FUCK THE IRON PASSAGE AND BLUE SMELTER DEMON Posted: 07 Apr 2020 09:35 AM PDT Alright, so this is my first playthrough of the game and HOLY SHIT the iron passage, the run up is pure cancer. They put loads of enemies that jist spam and gank you to death, infinite fireball shooting fire lizards, bullshit mages that can MAKE YOU FAT ROLL, enemies with bows that somehow dont fucking miss and you know what yoy get? The smelter demon but blue, absurd health and damage for how you get to him, a longer sword even though the other was fine, fucked up timings and he is not different at all in looks. What? Couldnt they have made an original boss? They clearly can seeing as the 2 other bosses are among my favourites in the series. I know your going to say oh the frigind outskirts is worse(which i havent got to yet) or the shrine of amana is worse(it actually has slightly less bullshit and an original, but bad boss) or the cave of the dead is worse(no i can actually run past everything and while the boss is bad it can be fun, especially stunlocking the archer to death). To end i actually liked old dragonslayer which might seem hypocritical but he was fair and actually fun, and wasnt copied from the same god damn game(lud and zallen is worse). Thank you for coming to my rant Edit: i have now made a rant on frigid outskirts, shrine of amana next? [link] [comments] |
Unpopular opinion: Alonne is harder than Fume Knight Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:46 AM PDT Just beat the game and all its DLC. Every time I play this game it reaffirms to me that SOFTS is better than DS1 and DS3. (However, Bloodborne is the best FromSoft game). If you asked me before this playthrough who the hardest boss in DS2 is, I would have answered Fume Knight. However, this time Alonne kicked my ass while I solo'd FK in my first try. I think FK's moveset is very dodgeable (albeit devastating if he lands a hit). And he may be the only boss whose second phase is easier than the first. Alonne has some easily avoidable attacks as well, but the speed alone makes it harder to recover stamina and heal. Also, his curse stab attack got me every time. So in short, taking the hellish run out of the equation, I still find Alonne to be harder than FK. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 01:32 PM PDT After a tough days work, went back to Fisherman's Wharf to see if I could farm a Sea Bow Anyway, invaded by a phantom called I think Twin Sails - after the emotes we started flinging dark orbs and he just fell off the pier,, classic as I am pretty bad at PvP [link] [comments] |
I have conquered the Frozen Outskirts and completed SOTFS! Posted: 07 Apr 2020 05:50 AM PDT Now I have to finish my PS3 backlog before I start Dark Souls 3. [link] [comments] |
Do Bonfire A E S T H E T I C carry on to NG+ Posted: 07 Apr 2020 01:41 PM PDT |
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 09:51 AM PDT So yeah, I unfortunately fought Mytha in full poison arena. I'm currently on a blind playthrough so as you can imagine there is a lot of stuff that I miss (also fought the Lost Sinner in pitch dark -_-), but man did I get mad when I discovered that you can get rid of most of the poison... I was cursing that whole boss battle because it looked like some sort of stupid DPS battle, if u can inflict lots of damage in a short amount of time (before your estus run out) you win, if you can't, well we're sorry but you loose. It seemed ridiculously unfair. After hours of grinding and upgrading my weapon from +8 to +10 I ended up having enough damage to win. But I was still furious so I went to see what other people thought of this boss fight, and then I stumbled upon it. Ok, it was kinda my fault for not exploring the area a bit more, but still, I don't see how is it obvious that burning the windmill would somehow clear the poison (in the Sinner fight it is pretty obvious that you can light the arena, I felt pretty stupid afterwards). But overall, I'm liking this game, don't know why so many soul fans hate it. [link] [comments] |
Ornstein, The Old Dragonslayer, and theories about his fate. Posted: 07 Apr 2020 11:29 AM PDT So, me being in quarantine, I have been thinking about Dark Souls 2 again, as well as replaying it. As I was watching a speed run and got to the point where they fought the Old Dragonslayer and he did the buttpound, I realized... wait. Ornstein, in his DS1 fight, does not have that move while Smough is alive. He only gets that move after you kill Smough, but he also grows larger. MUCH larger that he is in the Cathedral of Blue. So my theory on this part is that somehow, Ornstein survived his fight with the Chosen Undead, but Smough did not. Ornstein left to search for the Nameless King, and Smough was recreated by Gwyndolin as an illusion, with nobody knowing that he was dead. This could be why Smough was called "the last knight to remain at his post" when in reality he was dead and put up as an illusion. This is why Aldrich eats Gwyndolin, because the Chosen Undead didn't kill him. So what happened to Ornstein? He dies, not by the hand of the Chosen Undead, but rather by The Bearer of the Curse in the Cathedral of Blue. He has been searching for the Firstborn for an unknown amount of time. His armor has become worn, and he has given up dragonslaying, throwing away his lightning magic for darker magic and letting a dragon hang out outside his house. The Bearer of the Curse kills him there, with his armor eventually making it over the centuries to Archdragon Peak, most likely due to the same forces that move the sunlight altar (that of developer magic, I can't really explain how then armor goes from shiny to dark to shiny again) So that's my theory on Ornstein, The Old Dragonslayer, and to some extent the Daren of Smough and Gwyndolin. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. [link] [comments] |
Just beat Fume Boi. What a great boss. Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:35 AM PDT Missed the dlc first time through so I went in on ng+. Did sunken king first. Have to say, despite getting my ass kicked, I had so much fun. It forced me to respec, and use a weapon I had never used. Feel like this boss taught me the most in terms of memorisation and observation. Did everyone enjoy this boss as much as I did? [link] [comments] |
What was the point of No Mans Wharf Posted: 07 Apr 2020 12:33 PM PDT I went through the entire area just to go on a boat which takes me back to the bonfire which I already discovered ages ago in Lost Bastille.. Now I once again don't know where to go [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 01:57 AM PDT I find it really annoying when i have to traverse a level having multiple paths leading to different items. I was stuck for like 4-5 hours trying to get all the items. Most of the time i fall to my death. The poison statutes don't help either. I feel like every souls game I've played yet has that one annoying level. BB had the nightmare frontier, DS had Tomb of the giants, DeS had Valley of defilement (hardest one yet), so I'm guessing DS3 also has another poison swamp level? Going into the back gulch, I just want this level to get over with and then i head onto Drangleic Castle. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 06:12 AM PDT I'm addicted to all the Soul's games since I have ADHD and perfectionism, never done much with pvp because I was too busy collecting all the wonderful items but now I want to try and maximize the covenant ranks and am intimidated by playing those who excel in this style of "gameplay"any advice would be appreciated. Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:49 AM PDT I'm playing through for the upteenth time and am doing a pyro run (which somehow I don't think I've ever done). What are some interesting weapons for pyromancers? They don't need to be good, just interesting or fun. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 02:30 PM PDT This is a sequel to my "FUCK IRON PASSAGE" First off i actually like the ideas at play here, youre in a snowstorm (cool, new, interesting), enemies spawn when the snowstorm comes (cool, new, interesting). Thats where the good ends. Because how they are implemented are bullshit and annoying. So, you have a frozen wasteland with a few enemies in it(some being bullshit npcs that have the ability to un stunlock themselves, i thought these dlcs fixed this?) The buildings look weirdly placed and seem like the devs were like "ah, just stick shit everywhere". Now....THOSE FUCKING REINDEER FUCKERS FUCK THEM FUCK FROMSOFTWARE THESE GUYS DESERVE THE NAME B TEAM JUST FOR MAKING THESE FUCKING EVIL MOTHERFUCKERS EXIST, on a more calm note WHY DO THEY HAVE A MORE DIVESE MOVEST THAN HALF THE BOSSES IN THIS GAME? They shoot lightning, 3 shot you, have loads of health, are fucking annoying, if i could make a mod i would call it, "less reindeer fuckers mod" where 2 of them spawn every 6 years. Hmm what else? Well after all of that you get....a gank reskin of aava (which is a good boss), they are exactly the same but they are black....wat. Their attacks dont mix well as they are the same, go figure. I wouldnt be nearly as mad if: they had way less health, they looked different (same species, maybe ones fat and slow, maybe one looks old as shit, or maybe one only does range, that i would accept, but not this). Side note: what if royal rat authority was just a big rat with a dwarf riding it? That would be good game design. Anyway, what is your reward? No fucking idea. I think you get a good weapon, but i wouldnt know as this is the hardest boss ever, i struggle more with this than gael from ds3. Overall shit area -16/10, iron passage got a solid 0/10 Anyway for all 2 of you who see this please tell me what i should rant about next. [link] [comments] |
Can bonfire ascetics be used to buy more spells? Posted: 07 Apr 2020 06:56 AM PDT Sup guys in the middle of my first ds2 run, going hexes, can you use bonfire ascetics to buy multiple copies of a spell? [link] [comments] |
Different Bash and Jump Attack Timings from Console to PC Posted: 07 Apr 2020 02:20 PM PDT Has anyone else noticed the window for bash and jumping attacks is significantly tighter on PC than it is on console? Although I've had no trouble performing those attacks in any console entry, they've been effectively removed from my PC arsenal. I'm playing original Dark Souls II on PC with a controller. Posted: 07 Apr 2020 12:09 PM PDT Deciding to use a soul vessel into a mage build, been using lightning greatsword +10 most of my playthrough but now the moveset is starting to piss me off, especially when having to bonfire astetic areas for the trophy quest lines! Any ideas on what weapon to use aswell as staff of wisdom? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Apr 2020 11:08 AM PDT So I seen ds2:sotfs on sale on the humble bundle and decided I'd give it a go since its been years since I played it. First thing I've noticed has been the movement feels really stiff compared to ds1 and ds3. Feels like I can't turn my character without just making a 90° turn. Has the game always been like this and I just forgot or are there some settings I'm missing to make slight turning movements take directional push [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:57 AM PDT I'm hunting for all the trophies with all my extra free time being home from work right now. Having a really hard time with Sir Alonne. I've learned his pattern well enough and can admit that when I die to him, more often than not, it's my own fault. The thing that is driving me crazy is the route to his fog gate, I can't stand fighting all those twinkle toed knights and running past them almost always gets me killed. I need some jolly cooperation!! I'm NG, lvl 200, soul memory 5.6 million Edit : playing on ps4 [link] [comments] |
