I was working a shift at Walmart and I saw a guy wearing an outrun-styled Solaire shirt, so I yelled "Praise the Sun" to him

We both raised our arms high in the air

It's the simple things that make me happy

Watching someone play through DS1 for the first time is almost as good as playing for the first time.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 12:18 PM PST

I forced my friend to try DS1 and after yelling at me after dying to the taurus demon for the 13th time she finally killed him and now is hooked. Watching someone enjoy this game is a cathardic experience.

Just something wholesome I remembered and want to share

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:08 PM PST

I was replying to a post on the Dark Souls 2 subreddit, where a redditor asked how fun (or unfun) was our very first jolly cooperation. The following will be pasted right from there:

"I don't remember my first time helping, but I do remember my first time being invaded. It was in the original Dark Souls, 1.0, when I was a complete noob, everything killed you, the helldrake was bugged and roasted you whenever it pleased and I was afraid of literally anything that moved.

Some guy invaded me right next to the hallway that brings you to Andre's bonfire. Since I didn't have a gesture that meant "please don't hurt me", I spammed Bow over and over again, hoping he'd understand. He was ready to attack, but since I wasn't stopping my relentless bowing, he stopped dead in his track. Then he left me two items. They were the Black Knight Sword and the Black Knight Shield. I was squeeling like a little girl and spammed literally every joy-expressing gesture I had. Then he waved and killed himself, gifting me with an additional 12k souls. What unironically kills me about this is that I forgot to look at his username and back then I didn't know how to check for players you met on console, but I still remember that player so fondly and I wish I could find him so I can say thanks. I NEVER stopped using those weapons, they carried me right until the end of the game."

While it's true that I just wanna share a wholesome story, I lowkey hope the player I'm talking about will read this post, because even after so many years I'm still really thankful and wish he could see this.

After beating Demon’s Souls I can officially say that DS1 is the best souls game

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 12:08 PM PST

This obviously just my opinion but I recently beat Demons Souls remake. It was the only souls game I hadn't played since I didn't have a PS3. Although I really enjoyed the game and all souls games I can never quite get the feeling I got from playing DS1 for the first time. My main gripe with the other games is how they have those hub areas. I think the best part of DS1 is how you are just sent to FireLink Shrine and can start walking to all the other places. It may seem like a little thing but that and the fact you can't bon fire warp in the beginning is such a crucial thing to bring you that feeling of being on an epic journey. I pray that if Elden Ring ever comes out it will have a similar set up. The other thing that I miss most about DS1 is the fighting speed is slower and more methodical. I was really happy the Demons Soups remake had that same style with such beautiful Graphics.

    Qualaag's sword afterimage.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 05:52 PM PST

Over 200 hours later i just noticed that Qualaag's sword leaves an after image shaped like a spider web. Was this common knowledge or am I an idiot? Also I confirmed and the Fury sword also leaves a similar smaller after image you can see it clearly here https://youtu.be/O_IUyl-7SUA at 00:50.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:48 PM PST

So, I'm certain that this story is not unique to me at all, but I wanted to share.

I'm currently on my first playthrough of Dark Souls. (Remastered on PC, if it matters, but hey). Internet here kind of sucks, so I spend around 1/3 of my time online, and most of the rest in hollow form, because I'm too cheap to spend the humanity to reverse it.

I just ventured into the Duke's Archive for the first time, and after Seath kidnapped me I turned human and kindled the bonfire. I had been slowly working my way around up through the area, killing all the bleeping crystal soldiers and avoiding the magic from the friggin' Channeller a floor or two above me, when the notification pops up that I had been invaded. I begin panicking a bit internally; I am new, and therefore still suck at PvP, so I figured it was a matter of time before a red phantom turns the corner and hands my butt to me. Instead, from down the hall, he waves me down, and promptly turns his back to me.

It was such a small thing - a gift of a bit of extra humanity, a friendly wave - but it really is cool. This community's amazing. So, wherever you are, if you see this, thanks.

You know how Dohmall of Zena has a Welsh accent?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 03:59 AM PST

Well, last night I had a dream that Dohmall got upset about something and began cursing in vaguely Welsh-accented gibberish.

    That's it

Decided to attempt a SL1 run for the first time yesterday. I'm at O and S. Wish me luck

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 03:58 AM PST

So far it's not going too bad, the only boss that gave me trouble was Quelaag, but that's also cause I decided to fight her much earlier than intended.

I've arrived at Anor Londo. O and S are in my opinion the most challenging boss fight in the whole souls series, and I've only soloed them once.

    So here we go.

Is he cheating or is this an in-game feature?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 09:37 PM PST

Im trying to invade as a dragon spirit but this one guy keeps one shotting me without touching me at all. He just kind of lunges forward and my health bar depleats. He doesn't even have to be close to me. He's holding a weapon in one hand but it doesn't seem like he is using it. What is he doing?? I'm just trying to get dragon scales but he won't stop doing this. He just messaged me saying he'll only leave me alone if I can identify what he's doing.

[semi-serious] Why are dex builds a joke?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:26 PM PST

I'm not exactly new to the souls games but I wouldn't call myself a souls-veteran yet, and as I was watching DS content on youtube, I heard many jokes about dex builds. Why is it kind of a meme? I'm a PVE player, maybe this is why I don't get the joke fully? I'm curious.

    Dragon bone fist

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 06:45 PM PST

I'm pretty excited about making this weapon but not sure about the how. I made my cestus +10 and I know I have to get to the giant blacksmith. What do I have to do once I get there? Also, how likely is it for me to safely get there when I don't know where I'm going? Would it help if I threw on my slumbering dragon ring?

    First Time Play through

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 01:04 AM PST

Hey guys! Fixing to play through Dark Souls for the first time. I've played Dark Souls 3 and a small amount of 2. I was going to buy Dark Souls 2 but decided I would play 1 first, and then play 2. Any advice? Are there any builds that make a first play through easier?

Made it to Anor Londo, boys.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 08:48 AM PST

Most accomplished I've ever felt making it to Anor Londo with no estus and with a sliver of health left over from the Iron Golem fight. Tarkus for the win, I swear.

I started playing DS1 and I want to earn platinum trophy (ps4), so I need some help with the achievements.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 01:02 AM PST

My question is should I just finish it once to unlock the story based trophies or is there any trophy that I must unlock them in the first playthrough, because in NG+ is more difficult?

I trawled through some bad user reviews of the Souls games...

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:02 PM PST

I spent literally minutes reading through some 1-star/negative reviews of the 3 DS games on Google, Amazon, and Steam. Some of my favourites I came across were "Is even a poorest game than Pokemon Sword and Shield" (DS1), " I like a challenge but right off the bat without any way to defend yourself or dodge you face a creature that will kill you in one attack and you cannot evade it or get away when it is about to attack " (DS2), and "bad game it is the worst game fortnite is better" (DS3).

I made a vid documenting my findings, if anyone fancies checking it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXKp3oCfK9w

What are your favourite bad reviews you've read of the games?
