    Zweihander... Oh... Zweihander...

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 03:48 AM PST

If I can give you a tip, it would be : If you don't succeed, try something different.

I'm still trying to get my platinum trophy (which is coming really soon).

And I needed to start a NG++ to get the last items I need, so I faced Gwyn and get ready for the Parry-Fest but this time... something happened.

Gwyn wouldn't stop to kill me.

I didn't succeed to parry him. So I tried. Again. Again. and Again.

My Lightning Gargoyle Halberd didn't deal so much damage.

    Pain, Tears and stuff.

But I tried something new : The Zweihander. Didn't really use this weapon before so let's give it a try.

    A Miracle happend.

I parried him, again and again and again and actually killed him !

    I'm so happy.

Now I'm heading to blighttown to buy some pyromancies and get my platinum trophy.

    What a beautiful journey.

Sorry for the really bad english.

Dark Souls and FromSoft have ruined gaming for me forever.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:24 PM PST

I'm getting ever so close to beating DSR on PC now, just beat Bed of Chaos and Nito, on my way to do the DLC bosses now and honestly I have never had such a surreal gaming experience in my life. To the point where everything else feels tame in comparison.

My brother insisted that I play Witcher 3 so I bought it on steam sale a month or so ago and I was so constantly underwhelmed that I just couldn't get myself to like it or even understand the hype around it. They say it's got amazing graphics, world design etc but have they ever experienced getting dropped in to Anor Londo for the first time? Or taken time to see the view from the first bell in Undead Parish? The combat on W3 was so draggy and even on the highest difficulty, it seemed "fake" I don't know if that makes sense.

Initially I was so lost and confused about what to do or where to go but the more I played, the exploration felt so genuine, and the satisfaction from discovering new items without a map or pointers is so freaking much!

And story? I was so moved when I watched the Vaatividya videos behind the lore, especially the sisters of Chaos one! I just feel that this game is such a beautiful masterpiece and if only people tried a little harder to measure it's worth beyond "Oh Dark Souls, it's that really hard game right??"

Anyone else feel like FromSoft did this to them as well?

Why does the Chosen Undead have to go through this whole ordeal if they (Gwyn) want(s) us to succeed in any case?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 02:18 AM PST

    Hi guys,

Ive been a long-time lurker here as I've been fascinated with the lore surrounding From Software's masterpieces since trying out Bloodborne and then picking up the DS series.

There is a crucial story element to DS1 which I fail to wrap my head around, and I feel as if it basically comes down to me not understanding DS1's story at all. We play as the Chosen Undead, being manipulated into kindling the First Flame (sacrificing yourself in the act of doing so) so as to prolong the Age of Fire.

Why, if Gwyn wants us to succeed in doing so, would he make such an ordeal out of it? Running the risk that we give up along the way (go hollow) as so many players surely have done, ultimately not linking the flame and failing to prolong his reign. Moreover, why the need to 'test' the Chosen Undead if he is to burn himself anyway at the end of it?

I understand that, if the the bird were to drop you off in Lordran right at the Kiln, there would obviously be no game to play. But still, story-wise this does not make any sense the way I see it?

The fact that Gwyn attacks you right before you have the chance to actually link the fire is logical in my mind because he has gone mad/hollow so does not understand anymore what you are doing there.

Thanks in advance to all of you DS scholars out there who will come up with a nice explanation for this!

Which is better? The Claymore or the Zweihander?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 03:39 PM PST

When I compare the attack rating of these two weapons, the Zweihander is obviously better but people keep telling me that the Claymore is better. So which is it? The Zweihander or the Claymore?

Edit: After getting advice from you guys, I think I'll go with the Claymore since it's faster and has a better moveset than the Zweihander.

completed dark souls remastered. think i might have adopted an addiction..

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 08:06 AM PST

So a couple of days ago, I beat Dark Souls for the first time. I put about 80 hours into the game completing all the dlc and everything I wanted to accomplish. Ended with a fully upgraded Lightning Zweihander and the Grass Crest Shield with SL104. The entire lead up to fighting Gwyn was the most intense i've ever been before fighting a boss. Not even Manus had made me feel that way. After beating Gwyn and linking the flame, the credits rolled and I felt like I had gone Hollow. I just beat Dark Souls. Holy Shit. IMMEDIATELY after NG+ booted up I quit the game, hopped on my ps4, and bought DS3 and all of the DLC for it, started a new character and began playing. about 3 hours through, I realized I missed DS1...So I got back on my switch and created a new character. Im breezing through the game right now as a Dex Uchi build, and im simultaneously playing both Dark Souls 1 & 3. All I think about everywhere I go is getting home to play more Dark Souls. I play it at work on my switch and if i cant play it, im watching or reading about it.

Every now and then, you play a game that changes the way you look at video-games and roots itself into you forever. Final Fantasy VII did that to me, Breath of The Wild did it to me, and now Dark Souls. shit.

Unknown Enemy on Taurus Demon Boss fight?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 03:06 PM PST

So I just got DS Remastered for the switch to play through the game again after already beating it countless times on PC. I get to the Taurus Demon Boss fight and climb up the ladder to kill the two archers only to be surprised by a third enemy standing on the top. I tried killing the archers first but was quickly felled by some spell I never saw before that the other enemy hurled at me. After that I couldn't get the enemy to respawn in any way. I can't really describe what the enemy looked like because i only saw it for two seconds before dying but it was definitely not human like and quadriplegic.

    Obsidian greatsword, INT or FTH?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:48 PM PST

I want to make a playthrough centered around using the obsidian greatsword with either INT or FTH buffing spells.

INT gives me the option to also use the Moonlight greatsword, but FTH has better buffing miracles.

Which one should I go for?

What part the lordvessel unlock exactly ?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:22 PM PST

Hey pals. I'm wondering what part the lordvessel unlock exactly. I know that you can't reach the Four Kings, Nito, Chaos Bed and Seath before getting the lordvessel but is that all ?

I'm asking you because I'd like to know if you can beat Sif/Fancy Butterfly before going to Anor Londo or not.

    Thanks ! :)

Weapons battle axe +2 and Zweihander +1

Will there ever be another active world?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 01:30 PM PST

Like, is there going to be another time when everyone just decides to play this game again to have another active world? I never really got to experience that part of it and would really like to.

    How does respawning work?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 04:53 PM PST

I play on PC the Prepare To Die edition. When I'm running about just working on backstabs and parry/riposte I can't ever seen to get every enemy dead at once.

I know if I stop at a bonfire that brings them back. Does a stop at a Smith count for the same? What about quit/outs?

I beat the Bell Gargoyles using only lightning spears

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 04:36 PM PST

Hey guys! I just made a new playthrough and I beat the Bell Gargoyles using only lightning spears solo on my 2nd attempt lmfao. I had 15 vitality, 12 attunement, 15 endurance, 18 strength, 12 dex, and 25 faith. I was using the drake sword and some hollow armor. It was fucking hilarious.

How hard is Dark Souls 1 supposed to be?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 11:49 PM PST

Harder than DS3? Easier? I bought the game not too long ago and I find it relatively easy in terms of difficulty. The fabled Blighttown, the Anor Londo knights, the Ornstein and Smough battle, I thought they would all make me want to die inside but it was actually quite easy.
Did I just learn all the things I need to beat Dark souls from playing Dark souls 3 or am I cheesing the whole game with the OP Zweihander?

Is the Demon's Greataxe any good?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2020 07:35 PM PST

I got it by killing the Taurus Demon. I just looked online and saw that it has an S scaling in strength so I thought it must be good. I was just wondering if there's any drawbacks to this weapon.
