    Breath of fresh air

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:12 PM PDT

I've beaten DS3 at least 20 times and same with bloodborne, Almost beat DS2(Gave up at shrine of Amana) and beat sekiro once, I have loved every from soft game and now I'm playing through DS remastered and omg this one is awesome, it's such a breath of fresh air and I love how you can pick and choose your paths instead of going in one straight line for the whole game(another thing I loved about sekiro) I also love how unforgiving it is, the combat actually challenges you and the bosses are just awesome to fight, sorry to waste any of your time but I just wanted to share my thoughts

Just got into painting minis and the first ones I painted were Ornstein and Smough. I like how they came out and would love to post more dark souls figures in the future.

Just got the black knight halberd after farming it for 30 minutes

I accidentally made this game easy

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 04:11 AM PDT

So I've played through the whole series only one time and pretty much just went basic with my load-out (highest dmg I could possibly find+shield)

I've restarted DSR and wanted to do a cleric build but realised oh shit there's just no way to do good damage without going back into melee classes OR you can go down the sorcery path.

So me still being quite the noob who'd never sorcererized before decided to try that and - oh my good god - this is like switching on god mode.

I was so hyped to fight O&S on my own for the first time and with the bellowing dragoncrest ring it was like having the element of surprise on a toddler while wielding a ******ing nail-decorated baseball bat. It literally just takes like four hits of soul spear to kill Smough alone and then the rest of the fight is straightforward.

I guess my point is it's kinda funny to see the difference between my last playthrough where every boss post-Gaping Dragon would have me cheering like a madman, but I gotta say it's taken a lot of the fun out of the game if I'm just gonna bitch slap the rest of my enemies like they're not even there.

(P.S. I'm very open to hearing cool/interesting builds as it's still something I'm just learning)

    Moonlight sword

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:12 PM PDT

Yo, can someone spare me a moonlight greatsword please? After almost 3 hours(that honestly felt like an eternity) of trying to cut seath's tail off, i just want to kill him and never have to come to this place ever again in this playthrough. Its funny that cutting it with every other character i made was easy as fuck. Im on pc, ptd edition

    About curses

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 12:20 AM PDT

If you die cursed, are your souls lost? Because I cannot find my bloodstain where I was cursed.

I believe using a long sword + shield is the best start you can have for your first play through.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 03:04 PM PDT

Now this is not based on effectiveness or build optimization, but experience optimization. When you are using the S&B it gives you a very all-around experience. It lets you block, parry, dodge, and you aren't too heavily punished for your mistakes. At the same time it forces you to learn the game. No cheese strats, no over powered weapons, etc. You have to simply play the game and focus.

Does anyone else feel like this is correct? Every first play through I've done has been with this set-up and watching people pick up the Zweihander for their first play through is just disheartening to me.

What is the designed way to beat Capra Demon?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 11:57 AM PDT

I think this fight is supposed to teach you how to roll. The problem is, the way the arena is designed along with the fucking dogs its very difficult to do any rolling. This fight kicked my ass over and over. Almost every time I would get trapped and die right away.

I finally managed to beat it using full elite knight armor set + wolf ring. I didnt roll at all, I just abused the fuck out of the stairs and did plunging attacks until he died. At first I was medium rolling but the area is so tight it felt impossible to get any rolls off.

If the goal was to teach me rolling, well that didn't work at all. Bigger arena without the stairs would have been a better teaching tool imo.

Given the Revelations Dark souls 3 gave us [LORE]

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 02:45 AM PDT

Understanding what we see in Dark souls 3 with the giants (and what i'm sure dark souls 2 was trying to tell us but i can't understand) Is that the Dark Souls 1 Anor Londo Blacksmith Giant was a Slave.

I don't think he speaks like this because he is stupid, rather ignorant instead. (Think Slaves in USA not being allowed to be taught to read)

We see in Dark 1 Gough speaks perfectly.

It's odd to see that theres been a giant slave plotline the entirety of the games(vendrick said he feared something the giants had) any ideas why we keep locking these dudes up?

    Advice for a beginner?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 05:41 PM PDT

I'm mostly a lurker on reddit but I really need help here. The only areas I have access to is new Londo ruins, blight town, and sifs fight. Am I just missing a path or something because I can't seem to get any progress in any of these areas. I've also grinded for a bit and still no luck. Any advice?

    DS remastered online

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 02:18 AM PDT

Hello. Recently i started a new run of DS remastered on my PS4. In the past days i was playing offline because i don't have ps plus (and no, i don't have other accounts with that) but, suddenly, yesterday i was able to play online even with no plus. I could clearly see ghosts, blood and messages from other players. I'm really confused.

I’m a podcaster and huge fan of dark souls. Always been into the lore more than anything. I normally cover weird topics. I want to cover the relationship between religion/philosophy and souls lore. Are there any good sources?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:47 AM PDT

I've seen prolly every Vaati and Ashen Hollow lore video and don't know if anyone has time stamps to anytime they specifically relate it to real world religions?

Also what other sources are there for the relationship between anything from name etymology to real world religions.

For example how Manus is possibly partly named after Manu the first man in Hinduism.

Or how the system of cycles in souls is very similar to Mayan or Hindu cycles.

    It's done

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 05:19 PM PDT

My first time playing Dark Souls and I knew this fight was coming and that it would be painful, but damn I didn't expect it to be so painful.

I played this on a livestream and it took me so many hours and had to fight them during multiple days, they kept kicking my ass and I was slowly but surely losing my mind, thinking I would never beat them.

I'm not a great player so my strategy was just basically brute forcing it, I had only gotten to the 2nd phase probably 3 out of way too many tries, I was beggining to lose hope, until it finally worked.

This boss kicked my ass in so many ways that once I was done I almost started crying I was genuinely exhausted from it.

    And now to lose my mind with the rest of the game ;--;

How was your first experience with this boss? Hope you had a better time than me.

    Have a good day :)
