This shoulda been the music for the Graverobber Gank Squad

Gank Squad has to be the stupidest boss in the game. You're guaranteed to get fucked seven ways to sunday if you try to fight normally. But they're hard countered by running laps around the arena while landing one poke at a time.

This boss needed the Benny Hill theme because that's how the fight plays out.

Being Surprised the Game isn't Garbage

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 05:27 PM PST

Is anyone else slightly bothered by all these posts where people talk about how surprised they are that the game isn't garbage?

These posts show that even after all these years the unfair reputation is still something of a default opinion. As if the game actually not being garbage is something strange and worthy of comment.

Is there some kind of special sequencing you have to do to open all six doors outside the King's Gate bonfire?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 07:36 AM PST

I have five of the doors open but I can't get the last one on the left open. Am I doing something wrong?

My only regret is that I stopped playing ds2

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 10:22 PM PST

I forgot how fun this game was, haven't touched it in 3 years and it is a blast. Wish I spent more time on it when it had more active players. Current build is dual smelter swords with iron flesh sl230 ng+. Excited about playing again and glad there are still people to play with.

    New to DS2, quick question!

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 09:45 AM PST

Sup guys just started the game, quick question about stats. I already won't be super efficient as should be a first run, but is there a point to level VIT if I am under 70% equip load?

Hexes vs Sorceries for offensive play in PVE

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 01:14 PM PST

    Hello everyone.

I'm considering switching from Hexes to Sorceries, but I can't decide due to various factors such as finding new weapons / re-infusing current ones.

I haven't really been able to find a definite answer to this question, as I've heard many conflicting arguements regarding this matter.

    What do you think?

TIL the Black Hood reduces the stamina cost of spells

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 02:41 PM PST

    NEVER MIND I WAS WRONG!

I missed the fact that without the hood I have 20 Intelligence, which is just too little to meet the requirements for the Sunset Staff. Which gives a penalty to stamina costs.

I was comparing the casting speed of spells with cast speed equipment and without and noticed something strange. Without any of the equipment on, I could cast 4 Dark Orbs from a full stamina bar, but with them on I could cast 5. Some quick testing isolated the effect to the Black Hood. I don't have any hard data on the effect, but it seems to reduce costs by 20-25%.

And since I was recording for an upcoming guide on hexblades, I have video evidence.

Currently at Crown of the Iron King DLC, I want to talk with you about this game.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 12:58 PM PST

Just wanted to ask you guys about some stuff here and there, I guess this is what this sub was made for.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I finished the main story for the first time, and jumped straight to the DLCs. I played through The Sunken King, and I loved it, but I just gave up at the Gank-Robber boss fight, I did not want to touch it.

After that I 'finished' the second one. Say all you want, I couldn't beat the Fume Knight without summons. After I beat him, I went down those stairs and found the crown, and I said to myself: ,,Huh, what about those two other bosses?" So I backtracked, and found them.

But MAN, the run up to them is a chore. I hate it. I guess 'getting gud' is an option, but I don't find the bosses bad at all. (Even Blue Smelter Demon is great IMO) It's so frustrating! Especially the run up to Sir Alonne. I think I only had two attempts at the boss, the other were just me dying at the Alonne Knights. I don't want to sound like a whiny bitch, but still. Who should I focus on first? Sir Alonne or Smelter? I keep dying at the last Smelter stage but the run up isn't so bad.

I'm also trying to get the sun sword, but I can't seem to find enough people to help. My SM is about 3.5 million, where should I put my summon sign? Do you think the Sun Sword is worth it anyway? I mainly use straight swords, but i've tried other stuff like maces or halberds. But I love how straight swords look. Also, there's the Ashen Warrior Sword, I love the moveset, but the durability sucks and I heard the damage does too.

I'm not particulary good at the game, but I really love it. I played the first one Dark Souls and it's probably my favourite game of all time, but right now Dark Souls 2 is pretty nice. Never used sorcery, but I feel like in Dark Souls 2 you have more reasons to use them than in the first, and I am looking forward to trying it myself.

I also really want to play Dark Souls 3 after 2 because of the lore connection to the first, but I need to buy a better computer to do that. I personally prefer the first game's lore over this one's, but Dark Souls 2 lore is really complicated and mysterious and I love that.

All that being said, I'm sorry I moved from topic to topic, but I just feel like chatting about it and hearing from you guys. It's ok if you don't answer all of my questions, but I like hearing your opinions about this game. Praise the Sun!

Just want to have your opinion:

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 05:16 AM PST

Sorry for asking as it has probably been discussed extensively numerous times already. I would like to know your stand on the early critics of the game judging the game arguably unfairly when it first came out fucking it over so bad many people only now are giving it a try through sales. Ä° am, as likely many of you, just sad that the word of a single "critic" and some bandwagons can ruin something so many people enjoy so dearly...

    Best Int. Scaling weapons

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 11:53 AM PST

I'm currently using the watcher greatsword infused with magic. My player stats show my weapon damage is 519. I like the weapon but it weighs 7 lbs. I want something lighter that scales off Int/Faith with either an S or A rating. I do not want a thrusting weapon. The blue flame just doesn't do enough damage and the moonlight greatsword is too heavy. What weapons would you suggest (not thrusting)? Her are some of my stats:

    Strength 20 Dexterity 25 Intelligence 63 Faith 62

Ancient Dragon is the worst. (Xbone)

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 03:28 AM PST

I'm done with this big SoB, had him one or two hits from dead and my sword broke, I panicked and got stomped on. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE! With that I'm done, took an obscene amount of time to get that far, I'm calling it a solo win, don't even care. Can someone just help me kill this mofo.

So. Frigid Outskirts. Lets have a family friendly discussion about this location.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 03:12 PM PST

In my opinion this not the Best location. It could be even Worst location in Ds2! OR EVEN ENTIRE SOULS SERIES!

Giant open field where everything looks the same, your vision is being stopped every few seconds, powerful anoying enemies, barely anything to explore, barely anything to pick up, confising design (that might was on purpose), no bonfires, long and Dangerous run to boss, boring reskin boss.

At least there are 3 summons but actually only Vengarl is useful cause faith thot deals whopping 100 damage and headhunter Just dies.

So what are your opinions? But remember no swearies.

Best School of Magic for a Viking Warrior

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 07:30 PM PST

I want to do a run of this game as a STR warrior paired with some school of magic flavoured as Nordic.

At the moment I'm leaning toward miracles since all miracles are long poems/songs, essentially sagas.

    First time trying hybrid build

    Posted: 10 Nov 2019 01:17 AM PST

I had a first playthrough that reached iron keep, and decided to restart with a build that also uses faith.

I still don't know how to min max in this game compared to ds1 and ds2, but i understand that infusions are very good.

I just started as a knight, just finished forest of fallen giants and currently in heide's tower.

So far running a mace, rapier, caestus and a battle axe, all +2. I have a basic chime.

My stats are vig 12, end 8, att 7 (pushing to 10 to start attuning spells), faith 15, str 15,dex 12, vit and int are basic.

Any advice on what i should be doing next? I went for faith because it usually provides utility, but have no clue how to make the Best of it or how long it needs to benefit.

    Any advice on covenants also?
