Accidentally hit Andre and Oswald. How screwed am I?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:29 AM PST

I took a break from dark souls for a while and got used to clicking the mouse to skip dialogue. Hit Andre and he went aggro . Went to Oswald to receive absolution and hit him too, killed him this time. As much as it hurts to have betrayed Andre, how screwed am I in the later stages of the game? I have a +10 claymore and a +9 zwei. I have yet to complete new londo and lost izalith.

    I did it.

After 79 hours. I finally linked the flame and completed this masterpiece.

It one of the best games I ever played and it was a rollercoaster of emotions. Every place was so beautiful and great, that I loved all of them.

    10/10 game, thank you, Miyazaki.

Edit: Woah, I didn't expect the post to blow up- Thanks so much guys!

Can we stop what we are doing and appreciate the design of Darkroot Garden/Basin

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:55 PM PST

I really love that area. First time entering there I was like I am in a legend but that's probably because I played DS1 after DS3 and everything in DS1 seemed like long lost legends of DS3 world and it was fascinating.

And Darkroot Garden is probably my favorite forest area in any Dark Souls games. In DS3 there is Road of Sacrifices but one road leads to Cathedral of the Deep which is pretty good and other road leads to Farron Keep which is pretty meh imo. In DS2 forest area is pretty much full of ghosts and you can't lock on into them which sucks if you are playing as a caster or archer and it's not that visually appealing imo.

What differentiates Darkroot Garden from other forests imo is enemy designs and artistic design generally. Light especially used perfectly imo. You really can't see your ahead with ease too which makes a nice pacing for a first timer imo. And enemy designs were perfect. That stone golems are only in this part of the game and it's entirely optional and that's one of the reasons why I really like FromSoft games. They always add some of the best contents without really needing to force players into playing them or making them mandatory. Enemies were hiding as bushes, stone golems can slow your movement speed, lizards hiding in trees. Everything is perfect in this area and I really want bigger forests like these in Elden Ring. Even if DS games are mediaval inspired there isn't many forest or nature areas and after seeing buildings so much it feels like a fresh new air.

Why do I keep going back to a greatsword build every time?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:07 PM PST

In Bloodborne I used the Kirk hammer, and in DS3 I used the Onyx Blade, and in DS2 I used the mastodon sword. Now I'm a few hours in and I'm already defaulting to the Black Knight sword that dropped. What are some other decent weapons to use? I'm trying to expand my play style lol. Just reached Blighttown btw

    Dear Friend...

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:49 AM PST

A phantom by the name of Sjuske90 (or like that). I'm sorry for being an idiot. You distracted Ornstein so I could Kill Smough. I could see you out the corner of my eye and you were incredible. You kept Mega Ornstein's attention so i could fireball and swing at him. However i got over confident and tried a big 2handed strike and i got killed.

I failed you when you stepped up to aid me and for that i am truly sorry.

Black Knight Greatsword or Dragon Greatsword?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:26 AM PST

Was running around with the Dragon Greatsword for a bit, but by chance a Black Knight Greatsword dropped as I was passing one by, is it worth using over it?

    Question about weight

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:50 AM PST

So the fextralife wiki says that their are tiers under 25% "The other speed ranges are from 0.1% to 8.3%, 8.4% to 16.6%, and 16.7% to 25%." But it doesn't clarify what the difference is, only that the lighter ones are faster. Could I have some clarification if anyone knows?

Why should I continue? I have heard great things about the series but I am very frustrated. Need motivation.

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:01 PM PST

I played Sekiro and absolutely loved it. I played that game again and again until it was 100% completed, and still wanted more. So, I picked up Dark Souls Remastered.

And I am struggling. I feel so slow and every single time I die I find myself frustrated or irritated at something rather than enjoying the game.

I refuse to do the multiplayer stuff at all, I don't want to work with anyone, I want a solely singleplayer experience. Thus far, I have cleared Anor Londo and pushed through Duke's Archives. Nothing has caused me too much trouble, certainly no more than 3-4 deaths at any particular boss or section (except that fucking narrow walkway in Anor Londo with the two archers).

Now I am at the Crystal Cave and after having gotten stuck in an area where I repeatedly died after retrieving my souls and then sliding off an edge which seemed solid, I am beyond frustrated. I keep falling off or sliding off and it takes so long to get anywhere that I just can't handle it.

I need motivation at this point. Why should I continue in Dark Souls Remastered? I have heard several times that Ornstein and Smaugh is the best boss anyways. Is there any real enjoyment left? It seems like this game is just a bit too clunky for me to enjoy but maybe I am missing something.

On the fence on getting into dark souls after bloodborne

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:36 PM PST

So i played my first souls game in bloodborne and i loved it. Now after playing death stranding i really want to get back on an rpg to be lost in for the winter time. Do you think its a good idea to get into Dark Souls now after playing BB or will it frustrate me more than enjoy it? Also can you make a build without the use of the shield through out the series? Thanks in advance.

I completed NG7 I feel like it was super hard at first then extremely easy by the end

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:52 PM PST

For the longest time I have been able to kill Gwyn 1 time per character but never being able to make to the end of the second run.

I eventually decided to cheese the game and run Giants armor with antiquated crown and bellowing dragoncrest ring and Manus catalyst blasting dark bead for bosses and the Zwei for mob enemies

This made the game extremely trivial honestly, if it didn't take so damn long to get to NG7 I'd go back through again with a more "honorable" character but I decided as long as I'm having fun it doesn't matter

    My stats were very high by the end at SL 219 starting with a bandit Vit40 Att19 End40 Str46 Dex45 Res10 Int50 Fth50

    DSR spear ranking (my opinion)

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:54 PM PST

What are the Spears that did the task best? Hmm... Today I'm going to do a spear ranking from worst to best.

    Here are the rules:

    1-this is my personal opinion:

if you are upset if the spear is lower or higher, that's ok mainly because it's your play style if your good or bad with Spears.

    2-mostly pve based:

I don't use Spears that much in pvp so I'm going to mostly focus on pve instead.

    And

    3-spears that are including:

I will include boss Spears (ex:dragon Slayer spear and butterfly horn) and I'm also going to include dlc spear (four-pronged plow)

After the rules out of the way let's do the count down!

    10-channeler's Trident (CT):

before some of you roast me to the comments section let me explain. I found out this spear to be a cool idea. A spear that can buff other summoners/Allie's is awesome. But here's the problem. I was never really a big fan of the CT in the first place, use the butterfly horn if you can ask me. The spear has shorter reach, has lower magic damage, and requires more INT of 24 for the CT. Not only by that, the way to get it was frustrating. You can get it by the channelers mostly in dukes archive. But it has a low percent chance to get it,and since the channelers are extremely anoying to kill by there teleportation, magic and buffing them selves is the main reason why this spear gets there.

    9-four-pronged plow (FPP):

This spears special moveset is fun to use. You can charge and flop down Wich I found out to be unique. However the amount of damage for the FPP doesn't make up for it. It deals lower damage than a normal spear, and has the same scaling Wich makes it an underpowered weapon. So why is it not on last place? It does have a fun moveset and requires no points of INT. But that's all about it :(

    8-spear

This is an ok weapon to use in general. The spear deals a decent amount of damage, deals poise damage, and also has good reach. But to keep in mind this is from other spears to. When comparing a plan ol' spear and other spears in the game, the spear was far inferior. Mainly because of how weak it is for a predictable weapon. If you are dealing with bosses, it's possible to kill them with it. But it will take you a little while. Not much else to say about it so let's move on.

    7-partizan

The main reason why I put the partizan higher than the regular spear is it's sweeping heavy attack. This attack is useful when your dealing with multiple enemies and bosses with skinny hitzones like the iron golems legs or sifs fore and hind limbs. That said, the spear is still weak compare to most spears In the game having the same damage and scaling as the regular spear. Nuff said.

    6-moon light butterfly horn(MLBH):

the butterfly horn IMO is a better alternative to the Trident and here's why. It has more reach, more magic, and easier to get. It also has less INT requirement than the CT only by 14 INT. It's a good low int spear that is decent for taking down bosses and enemies that are weak to magic. However the spear is limited. It only deals magic damage just like the moonlight great sword. So it's decent overall👍

    5-winged spear

Now where at the good category the first one we got is the spear that is in since demon souls. This spear is actually good compare to a regular spear having more damage, good for buffing, and you can find it easier just by escaping undead asylum. The only bad thing about this spear is I prefer other spears that are higher than this one. That said I got a good experience using the winged spear.

    4-dragon Slayer spear(DSS):

This spear is good for faith builders who like to use lightning against bosses that are weak to it. The DSS has the ability to shoot out a spark for one hand and heavy thrust then the upper swipe for two handed. It's a fun and powerful weapon to use. However it got two problems with the spear. First its a downgrade to the demon's spear having lower base stats and shorter reach. The thing that the DSS stands out is the scaling. This spear has a good amount of scaling with B scaling of DEX,and B scaling of FAITH for the lighting boost. But like I said,it has lower overall base stats than the demon's spear.

    🥉-pike

The pike is one of the least appreciated weapons in the game. Mainly because players doesn't use that much from nowadays. But still this is a S tier for me. It has one of the highest reach in the game, has good scaling and packs a real punch with it's long charging attack. When execute the charging attack you can hit enemies and Bosses multiple times. This is my go to when I went to pvp with this. Charging to other players is so damn satisfying. Overall this spear is good for pvp and pve.

    🥈-silver knight spear:

This is yet another weapon I use in pvp. Even tho it got E scailing of STR unlike other spears. It's reach, moveset and damage makes up for it. I was always having a fun time using this weapon to Pierce players out of their existence. This is one of the most popular spears in the game for a good amount of players using it. However there's only one spear that has the 👑.

    🥇👑-demon's spear:

This is pretty much self explanatory. The main reason why the demon spear gets to the number one spot for a good reason. It has the highest reach, good scailing, higher damage to lighting rational than the DSS that I mention at number 4,and it was a great weapon for PvP. The reach of this weapon is insane. It can chip players health away by simply staying out of there weapon reach, can deal alot of damage against them since most builds are weak to lightning, and it's anoying to when players are using it. I'm serious when I see a player using it this will be game over for me since I don't use lightning sheld that much. To top it all off, this weapon can be obtained by simply go to Sheiva the east or kill the bat wing demon's. Overall this is a stupid weapon to use and I hope some day fromsoft will return to dark souls remastered and Nerf this thing.

I hope you enjoy my ranking. If you like my opinion, let me know in the comments. And what's your favorite spear in dark souls remastered. See you next time!

    Jack of all magic...

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:32 PM PST

Master of none. I've been playing around with a build that focus on all three elements; Pyromancy, Sorcery, and Miracles. Does anyone have any suggestions on which attunements I should take? I've been leveling mostly Intelligence and using Velka's Talisman. I have 24 Faith right now and plan to get my Intelligence to 50, as well as upgrading my Flame to Max. Followed by taking attunement to from 34 to 50. Should I invest in more faith for buffs and Great Lightning Spear?
