I'm absolutely tired of souls games but nothing else fills the gap Dark Souls leaves when I don't play it

Why is this happening? I'm absolutely tired of playing all the souls games (including Sekiro) but nothing else fills the gap it leaves? did Dark Souls break me?

    I can't kill Capra Demon.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:16 AM PST

I'm going to use this post to rant an ask for tips. This boss is so poorly designed and frustrating and unfair, I don't even know where to begin. First of all, Capra Demon is pretty difficult on his own but all the other factors make this boss infuriating. Let me rant about the dogs. The dogs are faster than the Capra Demon and you can't attack anything without getting hit by one of the 3 enemies. All 3 enemies are very fast and the arena has little to no room to move around. I constantly get by the wall and am gangbanged to death. Half the time I can't see my guy and am just looking at a tree or the area above the arena. I try to get to the stairs as fast as I can but am stopped by the Capra demons attack, or the dogs block the staircase. When I have gotten to the stair case I have been killed by the Capra Demon who was below the stair case! Why does his Dodge attack have such long range! Ok, well I'm done ranting. Bye and hopefully I could recieve some assistance and tips to beat him on my own.

Edit: thank for the tips! Finally best him!

    Revisiting Lordan

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:52 PM PST

Minor spoilers. One boss name and one boss abbreviation

I put a lot of time in DS1 back on the Xbox 360, had it down to where I could sit and play the whole game in one sitting, just from knowing all the shortcuts, strong early weapons, etc. Not speedrunning or anything but I had spent a lot of time with it so I knew the ins and outs.

I've since played the others of course and Bloodborne and Sekiro, but the other day I picked up Dark Souls remastered for PS4 and do the opposite of seeing how fast I could beat it: I wanted to see everything, talk to everyone, beat everything, and get the platinum trophy. A comeback tour so to speak, one more, all-encompassing trek across Lordran to praise the sun in a new decade and see if I still had what it took.

And it has been glorious. Seeing Solaire standing in the sun felt like seeing an old friend while home on holiday. The hairs on my neck would stand up as I recall an ambush I experienced years ago, just before it was too late. I charged through Anor Londo and danced with O&S and only had fun, not slightly tinged with frustration like when I played it first. I felt my heart drop when I remembered I had to fight Sif.

It's been incredible. I've had a smile on my face the whole time. I know it wasn't The First, but it was My First. And 2 Sequels+2 Spiritual Successors later, it felt damn good to come home.

TL:DR; Dark Souls 1 is still like home to this skeleton, who it taught never to give up.

This game made me realize that I hate open-world titles

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:39 PM PST

Looking back on how much satisfaction I got playing Dark Souls, a lot of it comes down to the fact that the gameplay is so damn challenging, deep, and time-consuming to master, yet all of that depth is concentrated into a small manageable world. The game is still very large with plenty of exploration to do, but it's not an open world adventure by any means. That is probably its biggest strength.

I've played endless open world adventure games in the last decade and over time I realised I'm seldom a fan of the genre. It seems that most developers were simply trying to win the award for the most amount of useless crap to cram into their games. This led to worlds which were way too big for their own good, with barely anything to do in most areas. Then there's the endless list of consumables that you collect, 80% of which you never even use.

Dark Souls is not open world but it rewards exploration and discovery far better than any open world game ever could. The same concept applies to the items. There are little to no consumables to pick up. Everything you find can actually be used in a real, tangible way. Weapons, limited crafting material, armor etc. You can also find the odd consumables too, but unlike most open world games, the consumables are actually useful. They make you feel like you've been rewarded for exploring. Perfect example is the gold pine resin or transient curse. These are staple items in the game which are almost essential to completing it.

With that, I'm a little disappointed that Elden Ring is going to be open world. :(

How To Download Artorias DLC For XBOX One?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 04:03 AM PST

(Before I start, this is a repost since I posted yesterday and didn't get any responses, sorry)

Firstly, I know that this has been posted a lot, and solutions are offered on various websites and forums. However, any of the guides I try to follow don't seem to be working (they probably are, but I'm just completely clueless). People say that I can download the DLC for Xbox 360 and then download it to my XBOX One, but I don't have Dark Souls on my 360, so would it still work? The other solution I see being offered is for people to go to xbox.com and download it there. When I try, I'm brought to this link: https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Dark-Souls-Artorias-of-the-Abyss/b41a6de8-ac7e-447a-826f-50239b4503e5 and it says "Download to Xbox 360". Will it still work?

(I've also tried just going on the store on my xbox, but it says I can't download it there) :(

    Darksouls Book

This is a pretty straight forward post. I recently found out that Darksouls has official books, and I can't seem to find how many official book/comic books are there. Thanks for the help, may the bonfire protect you

The fuck did they do to the AI in DSR?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:33 PM PST

Everything seems to have crazy tracking (talking full 180/even seen a couple 270s) now and they all love to spam combos/perfectly dodge literally everything. Ex. just got to PW, was instakilled by a rat that infinitely stunlocked me with 6 of those stupid headbutt moves that stagger you no matter how high your poise is. SIX. It chained SIX of those attacks in a row so quickly that I couldn't even toggle out of it. Prior to this during my Sif fight she would let me get 1 hit and then backflip like 3 times and repeat... never saw that once in PTD. Gargoyles basically did the same 1 hit > dodge thing too. The chapel channeler seemed way more aggressive and tried poking me instead of dropping off the ledge like he used to do 99% of the time. The fatasses in Btown all seem to have really bad pathing until you realize they're all clumping together to gangbang you, makes it significantly harder to backstab fish them.

It seems like most of the enemies intentionally take their sweet ass time walking up to you now so that they can form into a group, and they're all coded for their hits to land the instant another's attack ends. I'm torn between hating it and liking it because it's kind of refreshing to see a bit more difficulty added even if it is pretty artificial. What changes have you guys noticed compared to PTD?

    Demons motivation?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 12:55 AM PST

Ok, I'm kinda new in souls series, I've been reading the lore, and I already know the demons were made of the chaos flame, but what are their motivation on the trilogy of games? What makes them attack the player ? Does lighting the flame destroy the chaos flame?

    QUESTION: F*ck the Primordial Snakes?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:50 PM PST

so, i've been playing a sorcery run and i already knew that your character can access the Firelink Altar by dropping into the hole where Frampt goes out of, so i tried entering the Altar by myself and put the Lordvessel and when i went back to Firelink Shrine, Frampt said the line he says when you make a deal with Kaathe. So my question is did i just unlocked the Dark Lord ending without talking to Kaathe? or is it necessary to talk to him to unlock his ending?

    Need help with New Londo

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:38 PM PST

Typically I like to opt for poise-heavy and high-vit builds, but for this specific playthrough I decided to run a glass cannon build and I'm just starting to realize how bs New Londo is. Every time I make it to the ladder that leads to Ingward, I get ganked like a piñata through the chimney and fall to my death. Is there any reliable way to make it to the top?

EDIT: i managed to get past it, thanks for the suggestions; i find that luring the ghosts doesnt work any more than just hauling ass, but cheesing is definitely the most reliable method

Str vs dex for PvE and PvP?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 04:09 AM PST

Which is overall better? Why? And which is your favourite? Personally i prefer doing a Quality build, cuz i can switch between dex and str. For me when i wanna run dex i only always use weps that only scale with dex (e.g Uchi, Chaos blade) and vice versa for Str (e.g Great club, Grant, DGM) and ofc you have the regular quality stuf like the Claymore and zwei.

Need fashion advice for a Valkyrie build

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:06 PM PST

I love the idea of a Valkyrie I'm dark souls so I wanna make a dex/faith build that centers around spears and a broadsword or Longsword ( whichever one Vikings used) I got my weapons and spells figured out but a build isn't complete without the fashion. What armor would make my character look like a Valkyrie from Norse mythology? I want the character to look angelic yet strong if that makes sense.

    Going for Plat

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 02:53 AM PST

So i started my journey towards the platinum trophy, so i decided to go for the bosssoul dupe glitch to get all the levels i need for the sidequests and to have an easy time where i only have to think about NOT messing up sidequests, weaponupgrades, bossweapons, etc.

Now is there something importent i should/shouldn´t do, that could likely mess me up or help me?

QUICKLY, should I use this bonfire

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:22 PM PST

SHOULD I USE THIS BONFIRE? Hi. This is my first time on anorlondo and I got in this painting and there is a bonfire that i'm not sure if I should use. I fear that I get stucked in there with no chance of coming back to anor londo until I beat some boss :/ I'm level 75 and my strongest weapon does 406 dmg

    Edit: I hate it here
