- Miyazaki is known to be a student of ancient cultures, language/etymology, as well as occult/esoteric teaching. It is most likely that the two bells of awakening are a nod to “as above, so below”

Posted: 19 Aug 2020 06:34 PM PDT One of the most famous phrases in any esoteric teaching is "as above so below" from the emerald tablets. This phrase is popular among all hermetic teachings. But the emerald tablet it derives from is also the main document of interest for ancient alchemists. But there is a very important piece missing or left out. In the hermetic text of the emerald tablet it clearly lays out that the macrocosm/the outer universe "above", and the microcosm/inner universe "below", are both miracles of "the one". Alchemists, including Isaac Newton who has his own translation, believed there to be a "Prima Materia" or original material/god material. And the living version of this is "the one". Understanding this puts a much heavier tone on the need to ring the bell above and below to face "god" in order to show you are "the one". You must link the macrocosm above to the microcosm below. Hopefully nobody has made this connection before. I will be doing lore videos about dark souls but more about how they relate to the real world, like this post. Once I get to it I'll ask the mods if it's ok for me to post them here. Miyazaki is a fucking madman and genius. [link] [comments] |

So I was "forced" to play through Dark Souls... Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:14 AM PDT Forced with the meaning, that a friend and me made a deal: I play through Dark Souls (1) until a certain deadline, while he plays through 2 other games of combined about equal length (according to howlongtobeat) until that deadline. I've played Dark Souls before but the furthest I ever got was in front of the Undead Church. And the closest thing to a Souls-Like I've played before this is propably Hollow Knight. That was a bit more than a month ago and quite recently i finished the game and definitely don't regret it. Because we made that deal i thought it would be nice for him to see how i did, so i recorded it. Then i thought i might as well cut it up and put it on Youtube. And now i thought i might as well post it here. So here we go, a 95% blind Playthrough of Dark Souls 1 in 2020. Apart from what I mentioned I pretty much knew nothing and looked barely anything up. I cut the worst (and best) moments together. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKpp4pYSrHqFss7JBKz9oICJOoRukumsA I didn't intend to upload it at all in the first couple recordings, so stuff gets better (i think) as it goes on (better editing, better mic, facecam, etc.). I hope you enjoy :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Aug 2020 02:11 PM PDT AHHHHHHHHHHH. First play through. I figured after O&S I wouldn't be in this level of despair again. About to start attempt number, I'm not even sure, 100? Why so hard. /weeps/ EDIT: HOLY VICTORY ACHIEVED, I DID ITTTT. The secret for me was two shots of whiskey and starting this up in the background. https://youtu.be/IBvf7KUEZ78 Thanks for believing in me everyone, kept me focused. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2020 03:31 AM PDT So I easily got through Lower Undead Burg and unlocked Depthts at first it has gone well I had the hard time with the Butchers but I defeted them succesfully and after I slided through that waterfall things just fucked up. I fell through some shit hole after defeating that Channeler. And those fucking basillisks cursed me twice so I had to farm souls on the slimes because all the other enemies would just kick my ass. After gaining 6000 souls I went to the undead merchant (female) bought an purging stone and went back in same thing happened again and after I bought another purging stone I found out I could bought it at the place where I rang the first bell for half a price. After that things went well again I defeated Gaping Dragon first try very easily solo. [link] [comments] |
[DS1 RM] Firelink Shrine won't restart, but I've already done the steps needed to restart it Posted: 20 Aug 2020 02:58 AM PDT [Spoilers for those who haven't realized Lautrec isn't very nice] So, the Firelink Shrine isn't lit up, but I've already killed Lautrec and returned Anastacia's soul where it belongs. She's currently chilling in her hang space, happy and energetic as usual, but the fire hasn't restarted and I have no prompt to do so. I'm currently on my third playthrough, so I'm sure I didn't somehow mess up on my way. A cursory Google search reveals nothing. I've reloaded, died and restarted but no dice. It's not that big of a deal, though. I can still warp to it and the walk to New Londo would only be slightly more inconvenient. If anyone has a fix, I'd be grateful. [link] [comments] |
I'm in love with the literature in the Souls series. WHERE CAN I GET MORE!? Posted: 20 Aug 2020 04:27 AM PDT As a poet, I've been impressed by only 2 things. Dante's Inferno from the Devine comedy and ANYTHING IN DARK SOULS. I'm talking about all three games! Like... Some of these monologsb(since we don't really talk) have brought tears to my eyes. "Goodbye then, be careful friend. Don't you dare go hollow" "Are you…the next monarch? Or… Merely a pawn of fate? Bearer of the curse… I will remain by your side. Till this frail hope shatters" See what I'm talking about? Simple diction but incredibly touching. Is there any books or writers who have stuff like this? [link] [comments] |
To the spearman I met in the ruins of New Londo SPOILERS Posted: 19 Aug 2020 10:08 AM PDT I am so sorry. I fought by your side down to the spiral staircase. Methodically taking out the Ghosts, Dark Wraiths and summoning Witch Beatrice. Only for me to plunge to my death leaving you to fight the 4 Kings. This happened 3 times before I realized I needed to be wearing Artorias's ring. I wanted jolly co-op, but I was a jolly fool. Sorry about the Humanity. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Aug 2020 05:36 PM PDT Hey guys, so Dark Souls: Remastered is with a 50% discount in my country, and fourtunately I have the money to buy it, but none of my friends have it and maybe one of them will buy, but just maybe. I wanted to know if it's worth to buy and play alone. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
I have Just gotten the Lord vessel, where should I go next?( DSR) Posted: 19 Aug 2020 08:35 PM PDT I'm SL58 and am wondering where I should go next. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Explain the lore of dark souls... but in haiku. Posted: 19 Aug 2020 05:27 AM PDT This could be interesting. It could be a character's journey, an area, or like the whole ass ds1-ds3 story. Have fun! [link] [comments] |

Quelana won't talk to me anymore. Posted: 20 Aug 2020 01:02 AM PDT I'm trying to upgrade my second pryromancy flame and ascend it so I can trade it for a red titanite slab but I had enough to get it to +14 so I backed out to go get more souls. When I came back she keeps saying "Fool. Hurry along. I can do nothing more for you." Anyone know why she won't talk to me anymore? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2020 04:40 AM PDT After the giant rat you can slide down and the actually helpful thing if you slide on the left wall you can get down to the room that goes to blighttown and the gaping dragon. [link] [comments] |
Best shield for a sorcery build? Posted: 19 Aug 2020 04:57 PM PDT I'm playing with a sorcery build, and I've found myself using a shield more than I had expected to. Right now I'm using the Grass Crest shield, but I was wondering if there was a better option? [link] [comments] |

Keyboard vs controller and difficulty Posted: 20 Aug 2020 01:05 AM PDT Hey I'm new to the roots of dark souls and have played the other titles, playing ds3 on PlayStation was always fun but for ds2 and ds1 I play on computer with a keyboard and wanted to know if this makes things more difficult apr of the games are inherently harder. unlimited saves in Dark Souls Remastered? Posted: 19 Aug 2020 08:51 PM PDT Have they removed the 10 character save limit in the remaster? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Aug 2020 04:12 PM PDT Just interested in seeing if there's someone interested in going through the game with me. I've never played any dark souls game but I have all 3. Would love a nice little group to bet it with. Also is there a place where people specifically deal with helping others in these games? [link] [comments] |
