Started a No Bonfire Run ... it's pretty wild Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:30 AM PDT You can't rest at bonfires, only light them, so you can't restock Estus or teleport without using homeward bones. I actually feel like it makes the game better. Going somewhere feels more like an actual journey than before (Kind of like in DS1), lifegems start making more sense as a source of healing and Majula makes you feel at home even more. You also play much more careful and are more engaged in the gameplay because not only is damage a much bigger deal than before, but death is also more punishing. Had a very close fight against the forlorn as well as some of those big dudes in Lost Bastille. Cost me most of my healing items but damn did winning that and returning home savely afterwards feel good. [link] [comments] |
Faraam Cosplay - Cobbatron Props Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:38 AM PDT Thought I'd share my Faraam Cosplay with a group that would enjoy it! I made this back in 2017 and have made a few more Souls cosplays since. I'm starting work on an Alva set now! [link] [comments] |

This game is bloody huge! Such an underappreciated game. Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:59 AM PDT First playthrough, about 7 1/2 hours in and I'm only at Lost Bastille having exhausted the FoFG, Heides and No Man's Wharf areas and I'm still at the beginning of the game! I have noticed a lot of the areas in this game are quite dark so far and I haven't even gone down the gaping hole yet so expecting more dark areas, not a fault, but I'd like to see more daytime areas though! You can tell that From were given a proper amount of time to flesh out this game and really focus on it. What are the areas you absolutely love? Heides is probably my favourite area so far, and I actually quite enjoyed No Man's Wharf, I basically used the bow throughout for the first time and it's actually quite OP and I don't even have the proper stats for it, I literally 2 shotted powerful enemies in that area!? Gotta say this game is full of so much stuff and equipment to experiment with, I was going to do a strength build before I fell in love with the Rapier and I moved on to a DEX sorta build now and Ooze 2H R1'ing the bosses is really fun. I do know some little details about the game such as Felkin, so I was wondering when I reach him should I buy dark weapon to put onto my Rapier? I'd like to still be quite powerful as the game progresses but I feel like I'll be a little pokey bitch eventually as there's about 30+ bosses to go. I don't want to make a mistake and waste my souls, though. TL;DR Great game! At Rapier +5, 2H R1'ing bosses is fun, should I invest in dark weapon for it to get even more OP or is that a waste of time? I'd love to be able to still bully the bosses as the game progresses. Posted: 17 Apr 2020 02:10 PM PDT Hello everyone! Like everyone else here I like the soulsborne series, and especially Dark Souls II (like a lot). So recently I was checking out this awesome discussion thread about the Earthen Peak elevator by emmetsbro821, and Trencha linked this cool vid which then got me down a rabbit hole to this cool vid. Now in that video towards the end there was a mystery scene in the distance that you can not normally see. In the comments I went digging to see what people said it was, and nobody really knew. You can't see it directly from Majula, which makes it weirder. Most of the opinions were that it might be the Undead Crypt, which should be further east behind Drangleic Castle and underground (deeep underground). Well seeing as how I haven't really contributed as much as I should have here, and I love maps, I went digging and searching around. Turns out I didn't have to go far! I went straight to the first place I could to get closer, which we see in the foreground here is the two statues near theCardinal Tower. Look similar already? Here's two pictures layered on top of each other, and Here I drew lines to try to distinguish the different areas. It looks like this mystery area is actually the same (round about) place as the 3D two-stone-knights foreground in front of the skybox, and they added the 2D background at some point for the "back wall" instead of actually modelling it - even though you can no actually see it form Majula to my knowledge. Or for that matter from Heide's. It turns out it's part of what I like to call a layered skybox, which is a term I entirely made up to sound like I know what I'm talking about. Well thanks for reading everybody. Fun small adventure, didn't last near as long as I thought it would. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:14 AM PDT I would love to see the community's opinions on certain things (etc best/worst areas or bosses or best weapons). I feel like polls wouldn't be annoying as like images or videos. You could say it would be repetitive people posting the same polls but different people are online everyday and new people are always joining, it adds variety to opinions on matters. Day 2 of ye olde deathless no bonfire run Posted: 17 Apr 2020 06:28 AM PDT Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post, it was great talking to you all about the run and my thoughts on the game in general. This update is gonna be a quick one, I didnt get the chance to play too much yesterday and I didnt make any major progress. Attempt 11: died... to pursuer. I messed up the balista. Attempt 12: The Important One of the day. I made it through most of the gutter but I went to reply to a text and to just have a quick break whilst at the top of one of the ladders down towards the gulch... and well when I looked back at the screen. I wasnt doing so great. Attempt 13: I wasnt paying attention and walked off a cliff Attempt 14: I wasnt paying attention and fell down the side of one of the broken bits of path in the bastille. (Im sensing a pattern) One good thing is that attempt 12 allowed me to practice the gutter/black gulch a bit and I dont think itll be much of a problem from now on (assuming I look at the screen whilst playing.) I havent quite decided if Im going to do iron keep or Tseldora first yet sooooo Im open to suggestions. I also havent gotten the chance to play yet today so expect a short update again but over the weekend well be back to your regularly scheduled programming. -that one guy doing that one run and wasting your time by posting about it [link] [comments] |

Character types that work better in DS 2 than other games in the trilogy? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:33 PM PDT Tonight, I'm embarking on a journey to finish each of the DS games in order. My plan is to play very different characters in each, so I'm looking for thoughts on which character types work best in each game compared to the others. Basically, I'm not asking which builds are overall viable in each game, but which shines brighter in DS2 compared to a similar build in the other two games, in an effort to get the best experience for each of three different playstyles. For example, do offensive miracles work better or worse in ds2 than the others, or do the enemy designs in this one favor slow heavy weapons over dex builds, etc. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:14 AM PDT I just got a new computer and because ds2 doesn't save to the cloud that means starting a new character. Should I play a hexer or a pyromancer? I don't really care about how "strong" they are, just about how fun they are. I've already beat the game with a str/faith build and gotten most of the way through with a pure dex build. Which one should i buy Ds2 SotFs or? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 03:07 PM PDT So i saw on steam that dark souls 2 was on sale, i recently finished the dlcs of ds3 so i decided to purchase ds2. But i was confused about one thing. I don't really know the difference between Dark Souls 2 and Ds2 SotFs. Which one should i buy? What are the main differences between them? And can i buy the dlcs for the SotFs edition aswell? Tl;dr: SotFs or nah? Why? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:42 AM PDT Nagetto96, if you're out here, I cannot thank you enough. Aava was about to make me throw my console at my screen, kept dying over and over again. Even when I almost insta-died at the tenth time, this legend kept placing his summon stone. Big up for patience, I owe you a monitor. [link] [comments] |
I don't know if this is allowed, but I have a question Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:45 AM PDT Is there a sub to trades for DS2? I've kind of been in the need of healing items. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Apr 2020 02:12 PM PDT I want to play through dark souls 2 for the first time, but should I buy the original version on steam or scholar of the first sin edition? What's the difference? [link] [comments] |
Can't play with my Playstation controller on PC. Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:50 AM PDT I have purchased ds2 softs edition trough steam today, but I can't use my DS4 to play it. I can navigate with DS4 in big picture mode but as soon as I launch the game the controller stops working. Any advices? (a new 360 controller will cost me 6 times more than the game itself) [link] [comments] |

Question about CE and illegal save data Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:53 AM PDT I have a pirated ds2, that i mod almost constantly (texture, freely level up etc) I also have a legit copy of DS2 that i haven't touched. Now my pirated save data has nothing illegal in it, mainly i just change how armor look, unlock camera to get a screenshot to use as a desktop, and i use everything in the pirated version to not get banned on my legit copy. Now in the pirated version i have nothing illegal, but i did give my souls alot of souls (used soul of old one) and kept consuming it, giving myself enough souls to level 400. I didn't touch soul memory, i don't have any weapons that i shouldn't have, i only leveled myself and i used souls from consuming, didnt add souls directly. Can i use the save data from my pirated version to my legal copy without getting banned? Because the play time on steam is 0, and I'm already beaten the game couple of times and I'm level 400. How do u rush through iron keep? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:47 AM PDT I have at least over 2k hours and went over 30 ng+ on one character but i never understood how to constantly rush the iron keep... i skipped it a couple of times by accident but i just can't get arround it how do you rush the iron keep area on max ng+? Is 'Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin' on steam the entire base game + DLC? Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:10 AM PDT The description is a little convlutued and I can't tell if it's the whole game + DLC or just the DLC. It's on sale for $12 right now so I want to buy it. I've beaten DS3 and am currently on DS1 so I want this for when I'm done DS1. [link] [comments] |
