Shrine of Amana, Replaying Years Later

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 10:20 AM PDT

So... replaying DS2 years later on XBox One. Reached Shrine of Amana. Using a melee character this play through, rather than a sorcerer.

    Shrine of Amana...

Still the most beautiful area in the game.

    Still sucks balls.

    That is all.

Let's talk about a nearly unspoken of enemy.

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 09:29 PM PDT

I just about never see any chatter for the Imperfects. Seriously, when I first saw them, I immediately thought, "What is that?!".

They are so surreal in the spot they're located in, which is where you exit the palace from a Shrine of Amana-like location. It's such a strange contrast to everything that appears in the game beforehand.

Their attacks deal Dark and Lightning type damage, a strange rarity among dragon-type enemies. And it seems that they tried to recreate Kalameet and mucked it up badly. Were these also Aldia's rejects? The fact that they can drop Petrified Dragon Bones and Dragon Scales raise further questions.

What other enemies do you feel that are never discussed more?

On another note, the Imperfect's design made me think of the Zards from AdventureQuest, a flash web-based browser game from the early 2000's.

Dark Souls 2 gaining more points with me

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 09:14 AM PDT

After about a year hiatus from Blue smelter demon bs, and beating DSR, DS3 and bb a few more times, I decided to return to the bastard child of the series. Finally smashed Smelty 2.0 and found that FIRE inside me once again, when it comes to playing a new Souls game. For me, this is the only entry I have not officially beaten, as I do not consider a game defeated until it and all dlc has been conquered. Now this Fume knight is having its way with my poor hollow existence. But nontheless, I am enjoying the hell out of it all. These truly are the greatest games ever made. Hopefully by Christmas next year I can experience Demons souls remake, due to the impossibility of obtaining a ps5 anytime soon. Cheers

(SPOILERS) I finally had my epiphany

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 07:10 AM PDT

Hey Souls fans. I quit this game yesterday at the Belfry Gargoyles. I came back, and had an epiphany during that fight: don't ever lock on, ever. I haven't locked on once since, I sidestep EVERYTHING! And use a smaller weapon that can stun lock. Also pump ALL of your points into ADP early. I leveled everything else and was WTF my guy still sucks. Found the first Soul Vessel and said see ya. 38 ADP seems to be the cap, I chug Estus like a desert pyromancer, recover from animations like a boss, and just feel like a badass now (BTW, who thought it a good idea to make one stat OP?). you can try pumping some into atunement but I didn't see nearly the results, and I'm just stunlocking everything. My next run through I'll try a Hexer or something. But yeah, if you are struggling just unlock, don't roll, sidestep. Against bosses only hit two or three times each so you still have stamina to dodge out of the way. Scorpioness Wannabe Quelaana was a fucking breeeeeeeze, I think she hit me once, so easy to side step once you are locked off. DSII = Don't ever lock on.

If I play mods, will my ban be account wide or character wide?

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:16 AM PDT

Basically the title. I heard that playing mods gets you banned but I want to play mods with one character but keep playing online with my other characters.

    Old Whip Cleric

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 10:52 AM PDT

Made my first cleric today. Went with the usual petrified stone at creation, and got the old whip for the first. Feels like I need to make a part of my build now. Wondering if that's a bad idea?

I'm really struggling trying to enjoy this game

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 05:33 AM PDT

I'm playing through SOTFS for the first time. I've played and beaten every souls game except for demon's souls cuz I don't have a PS3. I got DS2 despite everything everyone says about it. One of my friends who loves DS2 says the hate is exaggerated. I'm in the forest of fallen giants right now, which to my knowledge is the first area (unless I'm going thr wrong way like Catacombs in DS1). I am getting my ass beat and haven't even gotten to the first boss yet. Is there anything I'm doing wrong maybe? I started with a DEX build. The enemies are all extremely spammy, and instead of fair difficulty like the other games. It's just 5 enemies thrown into a room together. Any tips cause I really really wanna beat this game but I'm really struggling to enjoy it.

Absolutely gutted. Can’t stop screaming in anger

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 01:42 PM PDT

I haven't been this angry since the days of playing MW2 or a Moba. I'm at the area after heides tower with the big ship, and I just keep fucking dying. What's so frustrating is I'm not even fighting the the boss (which I presume is behind the fog on the ship) I'm just dying to random enemies trying to find my way to the merchant. I'm lost. It's not that I don't know where to go, but for the first time in my life, I genuinely feel lost. When I first found the merchant I sold everything and then died not long after. When I tried getting my souls back I was viciously combo'd by the undead pirate cocksucker and there goes 25k souls. I lost my voice, my head hurts, and now me and my brother are on bad terms because he lives with me. I knew I Shouldn't have went with an intelligence build

Game keep booting me back to title screen...

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 12:31 PM PDT

So i've bought this game today in an effort to finally be able to say ive completed all the games in the Dark Souls trilogy, and everything was going well while i was in Things Betwixt.

The moment i step into Majula the game says it has a "problem trying to save" and gives me a pop up to try saving again or quit back to the title screen. No matter how many times I pressed try again it didn't work, so now I was doomed to quit back to the title screen. I thought this was maybe a one time thing, but it no joke happens every two to three minutes in game, and while i'm still enjoying the Forest of the Fallen Giants area as much as I can it's getting demoralizing.

I've tried everything i can think of, restarting the game, redos loading it, restarting my pc, disconnecting from online, etc. Other games work and my graphic card is up to date, can anyone help me out with this problem please?

Any suggestions for a faster hitting weapon for a strength build? (PvE)

    Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:43 AM PDT

Ancient dragon was a nightmare with the slow Greatsword and I would be interested to know if you can get some faster ones that still do good damage. By faster I mean anything faster than a zwiehander and it would be used for PvE only.

My First Serious Playthrough of SOTFS: The Story So Far (Part 2)

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:43 PM PDT

    Link to Part 1

Helllo again, Redditors. I've made quite a bit of progress so far on SOTFS since the last time I posted here, detailing my journey regarding my first serious playthrough. There was a lot of pain and changes. So without further ado, let's get going!

Lost Bastille 2: Electric Boogaloo (Deaths: 2):

    > Oh boy here we go, approaching the Bastille from the back door.

    > Luckily I was told that I can free-aim my magic with the Binoculars. Sniper, no sniping.

    > Head down the ladder to get greeted by 10,000 fucking dogs.

    > I look behind me to see my jacked ex-boyfriend coming back for revenge.

    > I run away to battle the dog legion, finish them off with my magic, and turn around to find the Pursuer bailed on me. Won't respawn unless I sit at the bonefire.

    > Unlock le gate, sit at le bonfire. Have to fight the dog legion again, nearly get killed. Pursuer despawns again.

    > Not knowing how to get to the enemy drops on top of the wooden watchtowers, I foolishly try to drop down below. Miss my jump. Die to gravity.

    > Now I'm mad. I ain't gonna battle 10,000,000 dogs and waste half my Sunny D sips just to fight Swole Knight, so I go on a Doggo Genocide.

    > They're all dead. Now I can fight Magic Man in peace. I've since mastered his dodge and parry windows so he goes down without much trouble.

    > I continue through the bowels of the Bastille. Get hugged by exploding mummies.

    > See a well. Knock down the rock. Up comes a cage with three mummies ready for a foursome.

    > (I am not a necrophiliac shut up)

    > I head into this big-ass treasure room only to spot a Ninja stalking me from the ceiling.

    > Head upstairs to the mummy rave and free a crazy wizard from his little BDSM predicament.

    > Takes one look at his wares. Now I'm bummed because I really want to be a Hex Giiirl (Hex Man?) and I'm gonna put a spell on youuuu

    > Do some exploring around the slammer. Take one look outside towards Sinner's Rise.

    > What the fuck is a Forlorn?

    > Why am I dead?

    > Man, these mummies are more explosive than a Gender Reveal Party.

    > Find a secret balcony. Excited for treasure! Instead I get greeted by Pursuer again.

    > I know all your tricks. Begone, thot.

    > Mildly satisfied, I head on to the Sex Dungeon.

    Sinner's Rise (Deaths: 0):

    > *Funky Elevator Music*

    > Huh, I can summon Lucatiel here. Mmm, why not? I heard you have to summon her to progress her quest for some reason...

    > Boy am I glad that I summoned Lucatiel because I was NOT expecting to fight Catdog again.

    > *Gets to the Lost Sinner arena* *Realizes I have no means of opening the doors to the lights* THEN WE WILL FIGHT IN THE SHADE.

    > Man, this prison is really kinky.

    > Fighting in the Shade actually works because Sinner and Lucatiel were too busy having a bitch slapping contest

    > Kill the Gimp with a Sword. I have now killed one of the four great soul bois. (Granted by this point I have, like, 400000 Soul Memory)

Lost Bastille 3, featuring Dante from Devil May Cry (Deaths: 3):

    > Since I didn't get to fight Ruin Sentinels I guess I'm gonna have to unstoneify the front door.

    > Getting attacked by 12 greatsword warriors really reminds me how much this game never really understood the fair difficulty of the other games, sometimes...

    > I get to the Sentinel fight and I immediately have PTSD flashbacks from one of my previous playthroughs that ended because I gave up on this fight. Like a bitch, a cracked and got a summon to help.

    > Here we go, Slendermen vs the Dastardly Duo

    > We won. Wow. Such goodness. Much skill.

    > Y'know I don't like how impossible illusory walls are to spot in this game without looking at the online messages. I also don't like how I can't attack or roll through them, but instead have to tap the interact button, which is especially annoying if there's a message right in front of the wall.

    > Well I'm just gonna head down this ladder to collect some fine treasuHRnGFXNGDNTF HOW MANY PURSUERS ARE THERE IN THIS DAMN PLACE

    > Stick a BBC into the wall face to unlock some bell tower.

    > Momentarily join the Bell Keepers out of curiosity and then get invaded by a player. Died because lag caused the player to hit me from several feet away.

    > Whatever, I'll come back here later. Gotta check out the rest of this place. I'll just open this door and- *rolls forward to hastily open the door and ends up falling off the wood platform behind it*

    > Whoever made this place is a dick.

    > Well, after a little stroll I basically found everything there is to find in this place. Just gonna go to McDuff and grind some enemies to upgrade and lev- Invaded by dark spirit Forlorn

    > Alright I'm getting my ass kicked but he's low just a few more hits

    > BNNBRJEBJDJPREPWR STOP DODGING MY SPELLS

    > FFUUUUUUUCCKCK YOUR INFINITE POISE YOU EMO-ASS PIECE OF

    > Okay I'm just gonna go back to the bell tower and clear it out.

    Belfry Luna (Deaths: 2):

    > I head inside and get invaded by another player. Some guy named **llow with a Lance. If you can see this, well played.

    > Unwilling to take any more chances with invaders or the upcoming boss that I know for a fact is another BS gank fight, I summon Glencour.

    > The Gargoyle fight ended up being pretty hairy. Almost died several times while Glencour was getting pounded in the ass nonstop. Managed to barely make it.

    > Ahhhh sweet bonfire. Oh, there's a ladder. Must be more treasu- *Looks down and sees a posse of dogs*

    > Get mauled to death by the dogs. Fuck this place.

    > Second try, running up the stairs to pick off the dogs while also avoiding the damn invader.

    > I'm not giving this invader a fair fight, not after that. Just pelt him with magic.

    > Finally, I'm done with this area...

    General Stuff Before Moving On:

    > I can't resist the temptation. Being a nerd is cool, but now I want to be an edgelord, so I bring a Soul Vessel to the Golden Girls and respec into a Hexer.

    > It's gonna take a soul or two to get all of those Hexes from Straid so I do some killin' in Bastille.

    > Fuck-me-in-the-Ass Forlorn is back for his Wednesday Usual. Third time's a charm?

    > YYYEEEEESSSS GET FUUUCKED

    > I upgrade my Boner Staff for its Dark Bonus.

    > To further increase my edginess, I concluded that I need a Scythe. So I suppose my next destination is Huntsman's Copse.

    Huntsman's Copse (Deaths: 8):

    > Get scammed by a Scientologist

    > Head into the tunnel and meet a fellow edgelord. He immediately takes an interest in me and gives me his clothes and a cool stick.

    > I buy Dark Orb from him so now I have 42 casts of Dark Orb.

    > Wander into a lovely, dark home.

    > Get assaulted by the poor

    > Head down below the ruins and find a bonfire

    > *Takes a good look at the item on top of the broken pillar* I can make that jump.

    > I can't make that jump.

    > Respawn, head up and try again. Miss, and now the only way to go is down into the cave.

    > Find Havel's pet lizard

    > Holy shit it drops 3 Large Shards per kill

    > May or may not have farmed it a few times

    > Okay, this time, I'm gonna make the jump.

    > I didn't make the jump.

    > Okay, FINALLY, I got the Lockstone.

    > I press on, beating up the Fat Man and his gang of hobos.

    > Make a right, step into the Serial Killer zone

    > I carefully take out the stalkers on my way to the big bridge

    > Across the bridge, I find a pesky Strength build. But is he a match for my powers of DAHHKNESSSS?

    > Enter the Thunderdome. Get slapped by Skeletons and die horribly.

    > Okay. That was annoying. I'll just carefully go through that again.

    > Fight my way back to the Thunderdome. Get smacked again, sent back to the bonefire.

    > Okay, fuck this boss! I'm just gonna rush back to the arena now.

    > WHAT THE FUCK I WAS RIGHT THERE ABOUT TO ENTER THE FOG HOW DID THESE ASSHOLES CATCH UP TO MEEEEE

    > FUUUCKCKCKKCK IT HAPPENED AGAIN THEY KEEP KILLING ME WHENEVER I TRY TO ENTER THE FOGGGG

    > IT'S MURDER TIME BOYS, I'M GONNA KILL THESE SONS OF BITCHES OVER AND OVER TIL THE COWS COME HOME! YOU WANNA SEE THE THUNDERDOME? I'LL GIVE YA THE GODDAMN THUNDERDOME.

    > You cuntbags look like discount tusken raiders I can't wait to count your coin when I'm through with y'all. I will spend all of your worthless souls on Vitality. Mark my fucking words.

    > The Cleansing has finished, but now I feel empty. To reignite my spark before I fight the Chariot again, I decide to explore the rest of the area.

    > Forlorn, give it a rest buddy. You're starting to become more persistent than the Pursuer.

    > *Sees a Rogue sitting on the roof* Ha, I can see you, bitch. Say hi to this arrow.

    > PULL THE LEVER

    > Wait what the hell where did this dog come from and why did two peasants appear out of nowhere?

    > I'm dead. I hate poor people.

    > Oooo a bonfire- *Door is locked* FROM I SWEAR TO GOD

    > Get invaded by that bitch, Roenna.

    > I now have the key. I go back and pop the bonfire and speak to the dumkopf who locked himself in there.

    > Explore the rest of the ravine to get more Sunny D and a sweet Boner Shard

    > Okay, now I'm ready. Bring it on, Chariot.

    > Fuck this two-headed pony. If this Skelebitch won't fight me like a fellow milk drinker I'll just pelt him with arrows (I got a Bow mainly because Dark Orb disappears after a short distance.)

    > Karma has me by the throat cuz I mistimed a dodge and got smacked back into a bottomless pit.

    > Thank god I don't have to fight anything on the way back.

    > Haha, the horse missed his jump

    > OH GOD I ALMOST DIED TO THE BONE BOYS

    > That run to the struggling horse was probably the most stress I've ever been through thus far.

    > Head up to the Good Hunter, who got a lot shorter the last time I saw him.

    > He tells me to fuck off. Now how am I supposed to get my Scythe?

    Grave of Saints (Deaths: 1):

    > Apparently the item you need to get the Good Hunter's attention is down in the pit. Time to get dirty.

    > Got that sexy cat ring. Barely survive the first fall. Attempted the second fall only to die even with full health.

    > Second try, I make sure to restore my Humanity

    > Delve into one of the shortest and most underwhelming areas in the game.

    > Get attacked by Jerry and the Boys. Shave off his stupid mohawk.

    > Meet Chef Remy, who calls me trash.

    > Do some collecting down under. Wondering where the Token is, I homeward bone back to the boss room to investigate.

    > Accidentally waste a second Lockstone on one of the drawbridges.

    > Realize that the Token is at the entrance to the Gutter. Oops.

    > Get the hell out of dodge because I ain't gonna do this til after Iron King.

    > Give the token to the Good Hunter and get my Great Scythe, infuse it with Dark, and now finally I am on the right path to becoming a true edgelord. (I do plan on replacing my Bone Staff with the Sunset Staff, but I foolishly spent all of my Twinkling Tits on Straid's Armor set before transitioning to a Hexer)

And this is where I stopped. Next time, I'm gonna head straight into the Bone Zone, maybe after I'm done getting my shit together in real life and breaking out of my procrastination habits. If you liked this, make sure to stay tuned for my future updates. Bring your friends! Bring your wife! I'll fuck her! Yeah, that's right, I'll fuck your wife! Because when you play Dark Souls 2, you get fucked six ways from Sunday!

    Adieu.
