely. Is that a shortcut or am was I the to stumble on a shortcut. Are both ways the same?

I don't want to go ruin my experience by going through an easier way. What should I do?

I just want to talk about how much I love the message/bloodstains mechanic.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 06:33 PM PST

It's one of my absolute favorite mechanics in a game, ever. I love reading people's messages, wether it be jokes or legit helpful advice and warnings. Bloodstains are also great, in that they're both a warning and establish a sense of comradere. Knowing my death will help prevent someone else's really makes death less of a drag.

Most of my favorite memories involve bloodstains and messages. The first time I went through Sen's Fortress I remember finding a chess with a message in front of it that said "Beware of mimicry". The chest wasn't a mimic but later on when I ran into another chest there were more messages like "Beware chest" and such. The cherry on top was a bloodstain that showed somebody trying to open the chest and get eaten.

Or the first time I went through Anor Londo and got to the part with the archers. I still remember the bloodstain of a poor fellow who definitly thought the rails were going to block that shot as he stared at it come towards him.

That moment of "Ah, that's what they meant" or "Oh, that's what happened to them" is one of my favorite feelings in gaming ever. So thank you, for giving us such a unique and awesome mechanic.

    Interesting anti-offline mechanic

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 10:40 PM PST

I know I'll get shit for this, I'm prepared for it.

I was in Anor Londo last night, doing my best to pick up every piece of loot before O&S. The silver knights 3-shot me, and I've had a tough time with them as I value light rolling more than poise.

So I've fought a dozen of these on my way to the great hall with the fog wall. I'm out of estus, and I've burned damn well near all of my humanities - well over 12. I have maybe 5 left.

I get to the great hall and clear the mobs. Those fucking sentinels are so buffed compared to the first ones in the area, that damn heal.

I clear everyone out, get invaded by someone who's absolutely insane at the game. When I say insane, I mean chain-backstabbing me. This is my first playthrough so I have virtually no chance. I can't even get close to him. He also only needs 1 backstab and a light attack to kill me.

This happens multiple times, frustrating me, as I still have to fight at least 3 silver knights to even get to the hall.

Eventually I make it to O&S. Get to the second phase after handling Smough. Big mistake, Super-Ornstein is insane. Wrekt.

I continue trying only to get crushed by Invader again.

So now I want to say "fuck it" and summon all the help I can get for the fight. I only have 1 humanity left, so I get an idea.

I'm gonna switch to offline-mode and see what I can do. I do this, and make it to solaires summon sign. WOOT! I'm excited.

As I summon I discover that the game will force shut-down on Xbox One if you attempt to summon an NPC at all during offline mode (XB1).

    Fuck me.

Not wanting to deal with this shit I just head to the boss room and do it myself. This time taking on O first.

Won with a sliver of health after avoiding Smough's ridiculous hammer charge and swing.

    fuck that guy.

I have a newfound respect for the game.

PVP, while flawed, is riskier and unlike any other game I've played.

Do you guys consider glitch exploits cheating or wrong?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 10:35 PM PST

So I found out this one glitch where you can get a bunch of souls and not gonna lie it's sort of fun to just make a new character then level them up as high as you want then just beat the game so casually and make you feel like a god amongst hollows. This hasn't taken away any value the game has because I already poured blood, sweat and tears into the game by 100% the game already well before I found the glitch so just to reiterate is it wrong?

    Humanity
