Parry dagger with INT/FTH is incredibly OP why does no one talk about it Posted: 07 Nov 2019 07:21 PM PST The set-up: sorcerer has the lowest STR possible at 9 and we leave it there then DEX 45 for cast speed and max scaling INT/FTH is 50 (player choice) with either Logans catalyst, or ivory talisman (not TCC or darkmoon talisman because they're harder to deal with for various reasons but are infact better) you apply either crystal or sunlight blade to a +15 Parry dagger for a whopping 997/1092 respectively when paired with RTSR and powerwithin All this coupled with an attack speed of 2swings per second onehanded and you're dealing 2k damage a second before defenses are calculated The Parry dagger also has the lowest stamina cost so you can swing 8 times with just 9 end (I'm also wearing RoFaP) so that's 8k damage in just 4 seconds (before defenses) The only down side I see is the range of the dagger but who cares frankly with how fast you put the pain down Furthermore "bellowing dragoncrest ring" has no effect here nor does "ring of the sun's firstborne" so that frees you up to use RoFaP and cloranthy ring along with the crest shield and mask of the child to swing for days and days Pump the rest of your points END and HP to become unstoppable All this to ask the question... Why does no one talk about the glorious Parry dagger/buff combo Edit it only weighs .5 so you could make giant dads firstborne aka "giant baby", "big baby", "giant child", the name is a work in progress [link] [comments] |
[Theory] Sen is the iron golem Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:37 AM PST This has been bothering me for a long time: Who is sen? After doing some research it is said that "Special beings have special souls" So it would only make sense that Sen has a special soul, he has this house of fuckery and bullshit and has the only way to access anor londo, so why isn't he guarding his own fortress? Then i remembered: The iron golem has a special soul. Why would a simple giant suit of armor who we barely know anything about have a special soul, and why is it's soul named "CORE of iron golem"? My theory is that Sen was an ally of Seath, as we know Seath was trying to find a way for immortality, and Sen was there to help him, they both did experiments until Sen created a vessel for himself, a vessel covered with the strongest of metals, and then he transferred his soul into the vessel, leaving his original body for his new one, to try and achieve immortality. New challenge run idea my friend and I started while we were high: Two Heads are better than One Posted: 07 Nov 2019 11:01 PM PST So basically, you and a buddy of your choosing take turns sharing one character. Every time one of you dies, it's the other player's turn. The catch is that you and your buddy are limited to leveling up 2 stats each throughout the run, and you can only level up your chosen stats during your turn. So if you chose Endurance and Dexterity as your stats, and you last longer than your partner, you'll have to decide whether to spend all your souls on Endurance and Dexterity, or ration out the level ups so that shit doesn't get too expensive when your partner takes over. This dynamic forces you and your partner to be cooperative and agree on what kind of build you want. You can also be dicks to each other by choosing really weird stats that morph and warp into janky builds due to poor stat spread. Your current goals and objectives can also shift on a dime if you don't like the direction your partner is headed. It's even more tense if you're both high because you're both more susceptible to making stupid or unpredictable decisions that force the other player to adapt. So, for instance, after starting with the Deprived Class + the Masterkey, my partner chose Strength and Resistance to level up after I chose Endurance and Attunement. Now neither of us can level up Vitality, Dexterity, Faith, or Intelligence. I'm also stuck leveling up Endurance and Attunement during my turn while my partner's stuck leveling up Strength and Resistance during his turn. This severely limits our weapon choices while forcing us to conjure up weird battle tactics and strategies we wouldn't normally use. Our combined decisions have forced us to upgrade our starting club to +5, kill Lautrec early for the FaP Ring, become a pyromancer, and rely on the Dragon Crest Shield as our main shield. Our inebriated states also made us have a hard time with the Bell Gargoyles, waste Gold Pine Resin on Havel, and make rookie mistakes. You can impose more limitations if you want, but that's the core idea. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Nov 2019 10:41 PM PST I just started up a new file with the specific goal that I am not allowed to use any weapons except my fists, a shield and whips. I thought it would be difficult due to the whip's moveset and damage output. I was wrong, Bois. Since you have to go to Blighttown to get a whip anyway, I went ahead and grabbed the large souls from there and took the back way to Andre. Got the weapon to plus five and leveled up my dex to 22. Let me tell you now, it dies a hundred base damage, about 50 more from scaling, and if you but on any kind of buff it basically doubles. I'm yet to yest it on an actual boss that isn't Capra, but I'll let you guys know how it goes. Also, if someone knows which whip is best please leave a comment. [link] [comments] |

Share a moment in the series that gave you pause Posted: 07 Nov 2019 06:49 PM PST You offer the souls of the ancient Lords in a strange ritual in the pit of Lordran, and the door leading to the kiln if the first flame opens. The developers really didn't have to do anything special here. You could just open the door to a room with Gwyn in it and it would have worked just fine, and all would have been fun and great. You open the door, and an ethereal causeway made of light lies before you. I took a few cautious steps inside, only to see... Black knights? Several of them, stalking this strange Hall betwixt? Yes, but upon closer inspection, these knights are not like the other wandering wardens of the old royalty. These have long since worn themselves to whispers of their former selves. There is no danger here, only loss. What first aroused caution, upon reflection, instead aroused sorrow and pity. They search for their King, the poor fools. They see nothing but the path before them, and know nothing but the old Kings orders, "Forward!" You are as much a ghost to them, as they are to you. You pass them as you descend the stair, and look back just to see if it's all real. And so they wander, and so it goes. The whole thing gave me Goosebumps, and I remember just sitting with my mouth open for a minute or two, and thinking "Man, what a spectacular thing this is." There are a hundred more throughout the series, but I want to hear yours. What moments gave you pause? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2019 02:48 AM PST countless time in dark souls related videos i hear ( dark souls rewards the curious player). so while i was playing i noticed there was a corridor that i never went through, it had A SHIT TON OF ENEMIES and one big mage dude, so i said hmm, if its that hard to get there then it must be something good right ?,, right ??? maybe a shortcut or a weapon of some sort ? or a cool npc or something ? anything ? so after countless attempts of sprinting naked through hords of undead i found out that uhh, its nothing . there isnt anything . wow thanks very cool 👌👌 [link] [comments] |

About the Humans, the Covenant of Artorias and the Abyss Posted: 08 Nov 2019 02:02 AM PST Why do we need the Covenant of Artorias to enter the Abyss? As the Chosen Undead is human, shouldn't they be okay in the Abyss and even find comfort in it? You'd think that, no, as the Chosen Undead might've become untuned to the Abyss. Easy as that. But then AotA comes into play. Why didn't we become corrupted when we fought Manus, like Artorias? Why were we able to traverse the Chasm of the Abyss? One of my theories is that the Chosen Undead could've been a human and alive during AotA and might've had some connection to the Abyss and THAT had in some way affected the Chosen Undead when they got dragged into Oolacile. But with time (the human "Chosen Undead") had gotten themselves into the Northern Undead Asylum. And in the Asylum became untuned to the Abyss after not having any contact with it. But that brings up the question, how old is the Chosen Undead? I believe that they could be as old as the Undead Curse itself, or even older. What has the Chosen Undead witnessed that they had forgotten, due to being locked up in the Asylum? Or were they one of the first people to get locked up? I doubt it as their gear doesn't look like it is in that bad of a shape and I bet they would've gone completely Hollow, just because they would've been there for so long had they been one of the first to get locked up. Or is this all explained somewhere and I've completely missed it all? I'd like to hear your take on why the chosen undead isn't able to traverse the Abyss without the Covenant of Artorias. But can traverse the Chasm of the Abyss and fight Manus just fine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2019 01:33 AM PST this is my first playthrough so be easy on me, first of all, does armor/ clothing matter ? does it give you some buffs or sth, i started as a sorcerer and im trying to make a melee/magic class so im using a shield, which slowed me down so i had to go naked so i can play better. does this make a difference ? second there is this big gate with a thick dude besides it going (MHMM) , is there some item that opens the gate that missed or is this a late game thing ? also his armor looks kinda funny can i kill him and get it or is he an important character to the story ? also, can everything be backstabbed ? are there some enemies that are immune to backstabbing or am i doing something wrong, cause sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt i managed to get to an area full of angry vegans, am i too early ? i feel like i missed something and im unprepared, or maybe im just spooked by the area and how it looks [link] [comments] |
The Way I Finally Beat Gwyn in SL1 Posted: 07 Nov 2019 09:44 PM PST Hey y'all, finally beat Gwyn after many, many tries in SL1 (never learned to parry him normally so I was screwed with dying in 1-2 hits). Thought I'd post this in case it helped anyone. Basically, I used a +15 Reinforced Club with Charcoal Pine Resin and a green blossom, the FAP ring + RTSR, every two hits would stagger him and I made sure not to stand in front of him or he'd quick swipe and insta-kill me. After many setups and different weapons/magic etc., this is what worked best. Hope it helps! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Nov 2019 03:10 PM PST Wanted to give ds1 another try, huge fan of 2 and also play alot of 3, especialy since the 360controller has gone haywire on the analogue sticks. But i tried it anyways clunky souls sure but no problems, till i bought a club at undead burg merchant, and tried out the moveset on the terrace nearby. This was when i hit r2, big jumping attack as my lazy analog stick apparently directed it to the npc, and now i have a katana haha. First time ive ever agroed and npc unintentionaly in a souls game lol. .... But i diddnt buy the repair kit yet, and doesnt the merchant sell the bottomless box? .....question being should i restart the game or carry on? I dont recal if durability was in issue in ds1 (kinda wasnt in ds2) im not sure if ive started a sin count and il get npc invaded, or if i can deal with a ds1 maldron every half hour haha. .... So anyone have any suggestions other then test weapons more then 12ft from a merchant? [link] [comments] |
Need some help convincing a friend. Posted: 07 Nov 2019 06:39 PM PST So my friend just got Dark Souls 3. It went so far so good, but then he told me that when he gets invaded, he opts to Alt-F4 instead of fighting the invader. How can I convince him to not do that, and to see the fun in invasions? Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this Posted: 07 Nov 2019 01:37 PM PST So I absolutely love Dark Souls, other than WoW it's without a doubt my favorite game of all time but every now and then I'll get really busy with life and not play the game for a few months, and then come back to it. I always get scared that maybe I've lost my touch with the game and forget all the timing and what not and usually struggle through about half of the game... until I get to O&S. I use O&S as like a final exam if to analogize it, I always tell my self don't reverse your hollowing, and don't use summons or shields and see if you can just use your i frames and beat O&S fair and square. (Usually I use NPC summons to get through most of the bosses and I think it's cheating in a sense :P) Most times it'll take me a few attempts and I'll get that old familiar feeling of the game being as hard as it was like when I first started until I finally take them down, and without fail every time I habitually shout out something along the lines of "I STILL GOT IT" or "IM STILL WORTHY" lmao. It's a bit corny I know but that feeling of knowing you can still take down what I consider two of the hardest bosses in the game by yourself is so fulfilling and reminds me of exactly why I fell in love with the game. Everything feels earned. Do you guys have any similar personal stories or experiences like this? [link] [comments] |

How to tell which magic attack manus is using? Posted: 07 Nov 2019 11:01 PM PST I have the silver pandent and I can easily block the dark circle / dark rain attack, but the wave attack is too fast to block (wiki tells me to dodge sideways). I can only tell he's using magic attack with his orb charge but I can't tell which attack he's using. If I dodge the first two attacks, I can't block and die. If I block the wave attack I can't block and got one shot. Is there other ways to know if he's using the 2 blockable attacks or the one that needs dodging? I'm at ng+2 [link] [comments] |
Lost 3,500,000 souls at Sen's Fortress; watch out for vagrant! Posted: 07 Nov 2019 08:42 AM PST While doing NG3+ run I lost 3.5M souls with roughly 40 humanities on hand. So if you see a big, fat, happy vagrant running around Sen's fortress, know that it came from me! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Nov 2019 11:39 AM PST How does dark souls comment on modern society? How did problems at the time it was made influence it? Did Miyazaki intend to make a political statement with it that's relevant today? [link] [comments] |
