Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:57 AM PDT https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EPtzsmGUYAANglQ.jpg Dark Souls 2 does a lot a things poorly, and it does a lot of things great! It's often touted that Dark Souls 2 was made by the incompetent B team and saw some development problems. This is generally an depressive understatement, considering it's "fought a losing battle" at the moment great concepts and design were cut down to poor implementation and polishing because it didn't just face some development problems - it got shorted of two years in development. "Flames of Old" is more than ambition, it's a masterwork in progress. Just promoting a guy that deserves the love, like he's giving Dark Souls 2 a lot of love that initially deserved it. He's doing great work (and already has done as a great contributor to Skyblivion). Check out the following link that'll rustle your Twinkling Titanite's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KPqGhSrGZ0&ab_channel=SunlightBlade Please follow Stayd to keep up to date with his progress! Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:04 AM PDT So, I beated DS2 on ps3 for the first time. It's been a fantastic experience, slightly affected by the fact that in 2020 the number of players is small and the system of matching based on soul memory is terrible. Most importantly, I wanted to play the DLCs. So, after reading online about SOTFS, the added content, the patched online matching, and the spawn of enemies changed, today I bought it. 20 euro, to learn, 2 hours later, that the version for PS3 has nothing but the DLCs and no other features. I feel a little bit betrayed, selling two products with the same name but different contents is simply wrong. 😢 Please, tell me that the PS3 version at least has an improved online matching. Otherwise it has been a complete waste of money. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:45 AM PDT This is the very first game I have ever got a platinum trophy on. It is really the first game I have ever attempted or cared to get a platinum on. My game save says it was 105 hours, but I also play while I'm working so there was a lot of time where I would put the controller down for about an hour. It feels good to get this and now it makes me want to platinum the other souls games. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 01:15 PM PDT Is something wring with servers or is it just me? I've been trying to connect for a couple of minutes and I can't. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:33 PM PDT Had an idea for a build where I swap out my entire armor set and two rings once I've reached a certain health threshold. I've already made a macro for it in AutoHotkey but it doesn't seem to work when I try to activate it in Souls 2. What might I be doing wrong? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:40 AM PDT This is probably really well known by now but I had no idea, so I'm here to let you guys know that this works, I hope this helps someone wanting to try out this weapon. [link] [comments] |
I can't stop using engraved gauntlets, somebody help pls. Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:01 PM PDT These things are amazing. RNG aside, these are probably the coolest source of free damage I've used in a game, and besides a slightly heavier weight than most gauntlets, and the small obstacle of a questline, there is no real downside to them that I can find. They apply 1.5× damage at a 5-15% chance per hit (varies for some reason) on all weapons, offering a free critical hit chance, but that doesnt seem to be all it affects. (Haven't tested much for numbers, this is Info I've taken from sources like fextralife and soulsplanner, hopefully I'm not misinforming at all, and correct me if so please). This seems to apply to every conceivable source of damage that you output, including but not limited to weapon attacks of any sort, damage dealing spells from every school of magic, bows, and even consumables like throwing knives and firebombs. This surprised me a lot, because not only does this affect melee builds, but spell heavy casters can benefit highly from using these as well. I've added these to every build I have that is capable, considering I skipped Pate and Creightons questline with some characters. They mesh well with a lot of armour sets, with the exception of a couple that I noticed (Syan armour is probably a notable one, haven't tried too much fashion souls yet). Darker armour sets are almost always good with them I've noticed so far. Powerstancing is highly viable I've found when using these. I've always found this mechanic to be neat, if not the most optimal damage and stamina-wise. I usually stay well away from powerstance for those 2 reasons alone, because even if it looks cool, sometimes the damage is not worth the stamina consumption for a certain weapon type. I've definitely changed my opinion since trying these out. Example is using an old character of mine who powerstances 2 falchions. I originally dropped the idea and 2-handed my most powerful falchion because I felt like the damage wasn't enough to justify my stamina use while using 2 of them. I wanted to test and see if the gauntlets could cause critical hits to proc on both hits of my PwS L1 attack with enough luck. It took a bit to get the result, but I heard the "squish" sound on both of the hits I'm fairly sure, and I definitely think both swords got the critical hit, because the numbers seemed to add up as well. Still not amazing damage, but much more viable considering the multiple hits while PwS'd. As I said, casters can take advantage of these as well, and any damage dealing spell has the same chances of producing a critical hit as any other weapon, although I haven't had the chance to test spells that hit multiple times yet (dark hail, soul geyser, blinding bolt, firestorm etc.) I'm curious to see if the effect is applied to every spell particle that hits, or if the crit just applies to the cumulative damage that results, so if anyone can answer that, it would be super helpful, otherwise I can test when I have the chance. While heavy for some mage type builds, a quick rearranging of armour or a few points of vitality are all that's needed for the possibility of free damage. Will test these out some more, but wanted to open a discussion on them, and see what weapons people like to use these with. Weapons that hit many times are a no brainer, but that 1.5× modifier would do some serious damage as well on something slow, but high damaging if ya proc the crit. Thanks for reading my novel on the subject, and correct me where I may be wrong, haven't done extensive testing yet tbf. I know these aren't new to the whole of the community, but they are new to me, so wanted to open it up as a topic for experienced players, and newcomers alike who've never heard of them to throw some ideas together, take care guys [link] [comments] |
I accidentally killed Ornifex the weaponsmith :((((( Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:02 AM PDT I cleared the area in front of her room in shaded woods a thousandtimes, but that one time i wanted to go in to meet her, I didn't clear the area. Short story: enemies came in, I thought it's a good idea fighting in there, killed her with an unintentional swing... I shall dive in a thousand seas of shame and sin. Is there a way to respawn her? What do I miss now if not? :((((((((((((( Note: It's my first run [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:06 AM PDT I had this argument with someone in a youtube comment section and I kind of want to voice it here. Essentially we were arguing about the world state of Drangleic. The other guy was saying that the Bearer of the Curse travels the land physically but I countered that it would be impossible and would make more sense if it was magical. I think DS2 is inferior design wise because the world doesn't line up like DS1 or DS3, but I feel like the world implies you're warping a lot more than between fires. A) You get to Things Betwixt after falling through a portal in a lake. B) You're specifically told in Things Betwixt that you're in a place between dimensions C) Most paths between areas see you traverse cylindrical rooms/ altars. The DLC's are behind portals like this. Huntsman's Copse and the Tower of Ganks are both accessed through the miracle room. There's also tunnels like the one to Drangleic castle which takes you from sunny afternoon to rainy night in twenty yards. D) Earthen Peak's elevator into the sky is like the fall to Things Betwixt in reverse. E) DS2 is after DS1 so the lordvessel being in place allows for warping, as well as opens paths previously blocked. Some possibly magical. Seems to me that all that suggests poor level design with a lore excuse that magic has led to truncated geography... I.e. Portals. This makes more sense than the argument "maybe Dark distorts reality" and "the Bearer is actually super fast." [link] [comments] |
I have become the ultimate sunbro Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:35 PM PDT I just got to Rank 3 in the Heirs of the Sun covenant. That's 3 games I have gotten the max rank in the Sunbro covenant, I have become the ultimate Sunbro. Praise the Sun! Now to get the 9 other items I need to get the platinum. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:45 AM PDT Can anyone help me out with the fume knight on PS4 please? I'm with the sunbro covenant if that helps [link] [comments] |
Question about NPC storylines and sin. Posted: 29 Sep 2020 04:57 AM PDT I've recently started a character with which I'm utilizing the Sinner's Sword for a faith build. Since that weapon gets a damage penalty for player sin and sin cannot be decreased if it's at 9 points or less I was wondering wether you gain sin for the following two instances: - Invading Licia with the Crushed Eye Orb - Killing Pate or Creighton at the end of their questline (could this be circumvented by only damaging one of them and having the other one landing the killing blow?) Do you intentionally despawn areas? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:37 AM PDT Do you intentionally despawn areas or do you intentionally avoid despawning as you feel it alters the experience? Personally I've only despawned areas where the run to the boss was particularly mob-filled. Huntsman's Copse, Iron Keep and the ruin sentinel room in Drangleic Castle for example. How about you? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 06:46 AM PDT So idk even know how many times I've played through Souls 2 and I've never seen any of the "phantom" enemies in the shade woods/forest actually drop their armour. Do they have just a stupid low drop rate? Ive seen the armour description in loading screens before talking about its for cowards and all that. The only piece I saw in the loading screen before was just the chest piece and maybe the helmet. [link] [comments] |
Is this approach to no death / no bonfire run viable? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 04:42 AM PDT I've put the game down for a couple years. I've got a game save about midway through NG+2 that is max level 834 with great armor/weapon selections and very high item counts. Would it be wise to finish NG+2 with this save and go for the illusory rings on NG+3? Even if just for the challenge. [link] [comments] |
