Afraid a fellow redditor went hollow

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 11:56 PM PST

If you've been on this subreddit for a while then you've probably seen the few posts about a 57 year old playing Dark Souls for the first time. He had gotten to his 6th day of playing and enjoying this beautiful game we all know and love. However it has been 125ish days since his last post. If you're reading this now, I hope you haven't gone hollow. Praise the sun!

    The sun is gone...

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 12:38 PM PST

I messed up big time. It's my first playthrough and I even knew ahead of time Solaire's fate. So I went ahead and spent the thirty humanity to save him. Only to not realize that I had to open the door to kill the bug that would make him go insane. I assumed that I had already prevented his fate by killing the ones in front. So when I took that way as a shortcut I saw crazy sun boi and knew I fucked up. Not a happy Thanksgiving.

Is anyone able to walk through the entire game world in their mind as well?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:43 AM PST

I have played this game so many times for so many hours, that I can just sit down and walk my way through all parts of the DS1 game world as I please. It's a lot easier that way, lemme tell ya.. I don't have any other game where the world is imprinted in my memory in such detail. Aside from repetition, I suppose brilliant level design and art style are to blame as well.

    Can anyone relate?

So I finished ds1 a few days ago and bought the next 2 games because of the 75% discount. Should I just play ds2 then ds3?

What is your least fav area in Dark Souls and why?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 11:30 PM PST

I started playing dark souls for the first time around the start of September and have just finished the catacombs. I fucking hated the catacombs. The skeletons are little shits and boring to look at as well as fight. Aside from those personal gripes my issues with it are all to do with my build i think. I like to make shit hard and also to roleplay so since I'm playing as a sorcerer I put all my points into intelligence and am only just starting to put points in attunement and faith. i have not touched my health or stamina or strength. This means enemies that constantly come back to life suck because I have a limited amount of hits (magic) and am very easily killed. I'm a your classic glass canon. Every encounter with a new necromancer was a desperate race to find him before I ran out of spells. Blighttown on the other hand despite it's rep didn't bother me. I actually enjoyed it. I spent loads of time there farming for souls to buy more spells. This made me wonder what other places people loved or hated that were unusual or less talked about?

I seriously am about done with this game. (Ornstein and Smough)

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 04:15 PM PST

So, I'm just getting into the game, and have absolutely loved it, up to this point. I've been stuck on these fuckers for 8 hours, and I don't know what to do. Every single time I try to hit one, I either miss, or get fucked by the other one. I'm using a Knight shield, Black Knight sword, and the silver Knight set, if that helps. I'm also level 50. Any advice is seriously, seriously appreciated. Will answer questions if needed. Thanks!

EDIT: got em. Thx for the advice everyone!

    Another question

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 07:16 PM PST

In dark souls 3 there is a class / weapon set that to put it simply its faster that the enemy can react making any non boss easy to kill. Is there a class or weapon that gives same or similar effect (the massive attack speed that just seems at time like you are cheating)

    just beat Sen’s Fortress...

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 02:47 PM PST

throughout my Thanksgiving break i've been continuing my first DS play through after taking a break for a couple of months.

i've gotten through Blighttown, the swamp, etc. over the past couple of days without stressing out too much. however, Sen's...

i spent so much time on the lower part just falling, falling, and falling some more. until finally i found the bonfire.

after finding it, i did some very light exploration and found the Iron Golem's arena. i died the first time, but i was stubborn and instead of exploring the rest of Sen's i just wanted to beat the Iron Golem. after a couple of tries, i beat it! Anor Londo looks amazing, but i went back to the Sen's bonfire in order to explore some more.

overall thoughts: pyromancer is a fun class. i love this game.

    Help a weakling..

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 02:07 AM PST

Hi! I bought dark souls on the switch in 2018 played it until the gargoyles (died a lot), and then paused so I could play Mh XX for a few weeks but never made it back in the game since. Now I want to dive back in and complete it , and the question is, should I start a New game and take it slow again since I don't remember much, or pick up where I last stopped?🧐

    Critical hit builds

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 01:45 AM PST

I don't mind the backstabbing at all in Dark Souls, but when i try pvp at level 120 everyone is using some kind of great club/dagger/black knight weapon and hornet ring build that will almost one shot you. People really will spend more time in loading screens than pvp because their fights last about 5 seconds.

Also would SL 80 be a good level for invasions where this doesn't happen as much?

My most fun run yet has left me feeling a little guilty, but it's just so good.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 06:06 PM PST

I saw in a video that there's a soul duplication glitch and I just had to try it. Made a sorcerer and got to it asap, using this glitch on every soul I could. It's been so fun to have so many levels and souls. It's fun to be overpowered without working for it. Feels kinda empty though. You could say it felt hollow. Fun but not as rewarding. Totally worth a try though if you're looking to play however you want.
