/r/DarkSouls2 - Modding Monday. Posted: 17 Nov 2019 10:13 PM PST Welcome to the weekly Dark Souls mod announcement and discussion thread! Beware! Use of mods whilst connected to the internet can cause you to get banned from online play! For more information, or to continue the discussion visit /r/ModSouls Using mods (PC only!) to enhance or add new content to the Souls games is great fun! It is important, however, to understand that mods are against From's EULA/ToS, so there is a great risk of being banned when using them due to From's anti-cheat--which is deployed in most versions of the Souls games. Versions of the games where modding is safe due to no anti-cheat: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Versions of the games where modding carries a very high risk of being banned: Dark Souls: Remastered Dark Souls II Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Dark Souls III Our recommendations for safe modding *This advice is intended for first-time or relatively inexperienced modders who want to get into modding without risking a ban on their main Steam account. Basic Steps: Make a separate Steam account Use Steam's Family Sharing feature to provide your new account with access to your main Steam account's game library. Install games to be used with the new account in a separate directory. Once you've found your mods be sure to read (and follow) the mod author's instructions carefully prior to installation. Set Steam to "off line" mode. Install the mods and perform any necessary setup. Enjoy the fun and interesting experiences offered by mods! When the game first came out... Posted: 18 Nov 2019 05:16 AM PST When Dark Souls 2 first came out I kinda bought into the whole everyone saying it was boring or easy or just a bad game in general and it really shoved me away from it. Recently I was scrolling through YouTube and watched a few recommended videos that had some early on gameplay from scholar of the first sins version. I genuinely thought the game looked fun this time around so I got it the same version on sale on humble bundle for around 9 dollars I believe. I've put in about 5-6 hours so far and honestly this may be one of my favorite souls games ever. The graphics and levels look so amazing, It's not too hard but not too easy, and it still has a nice souls feel to it. I'm genuinely happy I got the game and if your hesitant like I was, look for scholar of the first sin on sale and try it and I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:12 AM PST So I'm doing a bow only run and have gotten to the Lost Sinner. Since fighting the Ruin Sentinels with a bow is as fun as getting your wisdom teeth removed, I took the long away around with No Man's Wharf, so no Bastille Key to light up the place. I also decided to finally fight her on my own for once a while without Lucatiel (although this was also because using the bow in the Flexile Sentry fight still nearly killed her, so the Sinner would've done so no problem). I've fought the Lost Sinner countless times before with co-op, enough to get a decent timing down with her attacks, so while I wasn't flailing around in the dark taking pot shots, my timing isn't perfect. Also, what's important is the brightness for this game on my TV basically has two settings:
I chose the former setting. So not only was I fighting her with a bow, I couldn't see anything, she was literally just a white circle and maybe a faint outline when she walked in front fog gate like the world's shittiest solaire eclipse (pun intended because I'm mad and puns make me feel better). And you know what? I did rather well, at least as well I could do given that I basically had only her fucking footsteps and muscle memory sense of timing to go on. I was out of Lifegems, Estus was too slow, I had her down to a fucking sliver of health, and she killed me with a two swing combo. I want to throw my controller against the wall and smash my console I'm so pissed right now. Thank you for lending an ear to my ramblings. [link] [comments] |
I just beat DS1 and I'm about to buy DS2. Anything I should know before playing? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 05:26 AM PST |
Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:46 AM PST Hello All, long time souls fan, I know 1 and 3 like the back of my hand. 2, not so much. Ive beaten it a few times, but I remember very little. So that said, I just did a poison/bleed build DS3 character and while ok, it was still pretty fun. I don't remember exactly how bleed/poison works in SOTFS, but I really want to run a pure poison character (although im open to similar suggestions). What would yall recommend as far as a full build? Very excited. Thanks yall! [link] [comments] |

Is there any roadblocks in this game? Or how DS2 is different in pacing from other Souls games? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 06:28 AM PST I finished this game twice and I don't really find any roadblocks this game has. Your first roadblock can be either Pursuer or Lost Sinner imo. And I found Pursuer is only a roadblock if you dont have enough adp. Which basically makes this fight pursuer vs your adp more than pursuer vs your skill. Other roadblocks can be Ruin Sentinels or Looking Glass Knight or Velstadt. But between those two fights there are so many easy bosses that it's 75% of the game basically. Sure DLC has good bosses but those are endgame bosses really and it doesn't count as a roadblock since you don't need to kill them in order to finish the game. DS1 and DS3 has very good placed roadblocks imo. Both Uidex Gundyr and Asylum Demon prepares you to the game's pacing and after those fights you will be fine most of the time until Bell Gargoyles and Abyss Watchers but DS2 doesn't even have a tutorial boss which was supposed to prepare the player to the game. They are extremely well placed fights that comes in 1/5 or 1/4 of the game that changes the pacing from there onwards. Everything after Abyss Watchers and Bell Gargoyles becomes more dangerous than ever. Your next roadblocks can be either Pontiff or Dancer in DS3 and famous dynamic duo in DS1 which comes after first half of the both games. DS2 tries to challenge it's players with environment and normal enemies more than any souls game. And DS2 forgets to add anything into the middle that is a real roadblock as a boss. Last bosses of every souls games are made to be challenging but definitely not easy unlike DS2 which has 3 last boss but they become easier in each battle. When Gwyn and SoC puts a real challenge without being extremely hard this game becomes more easier in each final boss. I am not saying DS2's pacing is a bad thing but I don't prefer it. Normal enemies are challenging and nice but I want to have a climax after fighting those enemies which is a boss imo that isn't easy af and makes a bit of change of pacing that makes me better at the game. Only problem with the pacing in other games are from DS3 TRC DLC imo. There is no boss until last part of the DLC after Demon Prince fight which was a disappointment for me when AotA had a perfect pacing with it's bosses like 1 in the begining, 1 in the middle and 1 in the end with a secret dragon boss you can do anytime after beating first boss. I don't really remember DLCs of DS2 so I can't talk about it because I didn't touched them after my first playtrough which was few years ago. [link] [comments] |
Is This A Capra Demon Reference? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:57 AM PST |
Posted: 18 Nov 2019 09:39 AM PST So settle this for me, can you change his inventory to his NG+2 inventory with bonfire ascetics? And if So, which bonfire is it? I've heard people say it's kings bonfire and the mirror knight bonfire and I know it can't be both, thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Spells refilling for seemingly no reason? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:59 AM PST Just started NG+ and I'm at Heide's Tower. I run a lot of sorcery, and as I was going through the area I kept hearing an audio cue play every few minutes. I couldn't tell what it was, until I noticed that each time it played, one cast of each of my spells just kinda? Came back? Anyone know what's causing it? It's not any of my gear as far as I can tell, or at least the gear doesn't advertise any such effect. I'm obviously not bothered by it, but I do want to know what's happening. [link] [comments] |
Wondering what the online scene is like for a 360 player in 2019? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:59 AM PST I just got DS2 SotFS about a month ago and have been enjoying every minute of it. Ive played through it and DS1 now multiple times, and I was wondering if there are still any active xbox 360 players still? My current build is ~sl240 and soul memory about 8mil. I'd be willing to make a new character tho if lower levels are more active. Tldr; Paid online sucks so I want to know if 360 scene is still active and worth it? Edit: spelling [link] [comments] |
Question about a key I’m trying to find Posted: 18 Nov 2019 12:54 AM PST So I have Scholar of the first Sin and am trying to fight the Lost Sinner and looked up in the wiki that if you get this key, it'll help you light up the room which slows down and you can keep lock on him/her(?). I read that you get it from the gargoyle OR if you have the dlc, it is found on a "broken bridge" near a bonfire on the tower before you head down to the Sinner. So I dont know if there something wrong but I'm not finding it anywhere on any bridge near my location, I see nothing glowing, no chests, nothing. Not to mention the fact that it's Dark Souls and most structures are damaged in one way or another so a "broken bridge" is not very specific. Am I missing something or am I just supposed to fight the gargoyle for the key anyway? [link] [comments] |
No dark souls 2 themes in the top 10 boss themes video by the thedemodcracy Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:17 AM PST Kinda sucks that zero songs from dark souls 2 were in the community voted top 10. Sir Alonnes theme is easily one of the best songs if not the best song in the dark souls trilogy. (Bloodborne songs are god tier tho). Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Black Witch Domino Mask fashion.... Posted: 18 Nov 2019 07:36 AM PST Got it from the first dual avelyn phantom kill in belfry sol bonfire level 1. I don't think I've ever been that lucky in this game before. That said, the only decent fashion I can muster up for this thing is retainer's robe. The brightest white robes are still duller than the mask itself, and also look silly. The robes in this game are generally terrible. Character is male so the exposed shoulders of the black robe look weird, and the witch robe looks weird too. Edit: This is what I'm rockin right now, I like it okay. Pants and gloves seem off though. Replaying Dark Souls 2 Since 2014 Looking for Fun Mage Builds Posted: 17 Nov 2019 07:51 PM PST All my dark souls playthroughs have been melee focused so with Dark Souls 2, I'm looking for a fun mage build, any one have any suggestions and guides including how to start in the early stages. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
So I lost 130+ hours of grinding... Posted: 17 Nov 2019 04:33 PM PST Yeah, my hard drive got fucked and I had to replace it. Had over 130 hours, a soul memory of 2.1m, and had lit all 4 primal bonfires. Kinda fucking sad tbh, so I'm prolly going to take a break and play something else for a little bit. This hurts a lot more than that 18k souls I lost on like my third day... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Nov 2019 09:21 PM PST I'm pretty new to ds 2 but I'm thinking I'd doing a dex build. What weapons should I be on the look out for? [link] [comments] |
Whipping Vendrick's butt with Old Whip, infusion or not? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 12:07 AM PST I've understood Old Whip is one of the better weapons against Vendrick, and that he should also be vulnerable to bleed. I've never really used bleed infusions before, would the whip in this case be better with it than without? (40 dex at the moment, should I also get more of that?) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2019 05:43 AM PST Well what do I level on Knight, Im fairly new to the game so Im asking Reddit Gods to guide me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Nov 2019 04:19 PM PST A lot of people slam the ADP stat saying that it isn't necessary but I like it. I think it helps level the playing field a bit for players that choose to spec into a tank rather than being super nimble. My souls knowledge is incomplete seeing as I haven't actually finished 1 or 3 but I feel like 2 really gives you the most variety in builds and I think introducing ADP as a stat helped make that happen. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
