/r/DarkSouls - Modding Monday. Posted: 06 Sep 2020 11:11 PM PDT Welcome to the weekly Dark Souls mod announcement and discussion thread! Beware! Use of mods whilst connected to the internet can cause you to get banned from online play! For more information, or to continue the discussion visit /r/ModSouls Using mods (PC only!) to enhance or add new content to the Souls games is great fun! It is important, however, to understand that mods are against From's EULA/ToS, so there is a great risk of being banned when using them due to From's anti-cheat--which is deployed in most versions of the Souls games. Versions of the games where modding is safe due to no anti-cheat: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Versions of the games where modding carries a very high risk of being banned: Dark Souls: Remastered Dark Souls II Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Dark Souls III Our recommendations for safe modding *This advice is intended for first-time or relatively inexperienced modders who want to get into modding without risking a ban on their main Steam account. Basic Steps: Make a separate Steam account Use Steam's Family Sharing feature to provide your new account with access to your main Steam account's game library. Install games to be used with the new account in a separate directory. Once you've found your mods be sure to read (and follow) the mod author's instructions carefully prior to installation. Set Steam to "off line" mode. Install the mods and perform any necessary setup. Enjoy the fun and interesting experiences offered by mods! Be sure to remove all file components of the mod before going back online! Posted: 06 Sep 2020 03:09 PM PDT Wow. What a challenging fight. I don't think I would have managed solo if I didn't first burn down Ornstein with fireballs, but that in itself took time to learn the proper timing. I ended up eating some of his weaker thrusts (poise ftw) and trying to keep both of them within my sight. Got to Phase two with Smough 3 times. Twice I died by the thunder slam (once was bullshit because his charge dragged me to the fog door and then he immediately went into a slam before I got up) but eventually he too met his bitter end by my Claymore. This fight is literally 3 changes away from being perfect: Make Ornstein's lightning get blocked by Smough (or empower his next move) so it doesn't come out of nowhere, get rid of Ornstein's cross-map roller skating ability since it can clip on pillars and Smough's fat ass making it almost impossible to see coming or dodge in time, and get rid of Smough's second charge (yes there are actually two) that makes the draw of his hammer longer than the first, resulting in you dodging too early and getting whacked. There's no visual tell between the two from what I could see and it breaks the boss's consistency. Other than that, I'm super stoked to have this fight behind me. Claymore-Shield Pyromancer-Hybrid build is the perfect way to handle this fight and I shudder to think of doing that first phase without melting Ornstein first. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 06 Sep 2020 11:15 AM PDT I summoned a guy to engage in some jolly cooperation and after clearing out all the enemies on the way to the four kings boss, I jumped into the abyss, only to immediately die because I forgot to equip the ring you need to stay alive in the abyss. Sorry for wasting your time, random guy [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 07:55 PM PDT So, what is the canonical, or rather most logical to the narrative order by which to complete the game ? I'm assuming it's bell gargoyle bell of awakening first, followed by quelaag's domain bell. Then Sen's fortress > Anor Londo. But after acquiring the lord vessel, what would be the cannon order of events ? [link] [comments] |
The Parry Strategy for Gwyn is a lie made up by the fake news media to get you to die more. Posted: 06 Sep 2020 09:37 PM PDT Just finished my first ever playthrough of the game and i would say it went pretty well through the majority of the game. Some bosses i killed first try but most never took me more than 5 tries. I felt like i could overcome anything through most of the game... That is until this fucker shows up and took all my hope away. I must've died to him 20+ times. I looked at guides and pretty much all of them say to just parry him and he's easy. Well motherfucka dont wanna be parried. So finally i just tried to fight him straight up and it worked like a charm. The fight was probably the longest boss fight ever been in. You have to learn his attack patterns and R1 him in the tightest of windows, then get back very quickly to let your stamina recharge. I went naked with stamina mask, grass crest shield, and Uchigatana 15+ Hopefully this helped someone. EDIT: Oh, and you definitely want to use those pillars to your advantage. At one point i had like 5% health left and used a divine blessing behind a pillar. [link] [comments] |
Where am I supposed to go after Anor Londo/The painted world? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 07:42 PM PDT I was having so much fun blazing through this game until I beat Anor Londo. I didn't know what to do until someone told me to beat the painted world. I beat the painted world and then I went threw the New Londo ruins. Now I don't know where to go. I'm only level 64 and my strongest weapon is the gravelord sword. The most recent thing I've done of any importance is beat Sif. [link] [comments] |
Is the Astora Straight sword Good? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:13 AM PDT For some reason,I want to do a playthough looking like the guy in the cover and trailers, but the damage seems to be rather low, and the fact that you can only upgrade it to +5 will make it harder, I guess a quality+faith build and perseverance will do the trick? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:15 PM PDT It was quite the odd adventure, with many downs, and many many downs.. (F*CK BLIGHTTOWN LADDERS). The beginning of the game was normal, nothing to be said here. Asylum Demon, Taurus Demon, Gargoyles, Quelaag, CD, all went down fairly quick with my skimpy pale ass character, buck naked too. Ran a Reinforced Club the entire time, I hate it. The Fortress was fun, managed to make Iron Golem kill him self in self pity off the edge. Pfh. Anor Londo, typical. Fck the archers and knights crawling everywhere. O and S, pretty difficult fcks with only a +6 Club. (I was to damn lazy to level it up 4 times. Ehh, got good) New Londo, Four Kings were balls but, hit and repeat and light up with resin, poise my boy. Demon Ruins, they were ok. FUCKING FUCK THE BED OF FUCKING CHAOS. My little ass baby stamina bar cannot handle such fucking assery; even with quit outs. (SIF WHY?!) Dukes Archives and Seath, I hated ripping balls on a worthless huge area that all you have to do is run. Seath the dickless fell like a bitch, easy dank souls. Yeah, got centipede bitch too. Nothing was insanely difficult considering this was my first SL1 on DS1. SL1 on DS3 and 2 taught me well, and BL4 on Bloodborne, and attack power 1 on Sekiro.. Then all the other areas in preparation for NG+ SL1. Got all the requirements. Parried the fucking hell out of the old man Cindy, but then thought it was to cheese so I 1 v 1d him like a man, and won without a challenge. That was my adventure thus far, time for the DLC. Posted: 06 Sep 2020 06:39 PM PDT i found the door to lower undead burg, how long did it take you to find it because everybody told me that finding that place was easy [link] [comments] |
What's with the hype surrounding Blighttown? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 04:09 AM PDT So I've finally gotten around to playing Dark Souls and so far I've had good challenging fun, the areas are more linear than I expected and its feels very slow coming off of playing Nioh 2. But when I realised my next stop was Blighttown, my heart stopped, I had heard terrible thing about this place, my path was littered with messages of 'sorrow' or 'despair'. I readied my self, made sure I had plenty of moss and plunged down into the dark and expecting, precarious pathways, enemies dropping down on you like dropbears, constant agonizing pain and I found... Mildly confusing pathways and shooty bois. Why does this place have such a fearsome reputation? Is it the blow dart guys, cause they are easy to handle. The poison lake, the poison is barely noticable. Maybe it's because of the old FPS issue in the Original version. I just can't fathom why Blighttown is so feared. [link] [comments] |
PS3 Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition Posted: 07 Sep 2020 04:02 AM PDT There seems to be confusion that the PTDE is only for PC. This is false. It's also for PS3 and probably Xbox 360. There was some discussion on a previous post of mine. Pics attached! This is my copy. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 08:19 PM PDT How does NG+ work in this game? Like what exactly do you do NG+ for or what can you do? Second question, is a dexterity build any good in this game? Or even just fun at all? Ive just heard so many good things about it that I felt like trying it. Also how would you even go about it? [link] [comments] |

I made a Dark Souls Video Background for ZOOM Posted: 06 Sep 2020 07:02 PM PDT Those beautiful white clouds sauntering across the sky, shot using binoculars while standing next to Solaire. [link] [comments] |
Stuck on Ornstein and Smough for nearly 10 hours now. Posted: 06 Sep 2020 08:03 PM PDT Somebody please fkin help, I've tried every tactic, have tried killing each of them first, nothing seems to fkin work. When I try to kill Ornstein that fkin hammer slide always gets me and when I try to kill the fat fuck that bitch just kills me through him. I'm under 25% weight and I still can't even get to the second phase of the fight. Somebody please HELPPPPPP. [link] [comments] |
How do I get to gaping dragon? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 03:23 AM PDT |
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 07:39 AM PDT This is my first play trough of ds1 and i had been struggling up to the Bell Gargoyles and thought this game wasn't going to be for me and that i would never play again. Today i went in with a positive mindset about the game and i managed to defeat the Moonlight Butterfly, Capra Demon and Gaping Demon all on my first try! Not sure why i want to post it on reddit but i an very proud of myself and just wanted to share with you all. [link] [comments] |
Is Seath truly a "primordial" dragon? Posted: 06 Sep 2020 11:10 PM PDT So, I've almost beated DS1 for the third time and I still can't stop thinking about the lore of Seath. In particular, I was thinking about the chronology of certain events that sounds a little bit messy. First of all, in the opening scene explaining the lore of the game, the events are displayed without any real chronological reference or order. In a scene we have these hollow-like figures rising from the dark, and in the following scene we have a perfect civilization with a well-trained/equipped army that fights the dragons. I think it should be normal to think that the birth of the first civilization and the clash with dragons came in two different moments and probably after centuries, to give giants the possibility to reach such technological level. So there must be a period in which giants and dragons lived together. In support of this thought there is the fact that Seath must be a second-generation dragon born after the first fire. Disparity came with fire, so it is impossible for something different and imperfect to birth before disparity itself. Does it make any sense to you? [link] [comments] |
Missed the release, is the community still alive to purchase the remaster? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:33 AM PDT I played the PTD edition close to the release date and was burned out but now I want to replay it with people if possible (active coop and pvp). Which platform should I get it on? [link] [comments] |
How tf do I get to the witch of izalith after centipede demon? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:22 AM PDT |
Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:36 PM PDT So I frequently read the Wiki about questlines and such to make sure I don't miss anything (like the sorcerer in Lower Undead Burg that is still in a cage as we speak) and I found out that there is a second Primordial Serpent in the New Londo Ruins. From what I gather he is your "evil" choice compared to Frampt, but how many people actually encounter this guy before receiving the Lord Vessel? I get that From is committed to their secrets being secrets, like the boss fight after attacking Gwynevere (saw that one in a YouTube video didn't even know) but has anyone here gone with them their first run through?
