Dark Souls is simply the best game ever.

I remember downloading it "legally" on my PC back in 2015 and quitting as soon as I passed by the few hollows outside the cell you start your journey in because I found it overwhelmingly dreadful, and there were simply too many things that popped up when I opened my character stats so that scared me even more. In the meantime, almost 5 years later, I became an adult and responsibly spent my first-earned money on the remastered version because I randomly though of it, which happened a couple of days ago. Day one, I made a thief and chose black firebombs as my gift, successfully cheesing the Asylum Demon after passing the first bonfire, thus never learning how to jump attack which bit me in the ass some time later. I felt such joy and fulfillment. After that, I got out of the asylum and out of nowhere came a bird three times my size and took me to the Firelink Shrine which seemed to me like such a friendly place. I spent some time talking to the Crestfallen Soldier and wandered through the map in search of items. I finally found a path that was supposed to lead me to the Undead Burg except I simply never thought that there'd be a door in the sewer, so I spent a lot of time figuring that out until a friend told me. Day two, I'm clearing the Burg and picking up loot, until stumbling upon my first Black Knight. Of course, he obliterates me. So I keep dying to him and clearing the Burg over and over again until I realize that I had never kept my shield up while circling him, instead I tried to roll through his attacks which proved to be quite difficult with the lock-on system. Once I figured out that I simply needed to circle around him with my shield up, things became so much easier and I was able to backstab him to death. After that, I went over to the Taurus Demon, having skipped the part of the tutorial where you utilize the jump attack, I fail to kill him and close the game in order not to lose my zen. Day 3, I open up Reddit and search on how to actually do the jump attack, and I end up killing him quite easily. The satisfaction is back. But of course, I wasn't done. I used the homeward bone and went over to kill the merchant for the Uchigatana which I am using at the moment, having bought the Residence key and a bottomless box before that . Okay, I'm pumped now, but there's another challenge in the Burg and that's Havel. Went over to him and got my ass handed to me multiple times, closed the game and decided to look for a guide on how to kill him. Day 4, I spend the entire day practicing parry & riposte on Burg mobs, I get inside the tower leading to Havel, but I close the game because I start to feel stressed out for some reason. Finally, we get to day 5 (this very day) and I clean the Burg effortlessly, getting to Havel in about 2 minutes. I parry each of his attacks and get that sweet feeling all over again, and although I was feeling pretty confident since he telegraphs hard and I practiced parrying the entire day before, I was sweating like crazy and my arms were shaking like mad. And that's all of my Dark Souls experience so far.

In conclusion, this game just does it for me. The lore is amazing, the atmosphere is dreadful and bitter, yet beautiful in it's own way, and the gameplay is as rewarding as it is harsh. That's everything, hope I didn't bore you to death, have fun and stay sane!

I made my son a bonfire!

My son beat and 100% all three of the Dark Souls game. So instead of buying some cheap plastic statue, I made him his own from scratch! https://imgur.com/gallery/UdPsWfM

My Wife got me Dark Souls Remastered and I am so flippin' excited

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 06:20 AM PST

I've already played through DS a thousand times, but getting the remastered edition feels like all those years ago when I first got Dark Souls.

I've never been so excited for a game that I've already played technically.

Blocking Nito scream spikes with a two handed weapon stops them from hitting you at all.

I just got DSR for Christmas, I beat the asylum demon with no deaths, was coasting through undead burg when suddenly

    "Dark spirit 'sl11pvp' has invaded!"

Oh boy. I can tell this is going to be a right bastard. Welp, better just try and fight my best.

He comes out with some wobbly red hand magic shield that I have no idea where that come from, welp. I'm good at dodging and I dodge quite a few of his attacks, problem is I'm 2 handing my broadsword and I hit a heavy attack which as far as I could see barely even scratched his HP.

Eventually he does hit me and it cuts my HP in half. So of course I die, cue point down.

Am I salty? a tiny bit? I'm also confused as to what his stuff is and how, -if he really is 'SL11PVP'- much vitality he has.

This truly do be my first "thank you dark souls" moment

What’s your favorite area in the game and why

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 04:37 PM PST

I just beat this game for the first time yesterday and one thing I can't get over is how good the areas and levels in this game are aesthetically

Having come from DS3 it blew me away, not that DS3's areas are bad per se, it's just the ones in this game are so good.

Personally I love the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith, I'm a sucker for volcano/lava areas in games and this one is just so cool, the broken down arch trees, the smashed up castle-like structures, and giant gargoyles and duel-wielding Capra Demons, it's just so cool.

What's your favorite area in the game and why?

Just Beat Asylum Demon With The Broken Hilt

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 02:56 PM PST

Took about 20ish minutes doing 2 damage each swing but I finally took down the Asylum Demon on the first try with my Broken Hilt in a new game. I chose twin humanities for the heal during the fight since you don't have the flask yet. I got that big Demon Club but I won't be able to wield it for a long time since it takes 46 strength.

I had the best invasion in a while

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 12:04 PM PST

So the other day I decided to do a shi b.c. a of the east build in ds3. I had my murakumo+6 and invaded in the Smoldering Lake. As we were fighting I noticed the sand worm was there so I used home for cover. These guys died to it and I stared in shock as I recieved 500,000 souls. That invasion got me 26 soul levels.

I don't tendt to write posts, but I do read them all ) I must say, as a gamer for like 20 years, this is the best gaming experience I ever had, And the community is the best one I've ever seen. Can't wait to start DS2, If anyone is playing on Xbox and wants to co-op I would be more then happy. Love you all, STAY HOLLOW for a change! ;)

I'm... probobly not as dedicated as most of you

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 03:28 PM PST

This is my first post on this subreddit.

I am new, I'm 17 and I only ever played skyrim on console. And suddenly I got all 3 dark souls, overwhelming and playing the first one was strange and difficult, but also loving it because I realized the map was connected. I then start brutally trudging through the second for some reason, I got pretty far. I'm a borther of blood, blood to the blood god. My name is red and i wear the hunters hat. I weild a zwheilheinder proudly. With a rose sheild.

But I've never gone new game plus, i hope you guys can teach me more about the amazing game that was your childhood.

What was/is your favourite build you used?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2019 04:54 PM PST

Gimme your favourite builds that you tried out! Stats if you can, and weapons definitely.

My favourite is easily Faith/Strength: +10 Divine Zwëihander/+15 Great Club

    Darkmoon Talisman/Grass Crest Shield

    VIT-40

    ATT-16

    END-40

    STR-27

    DEX-10

    FAI-50

Spells: Great Lightning Spear/Wrath of the Gods/Sunlight Blade (406 buff)/Homeward

    FaP/Ring of the Sun's Firstborn

Ultimate PvE build, for me. Annihilated, obliterated, and Decimated every boss and every enemy. Added attachment to the fact my little brother of 6 was even able to wreck stuff with it.

Where and when was the first time you guys ever saw Your first vagrant?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 12:33 AM PST

Me and my friends were talking about this in a Discord Call the other day and I'm curious as to what you guys have to say. For me it was my 3rd playthrough at Sens Fortress, had no idea what it was and didn't kill it because of it, later found out how rare they are and got super annoyed about that.
