    Epic level design trolling

    Posted: 27 May 2020 12:16 AM PDT

So, as I mindlessly rolled trough a stack of boxes, this happened. To whoever designed this level: good job, you're a master troll.

P.S.: I got the full Nadalia soul, is the DLC over?

This Is For Those Who Are Having Trouble With The Looking Glass Knight

    Posted: 27 May 2020 09:21 AM PDT

When I first started fighting the Looking Glass Knight, I would take a lot of damage, and wouldn't have any opportunities to heal. Here's some tips on how to kill him.

Before anything else, don't give up. You'll eventually kill him, just keep trying.

First off, you're going to need to start dodging when the attack is about to hit you, not when the tell for the attack starts. He locks onto you.

Try rolling to his right, and always stay behind him. Always roll when he's going to attack, even if you're behind him. He can turn around mid-attack.

You may think that you have no opportunity to heal, because if you make distance between him and you, he will thrust attack you. The best time to heal is when he's doing his lightning attack. Back up, and heal. If you have extra time, punish.

At the beginning of the second phase, he will summon either a player, or an enemy. While doing this, he will push his shield to the ground, and his shield will break. Stick behind him, and wail on him.

I suggest trying to hit the Looking Glass Knight instead of his summon. he will use many lightning attacks, so you can easily punish him.

I hope this helped, comment any questions you need about him, or request a new help manual.

How bad are invasions right now?

    Posted: 27 May 2020 07:35 AM PDT

So I am trying out DS2 after DS1 and Bloodborne. I am playing online with my brother on PS4. We are aware playing together makes it easier and not as big a challenge but we just wanted a bit of fun online, nothing more.

My main problem is the crazy invaders we are getting. People with massive invisible weapons and other obvious late game items. My girlfriend who is an expert at all soulsborne games says people can use a ring to keep the soul memory low and then just fuck up inexperienced and early game people. Should I just expect this to be my experience now?

I just picked up Vendricks armor

    Posted: 26 May 2020 02:05 PM PDT

So I just defeated Vendrick and went to pick up his armor. And I love how it says "An old armor that is oddly comfortable", I found that pretty amusing. That was all.

    SotFS needs a Switch port

    Posted: 26 May 2020 07:18 PM PDT

Would anyone else love to play this game on the go? I've had a blast replaying DS remastered on the switch. The 30 fps lock doesn't seem bad at all on handheld and there is plenty of online activity.

Now we need DS2 on the switch! Please FromSoft, take my damn money once again so I can powerstance ultra greatswords!

    Bonfire Ascetics

    Posted: 27 May 2020 08:57 AM PDT

As a completionist, I really appreciate that you can use bonfire ascetics in DS2 in order to reset specific areas (to get additional boss souls, for example) without having to go into entirely new NG+ (and beyond) playthroughs like was necessary in DS. (That final half playthrough to get the third Sif boss soul weapon/shield was pretty joyless by that point.)

But I do understand that I need to be cautious with the bonfire ascetics, as the effects are irreversible. So, my questions are as follows:

If the soul of a boss from a certain area only provides one unique weapon or item, does that generally mean I should feel pretty safe in using a bonfire ascetic (or two or three) for that area - say, for farming souls or items that reset in that area? Or are there any other factors I need to keep in mind? My general sense - possibly very uninformed - is that I should play it on the safe side until I've made sure to attain all the unique items and boss souls, as well as farmed any rare drops from enemies, from a particular area. After I've secured those, I can feel pretty free to use the bonfire ascetics without much fear of any dire consequences. Again, if there's something else I'm missing - or if there's something I likely need to go into NG+ for - please share!

    Appreciate any feedback!

File Locations of DS2 Unused Map Areas

    Posted: 27 May 2020 10:08 AM PDT

Now while this isn't normally a subject on this sub, but I'll ask anyway since I haven't gotten an answer on r/DarkSoulsMods

I wanted to take a look at the files for the unused areas that never made it into the game (i.e. the Prototype Iron Keep and the Colosseum that would be replaced with the Undead Crypt). However I don't know where to find them.

I used UXM to unpack the files; was I supposed to use something else besides UXM, are they in a different folder than the "models" folder, or are they only in the original DS2 and not in SOTFS?

    Posted: 27 May 2020 12:16 PM PDT

As title says, wondering if anyone had a table for covenants like blue sentinels/rat covenant, would like to be able to pvp in grave of saints and not just farm only rat tails if possible lol.

    Platform is PS4 also.

    Crystal Lizards

    Posted: 27 May 2020 06:19 AM PDT

I heard a rumor that it's actually possible to kill these little guys, I have even accidentally done it a couple times, but I just can't find a weapon that can reliably connect its hit box with this thing. Best luck I've have thus far has been with thrusting swords, but even those have proven inconsistent.

What weapon have you found to be the best for eliminating these critters? They're driving me fucking loony.

    Dexterity build poison ideas

    Posted: 27 May 2020 05:33 AM PDT

So i recently started a full All-boss co-op playthrough with a friend of mine and i was wondering if anyone knew exactly what the better poison daggers are to power stance for applying the poison effect. e.g. are the Mytha blades the best because they are naturally infused with poison, or should i be infusing other daggers but enchanting them with poison resin as well for better results? Thanks :)

[PS4] anyone for co op with looking glass knight? I am 1.6 million sm, needs sun medals

    Posted: 27 May 2020 01:14 PM PDT

    What do i do.

    Posted: 27 May 2020 01:09 PM PDT

So I bought the game because I love ds3 and was looking for a new story line, I also own ds1 so I thought that I would just get used to the differences again. But after playing for a little bit, (Just beat the pursuer), I just don't really know if I want to continue. I think the main downside is the weapons, and animations. For the weapons, in ds3 they had some amazing looking weapons, but I just can't find that in ds2. And for the animations, as weird as as it sounds, everything seems too smooth. What do you guys think, and do you know of any cool looking weapons, that I might want to try?

    Completed The Game

    Posted: 27 May 2020 12:28 PM PDT

Finished all DLCs and hunted all 41 bosses last night. And now I have completed every game from Demon's Souls to Sekiro.

I had the most fun in the Old Iron King DLC. Blue Smelter Demon wrecked me 9 times and gave me a rush, the first for any of the DS2 bosses. Went in with a high expectation for Fume Knight and found him relatively easy, especially when he powered up. (I wanted him to power up) He still got me 3 times though. Sir Alonne was also an ok fight. 5 times.

Ivory King DLC felt short. And yeah, Horsefuck Valley fucking sucks.

My friends wanted me to make a tier list of boss fights. This list is based on how I felt fighting them.

    https://tiermaker.com/list/video-games/dark-souls-2-sotfs-bosses-ranked-410345/596847

2 years ago, I absolutely hated every aspect of this game. In fact, my friend and I started Bubsy 3D and Dark Souls 2 respectively as an April Fool's joke.

But over time this game grew on me. It has its own charm. It is still a Souls game at heart and exploration is fun and bosses, even though most of them were easy (likely because I am just used to Souls bosses now) I still had a lot of fun hunting them down.

    SoundProblem: level 214, 57 hours 18 minutes 49 seconds.

I am moving onto Cuphead. Thanks for all the help. You guys stay awesome!

    Issue with Soul of Nadalia

    Posted: 27 May 2020 06:16 AM PDT

I'm in NG with a new characrer, coming back to the game, now i'm on the DLC. I've found all the Smelter Wedge the 6 gotten at the start, the 4 after the Elevator Bonfire and the piece that i get after killing sir Alonne. Problem is, that i killed the Fume Knight before take down Sir Alonne and right now, i have 11 Nadalia scraps of Soul. To make it simple, the Fume Knight didn't drop it. I'm pretty sure i looked around everywhere, and got all the idols down. Can't find other Smelter Wedges in the Inventory. So, i came up with 2 thing: Fume Knight did not drop Nadalia Soul or i did not get the Smelter Wedge from Sir Alonne. Asking for any kind of help, a guide to idols positioning would be helpful. Or even hints. I even used an Ascetic on the Fume Knight Bonfire just to fight him again, but nothing, still 11 Nadalia soul and no Smelter Wedge..... pls any kind of help

I over-leveled, and I am not ashamed [that much].

    Posted: 26 May 2020 03:33 PM PDT

Just arrived in No-man's Wharf at SL 100. Running a primarily dex (or dex-leaning quality) build with 40 DEX, 20 STR, 20 VIG, 20 VIT, 20 END, and 20 ADP. Did not use any bonfire ascetics, but did do quite a bit of grinding in The Lost Bastille while in the Covenant of Champions - which, coincidentally, gave me access to my beloved Uchigatana from DS1.

Aside from a being a coward, I like having the flexibility (even through re-spec., if necessary) to try out different weapons, armor, builds, etc., while actually playing through the game for the first time. Plus, I couldn't help but feel like gaining early levels in DS2 is considerably faster than in DS1.

Anyway, after mocking me, please offer any thoughts on the points allocation. If I take this in more of a quality build direction, should I move some points out of ADP and into either END or VIG in order to carry some more weight and rely on a shield?

    What are your favorite boss?

    Posted: 26 May 2020 11:46 PM PDT

There are so many bosses in DS2. it would be very hard to choose between them as a favorite.

You can make a list, but what interests me is the #1. The Top of the top. The creme de la creme. The boss that you will never forget about. Please also explain why it is your favorite. I am DS newbie so it would be very kind of you to explain.

Edit: If you are already at it, I would also like to know your least favorite :)
