World's First Hitless run without dodge and ranged at SL1 Posted: 19 Nov 2019 06:47 AM PST No roll or backstep. No glitches or quitouts. Took almost 3 months to get from previous run. [link] [comments] |
The Love of vs. The Skill Within Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:25 AM PST Hello, Dark Souls community. I am just your fellow Dark Souls lover who wants to say a few things. I love DS. I love it more than almost every other franchise. My problem lies with my skill. A lot of you can do a Soul level 1 playthrough like it's nothing. Me.... I like to level my character to punish the foes who have punished me. I farm souls, I level, I move on, I repeat. Another thing I have never done is a specific build. I like too many different things. For example... I love lightweight characters. But Artorias' armor, sword, and shield. I love one melee, but I Also love pyromancy. I try to be a jack of all trades so I try to have some of every skill. What do you all think? [link] [comments] |
I forgot how bad bed of chaos is. Posted: 20 Nov 2019 03:07 AM PST I'm playing through dark souls for the first time in like 4 years. I'm playing the Remastered version on switch and its fantastic. I've beaten all the bosses apart from gwyn and nito, but I don't think either will be too hard. However the bed of chaos is the worst boss in the game by a long shot, I beat every other boss in one or 2 tries and the only one I died to more than once was the taurus demon, because I fell off the bridge twice, but the stupid bed of chaos killed me more times than every other boss combined. It killed me over and over, I just couldn't get time the dodge rolls properly and he kept wacking me into the holes in the floor. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone use the bastard sword? Posted: 20 Nov 2019 04:01 AM PST I've been playing for years and i don't know anyone else who uses it. Its got a versatile movset sweeping light attacks good for multiple enemies overhead heavy attacks good for focusing on one enemy. Same requirements and weight as the claymore with better damage and equal scaling with about the same attack speed. Generally pretty fun but I've never seen anyone else use it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Nov 2019 05:11 PM PST So I just played through DS for the first time recently (incredible) and went with a Dex-ish Pyro build. Tbh it was a bit muddled because of some spread out stats. Immediately after I finished that first play through, I started a fresh NG cause I knew I wanted to go with a Str +15 Zwei build, which I did. Other than the +15 Zwei being an insane amount of pancaking fun, it was a totally different feel for combat that I had to get used to, and I'm really taken with it. Fast forward to the start of the Artorias DLC, and I fight the Sanctuary Guardian no problem. Still an amazing fight, but wasn't too troubling. Then I get to Artorias...I start from the Garden Bonfire and clear out the Royal Wood, use half my Estus (now at 5) and I figure you know what, let's throw on a ring of sacrifice and start the Artorias fight, get killed and and get sent back to bonfire instead of having to walk back. But I f*cking killed him. Like I FIGURED I would have problems with him as a boss, any problems, but...I just didn't. I think this being the end of a second consecutive play through is helping me retain and continuously get better with the controls, but I did NOT think I knew that fight well enough to kill him first try. I'm just kind of in shock how instinctual this game becomes sometimes. And I def don't want to brag or give off the impression I'm amazing at the game, I'm just very surprised by how that fight turned out. The best (most entertaining, best back and forth hits, etc.) boss fight I've had this whole play through, hands down. Can't wait to fight Kalameet ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ EDIT: Grammar [link] [comments] |
TIL: Gaping Dragon has *2* different aerial attacks. Posted: 20 Nov 2019 04:07 AM PST I'd say everyone who's fought him knows the short range version, where he takes flight as a way to quickly turn and face you. You get trampled if too close, but as the clip shows it's reasonably easy to keep your distance. What I've never seen before is the long range version, where he goes off-camera and tracks your location perfectly before stomping on you. At a guess, it seems like he only gets that move below a certain health threshold and most people don't see it because they finish him off in the middle of the running attack. Anyone else got clips of bosses doing "rare moves", as it were? [link] [comments] |
Dark souls 1 beaten in 39:46 IGT Posted: 20 Nov 2019 12:14 AM PST 39 minutes 46 seconds, got this run a while back. Link to the run [link] [comments] |

Any idea what is on Artorias' grave? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 07:32 PM PST http://imgur.com/gallery/SPpV0xx I was playing through the game again recently and just beat Artorias. I gave Ciaran his soul because I was feeling generous, but when I came back through I noticed this purplish-black thing left here. I doubt it has to do with me giving Ciaran his soul, but does anyone know what this might be? [link] [comments] |

Black Knight Halberd First Run Help Posted: 19 Nov 2019 07:03 PM PST So for a long time I picked up Dark Souls and would get about to the Tomb of Giants/Dukes Archives before I would get too frustrated with the levels and quit. I recently decided to pick up the game again and decided on how I wanted to play the game. I was planning to farm for the Balder Side Sword and level the hell out of dex while also using it as an excuse to practicing parrying. I was using uchi in the meantime. Well when I went down to get the Grass Crest Shield, the black knight there jumped off the cliff for me and dropped the BKH. It's kinda made me want to just run with this since I've heard so much good/fun things about it. What would be a good build to compliment the BKH? Currently I'm at 14 Str (out of 22 to 2 hand) and the 18 Dex needed. I also have leveled endurance to 19. So I still have room to still go into full dex build or I could switch to this. Either way I'm super excited cause I'm going to finish it this time! Praise the Sun!! [link] [comments] |
A humorous note about the Painted World Posted: 19 Nov 2019 05:09 PM PST Not sure if discussion, but I wanted to share my thoughts on it. The painting itself looks a LOT like a Bob Ross painting. It's a nice quick landscape that was likely done in oils (most paintings in fantasy reflect the painting styles and therefore mediums of oil paintings), but most of all it's home to creatures with no place. Mistakes. Abominations. But it's Pricilla's world. There are no mistakes, just those who need a home. Happy accidents. Well maybe not happy. And the connection is just enough to make me wonder if Bob Ross DID influence this area. Even before the wide spread use of the internet, happy trees and happy accidents were a bit of a comforting meme. And have you watched The Joy of Painting? Taking something so warm and comforting then flipping it on its head is 100% a souls thing to do. [link] [comments] |
I finished DS with halberd help from the Black Knight, so I decided to put on my new tattoo Posted: 19 Nov 2019 05:19 PM PST |
Please help, I can't find a way out of this painting Posted: 19 Nov 2019 05:04 PM PST As title says, I got eaten by a painting and I can't find my way out and there's poison I can't cure or kill from a distance, and there's a giant zombie dragon that hates me and a bunch of spear blobs that can deal obscene amounts of damage even with my heaviest armor. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:45 AM PST I still need 4 Sunlight Medals to get Great Lighting Spear, but I can't find anyone that summons me in DS Remastered for xBox One, does anyone here still play it? [link] [comments] |
Discussion: Dark Souls vs Bloodborne vs Sekiro Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:33 AM PST Which game do you prefer out of the 3 and why? My answer would be Bloodborne due to the heavy Lovecraftian mythos that's heavily embedded within the game [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:18 AM PST I believe this is a subreddit for DS1 but i want to know if I should buy this game or DS2 first. I played Bloodborne, Sekiro and DS3 and absolutely loved those games. I'm kind of in the middle about DS1 and 2 though. Which is better? [link] [comments] |
Why do so many people use the claymore in ds1? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 12:11 PM PST The claymore is a decent weapon but for a strength build the zweihander is better in almost every way. I understand using it at the start because of the lower strength requirement but i see people using it through to the end of the game. [link] [comments] |
What's the correct path to Blighttown/Quelaag? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 07:53 PM PST So this may sound crazy but I think I've gone the wrong way to Quelaag during every playthrough. All the enemies are facing the other direction so I just wanted to get some advice. I kill the gargoyles, come back to Firelink, down the circular stares, down the elevator, around a corner and use the master key to go up a spiraling starewell and to the Valley of Drake's. Cross a plank-bridge and into a tunnel with guys facing the other direction. Is this the right way? If not, which way is the right way? [link] [comments] |
Can anyone help with O&S on PS4? Posted: 20 Nov 2019 01:30 AM PST SL 62 and can't seem to figure out Ornstein after I kill the fatty. Can someone help? Drop the sign where the archer is in the great hall if you don't mind. [link] [comments] |
Astora Straight Sword any good? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 07:57 PM PST So i decided to do a faith knight build(paladin) and mainly run quality for dex n str and faith for mericals. I currently fashion souls as an Elite knight, and was wondering if the Astora stright sword is any good. From what i see on the DS3 reddit page, players say it was nerfed in DS3 so i wasnt as good as it used to be, but how does the sword hold up in DS1/remastered? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Nov 2019 11:38 PM PST I would like to know, what the normal Soul Level is, that most people play at, because I want both being able to be OP in singleplayer and be able to be invaded etc. [link] [comments] |
Just finnished my first playthrough! Posted: 19 Nov 2019 05:38 PM PST I thought gwyn was a tad to easy, especially if you parry him, but i think it was great! Im definitely hooked now. Where to next? Ds2 or ds3? Also, i didnt play any dlc, so should i do that before anything else? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Nov 2019 02:43 PM PST I am having trouble killing the Bat-Winged Demons in Anor Londo, any tips? [link] [comments] |
