An ode to the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo.

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:23 PM PST

Little back story first. Ds3 was my first dark souls game. After getting platinum I wanted to play 1&2. Got them on sale for great prices.

In ds3 I seen the fallen giant in Anor londo and didn't think too much of it besides it had a blacksmith pickup item next to it. No big deal I thought. Two nights ago still my first run on ds1r I made it to Anor londo (what a beautiful site!) defeated O&S (fantastic battle, at least Ornstein was) and decided to check all the nooks and cranny while I was there. THATS when I met him. Alive and well a friendly giant willing to smith my weapons(had wonderful resources to buy as well!).

Then I thought back to my ds3 run at how the fallen giant was not long for this life anymore. Truly made me sad coming to the realization of what it's future held. I don't think even Sif hit me in the emotions like the giant did. What a great help he has been to me upgrading my weapons and so on. Just thought I'd share this as I didnt play the games in order and realize the impact of all what changes. Wonderful game so far.

    Dark Spirit Podrick is Delightful

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:03 PM PST

My mom and my husband are playing Dark Souls together right now. They've been invaded by Podrick at least three times now. Each time, he helped them spot sneaky enemies and generally kept them safe. When they were heading into an ambush of rats, he dropped a couple purple moss. When they cleared a room full of undead, he did the cheering emote. He was just a generally lovely person, and I wanted to post this in hopes that he sees it.

If you do see this, Podrick: They are so sorry that they summoned Solaire when you were there. They had no idea he would attack you. They also said you're a pro at dodging.

One moment from Dark Souls you will never forget?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 01:19 AM PST

For me it has to be playing it for the first time, riding down the elevator to Firelink Shrine and realizing how connected everything is and that i can navigate throught the world without any waypoint or minimap.

Just bought dark souls last night

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 04:28 PM PST

I'm really enjoying the game so far! My mother passed away suddenly in September, and with the first holiday season without her coming up, I decided to grab this game to keep busy. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but by the time I got to the undead castle place I was really into it! Took me a little longer to figure where I was going and what to do though. At first it was pretty simple, get passed the small bridge with the undead fire bombing it. Tried fighting a knight down a flight of stairs and got wrecked. So I decided to try and go down that path later! Eventually fought some dude down a bunch of circle stairs with a giant club that just wrecked me. So instead I fought a giant demon with a massive axe or hammer that I couldn't use, because it apparently requires a massive amount of strength! This game is weird xD. Can you even get that much strength that early in the game? After that, I found a bridge with a dragon. Didn't see a way to have at him, so I took some stairs down, and thought at first it would lead me the dragon, or at least the door he was guarding, from underneath. It leads to rats. There was also a message saying to attack the tail but I didn't have a bow so onwards to the rats! I hate those rats. Past that, I found a new area I thought was different from where the door the dragon was guarding would lead, and climbed up a tower only to find yet another one of those ass hole knights from earlier. So instead I killed the giant pig. Did I mention that this game is weird? It's very weird. Further on I thought I had found my way forward, and found a mother fucking halberd! Good bye axe, I have a spear-axe! Which I couldn't use. Okay, fine, I'll use it later. And by later I mean it's time to farm souls to actually level up so I can use this halberd, and buy a bow because I am not beating that giant knight with the shield! Shooting the tail doesn't kill the dragon. It gets you a sword that shoots shock waves. This is a really, really, weird game. Stuck again, I looked for a way forward again and found a stair case that leads to murder by hooded demons. Also the dragon flies down and you can run past him. And unlock! The same place with the pig. Welp. Eventually, I found a pathway AROUND the giant asshole knight and found a blacksmith! Halberd +3! Time for round two, giant asshole knight! I really don't love that mage and his posse of undead berserkers. Beware of lying in ambush indeed! Then I fought a pair of bat demons that forgot they were statues. A +3 Halberd really hurts those guys! Also I got a tail axe just for attacking the first bat demon statue guy. This game is really, really fucking weird. I don't like the gargoyle halberd as much as the regular halberd.

In summary: I like this halberd. What's your favorite weapon?

Edit: I don't know how to indent paragraphs on reddit apparently

    I Finally Beat Gwyn

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:00 PM PST

I bought this game in 2014 and my character was a standard melee character using a spear. I was not very good and was able to grind through to get to Gwyn, but could not beat him. I rage quit after trying for a weekend and didn't pick the game back up until Christmas of 2018.

My profile had been deleted so I restarted from scratch as a caster since I thought ranged attacks would make the game easier. I stopped playing after a week as I didn't have time to really play long due to work. I got a new job a couple months ago and picked the game back up. Tonight I finally beat Gwyn, 5+ years later.

I don't plan on playing NG+ because by the end I was ready for the game to be over (I put in about 60 hours). I got Dark Souls 2 a few weeks ago and am trying to decide if I want to jump straight into that or play something different in between. I don't think I will do a caster again - some of the boss fights were challenging, but it felt too safe and I never really felt like I was going to die outside of boss fights.

    Anyways, I finally did it!

Achievements made today, on Dark Souls Remastered, for the Switch

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:46 AM PST

    I beat Oreostein and Smoughen

    I found amazing chest

I found nice Witch Robes in small alcove next to giant lava man in lava

I learned that Giant Lava man does not like you touching the witch robes

I made a profound revelation that the giant lava man that is made of lava and spews lava all day, every day, is immune to Fire
I killed giant lava man with magic missile, bad magic missile, big magic missile, and big bad magic missile

I got eggberts flame so I can double fire like true fire man

I made nice Spider Lady so happy by rejecting enough of my humanity that she gave me that fire spell from the opening cinematic

Today was a good day. =)

    My third ending of DS1

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:24 AM PST

    https://imgur.com/a/SGnDcdf
After playing the three dark souls and researching about the endings, I created my own theory on how to get a third final in the first game.

This ending has one consequence: stops the flame cycle completely.

As you know, each ending is activated if I leave the room or if the bonfire acted.
But what happens if I don't do any of those actions?

I do not mean that there is a special way to escape, but to a simpler answer: to remain in the room for all eternity as a guardian of the extinguished flame.
Of course, the title of the guardian may sound good but in reality, it is more prison for the sins committed.

At this point, this undead has destroyed all beings with powerful souls that stand out. That's mean some innocents NPCs like the firekeepers.

Obviously, the snakes will not like this and will send undeads to stop me. Unfortunately for them, every time they arrive the guardian would become stronger every time it defeats then. This is quite fortunate since this guardian would have some fun in combat, instead of being bored without doing anything in that room.

Preventing the cycle from happening again, this will stop the undeads to follow this path and look for other solutions. I mean ... the decisions of the gods are not the smartest.

As account, this is profile is doomed. No NG+ or DS2, DS3 for this future. It's like when the game ask you to delete your save file for complete the game. Like the Nier Games

And well, I really enjoyed playing these games and I wanted to end this experience in this way.
    Thanks for read this.

    Help me I’m scared

Just picked up the remastered version of dark souls. Played the original but never finished the game.. I know it's tough so I've been scared to try it out again but this time around I'm motivated to get to the end. Any tips on what to upgrade or weapons I should pick up along the way?

    Guys i did it

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 01:22 PM PST

I just beat the game for the first time. It took me just under 41 hours, i'm now level 95 with mask of the mother and the rest fully upgraded giant's set with +15 uchigatana, +3 Quelaag's fury sword, grass crest and black knight shields. It's truly an amazing experience but i'm kinda sad i don't have the dlc as i would've loved to fight Artorias and Manus, but either way i'm looking forward to play ng+ now :)

It's like seeing Solaire or another friend who'll help me with something. I love them and I just want to thank you.

Yesterday I finally beat sif it took me 5 tries though

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 03:34 AM PST

I made a post on here earlier about how I was having trubble but I beat him/her (I have no clue) at around lv 60. She could two hit me and like I'm just on a high. so I go to fight the ceaseless discharge... Dead. But like that's fine it's dark souls

Also I have no idea what the covenant of Astoras does. My guess is that it's necessary to beat the game but like. Why?

    Edit- oh yeah first playthrough.

    About approach to the game

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 03:33 AM PST

Do you stick to one armor and weapon (I used only halberd and then black knight greatsword only and later i only used Tarkus armor). Do you often change weapon/armor depending on what fight is coming?

Does Dark Souls has Dynamic Difficulty Adjusting?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 05:44 PM PST

It probably is spoken before but when I was doing an SL1 run and dying to OS countless times I noticed it wasn't killing me in 2 hits but 3 hits unlike before? It may be just because of armor I changed but is it really, I want to know to be sure?

    Bed of Chaos glitch/exploit/bug

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 02:52 PM PST

I've only seen on post about this glitch, so I figured I'd post and share my findings as well!

Unfortunately there's no "easy" way to do it so you still have to beat the boss as normal.

The glitch part comes in on the third phase of the boss. You DO need to summon a phantom and unfortunately AS THE HOST you will NOT get humanity or souls. HOWEVER the phantom will get a minimum of 30,000 souls and 1 humanity. As the phantom you can get up to 42,000 with the silver serpent ring and symbol of Avarice.

So, on the third phase of the boss, the host gets to hide behind a tree while the phantom has to jump, run through the roots and hit the center of the tree.

What should happen is the hosts game crashes, while the phantom goes through the victory screen gaining souls and humanity.

Was replicated multiple times and worked each time.

We tried with two phantoms: one time having one of them die and the other complete the glitch before they loaded out, and both receiving souls and humanity.

The other time, the host and one of the phantoms hid behind the tree while the other phantom complete the glitch, but both the host and the phantom with him both crashed.

I'm guessing as long as the other phantom dies just before the glitch is completed, both phantoms will earn rewards. My friends and I haven't tested this as we just realized this had happened when testing the glitch with two people.

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:05 PM PST

I've done maybe 30 tries of this stupid fucking fight and Kalameet never does any attacks that leave his tail open. The few times he has are in the death screen animation. I want to cut his tail off but at this point I almost just want to break my controller and stop playing Dark Souls again.
