Seath the Scaleless as defined by Dungeons and Dragons Posted: 29 May 2020 01:14 PM PDT The Seath boss fight involves destroying a crystal which keeps him alive, and then proceeding to pound him to death before he curses you. He's a sorcerer through and through. A master magic so powerful he's discovered the secret to effective immortality, as was his life long obsession. In D&D there is a creature referred to as a Dracolich. Effectively it is a dragon who, in their fear of death, have undergone a ritual which traps their soul in a gem, keeping them alive long after they were meant to die. They are masters of magic, fear death more than anything, and are generally considered more insane than blatantly evil. Seath fits all these descriptions, which effectively means a D&D and dark souls fan could create a Seath Boss fight using the Dracolich stats. That being said, this could be a coincidence or just a fantasy trope that exist beyond these two pieces of media. I doubt Miyazaki looked at the monster manual and thought "what if this... but demon souls?" [link] [comments] |

DS1R The Hydra fight is pretty annoying.... Posted: 30 May 2020 01:14 AM PDT The hydra in darkroot basin is almost as annoying as Bed of Chaos for me. 2 times I've attempted it and got it down to the last 2 heads. Problem is these last 2 heads go to the worst places when they attack. One goes right onto the very ledge where the shallow water meets the deep one so more likely than not, I fall down to my death trying to reach it. In fact I died both times I attempted to attack this head. Its about a few steps out of reach of my black knight sword's swing. it doesnt help you cant actually see the border The other head attacks the beach area and when I walk that way it starts spamming the spit attack. Anyone else have issues with his behavior and knows of a way to make it behave the way you want? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2020 03:50 AM PDT I was fighting the 4 kings on my new playthrough, when one of them used the succ attack. Just like lore says, they are using this to succ humanity out of whomever. Well, if you have humanity in your humanity slot, you will actually lose 1 humanity per succ. These are things that make this game's world feel much more real, and another thing that makes me love this amazing game. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 11:17 PM PDT I am completing dark souls for the very first time and I am loving it so far. The challenge has definitely been a fun part of the game both combat and management. However, I have read everywhere about the elite Ornstein and Smough and was really excited to get to this point. This boss was the toughest the game had to offer and was punishing to the very end. Fair to say that I was a bit nervous but felt prepared. I beat them On the first try... I am still staring at my screen in disbelief. [link] [comments] |
I am playing Dark Souls for the very first time... Posted: 29 May 2020 12:58 PM PDT And here's all I have to say: FUCK EVERY BOSS THAT I'VE FOUGHT SO FAR AND EVERYTHING IT STANDS FOR! [link] [comments] |
The blue drakes really didn't want me to PB tonight... Posted: 30 May 2020 01:07 AM PDT This is the first time this has happened to me. I've been stuck on them and electrocuted to death, but never been forced to dance... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2020 12:50 AM PDT i had have a hard time grinding dark souls again just to beat the dlc and put this game away for awhile but thanku for my saviour conan who has helped me defeat artorias. He was one of the hardest bosses i have fought by far in this game even with my weapon bieng high i went human and summoned upon him hes my knight in shining armor and i pray you never go hollow [link] [comments] |
First playthrough, Just got to Blight town! Posted: 29 May 2020 11:19 PM PDT I fucking hate it. I want to die. I do so well then BOOM I get hit by a blowdart from narnia and I get toxic. I think there's hope then I get hit from some bs 180 full turn around and I die. This has happened 6 times now and I'm not a big fan. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 08:37 PM PDT Obvious spoilers. But, I'm beginning to think Oswald of Carim and Lautrec (also of Carim) may be acquainted. Now we know Lautrec gives you the info on Petrus. Side note: after talking to Petrus about it, my attitude towards him shifted DRAMATICALLY. We also know Oswald seems to know about him too after his dialogue when Petrus comes back minus one Rhea. I haven't done her quest, btw. So now one question bothered me: who told Oswald? Well, in my game, Lautrec has a habit of disappearing. Not the "killed the firekeeper" disappeared. Like, he disappears, then reappears sometime later. Been happening a few times. He'll show back up later or if I quit and reload, so I'm willing to accept it's the game being funny, but it's strange. Would also explain how Oswald knows: Lautrec seems to be the only person who COULD have told him, and he does disappear a lot. Now, I'm not leaving out room for "maybe Petrus confessed" because it's entirely possible, but does what I'm saying make sense to you guys as well? Of course most any speculation is entirely possible (and I appreciate that about DS) but it got me thinking. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible at all to consistently dodge the purple beam from the Four Kings? Posted: 30 May 2020 01:56 AM PDT Finally beat the Four Kings SL1 after much tribulation. That beam was shot at me at least 8+ times, and I successfully dodged it exactly once and only with dark wood grain ring on. No matter how perfect my dodges looked or how it looked like I had rolled well past it, that beam would still hit me like it had a hitbox twice the size of the visual. What gives? How do I avoid it consistently without simply blocking it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 07:14 PM PDT I get that most people are normal sized, but why are Ornstein, Smough, and Artorias so big like aren't they just dudes [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 06:18 PM PDT So I'm in Anor Londo and a silver knight followed me back to the non fire when I was tying to run away, and it killed solaire. I'm a strength and Faith build right now and I'm contemplating just restarting. I was wondering if I could get someone else's opinion on the matter [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 11:00 PM PDT Never got to try the arena because well it is dead anyone wanna do it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 10:21 AM PDT My first time playing dark souls and just killed O&S today but I don't know where to go next? And should I go after gwyndolin? [link] [comments] |
Beat Dark Souls Remastered today! Posted: 29 May 2020 06:17 AM PDT I'm so excited. I played this game on PS3 when it first came out. I really liked it then but I quit playing because I got cursed in the depths and got frustrated. Anyway, a few months ago I picked up the Trilogy for PS4 and started playing again. I love the game and the world so much, but boy oh boy did I hate the Gwyn fight. After about 12 tries I finally got the parry trick down and put him away for good. I'm gonna take a break from these games but I'll 100% keep going with the series! [link] [comments] |
It‘s funny how after all the Soulsborne games Dark Souls 1 is still the hardest. Posted: 29 May 2020 11:51 PM PDT I mean, in this game everything can kill you if you're not careful enough. Having blasted through all of Bloodborne, Sekiro, DS3 I'm still struggling on some sections of Dark Souls (aka Catacombs-Tomb Of Giants; Upper Blighttown -Depths-Lower Undeadburg). The enemy placement in this game is award-worthy if we're talking about how difficult it makes the progress. It's nowhere near that way in other games. DS3 has best games design but in terms of difficulty it is as easy as Bloodborne. And while it has some bosses like Dancer or Pontiff even those can be beat in less than 5 times. Bloodborne is not hard at all which actually leads me to believe that this game was made easy on purpose for it to be praised by journos. The DLC Was a lot better tho. Sekiro can be really hard on bosses but I never died to regular enemies. Even my nemesis — Gravity has killed me only 10 times throughout the whole game. DS2 is not as easy as Bloodborne, but it was still pretty easy early on and it almost never changed throughout the playthrough except for a few bosses. After beating all those games it really makes you feel wonderful actually. Especially for me (the guy who can't accomplish anything irl, heh). I've played through NG+ on DS1 and DS3 and it really makes you feel powerful. And for those who can't make themselves beat DS1 and 3 you can play Bloodborne. Not only is it easier out of all From's games but it also makes you feel badass, something that is catastrophically different from Dark Souls series which made you feel like a nobody in the start and like a god in the end. So yeah this was lōng but I hope you got my points. What was the hardest and the easiest Soulsborne game for you? [link] [comments] |
So uh... anyone want a black knight sword? Posted: 29 May 2020 07:10 PM PDT I have all of 6 black knight swords I clearly dont need, so if anyone wants to do some trades I'm open to some ideas. Mostly need sunlight medals and red titanite chunks. Also a BK Greatsword and BK greataxe. Maybe a Halberd soon too [link] [comments] |
Dark Souls 1 Boss Difficultly Ranking Poll Posted: 29 May 2020 08:43 AM PDT I've recently gotten back into gaming and I've been finding out a few things with my new found love for games. 1. The Last of Us is amazing. 2. The Last of Us Part 2 leaks are not so amazing. 3. Ghost of Tsushima is looking as a top game of the year contender. And 4. Hidetaka Miyazaki wants to hurt my feelings. I've been revisiting some FromSoftware games and I've had a tough time with them. As to be expected honestly. I'm currently on a journey through Bloodborne and once I finish it I'm gonna give Sekiro a play through for the first time. But playing the games have me thinking, "am I the only one who gets dominated by these bosses? Is it just me who died 15 times to the Cleric Beast because I was too passive or greedy?" That second one is not one of my proudest moments, but we aren't worrying about feathery, fuzzy, dinosaur, coyote thingy right now! We are looking at Dark Souls 1! So I bring this to you now. Answer this poll ranking the Dark Souls bosses from 0 to 10 in terms of their difficulty. 0 is "this barely qualifies as a boss" and 10 is "is this the Cleric Beast?" That second analogy is just my example but you get the point. Go get 'em! Results will be announced in another post on Sunday. https://docs.google.com/forms/u/0/d/12lwucnL8IwL_5u_2l1m_AaoYEN9ue00XoKJLb69ej4I/edit [link] [comments] |
My weapons suddenly do no damage? Posted: 29 May 2020 09:52 PM PDT I have the required stats and the weapon isn't broken (handaxe) but against the moonlight butterfly and enemies that came before it only dealt 18 damage per hit or so [link] [comments] |
Humming the Firelink Shrine theme for several weeks already. Posted: 29 May 2020 01:40 PM PDT The OST's in all of From's games are so good but nothing reminds me more of a safe space between the turmoil of the fighting and drama more than this track. It makes the Shrine feel so much more like home. I know this is kind of obvious since it's the player's base but the music adds up to that so much. I never got that same feeling from the DS3 Firelink Shrine even if overall in that game the soundtrack is much better. Though (while I am leaving the topic it's an interesting thought). Is the best soundtrack the more complex one or the one that hits all the right notes in your soul? Because right now when I wrote that „overall" in DS3 the soundtrack is better I suddenly remembered the feelings I got from Sif's theme, Gwyn's theme and O&S... DS3 still has a lot of amazing tracks but is it fair to call it the better one just because it is more complex in it's execution and sometimes sounds more... (hell I really didn't want to say that word but here it goes) epic? I want to hear your thoughts. [link] [comments] |
Does dark souls remastered go on sale for ps4? Posted: 29 May 2020 11:07 PM PDT I want to get it after playing ds3 and waiting for Elden ring ooooooooohhhhhh [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2020 12:26 AM PDT I've tried dark souls like 5 or so times and every single time I've loved it until I got to my hurdle and every time my hurdle got a little further. My last hurdle was O and S, i went to go and farm more humanity to get sunbro and then I got stuck in Sen's. I do like this game and I want to play it properly all the way through. Does anyone have any advice for Sen's? I'm fine right up until the last little walkway with the four scythes really close together. I don't how many countless souls I've lost trying to run past those scythes... [link] [comments] |
Is there a mod that makes Tomb of the Giants bright? Posted: 30 May 2020 03:02 AM PDT Yeah I know, I will get fucked by you guys, but hear me out, I am scared of the unknown, not dark exactly, I don't mind nights and all that, nonono. But, unknooown, that's something that makes me shit my pants, that's why I hate the ocean for example! Soooo, is there a way to make the Tomb nice and bright? ;) [link] [comments] |
