Did this one a while ago. How would the Dark Souls cover look like if it were a Super Famicom game

I doubt they're on here, but to whoever made a character named "Covid.19" and hit me with toxic and poison effects... I'm not even mad.

    Very well done.

    I did it!

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:25 PM PDT

After 55 frustrating, exhilarating, breathtaking, and fun hours of game play I finally finished my first Dark Souls playthrough. I never understood how people could stand to play this game. I now realize this is one of the best games I have ever played. Now I have no clue what to do with myself lol.

Can we talk about this game?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:14 PM PDT

So my entry into FromSoftware games was actually Bloodborne. I was looking for a good Lovecraftian horror game and was pointed in that direction. Obviously I was beaten and frustrated yet somehow was pulled deeper into the game. Flash forward a few weeks later and I get all the Dark Souls games. I start with 1 and end up playing it concurrently with Bloodborne. Somewhere I stop playing Bloodborne and focus all my energy on Dark Souls. It was the same pull that pushed me in Bloodborne only stronger. After nearly an agonizing month of frustration and failures, I passed it. A few days later I passed Bloodborne and now I'm currently playing Dark Souls 2. It's been about a week maybe 2 since i beat this game and I can't get over it. It's so damn weird that a game has left me feeling, pun intended, so hollow. That ending song really hit home and I find myself listening to it here and there. Is this the feeling people get when they pass their first FromSoftware game or is it special to this one? Beating Bloodborne was awesome but it didn't generate the same feeling I got when I saw those credits roll up after 1. Idk I just wanted to say this out loud if you will. This game definitely is a God tier game, hell, Miyazaki himself is probably one. Almost 2 weeks and his work still hasn't left my mind. I can proudly say I now join the countless of you hollows who wish to have our memories erased, just experience this work of art one more time. Praise the sun my dudes, and don't you dare go hollow. Mar Mar out.

    Finally got past it

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 07:59 PM PDT

So... I beat the Gargoyles today. And surprisingly I also beat the Capra Demon. So now I'm on the depths. I actually had to restart because I accidentally deleted my save. So I am very happy right now. I have the Dragon Kite Shield? I think. And a Claymore +5

Edit: Forgot about the Moonlight Butterfly. So ima do that tomorrow if I can

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:14 PM PDT

I know that it is a fairly easy fight, but I am so happy that I actually am having progress. I have been trying to get past the undead burg for a week, but I kept dying ridiculously. Anyway, I am so excited that I am having progress, and kinda wanted to share.

Dumb Stretch/Thought about the Crestfallen Warrior

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:18 PM PDT

The Crestfallen Warrior is a character who has given up all hope and is content staying in a safe space without taking any risks. Likewise his shield has a 100% physical damage resistance which would be great for someone who wants to stay safe and avoid risk. I'd like to think that he chose this shield as it fit how he wanted to live. I know I'm making a stretch but I love that Dark Souls is the kind of game that makes me think about things like this and while this is something that doesn't mean anything even if it was intentional, it's just nice to think about things like this.

First time player. Just toasted Kalameet's rear end

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 03:42 AM PDT

I started my first play through a few days ago. Mostly pure pyromancer, with a few Dex weapons to help in Izalith.

This is probably my new favourite game, it's so damn intense, and punishing, and amazing.

Anyways, up until this point my favourite boss was probably Four Kings, but I've been fighting the bat for the last half hour, and it's the best boss fight I've ever beaten. Was very close to dying a few times on the winning run, but a well place fire tempest, boosted by power within, kept me in it, and I managed to seal the win with a face full of great fireballs.

    I just.

    Sqweeeeeeee 😂

TIL you can jump to the ledge with the Blue Tearstone Ring from the first bridge outside the Undead burg Bonfire where the Hollows throw firebombs at you.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 11:27 PM PDT

There is a crumbled railing on the bridge right before the room with 3 hollows on it, and you can see the item down below. It's a bit of a tricky jump, and if you do make it, the Black Knight will aggro on you immediately instead of being able to sneak up behind him. Killing the Black Knight though will allow you to make the Taurus Demon run only having to go past two non-intrusive hollows. Maybe this is well-known already, but I've never heard anyone on here mention this. I have 400+ hours in this game and I've never noticed it because I always just run across the bridge so I don't get pelted with firebombs. I absolutely love how many new things I continuously learn about this game.

Serious question: if everyone’s undead, then how come killing NPC’s is such a big deal and makes them disappear forever?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:16 PM PDT

Is everyone literally one death away from going hollow or do they respawn like the player but kinda just avoid us after having been killed? Like when I die it's all fine and dandy but when Lautrec kills the fire keeper then suddenly she's gone forever?

    Ruined experience

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 02:47 AM PDT

I love lore of Dark Souls, but I started play only this summer with remaster and I played dark souls 2 from my friend's computer and died 2 times by mobs losing all of his souls, so I know how painfull is this game. And it was painful, until I died 7 times to black knight for blue useless ring, I ran to youtube and learned how to parry, then I killed him and got his sword. That sword is so op, it was fun slashing enemies by one hit. And I made with it whole game with Black Knight's sword, it was like a addiction. And I tried other rapiers, spears etc. but BK sword was the most effective. Dark Souls have so much weapon and different moveset, but I stayed with only ONE weapon

Which version to buy, remastered or prepare to die?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 03:48 AM PDT

    Just finished my first play-through

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 03:10 AM PDT

Just wanted to express my thoughts after having just finished my first run of DS Remastered. I've previously finished Bloodborne and DS3, and half of Sekiro so it's not my first From experience.

After the initial shock at the dated feel wore off (which was very quick) I love this game. The world is probably the best I've experienced so far (maybe Bloodborne is as good) and I love how connected everything is.

Going for a general strength build made for an enjoyable experience, although once I got the Black Knight Greatsword to +5 everything became a bit easy.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm "used to" souls games, but the bosses seemed far easier in this game than the others. I think I beat 75% of bosses on my first or second attempt (1st time for o&s, 4 kings, nito, gwyn). The only bosses that I struggled with were the great wolf and the knight boss in the dlc. I think the lack of second and third boss phases really makes them easier. To be honest bosses aren't my favourites art of souls games so I appreciated not being stuck on a boss forever.

Going to start DS2 shortly, which should keep me busy until Demon Souls comes out on the PS5.

    Praise the sun!

    Quality build or 28/45?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 02:57 AM PDT

Hi everyone, since in remastered they didn't add the respec and since I didn't played much pvp when I was a child with ds1, I don't know what would be better in order to build a character that won't miss the possibility to switch between some weapon choices. Back in times I tried pretty much anything, and at the end I was always onto a quality 40/40 with claymore for pve. Honestly, I am not into greatsword that much nowadays, cause they feel clumsy against straight sword (in ds3 I was a king of pvp with pyromancies and dark infused straight swords). So, since I don't really accept that "being in the middle" of great swords, I think I want to choose, depending on mood for pvp and on mood and necessities in pve, between straight swords and halberds, but I honestly don't dislike lances and, rarely, katanas. Also, I would like to use some pyromancies, so 40-45 dex and some att is mandatory. That being said, probably investing more in vitality and stamina in better than invest more than 28 in strength for my purpose, cause it would give me hp+tanky+fast roll, but straight swords are more quality than the others since they scale more in str. Also I never used a bk halberd, but I have seen it's quite op in pve. Is it good in pvp? That thing needs 36 in str to be used one handed. Is it worth it? Also: are straight swords (like the good old long sword) worth in pvp?

    Dark Souls 1 Deathless Complete!!

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 02:02 AM PDT

Yes. You heard me right. I didn't dare go hollow.

The same person who got bent over by Gwyn a few days ago after going through the whole game without dying just bent him over.

O how the turn tables, you old fire sword wielding b*tch.

Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to continue attempting this challenge run! Now that it's over I'm so happy, while at the same time I know that DS1 Hitless is next and I definitely know that run will not be so forgiving.

And thankfully I started back streaming so I have the actual clip from the stream!

Here are a few clips where I almost died... whoops.

    1 or 2 or 3 or 4

Also, huge shout out to u/kbob7878 for watching me stumble my way through this run and making it a lot more enjoyable in the process.

I Beat the Red Eyed Black Dragon!

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 01:55 AM PDT

    Spoilers...albeit velague...

Hi everyone, a week ago I posted about beating the Hydra. Well, I stood with it and played through this amazing game and after three days of attempting, and a ~3 hour session today, I beat that horrible calamity.

The fight was a struggle because that gosh darn tail! Anyway, all I have left to do is fight the final boss at the Kiln and it's on to ng+! Though I kinda want to try fresh a Katana build.

I've adapted my build into a pyromancy knight, and this new tail weapon I got really fits the aesthetic!

Been cosplaying as Oscar of Astoria (Elite Knight +8 - +10), a +15 claymore, +5 ascended pyroglove, +5 Crest Shield, and thorolund talisman or Oolacile Catalyst pending utilities.

Gosh the story is amazing, you really get to know and feel for the NPCs. Especially SunBro and OnionDad, and even certain bosses you fight, that painting.... and I was suggested to do AotA before 4kings... :(

Not to mention the music, and cinematography.

Heck even the PvP has been great! With rare exceptions, most players have honor!

Enemies I really hate: those skeletons that remind me of Vordt in Dark Souls 3.

    Favorite NPC: Quelana or Sieglinde

Favorite Bosses: optional ones in AL

Sidenote: I commonly see two types of players as ghosts as I journey on. They are Havelled up, with a pinwheel mask, or naked with a halberd and shield... wonder why that is.
