How to beat the Blue Smelter Demon solo as a melee build.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:49 AM PST

First off, you're going to need a 100% magic shield, and a 100% physical damage shield. Make sure to equip both for easy swapping. You can get a 100% magic shield by fusing a faintstone with a Rebel's Greatshield. A faintstone is available in Pharros Doors. Here's a very helpful video that shows you how to obtain it. It's fairly easy. The Ring Of Restoration is also very good for this fight. The Chloranthy Ring also helps with stamina. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFyXDdWhW4E&t=16s

Now, in order to get to the Blue Smelter Demon, I'd recommend you run through the gate at the end of the hallway full of enemies. It's a bit difficult but if you're fast enough it's not too bad. Jumping seems to help a lot. Do the same for the next gate afterward. Now, you should be able to drop down the hole and sprint your way to the fog door. Make sure that once you drop down you don't stop running, as being slow seems to increase the likelyhood of getting slowed by the wizard.

Now that you're finally at the boss, here's where the fun begins. One of the most important things to keep in mind is to keep your stamina up. It's very important, otherwise you may not be able to block his moves consistently. Until the boss lights his sword on fire, you're able to safely light attack him after he stabs. You may be able to do this even when his sword is on fire, but you'll probably need a large amount of stamina for it to be safe. Of course, make sure you're close enough before going for it. Sometimes, after the boss does his three swing attacks, he'll jump up in the air and hit the ground. Shield this, and if you have enough stamina, you won't be staggered. After he does this attack he'll occasionally release a blue magic burst attack. This does a ton of magic damage, so be very careful not to be hit by it. After the burst comes out, he's wide open for a strong attack.

After a bit of damage, the boss will light his sword on fire. At this point it's crucial to switch to the 100% magic shield. Keep in mind that you'll lose much more stamina from blocking his attacks at this point. From now until the end of the fight, you want to make sure to hold shield for every attack he does. The best time to get damage after he lights his sword on fire is when he does the 3 swing attacks followed by the jump in the air and blue magic burst. You're able to get a strong attack when he does this. This appears to be the safest way of consistently getting damage on him. Do this for the rest of the fight, making sure to keep your stamina up. The safest time to heal is when you have a large amount of stamina, and he does a stab attack.

PS: You can block the blue magic burst with your 100% magic shield, and this will likely be necessary if he staggers you after the jump attack.

Is the Moonlight GS worth it?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:15 PM PST

I recently made a sorcerer and I'm contemplating on using a bonfire astetic on dukes dear freja for Moonlight GS, or crystal soul spear. I've read up on it and people say that CSS is better than the Moonlight GS, but I just can't figure out what to pick.

How does Chimes / Staffs scaling works?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 08:44 AM PST

Sup guys currently on my first playthrough. Trying to be spoiler free the most possible, but coming from DSR, you had int / faith adjusts on talismans and catalysts. How does it work in DS2?

Do you infuse Chimes? So far my lightning spears and emit force are very underwhelming lol.

I think that sorcery peaked in Dark souls 2

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:03 PM PST

First of all, sorcery was terrible in DS1, most spells were easy to dodge and not too damaging, yet the dark sorceries were too powerful, ending up in a PvP situation where many invaders were just glass cannon builds that would spam dark bead in invasions, leading to one shots. This even occurs in the remaster, I recall this happening to me multiple times in the undead parish, at a normal level for that area. This generated an idea that players who went through the game with magic builds were simply all doing a glass cannon one shot build that people hated.

In dark souls 3, it's the opposite: most magic is weak unless players use glass cannon builds. It's commonly seen in 'ganks' where players use sorcery in the background while invaders are fighting other players in the group. In DS3, it was still possible to deal high yet fair numbers with sorcery, but it had room for improvement.

In dark souls 2, it peaked, spells became more versatile and more varied making the playstyle more fun. Many players introduction to this is through an early invasion where the NPC Invader will use a variety of sorceries to bear the player. In DS2, sorceries also are more balanced, so even though spells can be used to control an area, they won't become unfair, in fact, such spells can also punish players who farm invaders through teams, countering them.

So, in conclusion, sorceries peaked in dark souls 2 because they were balanced and fair while also fun.

What is your favourite enemy in the game (bosses and mobs) and why?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 02:44 AM PST

My fav. enemy is the pursuer. I just love the concept that he "pursues" you. He also drops the rings of blade which is a must have item for non-magic builds. The thing i like most about him that his charge is parriable - very satisfying if you pull it off.

Re-Spec tonight, I need weapon suggestions.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 11:41 AM PST

SM is at 1.8 Million, SL is at 150 stats are all at 23 and attunement is at 21.

I am liking it but I would like to try a STR build, so I am looking for decent STR weapons, I got me some boss weapons that have good scaling in STR (Gargoyle Bident, Dragon Rider Halberd, Barbed Club and the likes)

So far the movesets haven't been so impressive so I was wondering what are some of the best STR weapons out there.

If I am banned in the original dark souls 2 and buy SOTFS in the SOTFS game, will I also get banned? I did nothing to be banned. I never opened a cheat mechanism, the most I did was back up my account because I formatted the pc just not showing up for me to summon can only battle in the arena

    Random stats

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 10:11 PM PST

So I downloade ds2 again after about 6 months, and when I go to my characters my stats seem to have been changed. As in, no sane person that familiar with the game would have built it that way. This is across all characters I have made, and one seems to have disappeared entirely. Has anyone else had this problem?

Stats for anyone interested below Vgr- 14 End- 10 Vit- 19 Atn- 25 Str- 26 Dex- 18 Adp- 12 Fth- 32 Int- 31

super laggy servers? (original version on PC)

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 06:37 PM PST

I've barely been finding enemies for pvp recently. And often when I find someone, it's ultra-laggy. I'm not sure if I'm just unlucky or if it's a server problem (my internet is just normal). For example I just invaded someone in Eleum Loyce. They just stood there and I did hit them repeatedly without them taking damage or doing anything, then got disconnected from them. Next I also get invaded - no invasion message, but the signs are typical (no use of bonfire or invasion items etc.). So I just wait for them to load and the invasion message to appear. Then suddenly out of nowhere I get a message that the invader died. Very strange...
