Otzdarva completes the legendary all boss no hit run!!!!

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 08:58 AM PST

He has done attempted this 10 hour run more than a hundred times, has been to the final boss without getting hit thrice, fell there and he still kept on trying. It's honestly inspiring. Here's his video of the run : https://youtu.be/kxTwZR-F8cg

Edit : From the comments, I see that he actually completed the run on stream a while ago, I'm sorry I didn't know that. The video that he released today was the first time I saw him complete the run.

Ok so DS2: SotFS went on sale on the PS Store for $10 so I bought it.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 10:40 PM PST

Now let me explain why I never played it until now; all of the negativity it received because Miyazaki had no role in the creation of this game, and the toxic reviews most of the Dark Souls fan base had written, strongly influenced how I viewed it even having never played it myself. I had seen some of my favorite streamers play it and was happy watching them play such a "terrible" game.

Now let me explain how this game has quickly become my favorite; the implementation of different stats, the leveling system, and the option for power stance all make sense as a whole. Each stat increases health by 1-2 but Vigor increases it by 20 each level. Something, that to me, makes sense in any RPG. Endurance not only effects how much stamina you have but increases your overall Poise as a person in game. The Adaptability stat increasing your agility also makes sense because you can and will be punished for not having high enough agility to perform certain movements in time, making each fight a strategic play instead of a DPS battle. Each dodge has fewer iframes making timing your dodges more difficult which in a realistic setting, would make sense.

Power stance not only gives the option to dual wield literally anything, but it's also something that when implemented in a real setting, makes sense. In or out of power stance allows for more unique combos, more punishing trades, and a more strategic look into how PvP and PvE play out.

Last but not least, the fashion capabilities of this game are like none I've ever seen. Allowing you to farm 99.9% of any armor/weapons you see in game gives the option for some pretty intense and creative builds.

I do understand some of the frustrations that come along with this game such as soul memory, summoning, and not being able to promise being summoned into a friends world with the lack of a password system. But all in all, I can proudly say that this is my favorite Souls game. Not based on outside opinion, but by my own personal experience in the game.

    Here is my first character:

Armor: Manikin Mask Imported Tunic Royal Swordsman Gloves Royal Swordsman Leggings

Rings: Chloranthy Ring Ring of Blades Stone Ring Life Ring

    Weapons: Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe (Dual)

Am I the only one who starts out the game this way?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 05:44 AM PST

I've played through DS2 probably a half dozen times and for whatever reason I always forget about the Forrest of Giants and accidentally straight barrel through Heide's. Then about halfway through No-Mans Wharf wonder to myself, "Where was that danged forrest ?"

Ancient Dragon is the worst dragon boss in entire Dark Souls games.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 04:35 AM PST

Firstly, i got more than 500 hours in DaS2. I love difficult bosses like Fume Knight and Blue Smelter Demon, they are beautiful and really fun to fight. Right now i'm playing the game for pvp but currently helping a skeleton on his journey. We killed every single boss in first/second try, he isn't that bad because he played Dark Souls 3 and he is familiar with Souls games. We had a lot of fun in this run, i think this game is the best Souls game for co-op. But today, we arrived to Ancient Dragon and fuck it, i never fought with him except my first run back in 2015 because i hate his fight. His pattern is too boring and cheap imo. Like u can cheese his AI to do his flame breath on the ground but cmon, there is no way to dodge his flying flame breath unless u are lucky with ur position. I love dragon bosses like Guardian Dragon (i think his health bar is too small, his fight is way better) Kalameet and Midir. But this one is just cheap. His pattern is cheap, his health bar is too large, and his fight isn't that epic. We killed him after 4 tries by doing that AI trick but i feel unsatisfied.

I think his fight is way too bad and i just want to know ur opinions. Thanks for reading.

Are there any specific pvp areas? PS4 SotFS edition.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 01:00 PM PST

I just started going online and I love the message system and the invading system but I was wondering if there was a certain spot I could go play around with others like there is in DS3?

    I get it now

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 04:27 AM PST

After completing my first playthrough of Scholar at the start of this month, while I enjoyed it a lot, it somehow didn't sit right with me. Something about the combat timings and the overall controls, while smoother than DS1, also somehow felt less responsive, and I found a lot of the gank encounters frustrating, playing as a standard sword and shield character and generally playing quite defensively. When I finished I wasn't even sure I wanted to do another runthrough soon.

I still had the itch to give it another go though, so decided to try a dark magic build, blasted through the whole game plus DLC in a little over a weekend this time, and now I'm unsure which of the two I like more. I even remember the exact moment when it clicked. When going through Forest of the Fallen Giants, and going through the front entrance of the trap in front of Pate, I had forgotten just how close to the gate the aggro range is, and suddenly found myself surrounded by about 6 hollows, but somehow through bobbing and weaving, using spells and my mace when I had the chance, and using lifegems, I made it out alive and it felt fucking great. Playing the game on its own terms, like actually stocking up on lifegems and using them all the time, and using the full set of tools the game hands me to play, rather than trying to copy the way I play DS1 made the game so much more enjoyable.

In fact, so many of the fights I hated in my first playthrough, like Burnt Ivory King, Watcher and Defender, and Elana, were downright amazing this time using a combination of spells, and dark infused Sacred Chime Hammer, Crypt Blacksword and Silverblack Spear, and like with my second DS1 playthrough, absolutely no shield and no summons. In fact, looking at some other specialised builds, I'm kind of shocked at how deep the mechanics are in this game, and I've got a real urge to try new things out.

This game is incredible, and now I'm on NG+ with this character, and have just breezed my way through Lost Sinner, and am now at Freja within just a few hours. I've seen it mentioned here a lot that DS2 is a bit of an acquired taste, and I think I really get it now.

Everything except Frigid Outskirts. Those cats can fuck right off.

Worth buying SotFS on steam if I own it on PS3?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 02:03 PM PST

    Heya.

I've yet to play through the DLCs, I only ever bought the original on PC when it released, and later on SotFS on PS3 on sale which is still unopened. Seeing how it's down to 10€ on the current sale, would you reckon it's worth picking it up and playing in on steam instead of PS3?

    Really confused

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 01:43 PM PST

I just started playing ds2 and I'm really confused on where to go. I just got at the lost bastille. I went ahead only found a dead end with a key and a door blocked by a statue. Is the game supposed to be this vague on where to go?

    Finished my first SL1 run

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 09:21 AM PST

I've tried to do it a few months before but stuck and gave up at Iron Keep. But I've done it this time. I used OldSouls route and finished the game in like 5 hours. I could've done faster but I made so many mistakes and I used wrong items. I didn't have all the good rings, I used basic ones like Ring of Blades and Silvercat. For weapons, I only used hand axe and bow to draw aggro in Shrine of Amana. I used Armor of Aurous (transparent) because it is similar to being naked but extra defense saved me in some situations.

Hardest boss was TW&TD. It is a duo boss with a badly designed area that doesn't have anything for crowd control. I wasted so many bright bugs because of them.

Other than that Lost Sinner's thrust attack was hard to dodge with low ADP, it was hard to get used to its timing.

Duke's Dear Freya, it was cancer. I accidentally chopped one of his head once and I couldn't kill it without baiting for laser cheese. On my another try, it had so little hp left and I thought I could kill it while tanking the damage and one of the spiders jumped to me and I died immediately after I killed Freja so it didn't count.

Old Iron King was so easy to beat but the real challenge was getting to him. Since I skipped Smelter Demon, run up was too long so I used Belfry Sol bonfire run up to reach him and beat him on first try.

I just played with a different mindset and I beat the bosses I found hard on my first try even with these decent equipments.

One of the biggest benefits of doing SL1 was reminding me how much I have to improve. I used to play with high ADP so rolling was easier. I used shields with 100% dmg reduction in some boss fights like Velstadt or TW&TD. Using a decent weapon without abusing stats and fighting without a shield improved my gameplay.

The feeling when you finish this game without abusing stats and OP weapons and just winning because of your pure skill and game knowledge is priceless.

I still have so much to learn and will definitely try a no death run to see how far I can go and will be getting DS1 as well. It's much more rewarding than any other game, every game that isn't souls doesn't feel enough, they always feel like they lack something and they always have exploitable things or overly useful features to do the job for you. Beating a souls game like this is really awesome.

Thanks to u/kyrule23 for his great tips, he made it possible.

    Edit: some typos

Hey guys I need help. (PS4)

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 12:38 PM PST

So I'm currently playing through darksouls 2 for the first time I've beaten the other two, and love all of them. I'm currently having trouble with the old iron king, because the path to get to him is insane that when I do get to him I only have a few heals left and one of two hits from him I'm dead. Could one of you amazing people be kind enough to possibly join and help me out?

Hello! This might be quite the weird post but, hear me out please. TLDR: I am looking for a buddy

    EDIT- PC is the platform!!
Hey there, I am a big fan of Dark Souls, I've seen playthroughs of all the games, finished Sekiro and DS3 many times. But I can't seem to get through DS1 and DS2. Now it's not like I am dying way too much, and I am just too bad (Not that I am any special at the games either tho) I just get lost, all the tiiime. And not only in the maps but also in the build departure. Sooo, what I am hoping to find a person who is a good boi at this game and who is also okay with talking to a 17 year old born in Czechia (so yeah, my accent is quite the thicc one, just like my strong af body) and who would just play through the game with me, relax and just teach me lmfao. I hope this makes atleast a little bit of sense. And if you would like to go for it. You can hmu. We would go on Discord and play lmfao. So ye, thanks for reading if you made it this far, I dunno what people say to end their post. Don't drink water? Be sad? Idk man.

    The Dark Soul

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 11:43 AM PST

I'm going for the Platinum trophy here on SOTFS. 6 trophy left The 4 Mastery trophies (All Hex, Pyromancies, Sorceries and Miracles) Gathering of Exiles and Moonlight Greatsword. The last 2 I'll do on my next playthrough as some npcs... Fell on my sword. We'll go with that. For the Mastery trophies, any tips for the covenant farming? I farmed The Mad Phantom guy and was praying I won't have to do that again.. How bad are the other covenant rewards to farm? almost impossible to find other players I've got 43 hours, level 140 and have seen 1 soapsign and have been invaded once in Belfry Luna.

    Fuck the undead crypt

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 11:02 AM PST

Seriously. I've barely even started and I'm this close to throwing my controller at the wall. First these these fucking hexer lady people yeeting dark orbs or whatever at me while prisoners attack me, then poisoning me when I get close up to boop them? Fuck that.

Then this blueskinned fucker tells me not to bring light into this room, fine I thought I won't. Put out my torch and walk in only for him to aggro on me anyway because some bitchass hollow with a torch followed me? Fuck that! I didn't bring the light, that hollow did! Kill him instead!

Now he's murdering me every damn time I enter that room. I can take on the syan knights or whatever they're called and the hexer ladies and the grave wardens the blueskinned dude has in his room no problem. But him? If it isn't his hexes that kills me he whips out some surprise attack with that greatsword looking sword.

    Just.... fuck this.....

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 11:00 AM PST

I killed myself many times because i wanted to use the forlorn weapons but as i was doing it i noticed it wasn't stopping at the 50% mark so i continued and now my health is at like 5%. I restarted the game to see if it was a bug but no. So why does it not stop at 50%?

How many people still play on PS4?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 10:33 AM PST

Hello all! I just picked up DS2 for PS4 because of that huge sale; great price, completed DS1 and DS3 and love them... time to play this bad boi. However, I have played a fair amount of it in the past and I remember struggling pretty hardcore with some areas. I am one for loving jolly co-operation and will usually try to summon people every chance I get. How popular would you say the game is for those starting out? Will I find summon signs around or will it be rather barren?

I know I can post on r/SummonSign should I really need help with no one around, but I'm just wondering for in general.
