Scholar of the first sin won't run in fullscreen, also runs in very shitty resolution

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:20 AM PST

I tried everything that helped others who had this problem.

I set the launch options on steam to 60hz, I set the window to open with x= -13 and y= -33, I tried to press alt+enter but it only made the window way too big, I tried to press F11 but it did nothing, I tried everything.

It only worked once after I did some weird combination of these steps, and never worked again. However, even that one time, the resolution was so bad even though it said it was 1920x1080 in the settings. It looked like a game on low settings from the late 2000s.

I can't even refund the game since I bought it on the halloween sale along with other games and didn't TRY to play it until today. Should I just get the original version? The money I spent on this one is wasted, apparently.

    A theory about Dark Magic

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:31 PM PST

Is it possible that Dark Magic became a thing in DS2/3 due to the Chosen Undead venturing into the Abyss and then coming back to the present?

Just finished my first no death run!

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:07 PM PST

16 hours into my 7th attempt. Some close calls, nashandra almost got me twice, got caught in the straight dark lazer beam and then panic spammed the last few hits but 50 vig saved me.

Feels good to be a conquerer!

Things I didn't find on my first playthrough [spoilers]

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 03:46 PM PST

Hello my foine skeletons. I've been playing ds2 for 3 years and surprisingly I'm still discovering stuff I didn't know before, within the game. I was moseying through drangleic castle, usual shizzle: getting spear fucked by the stone soldiers, leaving the 3 syan knights stuck to the floor like old bubblegum with the chicken drumstick, when I descended the ladders for the hunters black bow (in base game not sure if they changed the loot for that chest in softs) and saw a message on the floor. Illusion ahead. Sure enough the wall parted to reveal a bonfire. I was like holy shit. It makes the run to the dragonriders SO much easier. Theyre not so bad on new game but on subsequent playthroughs they can be a pain in the arse.

Here are some other things I found recently:

The Helix halberd in shrine of Amana . After the second bonfire kill the first mage firing soul arrows at you... Keep left to the wall and you'll find a pharros lockstone face beneath the water.

The ruin sentinels behind the soul doors in drangleic castle will drop their armour set. The drop rate is extremely low.

You can get the drangleic armour set and sword by dropping off a ledge. Its the area after the first pursuer encounter. Didn't know this until I accidentally dropped to my "death" only to find myself alive and that I'm an extremely unobservant individual.

The painted guardian set and weapon can be obtained from a black phantom in Aldias keep, behind a painting you need to knock off with a weapon. Again difficult to get as drop rate is low and most likely will need to use bonfire ascetic.

You can get the grand Lance in the base game in the Orro memory. There's a wooden contraption that needs to be hit to knock down. The player than has to jump down on to the lowered platform and then (<_>) you need to jump from the platform through a hole in the wall. Be ready though because theres a giant inside ready to Fuck your platforming arse up.

The trees with faces in the shaded woods area can be hit to attract the invisible bois.

you can use a torch to make the Amazing invisible men more visible: it allows you to see their shadow. Also you can use profound still to leave an aura around them AND if you have the priestess eye from the ivory king dlc they become visible.

Profound still can be used on most magic using bosses. Including aava, prowling Magus (as if this fight couldn't get any easier, profound still makes this fight even more of a joke) and darklurker, to name a few.

And I'm sure theres a whole lot more. Let me know what else I've missed :)

    Co-op with friends?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:16 PM PST

Is there a reliable method to summon friends like passwords?

The last time I played 2 was whenever it first came out on 360 offline. Right now a friend and I are playing through 1 together smacking down bosses and dying together having a blast. We want a third friend to play with us, but he's very story oriented, and friend 1 is ready to be done with DSR and move on. My thoughts were that DS2 stands alone well enough as a story that the three of us should play that together.

I own all three but... I have to finish one game at a time. I can't swap between games well.

I also was under the impression (from my experience) that DS2 was more challenging on an individual mob basis, but forgiving with the set number of respawns. I think it will be a good introduction to friend 2 into Souls, but friend 2 has limited funds.

Tl:dr is it at all reasonably easy to connect with a specific player in DS2?

    Advice for a new player?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:18 AM PST

Hey everyone, I'm about to get started on this game, and would love to hear some tips!

Background: my first From game was DS3. I played through it as a cowardly pyromancer, i.e. fighting small enemies with a sword, but just running and throwing fire orbs at anything bigger. It got me through the game, but didn't feel very awesome. But since I fell in love with the awesome way they present lore and design their levels, I moved on to another From game, Bloodborne. Here I decided to adjust to the aggressive play style that that game demands, got good at parrying and fighting up close and personal, sword only. Loved it. My main question is, is that a viable play style for DS2? No shield, just hacking things to pieces and dodging? Is there any parrying mechanic?

Also, any other essential tips would be appreciated. I already know about adaptability and how it affects dodging, so I'm prepared for that. Anything else? I'm on PC, so mods are an option, but only if they fix something (or make it prettier), I want to keep it as pure as possible.

Thanks in advance to anyone with the patience to read this and answer!

    3 Faith build questions

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:36 AM PST

    1) i've noticed scaling in this game doesn't add much, so far i have 30 faith and 30 attunement (no adaptability) and enough str/dex to run a heide spear and zweihander, where should i take my stats next? (i'm lvl95 at iron keep)

    2) is my faith alone enough to make fire infusion good enough on my weapons? I need to have another type of damage (besides lightning on my heide spear, rapier and bandit axe.

I currently have a leveled zweihander and mace without infusion, should i infuse fire or keep them physical?

    3) is there anyway to aquire boltstones without having to abandon my sun covenant to buy from targray? Because i already started offering medals to the statue.

    I need some help...

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:41 AM PST

I recently got Dark Souls 2 for the Xbox 360 from a local game store. I've had a blast playing it so far, but every time I reach Heide's Tower of Flame, none of the enemies are there, and if I open up the game later, it just stays stuck on the loading screen. Is there anything I can do?

    Blue flame help

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 06:38 AM PST

Hi, i plan to do a Blue Flame + Disc Chime build, and as always im wondering how to build my blue flame. With 75/75 Int/Fth how should i build my blue flame? Magic+5 with the occasional GMW infusion (because i hate CMW look) or Raw+5 wity the occasional Aromatic Ooze infuse? I can reach 99/99 pretry quick farming the Giant King if that's not enough stats, but thats why i ask about the infusion, Raw scales D intelligence and Magic scales B intelligence. So... I dont know what to do.

    New enemy spawns

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:14 AM PST

It's been about a year since I played, but I've encountered a ton of new enemy spawns in the first few areas (I.E. instead of silver knight in starting area there's another ogre) , is this the same throughout the game? When was this changed?

    Lost Sinner NG+

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 08:55 PM PST

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has any tips for beating the Lost Sinner on NG+? I used an ascetic on my normal NG run because I really wanted Flame Weapon, but the two red phantoms inside the arena are kicking my ass. Do I just need to git gud at fighting multiple opponents, or is there a secret to it? I'm around level 100.

XBOX1 if anyone is interested or needs a phantom buddy to assist them

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:09 PM PST

Hey guys, just started playing DS2 again and was wondering if anyone wanted to be phantom buddies and help eachother out, I'm on my first playthrough and beat the lost sinner, if you guys want you can add me on ShtormMaBuns and we'll do some work together. I'm doing a dex build so I'd be happy to give you any loot relevant to your build too, even boss souls if you need them for a weapon. Cheers! _^
