I recreated Firelink Shrine in Minecraft

    Posted: 08 May 2020 01:40 PM PDT

I had limited space (32x32 blocks) so I had to cut and paste a bit. Does this count as fanart?

    Anyway here's the links https://imgur.com/jHKqQtl https://imgur.com/MUUDQSQ

FINALLY defeated the black knight and made it out of the Undead Burg! I feel grossly incandescent

    Posted: 08 May 2020 04:24 PM PDT

I know it's minuscule but I was super excited to finally kick that big bastards ass. Also, beat the Taurus Demon and got my mitts on the Drake Sword (only found because of walkthroughs). I'm going to stop using the walkthrough now because I feel a bit more confident playing the game and have a better feel for the mechanics. Wish me luck!

    Undead King "Jar Eel" fanart

    Posted: 08 May 2020 09:56 PM PDT

Not sure what the dude's intended name was, but he was a lot of fun to draw! For those that don't know (just covering my bases here, haha) this guy is one of DS's unused/discarded assets; his animations and model are still intact in the game's code.

    I killed chester.

    Posted: 08 May 2020 11:35 PM PDT

and i fucking regret it. i killed him wanting his set (not knowing its absolutely terrible this late ingame, even worse in ng+). at first i didn't mind it, the entire fight he was mocking me and shit. once i did kill him, i genuinely felt sad, his death dialogue for whatever reason made me regret killing this innocent man:

    "Hrrg… You win…please… Oh, please…have mercy…"

that.. that hit me deep. there's something about this that makes me want to cry, knowing i just killed an innocent npc because of cool armour. i don't even know how to describe what i feel right now. many reading this will probably laugh at my stupidity, but this genuinely hurts me mentally.

    LEGENDS NEVER DIE

    Posted: 08 May 2020 07:45 PM PDT

Somebody dropped my soul lv 6 character a full set of giant armor +5 and when I used it to get through a lot of the game I passed it to a random summon.

PS: if your reading this pass it to one in need, don't let the flame die out

Anyway to stop the blacksmith in the catacombs

    Posted: 09 May 2020 03:28 AM PDT

I peek outside for a second and I go to the bonfire and then I approach the blacksmith and a damn skeleton wheel hit him and attacks me whenever I go to him. Anyway to stop it or did the game fuck me over?

    I'm tired of this bs

    Posted: 09 May 2020 03:49 AM PDT

I have been farming Red Slabs for over 2 hours now, and i'm starting to get really tired of the Chaos Eaters. I'm humbly asking, that is there a person who could give me one? I need it for the chaos wpn trophy :)

Any other similar games (not DS2/DS3)?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 02:58 AM PDT

I finally delved into DS1 a couple of weeks ago and I've just been beating it over and over again ever since. I absolutely love it. What I liked the most about DS1 was not just the difficulty curve, it was the sense of immersion and adventure, along with no bullshit bosses that are just a pure test of skill (let's just ignore the bullshit that is bed of chaos for a second).

After finishing DS1 I tried DS2. I'll finish it one day but there's too much focus on "lol we made this hard for the sake of being hard now here's a dozen enemies aggroed at the same time for the 20th time in a row" so I put that on the backburner for now because that's not what I'm looking for in a game. It seems to me that the sense of immersion and world building was completely lost in DS2.

So, on to DS3, and it's a good game but it's missing all the elements that made DS1 a favourite for me. It doesn't feel immersive, it's basically just one long beeline to the endgame, too many bosses have some specific gimmick (once I realized how you take down Yhorm, or even Wolnir, I didn't enjoy the win, there was no satisfaction in those boss fights knowing there's just one specific circumstance where they can be taken down), so I'm still playing it occasionally but I'm not being sucked into the world anywhere near as much as with DS1.

So is there anything out there that can scratch that DS1 itch or is this game really just in a league of its own?

Been playing dark souls for 5 years and I just discovered the lore

    Posted: 08 May 2020 10:58 PM PDT

I've been playing dark souls since I was little and I immediately fell in love with the combat system and gameplay. since then I've beaten the game countless times even finished sl1 runs for the trilogy. I kind of just forgot about the story. I knew there was some kind of story but I didn't know it was so deep and mysterious and fukin amazing. I just realized what I've been missing out on. Nothing really special to share. Just the fact that I cried like an idiot realizing how I killed sif a dozen times. I promised not to do another run of ds1 just to forgive myself

Anyway just started binge watching vaatividya and some other cool channels. Any suggestions for other cool video or threads about theory or lore? I would love to watch or read more.

TLDR: played dark souls for 5 years never really knowing the lore and regretting every time I killed sif.

"Easy bosses" that always give you trouble?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:06 AM PDT

In all of the souls games i think we all have one or two bosses that are considered "easy" by the community, but always give you issues on a new playthrough. I'm just curious what "easy" bosses give you problems. For example, Stray Demon in Ds1 always wrecks me! The amount of times I have fought and killed this fat fuck and it STILL gives me problems Haha.

Side note. I'm new to reddit and I recently posted a question regarding ds2 and got a lot of shit for it? So if this is a question that is constantly asked, I'll apologise now haha.

Watch LobosJR for his St. Jude month of Souls streaming.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 12:50 AM PDT

It's been a tradition for Lobos to mod DS1 and other soulsborne games heavily for the month of May, as 100% of donations and subs go towards St. Jude(as far as we know). Very interesting and hilarious person. Twitch.tv/lobosjr

I am not LobosJR, I am just a fan. Enjoy!

So I did some cool math and found that Havel's ring is basically like gaining the effects of Wolf, ring of steel protection, and speckled stoneplate for most situations, thank you stone bro for giving us yet another wonderful boon.

Which type of roll should i choose?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:45 AM PDT

fast - mid - fat. i can't decide! obviously I'm going to remove fat roll, I can't bear how slow it is. i love the fast paced fast roll, i personally am a more dexterity/endurance kinda guy. but even with fully upgraded light armour i still take a shit ton of damage. mid roll is really good too. i can somewhat dodge and roll and shit, and i like having actually good armour with at least some poise. but, its still slow compared to fast roll. both have one pro and one con: fast roll is super fast but i take alot of damage no matter the armour. mid roll is tanky and i take less damage, but im slow as hell. i cant decide which one!

Unpopular Opinion: Dark Souls has a great yet pretty forgettable soundtrack.

    Posted: 08 May 2020 06:01 PM PDT

With some exceptions like Gwyn, O&S, Asylum Demon and, Firelink, I can not for the life of me remember what bosses had what tracks. Every song sounds almost exactly the same.

Seath the scaless, impossible to beat(literally).

    Posted: 08 May 2020 03:29 PM PDT

OK so now I am in Archive of something and I reached the boss fight of seath. I died the first time and I guess it was intentional, but actually when I finished exploring the place and went back it was exactly the same. It's a room of ice, no crystal to hit and destroy and he just does an attack where he covers the whole floor with ice. I stay still, sometimes don't get damage but I can't do pretty much anything than just standing. I tried to hit him with bow (which is the only way for me to attack) and he doesn't get damage. In front of him there are some ice hills where I can't go. Am I supposed to go somewhere else first?

    Bonewheel level grinding DS1

    Posted: 08 May 2020 03:00 PM PDT

I haven't seen this on any guides no matter how hard I looked so I decided to post it myself.

So right after you ring the first bell of awakening you should be strong enough to explore the skeleton canyon thing and find Vamos, right? So once I found Vamos I went out the way broke in the wall and was confronted by the dreaded bonewheel skeletons, i ran up the hill (probably about a yard from the top) then ran back into Vamos' room and 3 bonewheel skeletons followed me, i got into the cave and turned around right up against the exit and held up my shield with enough room for them to go past me and hit the wall, where I quickly killed them gaining 1200 souls. Rinse and repeat

I got 100000 souls in about 30 min

Edit: and you get revenge on the bonewheel skeletons

When and how should I pvp?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:17 AM PDT

So I'm going on my first playthrough in dark souls and I'm basically finished with it with only gwyn to beat, doing the pre NG+ check list, and I'm interested in exploring pvp. The only time I've come into contact with online play is getting invaded and dying every time haha (want some revenge). I've also seen the oolacile building for pvp but too scared to try it as I don't know what I'm getting into. What do I lose or get if I do pvp?

Should I wait for NG+ or do it right now since areas are unlocked?

I'm SL 94 on my game.
