Simple portrait, actually my older work but I thought it would be nice to share this one too. My DS character to commemorate my first playthrough as I fell in love with the game.

    Guys I'm about to finish

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:32 AM PDT

I recently got into Dark Souls about a month ago after someone told me to try it. I had never really played a game like it before so it took a while to get used to it but now here I am, standing in front of Gwyns fog gate. About to finish the game.

    Black Dragon Greedomeet

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:53 PM PDT

First time ds1 player here. I've reached Kalameet and by now I have come to accept losses (DS giving life lessons ftw). Anyway after 30 odd deaths, I've pretty much memorized every one it's moves and kinda know how to dodge every one of them. Got a good RNG where he did the standing flame attack for like 4 times in a row. And then when he was down to like 20% health he did that sweeping right to left flame attack. RNG couldn't get any better. Got excited and went for 4 hits instead of usual 3 with uchi. He had like 50 hp left, and he flew up and did that blanket fire thing that insta killed me. Greed gets me every time. Will probably get another good RNG for 30 more cycles. How do you guys deal with greed, the greatest boss in DS?

How the hell do people discover this games intricacies?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:50 AM PDT

Without a guide it must be a lot of trial and error.

Some quest lines are pretty obvious and seem to follow the chosen undeads progress through the game. But others, like discovering who murdered who by checking their loot drops etc.

Theres an insane amount of checking different areas, it must be like a needle and haystack for the people who discover these things.

My sanity keeps dropping as I play this game. I played this last for the Souls series.

    Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:42 AM PDT

I got Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin on a giveaway last 2018, which introduced me to the series. I can't play Dark Souls 3 and DS1 Remastered back then (can't afford to buy games) because I was still a student and my laptop can't handle DS3.

So I managed to buy a laptop during the covid crisis and got DS3 on a sale. I reached platinum recently and hot it around 112 hours.

So you get the idea, I'm not a newbie in this game. But damn. This game. It's draining my sanity. The boss are so easy for me. I killed the gargoyles, the capra demon, the gaping dragon, without any help from solaire or other summons. I'm used to exploring every corner of DS2 and DS3. But in this game, I can't hardly explore. It's either mobs of monster always kill me, or I get flung to the hill, or anything from the environment really kills me. I just reached blight town and I died so many times more than when I first played DS2.

I think I'm about to shove my sword to where the sun don't get praised.

    Thank you for reading.

How long after the release of the DLC until the first person played it?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2020 01:34 AM PDT

I'll be frank, if there was not the help of the internet I think I never would have found the entrance to the DLC. And it is pretty obscure alright. Does anyone know how long it took after the release for it to be found? And did From Soft hint at anything or just leave the players totally in the dark (as I'd reckon)?

Solaire of Astora- Did I do it right?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:47 PM PDT

    Hi everybody!

I'm new to the series...started it recently after probably a year or more of friends telling me to play Dark Souls, and I'm very glad I've started the series! I'm in the latter half of the game, and have taken some time to do some exploring and what not. The most recent boss I've finished is the Centipede Demon (I just call him Leggy Boi), and I got to the bonfire after it.

However, I'm adamant about the fact that I want to make sure I keep Solaire alive. I didn't actually properly start his quest until earlier today, as I apparently didn't finish the actual discussion with him that I was supposed to at the altar. This means I haven't spoken to him in Anor Londo yet, and therefore he isn't at that bonfire before Lost Izalith. I haven't actually entered Lost Izalith yet either.

Friends of mine have told me that, because Solaire isn't in Lost Izalith yet, I can go through and beat Bed of Chaos with no consequences, as long as I kill the parasite before Solaire gets to the bonfire outside of Lost Izalith. Despite the fact that I trust what my friends say, I am the type to screw things up, and it didn't make me feel any better to hear that there's a bug that makes Solaire go crazy anyway regardless of the steps you take.

Basically, my question is, am I actually good to go through and defeat Bed of Chaos without repercussions with Solaire, or is there a certain order of things I need to do to make sure it goes well? Thanks for the responses ahead of time. Praise the sun!

EDIT: I've checked some Wiki pages but it doesn't quite give me a clear answer, in case anybody asks.

    Should I Get DS2?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 07:34 PM PDT

So currently, I'm playing my first ever soulsborne game, DS3. I've been having so much fun with it and I'm definitely gonna be getting DS Remastered. But ive heard a lot of bad things about DS2, and especially with the fact that it lacks lore, is it worth playing?

    Any guides/tips for creating characters?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:35 PM PDT

So, I have never really put much into custom characters in any video game. Normally, I just choose the Astora noble, give him some black hair with a style I like and start my game, but I just saw a fan art of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII in Dark Souls 3 and now I really want to make him, Terra from Final Fantasy VI or Cecil from Final Fantasy IV in Dark Souls Remastered and play the game as them.

Does anyone have any tips for a beginner? Or some sort of guide? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Dark souls 3 armor

    Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:29 AM PDT

I'm playing my first play through as a warrior, I'm picking up so many different armor sets and pieces but I'm unsure what I should equip. I just want a solid set that will see me through a good portion of the game. I'm just about to enter cathedral of the deep. I'm starting to understand the stats and whatnot but it's quite overwhelming. I'm still rolling with some of the armor I started with. Any advice?

    Is there a possibility ...

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:22 AM PDT

that chosen undead never fought against Nito and Gwyn but with their avatars/illusions? Since the whole story is about a player being manipulated by the gods to continue Age of Fire, it would make sense if they really didn't fought against him.

I never played Dark Souls 2 and 3 so simple ''no'' or ''yes'' would be enough. But if answer is in the first DS than you can write whatever you want.

I hope I understand the lore and I didn't get wrong with something.

    Sorry for bad english :/

Holy crap - Hammers are awesome

    Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:34 AM PDT

A few weeks ago (when I started playing DS1), I decided to read up on the resistance wiki page to get a grip on which enemies have fire/lightning resistance, and have seen that very few have strike resistance. And most of the weapons that do strike damage are hammers and clubs.

Besides the fact that very few enemies are resistant to them, they look cool and the movesets are fun as hell.

Why is everyone in love with the Zweihander/Claymore or these pointy/slashy swords, when clubs and hammers beat the crap out of everything?

Dark Souls Platinum - is it worth it?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:18 AM PDT

Well, you guys know exactly what I am talking about.

I decided to go for the platinum and to be honest, I have no clue how to realistically approach this mission.

I created a new character and currently breeze through the game to kill all bosses (except Gwyn) to open up the world and come back to the areas later and explore all the stuff once I am totally overpowered.

I still miss a covenant, did early 4 kings on another character, and have no clue which one it might be.

There are a lot of pyromancies, spells and miracles. Are there any in particular that are hard to find?

I need to collect all rare weapons. What exactly does that mean? Cutting all tails? Having all boss weapons (on a single character?)?

What role do covenants play in this journey?

How do you manage to not lose your sanity during all of this?

I know there are guides and I could just google a lot of this stuff but i never approached these games like this. I did not Google anything and I dont think i will in the future. What I did was reading reddit, talking to friends and other players in general - i really like the approach without starting to google and relying solely on this awesome but sometimes troll-y community. For me this is part of tze game/experience and i wouldnt have it any other way.

Praise the sun and dont you dare go hollow.

    Dark Souls is Creepy

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 07:01 PM PDT

You guys ever just get chills progressing through certain areas? I finished DSR a few months ago and am now playing through DS2 but in both games I have gotten creeped by certain areas like New Londo and No Man's Wharf. I'll have to take a break and watch something light for a bit to shake it off. DS just seems to really catch the horror elements for me. It just makes me appreciate it even more because no other games have done that for me.

    Grinding humanity

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:26 PM PDT

Hi guys so basically I just wanted to know where you feel it is best to grind humanity? I stupidly kept offering humanity to the daughter of chaos and leaving the covenant unaware that it resets if I do that and ended up giving 30 humanity but not consistently. I'm trying to open up the shortcut by her to kill the chaos bugs? I can't remember what it was I was trying to kill but I'm trying to save solaire. I understand rats are the best to grind for humanity but just curious where you feel it drops best.
