So i finally beat the fume knight. And....used a brightbug for the first time. Is it cheating?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 12:30 PM PST

I fought him probably 15 times turtling and trying to equip the highest anti fire and damage resist i could. Even used the mage guy to help as well...and nothing. I couldnt do it. So today after five defeats i decided to try doublehanding the pursuers great sword(my highest damaging weapon) and just roll. Immediately i did better. Like loads better. So, secon time around i buffed my weapon with dark and then used a brightbug and started doing 1000 damage a hit. Finally beat him with literally a sliver of health. But even though im elated, i also feel like i robbed myself by using the brightbug. Anyone else feel that way?

    Oh well. On to alonne!

    Souls series survey for university

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 03:40 AM PST

    Link to the survey here

Hello everyone! I'm conducting a small survey about Souls series at my university, and one of its parts focuses on player feedback and the influence it has on them. I made a small questionnaire, it only has 5 questions, so it will take no more than a few minutes. Every submission is greatly appreciated!
Also, if you have any good videos\articles speaking about people's personal experience with the series and their perspective, you're welcome to share them in the comments or in my DMs. There is also a section in the questionnaire for telling your own story if you'd like to. Thank you very much for your help! I'll post the results when I'm done.

When a boss kills you enough times that you have to look up a guide, but the content creators just have to flex their skill talking about easy this boss is and how big a pushover he is.

F*** you and your bell-hammer Velstadt!

    🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂

"jUsT pArrY", "JuSt pArRy, iT's eAsY!" PARRYING IS AN ART! Not some button you press with guaranteed 100% success like it's Lord of the Rings 3 the game, it requires perfect timing down to the millisecond! (Don't believe me? Videos teaching this have to playback their clips at .25 speed! Literally showing you frame-by-frame when to hit! THAT is timing it to the millisecond)

This is why other gaming communities call us masochists, letting our bosses bend us over and have their way with us until we learn to love it. Man is this a rough first play through. Can't wait to try Dark Souls 1 and see how that trip goes and hope the hit boxes are better.

    🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂

Now if you excuse me I've got a real-time strategy game to play, because it seems I've now got a lot of salt to trade.

Friendly invader? Thank you man, that was awesome.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 03:14 AM PST

Guys i just bought this game couple days ago, i am a begginer basically. I finished DS3 os playstation4 and loved it, so i bought DS2 to check it, despite what some people say that is not good and stuff. I am playing DS2 on steam btw.

So. I was invaded in Heides Tower. But invader instead of killing me(and i am so bad at PVP) dropped me 28 Souls of a Grat Hero! Wtf, its 20k each of that souls! I dont know what just happened and i dont remember nickname but man THANK YOU so much. You were awesome.

PS. This game is suprisingly alive, theres ghostst, messages and blood literally everywhere i go.

PS2. I think i like this game even more than DS3, its really great. Whats the deal with all that negative stuff around it? I wish i bought it earlier.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 09:01 AM PST

Just spent the last 6 weeks mastering dark souls 1 (4 playthrus ) . Think I'm a slow learner as every boss cost me insane amount of tries . Dark souls 2 seems harder 🤔

Does this game have 8 directional movement even without lock on??

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 05:57 AM PST

I can't slightly adjust the running direction with the right stick, it feels like there is some kind of movement deadzone idk. I am playing on pc with xbox one controller, I used to play this game on PS4 but I don't remember this shit lol

Help me settle a DS2 discussion, and let me know if I'm crazy!

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 12:39 PM PST

I was recently talking to another Souls fan - OG, hardcore, played since DeS, yada yada. I mentioned to him that one of my proudest gaming achievements was getting through the Shrine of Amana in Dark Souls 2 as a melee character before they nerfed it.

He wasn't aware of this nerf, and it made me question if it even happened! So can any OG DS2 players give any insight and/or refresh my memory?

My memory: Shrine of Amana was a broken-ass cheap-ass dirty old turd upon release, specifically towards the end of the area where you get sniped by a handful of mages while you traverse an open, watery area with no cover. As a sword & board character, it was nearly impossible because you got nailed by 5+ mages with heat-seeking missiles, and your defensive options were Jack and Shit. A few weeks after release, I believe FROM nerfed the trek by removing a couple of those mages and making their magic missiles a bit less accurate.

Does anyone else remember this? BONUS QUESTION: If you do, do you agree that it should've been nerfed?

People who invade in the Shrine of Amana should be tried for war crimes

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:15 PM PST

That is all. Now to slowly go through the area again and hope I don't get invaded again

    Power stance?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 01:12 PM PST

I have absolutely no idea how power stances work, is there a way to check or is it if there the same weapon type? For example I want to use two reapiers, a dark one and the chaos one you buy in huntsman corpse from the man in the chair. Is that possible?

    Sorry for any spelling mistakes

INT heavy sorcerer, if I make him a hexer in NG+, will I fuck up my Soul Memory?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 01:07 PM PST

First time playing DS 2. I absolutely love it, I've talked about my first impressions in a previous post.

So I'm going for a 50 int sorcery build (bonus question: is going to 60 int worth it?). I'm thinking of making him a hexer in NG+.

Thing is this damn soul memory mechanic. I already bought the agape ring and plan to stay at the 2m, 2,5m meta. I'm worried that I won't have enough souls to upgrade all the new gear I will need and buy all the spells. Should I just start a new character if I want to play a hexer?

For what it's worth I have thousands of hours in DS 1 and DS 3. I also like to pvp and co-op a lot. I've been invaded a lot, which made me happy to see there is still a active community. Having played magic users of all schools on DS 1 and DS 3 I'm also pretty happy that sorcery is very viable in pvp. I've killed all invaders but one. Soul spear is fucking brutal and magic is not as easy to dodge as in the other games of the series, or at least I had really bad invaders.

Botc maybe a lot more powerful than we think !

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 04:12 AM PST

Now it's pretty common Knowledge on how DS1 takes place , you either rekindle the flame or you let it die . However one thing that always remains constant is that you always HAVE to scarifice the Lord Souls in the Lordvessel to proceed to the Kilm of the first flame and therefore they get released back into the world to influence the next ages and take on new hosts/entities and this presumably keeps going on and the Lord Souls weaken overtime (backed by the description of the Lord Souls in DS2 that you get in NG+ or by the bonfire pumpkin thing). This means that you ALWAYS need the lord souls in order to get access to the first Flame.

However, here is the kicker and the thing thats been bothering me for a long time, the lord vessel is Destroyed in DS2 and there is very solid evidence that Vendrick did this in order to break the cycle. So by the end , Botc has all the Lord Souls with him and he does not have to give them up or sacrifice them ! And backed by the amazing crown expansions that we got I think the Devs were trying to hint at the fact that the 'Leave the thrown and exist outside the cycle ending' was what they were intending to deliver.

So what this means is that not only does Botc have All the Lord Souls (atleast what's left of them) but also a way to avoid Hollowing and live forever ! Not to forget The MILLIONS OF SOULS he gathered on his journey !

This imo also raises a serious red flag as to how future Linkings were done ? Would love to hear all of your theories below !

P.S: haven't played DS3 yet but from what I've have read online it doesn't seem like DS3 accounted for DS2 a whole lot and I recently got into The Souls Games (Around April) so I apologize if this topic was already broched but I couldn't find a definitive answer or atleast a discussion about this anywhere !

    Dark Souls 2 2020

    Posted: 22 Nov 2020 05:27 AM PST

    Hey folks,

I remember the meta back then was SL 150/200 with SM 2-3 million.

Is this still the case or are people just maxing out SL and SM since at some point we will all end up in same tier if we keep playing (unless you use the agape ring ofc which imo is a waste).

I okayed the game religiously when the original and STOFS came out and interested in another complete playthrough for 2020.

    Thanks.
