Fun fact about the old iron king boss. Posted: 16 Apr 2020 07:05 AM PDT There's a hidden health bar that's called "Hole" and you can't do anything to it and when you kill OIK it still stays there, looking to catch you lacking when you return to the arena to access the DLC. (Btw that's never happened to me but i bet it's happened to someone before 🤣) [link] [comments] |
Petition to change "Members" and "Online" Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:28 PM PDT A lot of subs have custom text for those. I propose "Bearers" and "Seeking". [link] [comments] |

Why has DS 2 got such a bad reputation? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:55 AM PDT After playing and finishing DS 1 for the first time about a week ago I was debating skipping to three after hearing all the negative opinions of two. But I have to say, it really exceeded my expectations. I will say now that I played the SotFS edition if that makes a difference. I found DS 1 to be a lot easier than it's made out to be so I was worried when I heard DS 2 was meant to be the easiest of the series. However I found this game to be much more of a challenge. Unlike the first game, you are actually forced to fight large groups of enemies at once meaning skill is actually required. I also found it a lot more difficult to parry and gave up trying to about a quarter of the way through the game. I will admit there are some things that are better in DS 1. I didn't think the atmosphere in this game was quite on the same level. I felt like I could trust all the NPCs whereas in DS 1 I was always second guessing their intentions. The last boss fight is absolutely dreadfull. Its stupid that you can only level up in one location despite the fact you can teleport from any bonfire, plus you have to skip through her dialogue every time. Both games have their pros and cons and I'm sure DS 3 will too when I play it next. I would be interested to hear other peoples opinions, especially people who have those strong negative opinions of the game. [link] [comments] |
Where to go after defeating The Last Giant? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:14 AM PDT I'm currently trying to defeat the Pursuer.. I googled him and it seems he appears throughout the game so is there any point fighting him through that fog wall? Also can you actually parry him? FYI I've played DS3 and DS1 (DS3 about 4 timed more though) [link] [comments] |
Every single time I have to go through Earthen Peak (from messages I sent in my friends group chat) Posted: 16 Apr 2020 03:10 AM PDT 21:55: Jabba the Hutt is gone 21:55: Funhouse time 22:00: I hate this place [link] [comments] |
For a fist full of Souls (very minor spoilers) Posted: 16 Apr 2020 11:54 AM PDT Been using the Vanquisher Seal since the earliest part of my current run. I only have Nashandra, Aldia, Fume, and Alonne to bash. I'd like to continue using my mitts (character name is Punchinello), and am wondering how the cestus and/or bone fists rank in comparison. Are they worth imbuing? I currently have 4 maxed out cestus and one bone fist. Range is an issue, but I'm the MFing Juggernaut and am become a Havel-monster, so it's all manageable. Looking to find wisdom from other pugilists before I hit NG+. Tanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
"Make sure you bring a bow to Shrine of Amana, that place is nearly impossible without one" Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:54 PM PDT I admit to being confused whenever I hear someone say this. Like, I have never, even on my first playthrough, struggled with Amana on a pure melee build. There's plenty of cover and the casters' spells are generally easy enough to strafe around even if you're caught out in the open. Like, what am I missing? Just be cautious and use the cover you're given and you'll be fine. [link] [comments] |
Day 1 of attempting No Death No Bonfire rum Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:48 PM PDT Quick background: Ive beaten every boss in every souls game (except aldia - Ive only played through ds2 once and I didnt kill vendrick beforehand). I beat DS1 at SL1 and also did a deathless run. I bought DS2 about a week ago and played through the game + DLC using 2 smelter swords. I then decided I wanted a challenge... Attempt 1: Purchased some stuff from melentia to get the MoSoul ring and also killed armor man for tseldora fashion. Breezed through pursuer and Giant. Got to lost bastille, commited terrorism, gave a man an ember and bought some things. Boned back to majula, realised I hadnt bought enough big tits and made my way back to the hammer man - tldr died to gravity on the way back through an area I shouldnt have had to go through. Attempts 2-5: Just dying to silly things Attempt 6: warped back to majula after Bastille, had enough tit this time, made me a stronk raper. Flew through Heides, cheesing a dragonrider. Mostly ran through No Mans Warf, killed an easy boss. Made it to rear end of Bastille, snuck past Sentinels to lost sinner. Buffed my Raper with sticky white stuff and shoved it up the sinner. Warped home, dropped down the pit... and died to gravity as soon as i got to the gutter. Attempt 7: nothing of interest, died early Attempt 8: actually made it to thr gutter this time... died to gravity next to the bonfire. Attempt 9: early die Attempt 10: ongoing, currently about to kill pursuer [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:35 PM PDT This boss is annoying me. I just can't dodge the attacks. I heard the key to light the arena is with the belfry gargoyles, so should I go for them first? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:28 PM PDT Not what it sounds like, at all. I just want to know how you use the trick that makes him fall off the platform, because I feel like it would save time. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Should I kill king vendrick lore/morality wise? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:07 PM PDT You require the giant souls to make this fight easier/possible, and nowhere in the game is it stated this fact. Also I know that giving him all four crowns gives you the kings blessing which makes you immune to hollowing, and isn't that why you came to drangleic anyway? Should I kill him? Also btw I used all my giant souls. Still will brave it if I think its worth it. Any tips if i should kill him [link] [comments] |

Lore of Dark Souls 2 Explained Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:59 AM PDT Even through most people just dismisses DkSII, i think it has the best in backstory and lorewise best souls game. And I think even through DkS3 ignores most of it, it has some things that answers or explains some questions in DkS3. Unlike DkSI-III, the second game has different focus. We are not directly focused to flame, we focus the curse which is the result of Gwyn linking the flame and unending cycle of flame. The game wants us to question everything and seek the answers ourselves. And this makes this one of the most interesting stories i ever seen. So I decided to write down the story of ds2 in my perspective with references from all souls games(except ds3 dlcs which i havent played). Lets start: 1- Beginning of everything At first, there was only ancient dragons and archtrees. Everywhere was just grey, no light no dark. The death didnt exist. There wasnt any disparity. And then the first flame appeared. With it came disparity, dark and light, death and life etc. From the dark, primeval things came. They found lord souls. They waged war against dragons. Seath, an ancient albino dragon betrays his own kind. Fast forward, dragons were no more and flame starts to fading. Afraid for Age of Dark and humans rising, Gwyn and his companions seek a solution. Witch of Izalith tried to recreate the flame and failed, then demons born. Running out of time and solutions, Gwyn decided to created the prophecy of chosen undead and giving humans a false destiny to fulfill and beautiful 'lies' to live with. So, Age of Dark will never come and humans will never raise to rule. And then he linked the flame himself. By doing that, he prolonged the fire. Due to Gwyn's actions, a curse, curse of undead appears. Then the first cycle begins. Thousand years after, the flame starts to fade again. Curse grows stronger and stronger as the flame fades. The undead, they get pulled to flame, and the Chosen Undead fulfills the 'prophecy'. Age of Flame continues. Even the Chosen Undead didnt link the flame, someone else would do that, because the curse drives them to fire, like bugs attracted to a bulb. 2- Now we going to time of DS2 Thousands and thousand years has passed. Even the gods have forgotten. Cycle repeated itself countless times. Flame never dies out, everytime it fades, it will just reignites, as Straid says. And new cycle begins. With cycle begins, a new kingdom rises up from the remnants of the old one. But Drangleic, rise not with a cycle, but after cycle begins. As the flame fades and stronger the curse gets, humans lured into it. As Bearer of the Curse and many other NPCs came to Drangleic this way. Also stronger the curse, stronger the hollowing. Humans slowly, but surely lose their memories, their thoughts and everything they have, with their humanity. We can observe how curse affects humans by looking to Lucatiel of Mirrah. How tragic she tries to not hollow, how she begs BotC to remember her name. All because the wondrous 'lie' No one really remembers why they came to Drangleic, or for what purpose? They can only guess. "Without really knowing why" as Emerald Herald said. We have a monarch of the Drangleic, King Vendrick. Vendrick was one of the most powerful souls. He vanquished the great old ones in his time and take the throne. Then Nashandra comes from far away lands. He warns the King about giants. Vendrick decides to invade lands of the giants overseas. He successfully completed his campaign and return with something belonged to giants. With it, he built the Drangleic Castle. He was strong. When undead curse appears, he found even more strength to face it. He didnt linked the flame nor he wanted to link. With Aldia, brother of the King Vendrick, they seek to break the curse, breaking the shackles of the fate in a vain attempt.. The fate, determined by Gwyn long ago. Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin, is extremely intelligent person, knowing so much things about the flame and the curse. He is angry at Gwyn for curse upon all humans, which is the first sin. He accepts how illusion of life given to humans is wonderful, resplendant, but a lie stays as a lie. Aldia asks the BotC if he/she intended to "spoiling this wonderful falsehood". Aldia looked for the answers from dragons. Ancient dragons existed before the flame. The curse doesnt applies to them. Knowing that, Aldia created a artifical dragon, a false deity, using the soul of giants. Thats why we get Giant Soul when Ancient Dragon killed. He also created Emerald Herald from the Ancient Dragon, intended to break the curse. But she failed. Aldia was obsessed to break the curse. In his manor, he conducted horrible experiments for this purpose. In the end, he became what he is. Vendrick on the other hand, "Who peered into the essence of souls", he discovered something, or tapped into essence of souls, somehow managed to find a way to break free from curse(Vendrick's Blessing) but he couldnt save himself. At some time giants invaded Drangleic for take back what is stolen. War continued for at least hundred years. Middle of the war, Vendrick realized his queen, Nashandra, was using him all the way. He discovered her true nature. Nashandra was one of the pieces of Manus' soul. Being tiniest/weakest of them, Nashandra was hunger for power more than any of the her sisters. She seek the flame, only way to reach it was Vendrick. Knowing that, Vendrick left his soul, set great deal of obstacles to prevent Nashandra from getting them and sealed himself and placing his royal companion Veldstad, to protect his grave. And sacrificed himself. A true Monarch burdens the weight of souls. Vendrick indeed burdened souls, but he didnt manage to sit on the real throne, Throne Of Want. Thus he didnt become True Monarch. Nashandra cannot proceeds herself, even through she is extremely powerful being. She cant enter Shrine of Amana, because Milfanitos singing will prevent her. And there is other obstacles. So Nashandra uses the BotC to get everything to open the way to Throne Of Want. After the Bearer of the Curse disposes last obstacle, Throne Watcher and Defender, there is nothing left to prevent Nashandra from getting the throne. Thus she confronts BotC, only to die. Aldia, althrough states that throne welcomes him/her, puts the BotC one last test, trying him. In the end, BotC has a choice to sit on the throne, or leaving it to be. Aldia says we can choose light, dark or something entirely different. Which i believe its the same way Vendrick and Aldia took, breaking the curse. [link] [comments] |

As a dark souls 1 expert. I played DS 2 for the first time today. Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:00 AM PDT Went to the forest of fallen giants area. Ended an entire species then used that soldier key. I was like guess they made this easier for the casuals. Then the damn pursuer drop in and absolutely wrecks me. And he's like " Is this too easy for you ? " . Noticed some ballistas in the pursuer area. But I couldnt get him to stay still. Until I parried him. Just takes to shots from a ballista and gets wrecked. I think that dark souls has trained me well. Got to that castle area and found out that I am horribly underlevelled. As in SL 23 . So any suggestions where I should go first. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:20 PM PDT So I recently completed my first playthrough as it's the last dark souls game I had to complete and was wondering where does the lore of ds2 fit in with 1 & 3? I know it wasn't directed by Miyazaki but i feel its lacking on so many levels. Where in 3 it sometimes refers back to the first game I feel like this one totally forgot there was a first. Can anyone fill in the gaps? Or are there no gaps to be filled and it's just a bit shit story wise? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Apr 2020 04:37 AM PDT So, I have both versions, PC and PS4. I can't help but think how much more active PC feels. Now, I prefer playing on PS4 because I can sit back and relax without any compromises, but the activity's putting me off. A few months ago bellbros had decent population at around 200-400k SM. Right now, it's been over a day that I'm trying to pvp there and it's basically empty. Same goes to invasions as well, it's just really hard to get a host in certain places. I can't help but feel bad that DS2 is only populated by tryhard elitus in the arena! I wish we had a return to drangleic every 3 months or so [link] [comments] |
What weapon should I fight Sinh with? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:01 AM PDT I used rapier for every other fight, but should I stick with rapier or try something new? [link] [comments] |

I get that vendricks gone all Hollow and shit but why doesnt he get like more moves the more giantsouls you have thought his fight was boring as hell. And fuck These ice sanics in Eleum Loyce [link] [comments] |
