I was just killed by Pinwheel!

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:16 AM PDT

It actually happened... I remember the very first time I completed this game. I sucked at everything, and every single boss gave me a hard time. It took over 10 tries before I defeated Gwyndolin, it took over 20 tries with O&S (with Solaire's help mind you), even the Moonlight Butterfly made me his bitch on that first run... I loved it, and still do, but oh boy! Nothing came easy.

And then I fought Pinwheel. And it was easy. Like, insanely easy, out-of-character-for-the-game easy. If I could soundly beat him, surely everyone else would cut throught him like butter. And sure enough; Pinwheel is a joke on every Dark Souls forum known to man. No "Actually, a pyromancer can't blah blah blah against Pinwheel" or "Tanks are too slow to blah blah blah against Pinwheel", just all-around consensus on this one thing regarding Dark Souls; Pinwheel is the easiest boss.

And then today, during my NG+++ run (I'm trying to make every boss souls weapon for my character at the moment), with my lvl 164 (yup) character I run into Pinwheel's rec room, getting ready for that sweet soundtrack, and wondering which mask I'll get this time... And then he beat me. I actually died against Pinwheel. This has never happened before, not even close! And you know what?

Good for you Pinwheel! We're all laughing at that poor, inept Necromancer, who could easily be smacked around by your non-gamer girlfriend if you gave her the controller just for the hell of it. Today Pinwheel said:" STFU bitch!" and fireballed my butt... So give it up for Pinwheel. I'm 99% sure he will never again manage, nor ever has managed, to kill a player above lvl 100. Respect!

I made a Dark Souls style boss fight in Animal Crossing

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:20 PM PDT

I´m a casual and Dark Souls broke my entire experience in terms of gaming

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 01:46 PM PDT

    Holy crap.

I´m currently suffering from even trying to enter Blighttown and I´m way to frustrated by now to try it again today.

    BUT:

    I can´t play another game.

    Seriously.

After I played a fantastic game like Dark Souls, everything, like Shadow of the Tomb Raider or even Skyrim, seems to be absolutely bad from a quality-standpoint. Linear or bad stories, boring environments, easy enemies, simple bosses, not-so-well-thought systems. Games these days just think their players are straight up stupid.

I love Dark Souls, it was brought to me by a friend and I would never have guessed, that I would ever learn how to play games like these.

But I learned it, liked it, played it, slow and steady.

Now the only games, which may reach that level in my libary, are Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 3.

Games I don´t want to play parallel to Dark Souls.

So: I´m gonna shut the game down for now, surf through some reddit-posts and enjoy myself before going to bed.

I plan to support the better side of gaming (CDPR, Rockstar) and especially Fromsoftware in the near and far future.

I will pick up Fromsoftware´s entire libary soon and stock up on their DLCs.

The only exception will be Bloodborne, since I can´t get into console-gaming, I´m just to arrogant for that.

    Looking forward to Elden Ring.

DS1 Asylum Cell to Firelink World’s First Blindfolded with no help other than game audio.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:23 AM PDT

Explanation vid: https://youtu.be/aXm_XtJLbbs Actual Run: https://youtu.be/at60J4x3_j4

Note: The game audio is the ONLY thing I used to help me get to Firelink. This run has been done before, but the people doing it had a friend in the background telling them what to do, or twitch chat. I didn't have that. And no black fire bombs because that's pussy shit.

(Sigh), I didn't want to post this for the longest time, and here's why:

I did this run in early December, meaning that Christmas was just around the corner. And guess what I got for Christmas? A goddamn facecam for my streams. That's amazing, but also terrible, because now this entire run that took 5 days of practice is basically garbage. I have to redo it someday with facecam now because people will think it's fake. And I've been dreading that day, because this run was fu***** hard!

    Tips for Zwei build

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 12:32 AM PDT

Hi this is my first DSR playthrough, I've beat ds3 and bloodborne. Just wondering what's the best build for the zweihander. I'm using it 2 handed right now but I've got 24 strength in case I need to two hand. I've got the grass Crest on my back and the FAP ring on from Leutrec. I'm around sl25 now. What stats should I put points into? And has anyone any tips for using the zwei and still being able to mid roll? I'm not fat rolling my way through this game, I'm currently wearing leather armour because it's all I've found. And infusions?

I finally beat the four kings!

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:48 PM PDT

I finally did it! after twenty god damn attempts, using all of my etstus and even having to pop two humanity i did it! It is so much sweeter because the last three times i faced them before winning i would always get killed while they were on their last tiny block of health.

for those wondering: i am playing the original release on my xbox 360, no dlc. I was souls level 73 when i went into the fight, vitality and endurance both 40 and and strength and dexterity both at 39. i was wearing havels armour set, and using my maxed out lightning spear. I also used the shortcut where you jump down right in front of that one night wraith right in front of the room with the other two before the boss room.

Edit: this i also my first ever play through and my first character.

I’m not sure if this is common knowledge by now but if you use the New Londo route to get into Blighttown you can’t exit in the depths. I learned the hard way.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:20 PM PDT

Yeah even if you find the keys and have the master key. The door only opens one way. So if you want to collect all items like I was trying to do then make sure to enter through the depths and exit through New Londo instead of using the depths as a way out.

    I kinda found I build I like.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 12:35 AM PDT

So I've been scouring for a build I enjoy all quarantine and found my playstyle. I like range and precision. My favorite build I've ever done is an orienstien build for his casts and spear. So what I'm asking for is a ranged(but still melee) build with also it's fair share of casts (miracles, sorceries, etc.) I was going to do a dark sun gwyndolin build but the armor and poise is a joke. Can y'all help a dude out and help find/create a build? PvP is what I'm looking at, I should point out...

Here is the build I optimized but still don't know what to think: https://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/637443

    I'm going hollow.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:31 PM PDT

It's my first playthrough and I wanted to play blind. As such, I've probably made a few bad decisions. I love DS3 and bloodborne and think sekiro is pretty great too (i can't stand ds2, though) so I thought this would be a good time.

Cut to 6 hours later. I'm in the depths, constantly at half hp, with a weapon too big to swing in the tight corridors, unable to leave the area. Nice of the game to tell you the cure to the curse is to either use a purging stone, which nobody I've met sells or to see some guy in a place I've not been to yet.

I swear, I'll never take the fast travel in the others for granted again, even bloodborne's horrible system is better than not being able to do it at all. I'm willing to sacrifice this save and start again entirely as long as it gets me out of here.

So where does Oswald Of Carim come from when you ring the bell?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:47 PM PDT

I like to think that he is lurking in the church and sizing up undead as they pass through. "This is the guy, he's gonna ream those gargoyles SO BAD that they'll wish they hadn't been reamed so bad." And then when you ring the bell he decides to come out of hiding and squat in the abandoned bell tower while T Posing because that's how Oswald likes to live his life.

The other argument is probably that time is all loosy goosy in Lordran and some amount of time passes between ringing the bell and climbing down the ladder.

I'm just glad that I didn't want to waste the homeward bone on my first playthrough years ago or I would never have known he was there!

Please tell me capra demon is at least in the top 25 percent of difficulty regarding bosses.

A few questions (idc about spoilers)

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:37 AM PDT

    1. Where can i get a good amount of titanite? I dont want to fight that behemoth in andres basement, before you ask.
    2. Ive heard that some weapons scale. What does longsword scale with? If it's strength, why can't i see any improvement?
    3. When do i drop the drake sword?
    4. Ive heard that havel/titanite demon guards the entrance to darkroot, so should i go darkroot or depths first? (capra is dead)

How do you get invited as a Sunbro?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:01 PM PDT

I wanted to help out lower level players with some bosses, but i'm not sure how getting summoned works.

Is it the same as invading, where weapon upgrades and soul level come into play?

Is there any activity on the DS PS3-Servers these days?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:25 AM PDT

Hello, I wanted to know if it's worth replaying the PS3-Edition. I don't have PS+ at the moment and I wonder if the activity on the PS3-Servers is grown due to the quarantine etc. I want to start a new playthrough. Do you think it's worth it on the PS3?

New player enjoying my playthrough, looking for some advice for PvP + direction

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 02:48 AM PDT

So I played about 16 hours as a sorcerer a while back, and didn't get very far and was quite frustrated with the game. I took the game back up and started as a brigand, for some reason I always luck out and get the Black Knight weapons so I've been using the sword and shield. I'm about 10 hours into this play and it feels like I've actually gotten some shit done:

(As far as I can remember) taurus -> gargoyles -> pinwheel -> butterfly -> _> hydra -> kapra..

I'm not really sure where to go next, I've tried using the ghost hand to explore New Londo Ruins, but it seems like there isn't much there... I want to ring the next bell, and I've heard that's in Blight town, but the entrance that I've found just had the key in a chest and then a big drop to my death... going the other way in the valley of drakes is challenging, but fun, since my sword is so fking op that I can kill them in 2 heavy attacks. I spent the 20k on the seal of artorias to open the wooded area, and that area is really fun for fighting more realistic enemies. I never want to go down to the catacombs again.

So I am posting this after farming in that 20k gate area because I think it will be the best practice for me in PvP, which I have only experienced twice, I joined the cringe covenant and invaded two people in gangbangs, one of them a victory one a loss. But now that I've found a little better gear I want to start to try my hand at it.

I guess I'd like to ask your advice on where to go next, and how to get into PvP?

    https://imgur.com/a/hlYrmL2

    Thanks <3
