Jeez Louise, the Tomb of Giants

    Posted: 05 May 2020 02:53 AM PDT

I can't remember an area in a video game this sadistic outside of Megaten. Fighting in the pitch darkness on super narrow paths while invisible archers are shooting gigantic freaking arrows at you...yikes.

I wanted to go down here (my first stop after Anor Londo) to rescue the cleric girl, whose story intrigued me back when she was up looking in the pots at Firelink Shrine (and I thought Griggs seemed to have a crush on her) and I did find her, finally, and she told me.........nothing. Her bodyguard dudes went Hollow on her. OK, but I don't care about them, I want to hear about why you wanted to come down here for the rite of kindling, how you got trapped, something. Dark Soooooooooooouls! Why don't you give me the dialogue I crave! I just want, like....10% more.

I'm guessing I'm about...halfway? Just defeated a Black Knight past a fog wall, and went back to the bonfire to heal up. Ugh I wish I could see and have a shield at the same time.

I love the dark souls community

    Posted: 04 May 2020 08:04 PM PDT

Bought dark souls a few days ago since I wanted to play it for quite a long time, I didn't know what I was getting in but knew that I'd perish. Today I arrived to Anor Londo, I was on my way to the main hall in the cathedral, struggling to fight a couple black knights on the rooftop courtyard that I dragged aggro from when a guy invaded me.

I had died earlier in a room that was further ahead with quite a high amount of souls, and seeing this made me wanna leave the game for today. But for my surprise, the guy saw what was going on and stood outside of the battle, running around until I finished while transforming into objects (I didn't know that was even possible, made me laugh not gonna lie), then after I beat those knights he proceeded to congratulate me with gestures (atleast that's what I think it was), gift me various types of titanite and a dark knight halberd. We exchanged more gestures and waved, and then he left. I honestly loved this moment, and I don't think this has ever happened to me in any other game. Love this community.

I almost went hollow... instead I went platinum!

    Posted: 04 May 2020 01:41 PM PDT

Today, after multiple playthroughs and weeks of farming, collecting, etc, I managed to platinum Dark Souls! Non-remastered, XB360, DLC and all. After all that hard work, I'm at a loss for what to do next. Guess I'll platinum number two!

Why Did Gough Didn't Help Artorias (Or At least Do Anything)

    Posted: 04 May 2020 10:35 PM PDT

So I Recently Play The Artorias Of The Abyss DLC And As I Were Heading To Oolacile I Saw Two Gigantic Tower Like Building One Is Where Artorias Reside And The Second One Is Where I Think Gough Recide (Due To The Carving Noise And Yes I've Been Accidentally Spoiled Before I Play). Judging By How Close The Two Building Is (How Close Both Of Them Are), Why Didn't Gough Help Artorias While In His Pain?

    Cinders PvP

    Posted: 05 May 2020 03:59 AM PDT

    Hi dudes.

I just finished the Cinders mod for DS3, and I'd love to play it online. From what I gathered, going online on Cinders will result in a ban, but you'll be able to play with other soft-banned people. What does this ban consist of? Does it affect your single-player campaign and saves, or does it only ban you from playing online?

Always had this series on the back burner but...

    Posted: 05 May 2020 03:43 AM PDT

just realized you could grab all three (DSR, DS2, and DS3) for like 55 bucks right now on PS4.

So I impulse bought them all. About to start this series completely blind, anything I should know going in? (Have a few extra controllers ready to go, so got that covered lol)

    New Player: Update

    Posted: 05 May 2020 03:13 AM PDT

    Previous post https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls/comments/gcrhf3/new_player/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Thanks for everyone that gave some advice, all of it was utilised in my session last night.

Had the black knight sword so I grinded by the bonfire closest to Taurus Demon until I could equip it then pressed forwards. Managed to do him with one slap from the black knight sword. Pressed forwards even further, found my way to the blacksmith then moved onwards to the gargoyles. On the way I found some absolute unit with a huge shield. Killed them first try thanks to people teaching me about fat rolling (PS, making yourself fat roll onto breakable scenery is very fun, try it). Made my way up to the gargoyles and managed to kill them first try and rang the first bell. Then made my way down from where the Taurus demon spawned and killed Havel and got his ring, and also got another ring from kicking some guy off off firelink which boosts max HP and Stamina which is insanely good.

I'm now running around gathering my bearings. I think the next logical step is to do darkwood forest. I went down to the bottom of the basin, killed the black knight there and opened the area up to where Havel was (RIP). There's something in the lake that keeps firing projectiles at me but I haven't gone down to see what it is yet. Managed to get some twinkling titanite from a lizard and upgrade the black knight sword twice. Right now I'm in darkwood forest trying to find the best way to kill the stone warriors, but there is always a way!

Just wanted to share an update to where I'm at on my first play through. So far I'm really enjoying it, and it's good to play a game where you feel like the odds are stacked against you and the only way to get through it is to be patient and practice.

Anything that you think I may have missed or any more tips? Is it worth buying the tool that allows you to upgrade weapons at any bonfire? And what are your views on kindling? Is it worth kindling every bonfire? So far I've kindled one and that's the one above the blacksmith as it seemed pretty close to some key areas

    Just finished Dark Souls

    Posted: 04 May 2020 02:29 PM PDT

For the first time, my first Souls or like game, and it's the first game in a long time that's left me feeling somewhat sad that it's over.

I completely avoided the entire series and anything Souls-like based on what I'd heard about the difficulty. I tend to play most games on Easy or Normal.

Recently I decided (maybe because I have more gaming time at the moment) to try Dark Souls Remastered, because it was on sale. I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I bought it a few weeks ago.

I quickly became addicted to the methodical gameplay, and exploring each new area, unsure of what kind of environment or enemy was ahead. The world had a sort of gripping mystery about it, incredibly engaging. I wanted to discover more and more of it.

It wasn't long before I realised that the game wasn't really that hard at all, or not in the traditional sense. I don't play difficult games because I become infuriated having to repeat things over and over, dying instantly or unfairly, etc. But here, I rarely died unexpectedly; most of what happened, I saw coming, and knew how I could approach it differently the next time. Nothing ever felt impossible. I also had a chance to recover the souls I dropped, so I wasn't really wasting time by dying. I was learning and also working towards levelling up my character. I didn't become enraged, yell at the TV or want to throw my controller even one time during my entire playthrough.

After 30 hours, I completed Dark Souls, which is something I never thought I'd do. It's now one of my favourite games.

I feel like an idiot for shunning the games without having ever played them, but on the other hand, it means I've now got Dark Souls II (which I've already started), Dark Souls III, Bloodborne and Sekiro all lined up, and I can't wait to experience these too.

The dude at the fire link shrine is kicking my ass

    Posted: 05 May 2020 02:24 AM PDT

    Hi

So I decided to attack the guy sitting at the shrine and he's now chasing me down and killing me. I can't do any damage to him almost at all and he's killed me a bunch of times. Not sure what to do

Also, I used up my transient curses, so how do I get past the ghosts now?

Sorry for the noob questions lol. It was going well until I misclicked an estus flask and died to a couple ghosts
