To the player named "oh no" who randomly invaded while I was minding my business

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:17 PM PST

I'm not sure what I was expecting. I only started this game, refilled flasks at the Undead Burgs bonfire, wanted to continue and cleaned off the mobs in front of it and suddenly there was the message. I was confused and worried, thinking "oh fuck im gonna die" and suddenly there you were. Big. Red. Nothing like the players I saw so far. You saw me, approached me, attacked me. I tried to attack as well but did like no damage so I just hid behind my shield. And suddenly you stopped. Walked backwards, looked around. I was pressing my back against the grey veil that stood between me and the bonfire. You glanced one more time at me and suddenly. Jumped off the roof into your doom, leaving behind 200k or so souls, twin humanities and something else I forgot because of confusion.

You, who was named "oh no" and instilled fear into me, almost one shotting me before you stopped, truly have made my evening. I can not stop thinking about this strange encounter for the past 3 hours. Thank you.

    I beat quelaag!

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 05:30 AM PST

I didn't actually think I could do it after the many tries and failures against this boss. All I needed was an upgraded zweihander, a ring and a little bit of help from Mildred and the boss became a pushover. I've learnt loads of new things from the advice of everyone who helped and I can finally continue on with this game happily (and hopefully make it to the end) I'd been trying for weeks before my last post and I think the game just clicked with me when I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I'll be sure to revisit the helpful people of this subreddit soon if I ever get stuck again.

    Thank you all!

If you're reading this IMCPalpatine special thanks to you.

After looot of hours and frustration, after farming all the areas, getting coals, rare weapons, collecting miracles, sorceries and pyromancies, infusing the weapons, this adventure is (at least in trophies) finished.

Thanks to r/summonsign and to the people who helped me!!

    crown of dusk/four kings

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 10:46 PM PST

Fellow chosen undead sorcerers, remember to remove your crown of dusk when you fight the four kings, if you don't want to suffer extra magic damage. Don't make this stupid mistake as what I just did.

I spent hours today fighting the four kings , got beaten numerous times (more than i could count), and just now noticed I have been wearing the crown during all this time. 🤕

    Artorias vs Ornstein

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:29 AM PST

Now the title is very self explanatory. But just to make somethings clear

1 the fight is a regular one on one with standardt equipment. 2 Sif or Smough are not involved and cannot help them. 3 It is not based on their damage and health in game . It is a fight based on their skills in general. 4 Both are in their normal form. Artorias is not corrupted by the abyss

I'm fairly new to the lore and just curious about what you think and I would appreciate if u just answer this post thanks.

    Thoughts on the gravelord sword.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 10:42 PM PST

Personally I find this weapon to be really freaking interesting, like I got it basically on accident by finding the coffin which allows you to enter the area to join the covenant and have used it ever since, ive reinforced it to +4 (had +3 walking in to anor Londo) and it pretty much 1-3 hits any enemy except bosses which still are obliterated by it, i combo with the grass crest because of the high amount of stamina consumed but none the less I just think it's crazily op and love using it two handed with grass crest on my back

I'm starting Dark Souls for the very first time.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:08 PM PST

Since I loved a very similar game, I have always heard of it and always wanted to try it, and many friends and people online suggested me to play the Dark Souls series, I decided to finally play a Souls game for the first time in my life. So basically I bought Dark Souls Remastered and tomorrow I'll play it. I am almost completely clueless of this game (I know it as the very hard game where the protagonist is a knight, his friends are the fat knight and the sun praising knight, and there's a dog that wields a sword). What is the best start for a noob like me? What I need to know? What should I expect from this game?

EDIT: I deeply played Bloodborne, if you guys did as well feel free to make comparisons.

What order would you recommend playing the souls games?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 09:00 PM PST

I've beaten Sekiro to 100% completion, and I bought the dark souls trilogy when on sale on the Xbox store. (So no bloodbourne). I started playing Ds1 because I typically like doing things in chronological order. This was some time ago when I got stuck at a certain bit (hydra beach). I know how to get unstuck at this point, but at the same time I wouldn't mind continuing/starting over after playing the other ones. I've heard Ds3 is a little more forgiving, but idk.

Is darks souls more or less difficult if you play bloodborne or ds3 first in your opinion

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 09:56 AM PST

I started with 1 and moved on to 3 (I'll come back to 2) and I got my collective sh*t caved in for hours after beating champion gynder(spelling) quite easily so I moved on to bloodborne and basically the same I get wrecked relentlessly into submission, is it different if played in a different order? I know they're both more fast paced than 1 and I'm really having a hard time keeping up

    Beat Gwyn Lord of Cinder

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 06:20 AM PST

What a finale! I have now finished ds1 after bb and ds3 and started NG+. The soundtrack of Gwyn fight man... How can I fight with tears in my eyes. I didn't use parrying at all and he was sooo difficult lol. Just wanted to share my happiness that I killed every possible boss in NG and am looking forward to NG+! Also, having played ds3 first the ost and moves are the same as Soul of Cinder's second phase which is a really nice feature imo. Cheers to everybody and thanks to fromsoftware for giving us these wonderful games :)

    Getting into Speedrunning Dark Souls

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 04:26 PM PST

I've been a fan of the Dark Souls series for years now with the first one being my favourite by far. I've spent hundreds of hours wandering threw the world of Lordran. I've tried and played dozens of different playstyles, dived deep into the lore of Dark Souls and I'm still coming back years after my first playthrough at this amazing game. Recently I thought of myself: "How fast can I beat this game?"(NG+, Not all Bosses) And so I started playing and practicing: best pathing, optimal usage of bonfires, slaying bosses and so on. I'm not using any glitches (like the Sen's skip), only minor shortcuts and some cheese. I'm using the BKH from the black knight in Dark root basin. I'm mostly struggling with Bed of chaos (fuck this stupid boss) and Gwyn (Parries). My best time is 2:28:31 (today) and I'm trying to improve on this time. It's far from being a world record but I'm still proud of myself. This is my first time posting in this sup, I wanted to share this because I'm thankful for this masterpiece and for the many hours of joy (and frustration) I was able to experience with this game. I enjoy this game so much and it's one of my favourite games.

    I did it

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 10:22 PM PST

Spoiler Well it's good to have this comunity as we all love to talk about games especially masterpieces like DS. I must admit I pulled I guide about twice when I was completely Lost and I don't feel proud about it, but I did figured out My self that Gwyn's weakness was parry, I did not use parry a single time during the entire Game but he was draining My stamina with 3 hits, It worked well and allowed me to defeat him pretty easily. Now this may not be astonishing as many of You may Even speed run the game but we can all agree this is epic gaming. Praise the sun.

Tips on how I can adjust from Bloodborne to the way Dark Souls is supposed to be played?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 06:11 PM PST

As I have said in previous posts, I am a Bloodborne Veteran. After at least five hair pulling attempts, I have beaten the game twice over. However, I am finding Dark Souls to be a different animal and I'm painfully almost right back to where I was when first started Bloodborne. Although, I do admit that the very beginning of Dark Souls, The Undead Asylum, is way easier than Bloodborne's beginning of Central Yharnam. However, unlike Bloodborne, gravity wasn't always such a jerk, if you know what I mean...

I am on my third try at Dark Souls (I have also tried different classes: knight, warrior, then the more jumpy wanderer) after starting over whenever I feel that I screwed myself over (like finding that, like insight, you need humanity to summon, but unlike insight, you can lose humanity when you die) and I'm currently on after defeating Taurus Demon (Annoying part is when the freaking thing gets in the way of the camera when running back and forth doing the Jump Attack Strategy). From my previous attempt I already found the Undead Parish barn fire thanks to a viewer of my livestream and the shortcut back to the Shrine.

Anyway, any tips and things I should know to help adapt to the slower way of the Skeleton compared to the quicker and faster way of the Hunter?

    Is duping still soft-bannable? (DSR)

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 02:18 PM PST

Hey, all. I've recently succeeded in learning how to dupe boss souls. I have no intention of playing online but would like to see how PvE is after duping. I've played a lot of DS 2 & 3 on PC and the soft ban system seemed fairly competent, but now I'm playing on Switch and I really want to know if I should go through with this.

    I’m done

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 04:32 PM PST

I've been on O&S for at least a month with no progress. Tirelessly, I have tried for hours a day with a million different strategies but to no avail. I used to have fun with the fight, but now I actually hate it. I groan at the thought of having to get on and try to beat them. If you guys don't mind, I have a few gripes to get off of my chest with this fight

1: Ornstein can attack through Smough. And with no repercussions. Smough doesn't get hurt, and that is super unfair when I do get hurt by Ornstein's attack.

2: Ornsteins speed is unbearable. I have a tendency to lock on to targets because the weapon I have has a pretty big wind up. But because Ornstein is so fast, he zips around the arena and attacks me from behind.

3: This is a smaller one, but when Ornstein shoots a lighting bolt, even if it goes over me as I'm rolling, it hits me, taking enough health to require estus.

4: If I get knocked down, they can get consecutive hits on me, sometimes taking me out entirely.

Looking back, it is mainly Ornstein I'm irritated with, but him combined with a very heavy hitter (Smough), it gets to be very overwhelming. I have already made a post on here about this and I have taken your advice, but nothings working. I even defeated Priscilla and the gaping dragon, just to give myself a cool down. I don't know where to go from here.
