| Things changed for Dark Souls 2 in reaction to criticisms of Dark Souls 1 Posted: 24 Jan 2021 06:23 AM PST Something that is a hot topic in the Souls community, as we see here relatively frequently, is how different Dark Souls 2 is from the rest of the Souls games, but what I think has now been lost to time is that when DS2 released, there were only two other games in the Souls series to compare it to. When you start to look at things that were changed in DS2, you begin to see a pattern that a lot of these changes came from a reaction to things that people didn't like or complained about from Dark Souls 1. I'll give a few examples:

| Posted: 24 Jan 2021 10:34 AM PST I used to use ds4 windows and it used to work fine after toggling "hide controller" on and off. I had to reset my pc and reinstall ds4 windows now my controller will not work on ds2 no matter what I do. The ds4 windows now has a newer version and they no longer have the same version available I used to use. I've also tried to use steams native duelshock4 ability doesn't work on that either. | Data from my sunlight medal farming Posted: 24 Jan 2021 10:12 AM PST First off, thanks to TheHittite for the guide provided. This was extremely helpful. Just thought I'd add my own data to what's already been posted before. I farmed the 2 falconers closest to the Royal Army Campsite bonfire (the one near the fire straight over the wall, and the one to the right in the adjacent tent) with great lightning spears. All runs were done with jester's cap, prisoner's tatters, Watchdragon, and covetous gold +2 (I didn't jump into the DLC for symbol of avarice). I used rusted coins and killed as many falconers as I could in 5 minutes, then went to collect all the drops at the end of the 5 minutes. I was very consistently making 24 rounds (48 kills) per 5 minute coin while running at a comfortable pace for me. There were a few runs where the last 1-2 kills may not have been under the effect of a rusted coin. At the end of each run when I went to collect the drops, I would have to kill a 3rd falconer that would rush to tent. Below are the data: Total rusted coins used: 20 Total estimated falconer kills: 980 (48 kills per coin x 20 coins + 20 additional 3rd falconer kills) Total Sunlight Medals: 31 Drop Rate: 31/980 = 3.16% Total time spent: ~2hrs if you include time to collect all drops Longest streak without a drop: 4 coins/20 minutes (nearly 200 kills) This drop rate is pretty similar to what I've seen on previous posts, though I could have improved this with symbol of avarice and better concentration (went back after and was able to do 50 kills/coin). I was also too lazy to respec my melee/faith buff build and ended up using great lightning spear which was the best spell I had available, not sure if I could have saved time with any faster casting sorceries/hexes. I've struggled with the bosses. Pursuer was easier but ruin sentinels, while easier and I got further in each attempt, still took 4-6 tries and I've just had my ass handed to me by smelter demon (I know he's optional) Which leads me to my point. In sports like golf or snooker (pool if you're American) it's not about making a good shot but being able to make that good shot 98/100 times in a row. So do you think you could beat the bosses in Dark Souls 2, 5 times in a row if you had to? I just feel sometimes I get a bit lucky and would like to be able to beat bosses consistently. Wow this character is bad just so random I had magic to so I wasted points into that, I wasted points into the weight system for Herolds set, wasted a bunch into the more life points. Now I see why it took me so long but I guess it's okay, I went into the game blind in like 2017 with no online help or co op I have my current file with no farming at level 144 with a claymore and mainly light weight with the invisible set, set to a carry weight of like 15% so much better. My current file I only beat the main game so I might do the dlc on that file then NG+ with that with again no co op [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 23 Jan 2021 03:15 PM PST I've just been recently getting into this sub-genre not too long ago after finishing Nioh 2 last year, and after finishing Bloodborne, I really wanted to try out the DS trilogy not too long after. And surprisingly for me, DS2 kinda ends up being very to DS1 in terms of enjoyment, and I don't know exactly why. It took me longer to beat DS2 (37 hours) compared to DS1 (26 hours), but some parts of DS2 I liked just a bit more, even if there were some parts I didn't enjoy very much at all. I went for the same build I did in DS1, going all in on STR, then all in VIT so that I could wear Havel's and powerstance two Smelter Hammers, until I tried out the Iron King DLC and died 30 times trying to get to the 4th bonfire, then I gave up on that idea and just put points into VIG and END like a normal person. Hardest fight was definitely Fume Knight, which I died to over 10 times, but was still a pretty good boss. Favourite boss was Darklurker by far, even though I first tried it, I loved how much the second phase kept me on my toes. Total deaths was a little over or under 400 iirc, even as my fourth game of this genre. Honestly more willing to replay this game than DS1, and I loved DS1. [link] [comments] |

Firstly, there is Bell bros, then there was Sun bros, don't get me wrong I like that the game makes an alternative way to platinum for offline players but it was just balls. BUT, the feeling of earning that shiny trophy is satisfying. So, if and only if you have a bunch of time in your hands then go for it. [link] [comments] |

Seriously, we had to suffer through this for three games just so we can get to talk to miyazaki's waifu and hear the same dialogue 100 times until sekiro? Like god damn any good faith this game had with me is completely outweighed by the amount of souls I've lost in bloodborne because I don't want to sit through five minutes of my ps4's ram loading the doll's creepy ass. | For anyone considering making a 39k build Posted: 23 Jan 2021 04:57 PM PST Good luck, enjoy yourself, but please go into it with the knowledge that 9 times out of 10 you will not be fighting unprepared noobs struggling through FotFG, but instead other well seasoned players trying out their newest wacky 39k build idea. The only real upside to note is that there are far fewer Embedded Key builds in that bracket than there used to be, so it can be a lot of fun seeing what kind of zany builds other trolls like yourself have put together.
