Played all three dark souls games, never used The Greatsword until now.

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 08:50 AM PDT

Man, I LOVE THIS THING. I've beaten DS 1 and 3 multiple times with different builds. But I only played through DS2 one time, and that was just to get to 3. I did a quality build with a heavy shield and claymore. Easy peasy, nothing exciting.

This play through I wanted to do something a little more interesting ang really take my time so I went with a Faith Strength build. The miracles are kind of meh so far, the extra healing is great though.

But my +10 Lightening Greatsword is AMAZING.

I started the game with the mace and levels it up to +5 and it was great with its stunlock but the reach was killing me. I then got the Dragon Slayer Crescent Axe and got it to +3, a little more reach and seemingly faster swings, I like it a lot. Then, I wanted to try something I hadn't before. A big old beefy Greatsword. The Greatsword. Man, I love it. Killing 4 enemies with one light swing, or smashing a larger enemy with a heavy one handed swing then killing him on the back lift. I'm loving my second play through so far.

Anyway, just wanted to shout out to The Greatsword.

Any advice on Faith/Strength is appreciated too.

What if Dark Souls II had a "collect all the rings" achievement/trophy?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 08:09 AM PDT

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls III have this trophy, and it wouldn't be much of a hassle to get all the rings in Dark Souls, but Dark Souls II has some really messed up challenges to acquire some of the rings.

    • Ring of Thorns +2: Invade and defeat the host 1,000 times.
    • Lingering Dragoncrest Ring +2: Defeat 1,000 invaders.
    • Illusory Ring of a Conqueror: Clear the game without dying.
    • Illusory Ring of the Exalted: Clear the game without resting at a bonfire.
    • Vanquisher's Seal: Covenant of Champions' rank 3 reward.

And I was wondering, how rare would the platinum for this game be if there was an achievement/trophy for collecting all the rings on the same character?

Can I get some Fs in the chat?

    Posted: 21 Apr 2020 07:37 PM PDT

Hey all, first time posting here. Just finished up a no death no bonfire run of SotFS, it was my first time doing it on this title. I sat proudly through the credits awaiting my rings of pvp debauchery...

until I only got one. The no bonfire ring, the Illusory ring of the Conqueror. I quickly ran to the obelisk in majula in offline mode and surely enough my death counter read "0".

Nashandra cursed me!!! Apparently, that's enough to count as "dying". I have screenshots as proof, justfeelsbadman.

tl;dr succeeded no death no bonfire, cursed by nashadra and got one ring. RIP

    ss proof: https://imgur.com/a/7F6WH15

edit: thanks to only_safe_meme's observation, I have the no death ring, and somehow failed the no bonfire aspect. I feel like this post gets a double F in the chat now. Thanks team

Can you sell items in Dark Souls 2

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 12:50 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I recently picked up DS2 and I've been wondering, can you sell items in this game? I have doubles or triples of armor and swords, and I was wondering if I can sell them.

First playthrough and holy... Black Gulch is an absolute shitshow and a half

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 08:26 AM PDT

Just finished up the area and fought The Rotten, and oh my fuck, that area was an actual big juicy poison dart in the ass... when I reached the bottom of The Gutter I was so glad so be rid of the dark area then I was greeted with a welcoming colour of green and the title BLACK GULCH and FromSoft trolled me hard as I thought it couldn't get any worse than Gutter lmao...

I couldn't count how many times I ran to the boss fight with all the poison statues, oil-bros, Woodland Nudist and Penis Bugs. (Edit: and Big Balls Forlorn) Then I realised there was a bonfire area with a statue that took 100 hours to unfreeze.

    Good move, From.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game and I'm onto Shaded Woods next as I've finished all of the other areas before it. Here I go lmao.

What exactly would have happened if Nashandra got access to the First Flame?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 05:58 AM PDT

I know she's a piece of Manus and an entity of darkness, but what exactly was she trying to do? I know that at a base level she's the most power-hungry and conniving of the Manus remnants but I've never been able to pick up what she was trying to accomplish. She's a being of darkness, so wouldn't her getting a hold of the First Flame usher in an Age of Darkness? But if we follow the lore of every other choice we get, the age of darkness is the same thing as an age of man/hollows. How is what she was doing any different than taking the 'dark ending' in every other game?

Why is sunlight medal farming so annoying?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:49 AM PDT

So i am trying to get the dark soul achievement (only need the heirs of the sun miracle). Getting summoned doesnt work because of soul memory and the fact very few new players seem to come to this game. And then you have the farming...in dark souls 1 the sunlight medal drops were pretty good (without item discovery equipment i would get one er run of the sunlight maggots) but in this game, its not nearly as good. So the enemy (i think) that drops them the most is those falcioner guys, which should be fine. Its not, the enemies suck to fight (they parried the crypt fucking blacksword, are fast as fuck and do loads of damage) and the drops are so low (even with the item discovery stuff) that it becomes really annoying. Is there any other way of farming? Or should i just give up, i want to.

    About the lore

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 02:10 PM PDT

Posts about ds1 vs ds2 are very common and as such I often read that the lore and themes of ds 1 is superior to that of ds 2 without any arguments to back up that statement.

I personnally disagree. I think that the lore behind Vendrick and Aldia, the two most powerful beings of their time, trying to to overcome the curse and ultimately fail is well fleshed out and supported by the different bosses, locations and weapons descriptions.

Aldia brings about the element of agnotiscim( Plato's cavern allegory) when he mentions that life is but a prop. I find this is both a satisfying explanation that doesn't ruin the mystery and a clever nod to the digital media.

Not all the lore serves that idea of course, but in my eyes that only fleshes out the world more. That earthen keep has its own story is more interesting than having everything revolve around the main storyline, we explore a whole continent across different timelines afterall.

Characterwise, I think ds2 has the best characters. They all feel different, are usually well fleshed out and have some of the best storylines( thinking about Lucatiel here). In ds1, they're either memes, boring or a variation of slightly ommious.

I posted this here, because I know there's a lot of people here who like ds2 but prefer ds1 and I felt I'd get more insighful answers from them than if I'd posted this in the other subs.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: Falconers are worse enemies than the reindeers in reindeer fuckland and this games combat doesnt help

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 12:59 PM PDT

I just fucking hate them, they look stupid, do loads of damage, can block with a shield down, have the shityiest drop rates for sunlight medals and can parry a fucking crypt blacksword. What the fuck. At least the reindeers looked cool, still a shit enemy though.

Did someone hack me on ps4?!!

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 05:11 AM PDT

So I was invading a couple of nights ago and during one of my invasions, I thought I had come across a host who just wanted to be friendly. I obliged and he dropped me both of the no death/bonfire rings (which I no joke had just completed like 3 weeks ago anyways so I already had the fucking rings). Digging around online and I came across a few other posts saying this can happen, an item in your inventory is crashing your game.

And whaddya know... whenI go to open my inventory my game crashes. every. single. time.

I've tried another character with no issue. I deleted DkSII, rebuilt my database. Deleted ALL of my games and rebuilt database. I installed a different HDD and redownloaded The back up I do have is this recent file too so I'm SOL there.

Nothing else makes sense. So how can this guy do this on ps4? And how with rings? Unless I picked up something else I didn't realize. I can still assign quick select items as far as I know, I didn't test it too in depth so we'll see. And if you're out there reading this, go fuck yourself dude. You low life cunt.

Where is day 5 of that one guy doing that one run?

    Posted: 21 Apr 2020 08:47 PM PDT

I know youre all gravely missing my daily posts and hearing my struggles. Ive just been taking a little break for a couple days to get some work done, play other games, working out e.t.c. I did do one run today where I got to Tseldora but I sort of fell off the cliff in the Freja boss fight... dont ask. Ill probably get back to it around thursday and you can all finally be happy once again.

Finished DS3, want to start DS2

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:32 AM PDT

Could someone please compare them. What would one who played DS3 need to know before starting DS2? Main differences. Also, how's the difficulty compared to DS3.

Lastly, what about content including dlc, is it more or less than DS3?

    Fume knight second phasehelp

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:50 AM PDT

His second phase is nigh impossible. You rarely have any openings. His sword slashes are impossible to predict and he will constantly change his patten without any warning. His sword slashes are also really fuking hard to predict cause he attacks near instant(like alonne knights). His one attack that leaves him wide open, like the slow swords swipes is really hard to dodge because, hit boxes(tried rolling into it. Doesn't matter)and the aoe fireball attack requires you to stay away so when I got back in he's already ready to attack. The only attack that's possible to dodge and punish is the leap attack and running thrust , which are hard to bait out cause he'll just zoom into me for sword slashes. Any help? I can get past first phase without any problem but in second phase I can't attack him while he and his shitty hit boxes keep ducking me up. It's making me FUME.

    Next soulsborne title

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:37 AM PDT
