Bloodborne fanatic starting DS2 for the first time and boy this is exciting Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:41 AM PDT I've seen maybe the first 2 areas of the game and it seems really cool, I like the look of the Forest of Fallen Giants and the tower! This is really going to be a treat! I'd like to start off by saying I've read the 'so you just bought Dark Souls 2' thread and it's been extremely helpful in the preparation of the playthrough and I've played Dark Souls 1 & Bloodborne but no other From game. Almost 99% of the time I play strength and DPS builds so I'd like to get some advice on how I approach this character and what weapons I should go for. My other styles are: I like fast roll & quick move-sets as well and I like going for high DPS, so I don't really want any extremely heavyweight items, I like a good balance! I know to get the fast roll I should level up Agility, but what other levels should I go for in order to gain high damage but not waste any points in other places! I'm new to this community so say hi! I'm quite active in the BB subreddit! [link] [comments] |
Just bought it on PS4 for 15 quid Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:34 AM PDT I've played dks1 + 3, bloodborne and sekiro. I've completed all but Sekiro, the final boss made me give up a couple of months ago. I've heard so many negative things about dks 2, from visual style to unfair mechanics. But with everything being the way that it is I thought fuck it. Low key excited now. [link] [comments] |
Not all curved swords have the same parry frames Posted: 15 Apr 2020 07:03 AM PDT So uh, I am an amateur CE user and I like to mess around with stuff to see what happens. I found an interesting offset under the weapon param section that has to do with parry frames, which are bound to weapons, not parry animations. I noticed that weapons have different values for this offset, ranging from 0 to 1 (1 is used by monastery scimitar and parrying dagger, the other weapons are around 0.5) Curious thing: in the curved sword category, the scimitar and melu scimitar have this offset set to 0.6, whilst other curved swords have this set to 0.5 I tested to see if it had an effect on actual parry frames and turns out it does! Scimitar and melu have 14 startup and 4 active, the others have 15 startup and 3 active :/ Still useless to parry with, but interesting to know. EDIT: The game fucking calculates online parry frames using the players own code, this means that editing that parry value and increasing it actually makes you (the one who edited it) easier to parry. I tested it, it also applies to crit mults, they are client side and thus work the same way. GG from [link] [comments] |
New PvP Video Warped Sword/Gyrm Greataxe Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:03 PM PDT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu32EoF5aUc Made a new video since my last one was well received here. Added some Gyrm's because it's one of my favorite weapons. [link] [comments] |
Planning out my achievement run. Are there any missable spells/collectables? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:08 AM PDT Hello, In Dark Souls 1 you can miss your chance to buy certain spells from NPCs based on when you kill bosses and progress. Are there any "gotchas" in DS2 like that I should be worried about when doing achievements? I did not see any on the wiki but I wanted to be sure. I have beaten the game. No worries about spoilers. ds2 dlc was a let down after playing bb, ds1 and ds3’s dlcs. Posted: 15 Apr 2020 02:14 PM PDT i do like ds2 and i think it's an alright game but god damn i think the dlc is so underwhelming. the iron king dlc was the first one i played, and imo it's the best out of them all. brume tower is an interesting concept, exploring the top and bottom im order to beat it. the bosses were unique, even though the difficulty wasn't too high because 40 adp is op, fume knight was a joy to fight bc of his massive sword, smelter was an interesting spin on a boss that i already liked, and alonne was just a cool and well designed boss. however the other two, i just couldn't like as much. the sunken king dlc had an area that wasn't fun to explore bc of all the traps and item fetch tasks. forlorn could also invade in an area with 3 drakeblood knights because i love forlorn invasions so much fun. the witch boss before sinh was boring, and sinh was really underwhelming. everyone praises sinh for being one of the best dragon fights, so i was anticipating a ds2 version of midir or kalameet, but i got toxic fire tiny arms boi. cave of the dead was awful, its like if the black gultch and the depths from ds1 had a cursed child. the boss of that area was another let down since it was just a pvp gank fight with havel, alva/bradley, and lucatiel. (but why are they here?) the mobs in the dlcs also irritated me, since the standard small mobs were recycled, with different color pallets and designs for each dlc. Eleum loyce, while beautiful, was a pain to explore, the recycled covetous demon mini boss, and the golem knights who took less hits than a small mob. alvaa was boring, its a big cat with the swoopy woopy paw slash attack woah cool. i do love the burnt ivory king tho, the fight has great music, great lore, a great arena, and a cool moveset. the final area of the dlc, the frigid outskirts is just.... no... why? the reindeer are annoying, and they respawn without resting at a bonfire, making it a pain to find the boss since the area is HUGE with nothing fucking in it. Lud and Zallen are just Alvaa, but theres 2, and its not even nearly as hard as those god damn reindeers. fromsoft usually has dlcs better than the main game, but ds2 doesn't imo, feel free to share you opinions, i'd love to discuss more about this kinda stuff :) [link] [comments] |

Just beat ancient dragon for the first time!! Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:39 AM PDT Okay so I've beaten this game a couple of times but always avoided the fight because I've heard it's an endurance fight because his health pool is massive but I finally sucked it up and actually got him on my first try. It wasn't as bad as I thought but still a tough fight! Loved it [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:10 PM PDT Really, though, I love seeing stuff like this. Miyazaki dropped the ball by removing the ability to watch multiple deaths at once. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:04 PM PDT I just started playing DS2 after DS1 and Bloodborne, I'm managing to go through the game but I would like some tips. I'm already aware of agility, so far I've done the sentries in the bastille and went to that woods with the thick fog and already gave the ember to McDuff. So for starters, I'm doing a sorcerer build because I was told that was the easiest to start. I'm using soul arrows for basically anything but it is getting a little boring. My melle choice for now is the falcion but the damage is not the best, what should a sorcerer build do? I don't have a lot of titanites to upgrade the weapons and don't know which stone is better, that is if I went to infusions, for my build or how to acquire them. Also read the description of the crescent scythe, is it good for a sorcerer and is it too far away? I'm stocking boss souls now, should I consume them, or is there a use for one specific soul for a sorcerer with dex? Is it worth to just level agility through attunement? Later in the game, does torches get more common? because I used a lot of them in the no mans warf. And also it appears that Pharros lockstones help with that, but what exactly they do and are they rare? Thanks for reading the post, any tip will be of great help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:56 AM PDT Trying to farm for covenant ranks, only received 12 in 2 hours from the shaded woods falconer run. Have every discovery aid equipped bar the use of rusted coins. Any help? [link] [comments] |
so i just got to rank 2 in the bell keepers Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:35 AM PDT fuck bells and everyone who uses them god damn took a long time [link] [comments] |
I just won ds1 and started ds2 Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:38 AM PDT I'm trying to give it a fair shot even though I've heard this is pretty much the worst game in the souls. Are there any tips that you guys have to enjoy this one more, or is it gonna just be a slog to get though? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 09:57 AM PDT So i made a post yesterday about the elana bossfight. I finally managed to beat her solo today , and also managed to beat sinh on the same day Feelsgoodman Now i only need to defeat the gank squad and i can move on to the next dlc Anyway thanks for the advice you guys gave [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 09:43 AM PDT I made a new character and decided to be a little haphazard with where I go instead of following a map. I'm about to face the Flexile Sentry at No Man's Wharf with a close range character and I need all the help I can get. I first talked with Lucatiel in NMW (exhausting her dialogue), then went to Lost Bastille and talked fully with her there, and her summon sign at the Wharf is gone. Did I goof, should I have just gone straight from talking to fighting the Sentry? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:36 AM PDT Hi everyone, i just got very recently into the dark souls world through the remastered version on switch and even though i still havent finished the game properly i already lost countless hours playing it and trying builds and weapons on multiple saves. That being said, i cant play switch as often as i want to because i share the console with someone else, so i was looking for another challenge i could get into on my PC. Im not really interested in buying the remastered version twice and Dark Souls 3 doesnt run properly on my PC, so i was curious if there is an active comunity of players on the Dark Souls 2 servers or if everyone left to play other souls games or something else since both DS3 and remastered came out after this one. TLDR - Really enjoying DS Remastered and wondering if i should get into DS2, are the servers popullated? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 09:13 AM PDT Ive played this game in it's beginning, in it's revamp, and now maybe for good... It's end.. I got sotfs again with my girlfriend who is a from soft fan aswell(she started with BB and beat it and souls 3). Remember Drangleic like an old friend , the hours I spent in my first playthrough one vs one these fights(Velsdat I hate you, oh God oh F spiders, Vengarl your my OG)... Another life with my friends(iron keep fight club homies give a shout out)... And finally one more... With a loved one and who was inexperienced to ds2. The times of her whining were quite amusing. (What do you mean my health decreases at the get go! Wtf is adaptibility! F-CK LEDGES, F YOU HORSE CHARIOT. I hate this Greeen place!!! (Blackgulch)) Seeing her struggles made me chuckle, but I assisted her through it all. Like soliar for us in ds1, I made sure she did Lucatiels and Benharts storyline, Aldia (which flipped when she realized the connection between him and ringed city in ds3). We witnessed the king's and queens of other ages (Fume knight is always a pleasure). Of how they rose... And fell, and the souls who were caught in it all... It comes with great pride and nostalgia to see the throne once more.. but I think this..time... I'll let some other chosen undead sit there...I'll go see what other adventures lie for me out there.. P.S. - She has stated ds2 is her absolute souls favorite (BB still trump's it but it was her first so duh) P.S.S. I told her not to touch the lever....she didn't listen... [link] [comments] |

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:00 AM PDT It seems as if the dark souls community really dislikes dark souls 2, probably because of the weird rolling times and the 'clunky' combat as well as the fact that depending on the class you choose at the start, you will start with around half the invincibility frames of ds1. Mechanics The rolls have to be perfectly timed to avoid attacks, especially with arrows, the rolls aren't as hard as those in dark souls 3 or 1, but have to be delayed. Parrying is the hardest in all the dark souls games, and the riposte is delayed, where you have to wait for the enemy to drop to the floor in a stagger before riposting them. And, idk about anyone else, but my friends have said word for word that the game feels clunky. I found it to be fine, and I don't know what they mean. Also, you can't just strafe or constantly block like one does in dark souls 1, as I have noticed that all actions that use stamina, now use a lot more stamina, such as rolling or blocking. Ds2 also has like 40 something bosses, whish is more than double of the other games, I think. Levelling in ds2 is also made extremely easy and plentiful, idk why, maybe you just get more souls or less of a cost. I have found it to be that on average I would run through the game and be lvl 120 ish at the end, this remained constant throughout a few save files, note, this is without doing the DLCs. Levelling and scaling Levelling is easy. Made easy by the tiny cost and the plentiful souls you'll find, as well as the respawning of bosses via bonfire ascetics. All stats slightly increase hp. Vigor- greatly increases health, wow, I know, so complex. After about 30 vigor, most players would see that the payoff is less than the effort put in, as the more that health is increased, the less it will increase next time, though the decrease only happens at 20, 30 and 50 VGR, I believe. Also increases petrify resistance. Endurance- increases stamina, and when kept at the same level as adaptability, will increase poise. Increases physical defence. Vitality- increases your equip load, at first by 1.5 points, then at 20 VIT, it will increase it by 1 point, then at 30 VIT it will increase by 0.5 points. Increases physical defence and poison resistance. Atunement- shortens casting duration of spells, increases curse resistance and AGL (agility). Also increases amount of spell slots, at 10 ATN slots will be 1, at 13 ATN slots will be 2, at 20 ATN slots will be 3, I think. Strength-do I really have to explain? Increases scaling damage on weapons that scale with strength and increases physical defence. Dexterity-again? Really? Increases scaling damage on weapons that scale with dexterity, increases physical defence and poison and bleed bonuses. Adaptability-increases poison bonus, posion and bleed and petrify and curse resistances. Increases poise when leveled alongside endurance. Increases agility. Intelligence- increases casting speed. Increases magic and fire attacks, as well as hexes(dark), also increases the scaled damage for weapons that scale with magic fire or dark. Increases magic, fire and dark defence. Faith-increases casting speed. Increases fire, lighting, dark and bleed damage bonuses as well as their resistances. Scaling Scaling is great. The higher the stat, the more damage. Certain weapons require a certain number of a stat, like 12 dexterity, if the requirement is not met, even by one point, the weapons damage will be reduced greatly, like a lot. Gold icons represent requirements and green icons represent the scale effeciency for that stat. Scaling can be of many effeciencies, like S or A or B, C, D, E, and -, '-' means that there is no scaling for that stat. S is the best scaling possible, E is the worst. As you improve a weapon, its scaling effeciency will go up, giving you more and more damage. Armour in ds2 is a key component and can nullify near all damage, and it can be improved. Improving armour is amazing, your defence can be doubled from just fully upgrading your armour. Upgrading Standard weapons and armour can be improved up to +10, which I believe, doubles the items original attack or defence. These upgrades use titanite shards, followed by large titanite, titanite chunks and finally, the legendary: titanite slab; said to have been used to forge the weapons of the gods themselves. For special items, they will either require twinkling titanite or petrified dragon bones, and can only be reinforced to +5. Leveling strategy: As most of you would know, adaptability is the only stat that matters, well, not really, but it's important. The higher the agility your character has, the quicker they can use items like life gems or estus flask and the more invincibility frames they'll have. With a low adaptability you will be sitting at a bonfire and the boss that you haven't even met yet will clip you from the other side of the map, in other words, please level adaptability to at least 25, 15 if you're feeling frisky. After you have leveled adaptability sufficiently, then do whatever, just don't get hit. Tactic for n00bs: I used this tactic my first few playthroughs of ds2, it's actually a good tactic, no hard feelings. For a beginner to the souls games, I would recommend purchasing a rapier from the blacksmith you unlock, lenigrast, keep in mind you'll need 12 dex and 9 strength to use it, and use the rapier as your main weapon, it is a very good weapon. Tactic for n00bs such as me: This one is bad, scummy even, I still use it though. Once the player if far enough into the game and is able to venture into the hole in majula, you will come across a weapon in a chest up some ladders right before the black gulch bonfire, and the weapon is great club. Great club deals exorbitant amounts of damage when done right, and can stun lock most enemies, as it deals 60 poises damage, poise is the ability to withstand blows without staggering. And 60 poise staggers pretty much all enemies, even some bosses with one hit, some will take up to 5 hits to stagger. But one heavy attack from this weapon and whatever enemy you were facing will be squashed into the ground and ready for your next strike, or five you time to heal. Also, you will want to purchase as many lifegems as possible, this can be done after getting melentia the hag to move to majula after beating the last giant, then you can buy life gems from her infinitely. 300 souls apiece. Uh, what else can I say...uh...git gud, you're waifu Trash and emerald herald is best girl, ight, hope this crappy guide helps or amuses some of yous, this quarantine got me doing sl1 runs....
