Can someone make a live background gif of Majula?

    Posted: 05 May 2020 09:15 AM PDT

I'm not demanding it but can someone make a gif of majula? I love that place and want it as my background but all the ones on the internet haven't been good because of bad quality or being one of those gifs that make a terrible cut back to the begining. I understand if no one wants to do this. Thanks for reading!

The beauty of Dark Souls 2 covenants compared to Dark Souls 3

    Posted: 05 May 2020 01:02 PM PDT

Apologies if this seems rambly, I'm not too good with typing long things like this. And maybe this has been talked about but I just wanted to throw my two cents down on how the covenants are great, and in most ways better compared to DS3.

In Dark Souls 2 almost every covenant (with a couple exceptions like Heirs of the Son) has a good reason for it's existence, you can easily find out why it exists and why you can join it. In DS3 the territory covenants are just kind of there, there's no easy answer to why you can join the covenants or really why they really even exist the way they do in lore, you just find a secret area and for no reason to get to join them.

Compare those to the Rat King covenant and the Bell Keepers. The Rat King gives you a reason to defend his territory, and an explanation for why he even lets you join, and it's the same with the Bell Keepers. And these covenants are actually mentioned outside of themselves. The bells are linked to two of the major bosses, the Rat King is the whole reason for the existence of his two areas. Compare this to Aldrich Faithful, who are never mentioned outside of McDonnell, and he never even talks about the covenant.

And this is shown in almost every covenant linked. In DS2 you actually have a purpose in joining the Blue Sentinels, it's like you're joining an order and you actually need to do something to join. In DS3 you just get it from Horace, with no explanation or reasoning about why they're even in the game.

The Way of Blue is established as a thing, compared to DS3 where you get it with little to no explanation.

And I could go on, in DS2 covenants actually had purpose beyond themselves, and they fit into the world.

And as purely a gameplay feature they were much more than DS3. In DS3 all covenants are purely online covenants, and beyond their singular online features (with the exceptions of Rosaria's Fingers) that's all you get for joining them. In DS2 most did something outside of online. The Rat King made enemies passive (adding into it actually feeling like an organization of sorts), the Pilgrim's of Dark added an entire new area and boss, the BOB and Blue Sentinels added an arena, Bell Keepers make enemies have new drops, and the Company of Champions literally changes the whole game. In DS3 the only change a covenant gives is the ability to respec and changing your summon sign color, the rest only change things within their own covenant.

One thing I also love is that each covenant has a distinctly different role. Dragon Remnants are summon sign duels, BOB is an arena and invasions, Blue Sentinels are about invading sinners and helping Way of the Blue (even if it barely works), Rat King is about creating a path of traps and enemies, Bell Keepers is just standard territory protection, Pilgrims of the Dark give entire new areas, COC modifies existing enemies, Way of the Blue summons sentinels to help, and Heirs of the Sun is the co-op covenant.

In DS3 the Watchdogs of Ferron and Aldritch Faithful are the exact same, but in different areas, Blue Sentinels and Blades of Darkmoon are literally the same, and Rosaria's Fingers and Moundmakers are just pvp covenants with slightly different objectives.

So yeah sorry for the rambling post, it's just something that came to mind:

Playing through Dark Souls 3 is making me appreciate DS2 more and more.

    Posted: 04 May 2020 04:46 PM PDT

Things that DS2 got right that were lost:

    • Magic

    • Lore

    • Timing

    • Powerstancing

    • Magic

    • Build variety

    • Weapon viability

    • Unique locations

    • Magic

    • Environmental atmosphere

    • Open direction

    • Magic

The ONLY thing I wish changed is the enemy quantity (SOTFS is all I played), but I miss DS2, and I didn't realize I would this much.

Petition: I think there should be a sticky post or something in the sidebar about DS2 illusory walls.

    Posted: 05 May 2020 12:52 PM PDT

I tell people all the time about how they have to interact instead of strike illusory walls in DS2 and they are like "WHAT?! I'M HALFWAY THROUGH THE GAME WTF"

So...maybe we could help some skeletons out. Would hate to see any one of them go hollow.

Need Help (First play through of Ds2/sotfs)

    Posted: 05 May 2020 01:50 PM PDT

I reached Lost Bastille if I remember the name correctly I'm using the Ultra Greatsword from no-man wharf I need to two hand it since it requires 28 STR and I have about 18 I got Sotfs yesterday as a early birthday gift since well lock down I do no have ps+ so I cannot summon help I can't find a good quick but decent damaging weapon I find it a lot easier to run away from enemies than to fight them But that doesn't end well like in no mans wharf I had about 20 enemies following me so when I took a wrong turn I'd get really fucked up and just die My first experience in Soulsbourne was Dark Souls 3 so I think since I got to ng+5/6 I think I'm a bit too used to DS3's mechanics and the rolling and how easily my weapons seem to break and I'm most likely gonna struggle with the Ruin Sentinels What can I do to get used to these mechanics

Old iron king hole is fair.

    Posted: 05 May 2020 04:40 AM PDT

A very unpopular opinion but without that hole the boss is too easy. He does minimal damage for his size and moves incredibly slow and it's very easy to dodge through his attacks. Or you can stand around the corner to fight him where there's no hole. Imo anyone who complains about being knocked into the hole just needs to get better at fighting him.

    Best things about DS2

    Posted: 05 May 2020 02:44 PM PDT

You can climb up ladders fast.

    Champions covenant. Bonfire Ascetics.

You can enter a boss room without your summon sign disappearing.

Seriously, why did DS3 not have these lol. List anymore if you have any.

    Co-op

    Posted: 05 May 2020 02:26 PM PDT

People. Let me tell you. If you're a lonely soul and have single-playered this game for a long time, this is for you: find a mate to play with. I haven't had so much fun and laughed so hard in a long time. And it makes the game so much easier and enjoyable. It no longer feels like a gank fest. Some guy using a bow on you while another tanks? Np. I'll take the bow guy, you fight the tank and then we will get him together when I finish. Easy. Even the random stuff doesn't seem so bad. When we finished last night, he accidentally shot and killed me twice with the ballista during the Pursuer fight. Didn't bother me at all cause it was still so much fun. Just saying. It can get lonely out there. I don't want any of you to go Hollow.

Why is there quite a difference in popularity between dark souls games?

    Posted: 05 May 2020 09:17 AM PDT

Compared to dark souls 1 and 3, why is 2 less popular by quite some bit? I have only played 1 and I'm trying to decide which one to get next

I Love Shield. I also love Throwing Knife. They are my friend

    Posted: 05 May 2020 01:24 PM PDT

Okay, I'm finishing my first play, FINALLY, and want to know if I should consume the boss souls or make the weapons.

    Posted: 05 May 2020 09:21 AM PDT

I'm playing offline, pve. I don't have the DLCs even though I swore I downloaded them. The only bosses I have to beat are Darklurker, Ancient Dragon and Venderick. I'm running a strength, Dex build both at 40, everything else is at 30 except atn: 10, int: 8, Fth: 18.

I'd like to do a ng+ run so I feel I could do the boss weapons on my second play through.

    Advice?

Pursuer being a weirdo (scholar) ps4

    Posted: 05 May 2020 03:03 PM PDT

Playing through yet again and I reached the bastille but this time unlike usual I went through the back way from no mans wharf . I was running through the courtyard and to my surprise pursuer refused to spawn there(next to mcduff) no matter how many times I rested and returned. To experiment I went back and got the other bonfire on the opposite side of bastille (tower apart)and went to the room where pursuer spawns there. He spawned but twice in the middle of fighting him he just bitched out and sank back into the floor not allowing me to finish him. I eventually finished him off, went back to the mcduff courtyard, and got him to spawn but man what a weirdo. Anybody who understands his mechanics better willing to enlighten me about what was going on? Just curious

    [Trade][PC[DS2:SOTFW] Insolent Set

    Posted: 05 May 2020 01:59 PM PDT

I've just learned that you have to farm for it now, and I'd really rather not, the RNG is not being great to me so far. So if someone has extras, I'd trade whatever I have to get it. Any help is appreciated!

How's my build for the DLC in SOTFS?

    Posted: 05 May 2020 01:52 PM PDT

Hey everyone! Right now I have 40 Health, 40 End, 50 Dex, 40 agility.

I'm using a +10 Rapier one-handed with one of the stamina Regen shields on my back, and I'm using the Old Leo Ring, Flynn's Ring, Ring of Blades +1, and Ring of Binding. This wrecked ass in the base game but if there's anything better to use, I have tons of upgrade material.
