I entertained myself by invaiding (Anor Londo LVL 35) and then I came across a world with 3 summoned phantoms and with the help of some incredible luck, I won 1 against 4. I'm literally shaking now. | I'm Beginning to Understand [Noob] Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:48 PM PDT As a person who, up until now, has almost exclusively played games on easy mode for the joy of feeling like an absolute overpowered god, I'd avoided SoulsBorne games like the plague for quite a while. I felt like they were created for gamers who were my polar opposite. Then quarantine came, and I thought what the hell, let's give it a go. Two days in, I just beat the Taurus demon. (I'm sure it's incredibly easy for you folks, but it was an accomplishment for me!) Now I get it. I loved learning the boss, figuring out how to beat it, and--critically-- getting its health down a little further each time. Even though I kept having to fight back to the same boss, I felt like I was making progress. Then actually beating him? Holy shit. I'm hooked. Looking forward to seeing what this game throws at me next! [link] [comments] |

I've been a console player for a long time, and I've played dark souls on console before, but never on pc. Decided to try with the 'dsfix' mod since I know that vastly improves the game's framerate when it comes to blight town. Booted up the game, started a new game and boom, crash. I've looked up solutions, I've removed the DINPUT8.dll file (which supposedly disables the mod) to see if the game starts up and nope. I'm a brand new pc gamer so I'm honestly unsure of what to do or what else is going on here. Oh also, I read somewhere that the .mov files (the cutscenes) may have been bad, so I deleted those too. Game still won't start. Any recommended solution, here? [link] [comments] |

| The Deprived or: how I learned to stop worrying and “git gud” Posted: 14 Apr 2020 05:02 PM PDT I read through the answers for what class to start with on the thread. Keen to get started on my first play through, and weary of spoilers, I only skimmed the comments. The first one that had good reasoning was from a user stating the best starting class for a beginner was the deprived. It had so many upvotes and replies (I didn't read them - I wanted to avoid spoilers) that I reasoned it must be the true best starting class. Their reasoning was you start with high overall attributes and no gear - so every weapon or piece of armor you find you can use and see what you like/appreciate it more. Now here are the highlights of my first journey: Died to the skeletons before the asylum demon... thrice! Died to the asylum demon. Twice. Figured out that dodging is important. Fought asylum demon. Dodged. Died. BEAT ASYLUM DEMON! Got to firelink shrine. Died to giant skeleton near firelink. Realized enemies have a small chance to drop loot. Figured I just sucked so farmed the skeletons over and over until I got a pirate sword!!! Found out (2 hours in) that there are easier enemies on the way to what I would find out is undead berg. Whooped their butts. Died to rats. Died to rats. Killed rats. Killed more skeletons. Died from poison -_-. Accidentally aggro'd merchant and died. Thought merchant was a boss so I fought him a bunch. Got a katana from him! Got to black knight. Died a million (12) times. FOUND MY FIRST NEW BONFIRE IN UNDEAD BERG. ... Are you KIDDING ME?! THERE ARE MORE BONFIRES?! THERE'S A BONFIRE THEEERE?! ... Then I got gud and beat the game. Would I suggest a first timer starting as deprived?! Hell no! Get a shield to start PLEASE! But it was fun for me. [link] [comments] |

So, I decided to dive back into my old copy of Dark Souls for the Xbox 360 (I'm under self quarantine and I'm bored). I've now unlocked all 1000 gamerscore in that version too. I had previously made it only as far as ringing the first bell before I put that version down many years ago. I can now finally scratch that one off my list. [link] [comments] |

Man it was frustrating to spend 20 attempts on her getting oneshot by her explosion but the satisfaction from beating her is amaizing holy moly.
