    Feeling ridiculously proud of myself.

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:40 PM PDT

Been bored due to quarantine, so today, I decided I'd get as much done in this game as I could. Today, in one long ass session, I have: cleared Shrine of Amana, cleared Undead Crypt, cleared Aldia's Keep, cleared the Dragon Shrine, done all giant memories, killed the Ancient Dragon, killed Vendrick, and just beat the Fume Knight (my heart is still racing, holy shit).

The Ancient Dragon, Vendrick, and Fume have all been within the last hour.

Feeling like a king right now. Just wanted to share with community who'd get it.

[Xbox] anyone know when the ds2 servers are supposed to be working again???

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 06:21 AM PDT

Anyone know what happened to the Dark Souls Two podcast?

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 09:57 AM PDT

This is my favorite Dark Souls related podcast, but they stopped putting out episodes a few years ago (maybe longer than that at this point). During the quarantine I decided to get Sekiro and looked up the hosts, Church and Taboo, to see if they'd put out anything for this game, but I can't find anything from them.

Anyone know what happened? Have they moved on to other projects or just stopped putting out material altogether?

    Thank You Dragon Knight Invader

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 08:09 PM PDT

I began delving into the souls series a few months back and am onto Dark Souls 2. Tonight I was progressing through the story and came to Aldia's Keep. After freeing the giant from stone I was invaded by a player with the name Dragon Knight. As you'd expect he was decked out in all the Dragon Knight gear and rather than fighting me he showed me to the hidden bonfire and even activated healing magic for a fight I got into. Eventually though I died to the dogs and I thought that was the end of things.

A little later I made it through Dragon Aerie and to Dragon Shrine. After getting frustrated a few times from dying to the Drakekeeper with the hammer (I went with a dex build for ds2 because in ds1 I went full strength, but I seem to lack weapons that stagger at all and my dodges this evening were subpar.), I decided to take things from range with poison arrows.

After clearing out the first keeper I was invaded by Dragon Knight. Where he seemed keen to assist me in Aldia's Keep, he would vehemently attempt to keep me from progressing through Dragon Shrine. I was expecting a friendly confrontation again, but he put me down in an instant. A while later after I took a short break I was invaded by him again and put up a much better fight but eventually fell to his vast array of weaponry and fire attacks. I thought that this was probably the most narrative driven interaction I've had with someone online in any game. The Dragon Knight was friendly and even helpful until someone threatened the Shrine he served. Once I had attempted to make it up the Shrine he put me down twice with no hesitation.

I eventually made it through the Shrine and to the dragon at the end, while fearing another invasion from Dragon Knight the entire time, and received the Ashen Mist Heart. I've been told by my friend who got me into Dark Souls that you can kill that dragon. Though, thanks to Dragon Knight, I'm not even considering it.

Thank you for a wonderful online experience Dragon Knight.

SOTFS - Is there any to get the dragonriders armor that doesn’t require NG+ or Ascetics?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:28 PM PDT

Title. I'm replaying the game and referring to a guide to have a thorough play through and am noticing I can't get the set during this run but honest don't understand ascetics all that much so I'm nervous to use them. Thanks for reading

Iron keep help and a bit of rant

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 07:53 AM PDT

Hello brothers. Is there any way to quickly get to the without having to fight all the enemies on smelter demon? I know I can skip it but I heard there's a bonfire there and I really don't wanna miss it. This area is filled with bullshit. Fuck the allonne knights. And you need to fight at least a dozen of them to proceed. I rarely get ganked here but to not get ganked you need to go through a lot of steps which is fucking tedious, every time I die and need to redo everything until some of them eventually despawns. Not to mention the knights have some of the most bullshit move sets.

Change my mind: Frigid Outskirts isn’t all that hard

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:24 AM PDT

Almost everyone has the opinion frigid outskirts is one of if not THE worst area in DS2. To be fair I'll admit it's not a great area. But almost everyone who claims the horses make the area unbearable are just blindly charging through the map. If you slow down and take the time to fight them one on one they're not too difficult to beat. Where as if you charge past they'll relentlessly stack up and gank you. It's a classic case of "I want to fight the boss so I'm gonna try to skip the area". The first rule of soulsborne is patience. Never charge into any area and expect it to go well.

That's not to say the area is well designed. Objectively the level design is a bit infuriating with the blindness inflicted by the snow storm. As well as Lud and Zallen just being amped up reskins of Avaa

But the point isn't that the area is an example of good level design. The point is that frigid outskirts are only relentlessly difficult if you don't take your time to patiently traverse Zombie Siberia

If you had to choose between more stamina or more stamina regen, what would you pick?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 10:49 PM PDT

My dilemma is the following: I'm working on a high end, low vit build with rapier as my primary weapon, old leos ring, ring of blades and flynns ring. My problem is that I have to choose between the dragon and chloranthy rings. At 50 end (current) and roughly 30% equip load, I'm wondering if having an absurdly large stamina bar is worth the drop in the regen rate. Health is not a concern, I keep my max health low intentionally to keep the game challenging even at a high soul level and vigor will be leveled accordingly to maximize flynns effect (either 9 or 14, currently 9). I don't care about soul level or soul memory either, I play for PvE. If I have to level a few stats some more then so be it and I intend to level end to 99 eventually anyway. Given my build, what would you do in my situation? I'm leaning towards the chloranthy ring but I hate the green visual effect and an eventual stamina bar of 225 sounds so nice...

My primary stat is agility btw. I kept leveling adp until I hit 116 for max iframes. I don't tank, I don't use shields, I dual wield claymore for mobs, rapier for single enemies and I dodge, dodge, dodge. I'm always fully hollowed and I only wear the prisoners tatters and hood for that slight increase in item discovery. Gotta love that hobo leper zombie look.
