For the first time ever, I managed to turn the Four Kings into the Three Kings

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 05:51 AM PDT

I'm doing a STR/FTH build in my current playthrough and beat the Four Kings last night. I used a Zweihander+15, Sunlight Blade, and Power Within. Oh my God, it was awesome. I've used the trick where you can hit each King during its death animation for additional damage in the past, but I've never done enough damage to be able to completely skip the fourth King.

The ladder down to Blight Town is my favourite part of Dark Souls levels

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 07:01 AM PDT

You travel down from the Undead area, into the Depths. You traverse deeper and deeper into the Depths. It's dark, it's dingy, there are ugly rats and frogs poisoning you, there are traps everywhere causing you to fall. It is horrible, it is tense, it is a struggle and you are down there forever, and now you just want to see the light.

You beat the boss, and open the double doors. "I'll be going back to the light now, surely".

But nope. There's this huge hole in the ground, and a long ass ladder. The realisation hits that you are still very far from home, that there is no turning back to the Firelink Shrine. You are stuck here and the only way is down.

Further into the deep you go, like an entry into hell. And then you're in Blight Town.

It's awesome and I love the whole build-up and entry into Blight Town.

YOU DIED! I don't draw much and I got a bit carried away with the charcoal, but I'm happy enough.

Guys I just beat Ornstein and Smough!

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 09:08 PM PDT

So far through DS I feel like I haven't really been tested with the combat, until I walked through the fog gate and saw the two demon spawn for the first time. It's taken a while, but it feels so rewarding to have memorized two bosses' move sets and be able to properly execute your own. Thank you Dark Souls

We're all in the suck... And that's good!

    Posted: 21 Apr 2020 02:04 AM PDT

So I'm on my first playthrough at the moment and after beating my head against the wall with BoC and unfortunately having to kill Solaire, I made my way back to knight seeker frampt and disposed of my boss souls. By this point, I was pretty depressed by the environment of this game: from having to put Solaire out of his misery to finding Siegmeyer dead, I was just done. I wasn't hollowing, I was just meh. But when I opened the massive door in front of the lordvessel, holy crap was it epic. Walking down the stairs with silver knight ghosts trespassing the white space while melancholic music hummed over. It was eye-opening and when I got to the bottom and saw 'Kiln of the First Flame' appear over the screen, goddamn the view was heartbreaking. Everything reduced to ash, broken buildings and the silver knights who look like they never left.

Even for my 1st playthrough, the feeling of opening the door to the view of the kiln is unlike anything I've seen or felt in any game ever in my life. I got me thinking that yeah versing BoC and Capra Demon sucked but when I saw the kiln, I was taken back by how tragic it all was. I feel like sometimes in this game, we may be having it bad at times and think we are alone in this but really EVERYONE is in the suck. Like poor Solaire and Siegmeyer, the figures of hope that stuck out like a stubborn thorn in this dark depressing world. Poor Iron Golem having to deal with Iron Tarkus, poor Sif etc... (I could go on all day).

We are all in shit places and its liberating in a way, no one is given special treatment no matter how strong, powerful or intimidating we are, we're all going through the same thing.

    We are never alone

    DS:R PS4-How do I reinforce my weapons after +5?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 03:51 PM PDT

I was told divine weapons, and others max out at +5 but normal weapons can get up to +15. I've turned in all the embers to the blacksmiths that I had. (Andre and the Giant Blacksmith) If not that then I dunno. On another note, turning the crystal ember in allowed me to make weapons from souls, though only from Gwyndolin or whatever the name is. I have soul of Gwyn (someone dropped it for me after summoning them, greatly appreciated) but I still cant make anything.

The souls currency theory- Not much a theory because it can be nitpicked easily.

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 11:33 PM PDT

Sorry if this has been talked about before.

I have for the longest time wondered about the Dark Souls currency, souls. Not about why you buy and sell things for them, that much is clear.

I wondered about why some enemies have more than others. Like a rat and a drake. Why would something like that have more than one/ one at all in the first place.

Much like Gael tries to take your soul at the end of the Winged City DLC, killing something gives you its soul when it dies.

And why some enemies or bosses have so many souls and why weaker enemies have fewer is simple. The amount of times you, and everyone else, dies to them. When you die, its not like any other game where you progress is deleted and you restart at a checkpoint.

You're undead, unable to die right. You can be slain a thousand time and keep going back. Each death you and all other undead suffer is a soul collected by whatever killed you. Why rats have so little and why Gwyn, or the Soul of Cinder have so many. Its simply because they are more deadly. And each death is a soul stored away, waiting to be plucked by the Undead.

Through the convoluted time in all of the Souls space, we all give the enemy its worth. Each death is a mark on how deadly something is, and how valuable its life is.

    We are the currency.

A drawing of Sif I made a while back for practice after getting all the achievements in DS1. I don't know how to make posts properly, I usually just lurk here, so I'm going to post a link, hopefully that's ok.

Ornstein and Smough are a pain in the *ss

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 07:05 PM PDT

I've known about this fight for awhile, but haven't played it ds1 only ds3, so I was excited to go at it. Little did I know they'd be flipping me around like a rag doll..

Now ng wasn't too bad, in a few tries I got it (I killed Ornstein first), but ng+ and trying to kill Smough First.. atleast 20 tries and lots of frustration. I don't remember feeling so angry at a boss before and I've played ds3, bloodborne, and sekiro.

Beating them felt AMAZING. And the reason I went for Ornstein last in ng+ is because I'm going for platinum.

I have the worst rng ever

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 10:44 PM PDT

I always wanted to have the black knight halberd in Dark Souls one and when I first started the game I literally looked up where to get it. Sadly neither the one in darkroot basin nor the one in the tomb of the giants dropped me one. Fast forward to my second playthrough, the same thing happened. I calculated the chance of not getting a halberd in 4 black knights and its literally 0.00000625%

    Fuck

    What's the point?

    Posted: 21 Apr 2020 04:39 AM PDT

So me and a friend started playing dark souls remastered again and we had this case:

we both got invaded by people (3 different players mind you but we both had the same invaders) that ran the exact same setup. every time they didn't even bother dodging or sprinting because they knew they are op af.

first at undead parish second one in blight town (don't even know who would want to invade there lol) and third in anor londo 2 sec after kindeling the bonfire which is insane because i didn't think the game was still this active which is great.

Anyways they all just spam combustion or great combustion or smth and it just kills you instantly. these fights didn't last more than 3 seconds also due to them being in in areas where i couldn't really dodge or get away.

So i was just wondering what the point is? I mean i'm not mad but just annoyed a little nothing more. but it must be boring because i can't imagine people are having fun one hitting other players in 2 seconds and it's over. no thrill of chasing or fighting so why even bother?

After 2.5 play-throughs with the same character, I finally have the knights honor achievement!

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 04:09 PM PDT

Imgur link for some proof: https://imgur.com/a/Yvi7rYN

This was really difficult to get and I just want to show it off. It took 2 full play-throughs and 1 play-through up to O&S to get this achievement. I did most of it myself but I traded for some of the farm items.

    Specifically I bought:

    Channeler's Trident
    Black Knight Greataxe
    Black Knight Halberd
