/r/DarkSouls2 - Modding Monday. Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:14 PM PDT Welcome to the weekly Dark Souls mod announcement and discussion thread! Beware! Use of mods whilst connected to the internet can cause you to get banned from online play! For more information, or to continue the discussion visit /r/ModSouls Using mods (PC only!) to enhance or add new content to the Souls games is great fun! It is important, however, to understand that mods are against From's EULA/ToS, so there is a great risk of being banned when using them due to From's anti-cheat--which is deployed in most versions of the Souls games. Versions of the games where modding is safe due to no anti-cheat: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Versions of the games where modding carries a very high risk of being banned: Dark Souls: Remastered Dark Souls II Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Dark Souls III Our recommendations for safe modding *This advice is intended for first-time or relatively inexperienced modders who want to get into modding without risking a ban on their main Steam account. Basic Steps: Make a separate Steam account Use Steam's Family Sharing feature to provide your new account with access to your main Steam account's game library. Install games to be used with the new account in a separate directory. Once you've found your mods be sure to read (and follow) the mod author's instructions carefully prior to installation. Set Steam to "off line" mode. Install the mods and perform any necessary setup. Enjoy the fun and interesting experiences offered by mods! Be sure to remove all file components of the mod before going back online!Helpful Information for New Users Be sure to check the /r/DarkSouls2/wiki page, where you can find community-created tips and research threads. I just beat SOTFS all bosses without dying once Posted: 10 Aug 2020 07:05 AM PDT I dunno why I'm posting, just wanted to share with DS2 folks :)) Don't give up, skeletons! edit: proof (the entire run) [link] [comments] |
Can you explain me how Flynn's Ring exactly works? Posted: 10 Aug 2020 12:20 PM PDT So I want to do a SL1 run and searching for tips I saw a guy saying that I need to pick flynn's ring because it is essential. This ring really worth it in a SL1 run? How can this ring help me? (any misspelling please advise because I want to improve my english) [link] [comments] |
After my first playthrough of SotFS I thought I would never touch this game again... Posted: 10 Aug 2020 05:22 AM PDT However, yesterday evening I made it back to Drangleic Castle on NG+2 (on a fresh run) and bought the three remaining spells I was missing from Wellager to obtain the platinum. Praise the lockdown! The Shrine Of Amana can still eat a whole field of dicks though. Also, my biggest regret from my first playthrough is that I never tackled the third DLC the first time round, because I can now safely say that the Burnt Ivory King fight is the best in the game. Dude the iron passage is KILLING ME (literally and figuratively) Posted: 10 Aug 2020 11:19 AM PDT I played vanilla DS2 back when it first came out but never SOTFS. I've been enjoying Brume tower so far and fume knight was fantastic, but good LORD the iron passage might be the most brutal area in any game I've ever played! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 01:24 PM PDT So I have dark souls 2 on disc for ps3 and wanted to buy the dlc to play using an existing character but on the playstation store they only have Scholar of the first sin. Is there no way to buy the dlc on its own anymore? Sorry if someones asked this already [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 10:06 AM PDT I saw someone start a dagger only build and I wanted to try, but I haven't decided on which one. So far it seems the regular dagger is my best choice since the other ones are trash or you get em late game lol [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 07:33 AM PDT All I've ever been told is that ds2 was bad in both lore and gameplay due to its lack of influence on the context of ds1/3 and how the mechanics for healing and rolls are altered. Because of this, even after receiving the game for free, I put off playing it for over two years. I played DS3 then DS1. I recently started ds2 so far finishing the iron keep. Although the slow healing and the abundance of one use heals felt unusual and the I frames felt more difficult to time, I still don't see why the game is called the worst dark souls. I've enjoyed the entire game so far with little resin to hate an area quite like sens fortress. Ds2 doesn't quite have the charm of ds1 or the fluidity of ds3 but I don't think it's bad at all. I'm glad that I get to enjoy this game and that the opinions of others didn't stop my from playing it in the end. TLDR Enough people told me ds2 was bad that I didn't play my free copy of it for two years. Im playing it now and loving it. Idk why people who like souls games wouldn't like this one [link] [comments] |
Does anyone know a high soul dupe glitch Posted: 10 Aug 2020 12:59 PM PDT I'm looking for a ds2sotfs Xbox one glitch that can get me many souls. [link] [comments] |
Can I see the players that I invaded and viceversa? Like a list of some kind. Posted: 10 Aug 2020 12:31 PM PDT |
How to set summon signs after using soapstone Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:26 AM PDT So i finished the game with all DLC and want to help some ppl to kill bosses. Is there a away to get more soapstones? I cant believe you can only get summoned once per game? [link] [comments] |
How do people feel about the spell glitch? Posted: 10 Aug 2020 11:34 AM PDT Just want general opinion on it from those who use it and those who hate it. Im talkin bout the one that makes it so you can have like 100 soul spears [link] [comments] |
Red and black ether. Does it mean something? Posted: 10 Aug 2020 07:47 AM PDT I've noticed that when you kill some major enemies or bosses, their death animation shows them disappear in a cloud of black and red. Ruin Sentinels are an example. The only other time I see this black and red is when Vendrick does his rare ranged attack and fires a black and red blob at you. Is there any significance to the black and red smoke/ether? Why does it only appear for some enemies? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 05:11 AM PDT No, you are not in the wrong subreddit. I started a new build yesterday as a joke, Deprived starter class, Astetic gift (for later farming). Here is what I think: It is freaking annoying to start with. Since I decided to do Shield attacks only, but the earliest shield that can attack (as far as I know) is the Twin Dragon Shield. I needed 4500 souls or so, and that all by hand. It's pretty interesting, had some close calls, but no deaths so far. As soon as I got the Shield, I started using it. Due to the minimum 10 str for 2 handing, I only did 50 dmg, and was slow as heck. Try beating 4 Dagger Flurries with the speed of a freakin snail, only to do 50 dmg out of their 200+, with slow ass attacks. However, reaching 10 str made everything amazing. Went from 50 to 150 dmg per hit, sometimes 200. Good block, great against spear hollows (frick them, with their constant blocking and poking), and I even beaten the Last giant easily as a white phantom. Pretty good so far, and the starter grind was tedious, but after 10 str it was worth it. (Note: don't pick Deprived for str based builds) My mate might make a Raphtalia build (lightning rapier), so I guess we will easily cheese thru the game. Fell free to try Shield builds, they are fun [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 10:42 AM PDT I switched computers, redownloaded ds2sotfs and my data is...not there. But steam still has all the achievements and stuff. How do I recover it? [link] [comments] |
Frigid Outskirts is Near Perfect Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:12 AM PDT Yeah, it's not. With that said, it really is quiet close to being a brilliant area. The murder reindeer are amazing, the design is great and the move set is imaginative. Holding your shield and waiting for them to run out of the snow is great. The way they disappear into the storm and fling lightning back looks fabulous. It's just... there's nothing else. A couple of interesting hollows. Being hit by three of them at once isn't that bad if you've summoned an army, and summoning an army is basically the way you're clearly meant to play the area. It'd be nice if it just straight up told you to do so, but that wouldn't be very Soulsy. It'd also be nice if they relaxed the "no hollowing" rule for summoning. Mistakes they made:
In terms of pacing, I think if they'd put it straight in front of Drangleic, and put a bonfire at the end it'd be a really popular area. As it is, I can't even use its nickname in front of my kids. (I call it Reindeer Murderland.) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 01:02 PM PDT Hey all. So, I've been a fan of the Souls series for a while now, and only recently picked up 2 (played a LOT of DS1) and I'm having a lot of trouble. The methods I've practiced and trained in the prior game are getting me nowhere, and I just feel lost and frustrated. I can't even seem to make sense of the timing. Besides which, I'm accustomed to having certain gear skips or shortcuts that make early game a lot easier (my DS1 scheme got me a top-tier shield and decent sword plus great armor within 5 minutes of hitting 'play'), and I'm struggling with holding onto enough souls to even level up. Can I get some pointers, tips, tricks? Tbh I'd be happy to start a new character if I need to, I haven't gotten very far, I just... I want some help to find how to enjoy this game the way I enjoyed DS1. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:04 AM PDT Thinking about making an overtwinked build for helping random dudes, what are the best SM tiers for diffrent areas [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:16 PM PDT I've been helping people out at Sir Alonne for about a week now. I've never used co-op in any fashion before, but I really enjoy helping people make it through, it's a different way of playing the game, worrying about keeping the host safe and sound. So anyway, I did a whole bunch of runs, and if you're considering summoning real people, here's a few things you can do to help us: - Wait for your phantom to appear so we can head out together, that way I can keep track of where you are and help if need be. - If you summon a real person , consider not summoning NPCs. It greatly reduces the amount of damage you do per hit and actually makes the fight more chaotic, and longer. - People putting their sign down typically have a lot of experience with the level. Let us lead the way and tank the hits. - Play conservatively. If I die it's ok you can keep going, if you die it's over for everyone. - Don't aggro the whole level by running through ahead. - Preserve your resources - healing items and weapon durability. Let phantoms do most of the work so you can make it to the boss with your resources intact and increase your chances. We come well equipped with repair powder and everything we need. - Wait for your phantoms when arriving at the fog wall. Give us a few seconds to repair our weapons , heal and buff. If you have healing spells using them to heal everyone is much appreciated. - Don't head straight for the boss when going through the gate, let your phantoms take him head-on. Try to follow behind the boss and get hits in at the end of combos. - While we do our best to maintain the boss' attention on us, you're guaranteed to have a few attacks headed your way. If you find yourself dying in 2-3 hits, consider attempting the boss alone a few times with the goal of surviving for 30 seconds, just learn and dodge the attacks. That should be sufficient. - If you die, it's ok, we're there to help out again! See you at the fog gates! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Aug 2020 10:08 AM PDT I beated the game finally! Thanks for the phantom with smelter demon sword and blue smelter demon sword helping me with Nashandra and Aldia🤝 [link] [comments] |
