Recently decided to co-op through the game as sunbros with my girlfriend. It's her first run but I've kinda showed her the path of least resistance. Either way we went and fought the bed of chaos yesterday with it only taking a few tries for her, and only because the bed fire stormed us as we were running up the center for the bug orb. When she helped me we did it first try. All I'm saying is I'm pleasantly surprised that we both made it through arguably one of the most annoying bosses in the game with minimal pain.

Watch Hawkshaw's lore videos if you haven't

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:46 PM PDT

Their lore videos are incredibly in depth and though provoking... they go so much deeper than any Vaati Vidya video I've every watched. They don't upload anymore, but these videos deserve so much more attention.

Aye I'm saving up souls so I can use boss weapons, I almost have enough for Smough's Hammer or the Cursed Great Sword of Artorias. Which one should I choose?! I'm nearly done with NG+1 and I'm level 118 so it's taken quite a bit of grinding to get here (~1500000souls) Halp!!! Plz!

Dark souls has made me better at fishing in animal crossing

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 12:16 PM PDT

Dark Souls requires perfect timing and reactions to beat the hardest of bosses. Animal Crossing requires perfect timing and reactions to catch the largest of fish. One of Animal Crossing's hardest challenges is too catch 100 hundred fish in a row without failing a single one. Not only does it require perfect timing and reactions, but it also requires an incredible amount of stamina and patience, so much so to compare to the challenge of the likes of Manus, Gael and Friede.

And like many of the hardest bosses in dark souls I lost the fight in the final moment, getting to 89 catches before fucking it up.

How To Beat The Four Kings-“Easy”

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 02:11 AM PDT

I've been fighting these guys for quite awhile, if I don't get killed by Ghosts & Darkwraiths who's attacks go through the fog gate, I do to them

Only got real close to killing them once and they weren't even using the special moveset

Also, the Ghosts move through the fog gate, fucking annoying

And yes, I've seen other how-to-vids

Thing is, I want suggestion to cause as much damage as possible, they don't exactly stagger and its somehow hard to dodge their attacks

How well does dark souls still hold up?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 02:18 PM PDT

Dark souls is nearly a decade old and the later titles are more refined and polished, but how well does dark souls hold up now? And do you think the game would be timeless?

Dark Souls 1/Diablo 1 hybrid (game under development but with playable beta)

I have found this project on steam. It is a game which is a hybrid of Diablo 1 and Dark Souls 1 made by one guy. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/malus-an-isometric-action-rpg?fbclid=IwAR0H3LFLHunoLCTUrI4uzsgOOfCSsPym2w\_r4mxAU3yXSfw90gy3BroQ7Os#/

I just realized while listening to the soundtrack...

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 12:53 AM PDT

Bed of Chaos' theme is actually pretty neat once you get past the first minute...which I would have never known, since no fight with Bed of Chaos ever lasts more than 45 seconds for me.

Ornstein and Smough's theme, on the other hand...

    New Londo ruins early on

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 12:44 AM PDT

I always see people talking about going to the skeletons instead of the undead burg during their first play through, but am I the only one who went through New Londo and spent hours trying to get past the ghosts? I made it all the way to the red guy at the end, only to get stuck and not know where to go. Oh the pain I felt when I looked up what to do, and found out I'm in an area meant for later in the game....

I know someone posts this every day, but I best O&S as a first-time, under unnecessarily difficult circumstances

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:43 PM PDT

To give a little background, I accidentally struck Andre (hit the controller while teaching for a drink) and then killed him, not knowing I could get absolution. People told me I should just start over, but I was 50 hours in, having learned the game very slowly (Skyrim was the only game of this type that I'd played before this, and is much easier). So I don't have and can't create (as far as I know) any +10 or +15 weapons.

I've been stuck on O&S for weeks (I only play for an hour once or twice a week, typically). Over that time, I tried a number of strategies. I farmed humanities in the painting room and the Depths so that I could summon Solaire, but I kept dying anyway, and farming was too tedious, so I decided to go solo.

I went back and forth on what in what order to kill them. I had focused on killing Smough first for most of my time, until yesterday going back to trying Ornstein first. I had been using the holy club on Ornstein, because it deals pretty good damage, but the range is so bad I almost always took some damage when I dealt any.

Ultimately, I used a +2 demon spear and killed Ornstein first. The spear only did 53 damage with each strike, but I knew their patterns well enough that I could mostly avoid damage. I got to Smough, and he wasn't any different or harder as the super-charged version, and I knew very well how to attack him, as I'd killed him at least a couple dozen times when I was going after him first.

I have no idea how many times I lost to them. I would guess around 100. But now I finally get to proceed. And I hope I can finally find a way to beef up these weapons.

Artiorias death sound is so brutal

Something I have instantly noticed about this fight.

When you kill him you can hear literally the entire abyss getting released from him.

Just completed my first SL 1 run, these are my thoughts

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:41 PM PDT

So I've been playing these games since 2012 and I never did what I considered to be the ultimate challenge (within reason and without cheating). Most people that do challenge runs of these games will tell you something to the tune of "I want to get as close to the feel of my first experience as possible" and I think this did it more me. I had to stretch my knowledge of the game as far as I could. I used every trick at my limited disposal. I prepared for every boss with specific strategies and counters, and I still got my ass smacked around.

I found a whole new appreciation for the bosses of this game. I was in 1-2 shot range at all times, so every attack needed to be shown respect. Nito, Centipede Demon, Sanctuary Guardian, and the Four Kings ended up really surprising me in particular (in how much more they killed me than usual). Manus and O&S though were pretty brutal. I'd say my only gripe with the challenge is just how lacking your options are. I opted for the Lightning Battle Ax as I'm pretty sure its the most damaging weapon you can wield, but I am still not a fan of it's moveset even after completing a playthrough with it. Of course pyromancey is essentially required as well, but you only get those 2 attunement slots the whole game. Good thing is you'll have a fully upgraded flame since you will have a surplus of souls like you've never experienced.

Honestly give it a shot if you fancey yourself "gud" and want that first time frustration that only new From games are able to deliver. I don't want to give my equipment info away since figuring out what tf you'll be able to even use is part of the fun :). Let me know about your own SL 1 experiences if you've done it and stay safe!

Any tips on this game? I hear it can be difficult for beginners to get into, but I really want to play this game. Is there anything I should know before playing it?
