I'm working on recreating Artorias's grave in Lego and have been toying around with some different ideas. Here are some of the various concept renders I've put together so far. It's still very much a work in progress, but once I settle on something that I think is good enough, I will get the parts and build it. I'll post that once finished - it'll be a while though.

    Feedback is appreciated!

even sticking to the recommended SL and not over-leveling my weapons, I was summoned once for bell gargoyles in ~1hr, and once for quelaag in about 45 min.

and here I was hoping to become a sunbro, and subsequently farm sunlight medals

even edited my network settings to be unrestricted visibility and global

We all love dark souls clearly, everyone likes all different games more than other but what if I told you I was putting together a game called blood souls? It currently has every weapon from demon souls, dark souls 1! Dark souls 2 and even bloodborne and demon souls. https://youtu.be/-lKDY70ScJA

Dark souls 1 combat is not bad. I know its not ds3 or bloodborne or even dark souls 2 combat system but it fits the gameplay of dark souls. I hate when people say if fir example one thing is good that means the other thing is bad. No. Both can be good

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 05:14 AM PDT

It's not all about dodging. Blocking in Ds1 is very effective. Poise has a actually meaning in the game. Light weapons and heavy weapons are equally as strong. Miracles are viable. Bleed is useful etc

    F the Four Kings NG+

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 09:07 PM PDT

So I've acquired all the trophies for DS 2, 3, and Bloodborne, but I've never gotten all trophies for Dark Souls. I've been feeling the itch and so instead of going back to Yarnham, I decided to delve back into DS:Remastered and get the last 30% of trophies I needed.

Most have been a piece of cake, I even killed Super Ornstein for the first time ever, and by myself, so I've been feeling pretty damn good. I'm at 85% and, really, the biggest time investment is going to be finishing the game a second time, and then fighting my way back to the Giant Blacksmith to get that last rare weapon.

Now, however, I've hit a wall with the fucking Four Kings. I've never liked the Four Kings, they've always given me trouble. And now, after about an hour of hitting my head against the wall, I'm ready to say fuck it for another couple years and maybe eventually come back to these assholes.

I'm level 120ish, carrying a lightning zweihander +5, using light magic armor, and I just tried the Power Within thing, but I just couldn't seem to connect with the fucker and he wiped me out. I'm torn between using heavy armor and tanking (Havel's and Havel's Shield +5) or running in and trying to be quick. Also, I can't seem to strife correctly, because my guy's always swinging. Any tips? I hate the long run to the boss and I've done this before (I've finished this game so many times, I've even killed these turds on NG+ on original DS), but I feel like I'm currently hitting my head against the wall.

I've also heard not to summon in Beatrice, so I haven't even tried that. Thoughts? Help for a poor skeleton?

Original Knight .dcx files for Remastered?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 12:06 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

So in an attempt to mess with retexturing, I replaced the knight set with the fluted knight set, and I overwrote the knight set's files. Can anyone upload and send me a link to the parts? Below are the files I need. They're in the "parts" folder of your Dark Souls Remastered folder

The Highs and Lows of my First Dark Souls Playthrough

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 07:19 AM PDT

I actually beat Dark Souls! I would not describe myself as a "skilled gamer" by any stretch but I've always been fascinated by Dark Souls and how highly regarded it is. When I found a copy of the Remastered version on sale I figured I might as well give it a shot.

    Highs

Difficulty - People always talk about how difficult this game is and going in I wasn't sure I would even be able to beat it. I did think the game was difficult, but I think it's difficult in terms of knowledge rather than dexterity. I never felt like I lacked the gameplay skill to beat a boss. Instead, I always felt like I needed to play smarter to beat a boss. This means that you don't need to "git gud" to beat the game, you need to "git patient and be willing to try different strategies". (There is one exception to this that I'll talk about in the lows)

Moment-to-Moment Gameplay - This game is just satisfying to play. The act of circling an enemy, waiting for an opening, and getting a backstab remains fun all the way through the end of the game.

Atmosphere - Everything in this game combines to form one overarching theme - it does not want you to win. The world of Dark Souls is not a nice place and if you want to see that 'Victory Achieved' message, you need to fight for it. That makes beating the game all the sweeter. I'm normally in favor of easy modes in games, but I can't help but feel that making the enemies easier would take something away from the atmosphere.

Interconnected World - It's so impressive how interwoven the world is in the first half of the game. It's neat seeing how you can get from Undead Parish back to Firelink Shrine or how the Moonlight Garden connects to Blighttown through the Valley of the Drakes. It's telling how you don't get the ability to warp until half-way through, but you also don't really need it until then.

Soapstone Messages - Like a lot of players, I entered the Catacombs way too early. I managed to make it to the first bonfire but kept getting destroyed by skeletons. I found a soapstone message near the bonfire that said "I can't take it anymore" and I just nodded and thought "Me either buddy". Luckily I was able to make it out once I learned that I didn't need to be in the Catacombs yet, but that moment of solidarity stuck with me even after I beat the game.

Weapon Diversity - Early on in the game, I swapped out my longsword for an axe because the axe had higher attack power. That's what you're supposed to do with weapons in an RPG, right? Well, not here. The timing of the attacks on the axe was only slightly different, but it was enough to mess up my fights and result in me getting my butt kicked more often despite the higher attack. So I went back to the longsword and stuck with it up until I reached the painted world, when I swapped to a silver knight straight sword. I didn't deviate builds much, but I respect how much variety there is and I can easily see why people replay this game so much to try different builds.

Gwyn's Boss Music - Gwyn might have my favorite final boss music in any game ever. Gwyn was a satisfying fight to end the game, although admittedly he was a bit easy once I got the timing to parry him down.

    Lows

Ornstein and Smough - This was the only point in the game where I seriously considered quitting. I tried fighting these guys solo for weeks. I was able to kill Ornstein relatively consistently, but it would always take a long time and a lot of Estus. I was never able to come up with a good strategy for Super Smough - his attacks have a very wide range and always tore through my health quickly. The fact that even getting to the boss meant having to run by the giant asshole knights in the hallway was also very demoralizing. I ended up swallowing my pride and summoning Solaire, who made the fight significantly easier by distracting Smough the whole time. They are the only boss in the game that I needed to use a summon to beat. But you know what? I'll take that over quitting the game entirely.

Bed of Chaos - As much as I dislike Ornstein and Smough, I can see what the devs were going for and why others might like that fight. The Bed of Chaos fight just sucks. I lost count of how many times those damn hands knocked me into a pit while I was trying to make that jump.

Bonfire Locations - I don't like how bonfires are placed so far from fog doors. It has the same feeling as an unskippable cutscene before a boss fight. Running back to bosses is not interesting gameplay wise and it just gets in the way of what you really want to do.

Firekeeper Soul Item Description - Here was my thought process the first time I picked up a firekeeper soul: "Ooh, what does this item do? The description says 'Use this item to upgrade your Estus'. That sounds great! Let me just go ahead and 'Use Item' and ... huh? My Estus doesn't look upgraded." I had played the game blind up to this point, but afterwards I started looking things up in a guide before using items. If the game is going to actively give me bad information I feel no shame in relying on a guide.

Hidden Locations - I'm honestly not sure how anyone is supposed to find the entrance of the DLC on their own. I would have missed out on some of the best bosses in the game if I hadn't looked it up. Ash Lake, one of the most beautiful areas in the game, is also very well hidden. I don't mind illusory walls or hidden items in general, but I think there's a bit too much locked away in obscurity.

    Random Thoughts

Overall - This game absolutely deserves its status as a modern classic and I'm glad I played it. I don't feel the need to replay it immediately but in a few years I could see myself starting a new character to try out a different weapon type.

Favorite Boss - Artorias. This guy was tough, but it was the enjoyable kind of tough. Figuring out his moveset and timings was fun. I felt like I was in an old-school knight duel since we both used swords. He was the most satisfying boss to beat.

Hardest Boss Besides O&S - Manus. This guy is an aggressive asshole. I was only able to beat him after watching a video and realizing that the silver pendant is super important to this fight.

Hardest Boss That Others Think Is Easy - Gaping Dragon. Most people seem to think this fight is easy but it took me quite a few tries. When I beat him I had used all of my estus and was down to the last 10% of my health. Very intense!

Easiest Boss That Others Think Is Hard - Four Kings. The hardest part of this boss for me was finding the hitbox. I needed to get right up on them to land any hits. To be fair my character had pretty high DPS so I think my build just happened to counter them.

What NPC in the game do you think has the best chance of being the chosen undead?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 12:15 PM PDT

Out of everyone you interact with in ds1 bosses, npc's, anyone, who in your opinion has the best chance of claiming the Lord vessel, filling it, and defeating Gwyn?

Rules: 1 only equiped with items that make sense such as, Havel hates magic so he would not use spells, Logan is not also secretly a pyromancer, things like that. 2 However they are max leveled to soft caps in all reasonable skills and have all available spells or miracles and such 3 if their gear can be upgraded it is naked out just as the chosen undead would be 4 for any given boss battle they may summon ONLY NPC that you can summon, which means Solair of Astora cannot summon himself for the gargoyle but he can summon Knight Laurtec and the whitch Beatrice cannot summon anyone for the 4 kings

With these rules who has the best chance of bringing down Gwyn? My bet goes to Seigmeyer of Catarina because he weilds ZWEIsy-mode and has enough poise to tank his and 2HR2 stunlock everyone

Edit Seigmeyer is a Hardy fighter but after considering it he is not my pick, I change my mind to say Havel the Rock

Edit 2 I'm actively playing a paladin leeroy build and I really think he could do it, haven't got to Gwyn yet though so we'll see

After getting lucky with BKGS again, I decided to grind myself a good Fashion Souls/Utility/Stats/Level combo!

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 12:42 PM PDT

I recently started my replay of Remastered, and once again, like my first (and only) playthrough of Prepare to Die, I got lucky and got the Black Knight Greatsword at the start again!

And so, once again, I decided to go for my fast roll two-handing GS build I've used for all Dark Souls games! And now I finished grinding the levels (in Darkroot garden) to have enough levels for the equip load required for my Fashion Souls + Utility + Stats + Level combo! I have yet only ringed the first Undead Parish bell, and also killed the garden butterfly, so there's still a lot to progress through.

    Here's my progress now: https://imgur.com/a/QKpYB3V

Maybe I'm ready to hit the Catacombs and Pinwheel now. :)

Any suggestions what to level next? More strength towards 66, or should I up my vitality a bit before that?

It's Quelaag's Furysword. I started as a wanderer with the master key and struggled my way through sens with a Scimitar, which i got to plus 10 at Sens. When i got to anal rodeo, i was so excited. I had decided on the Furysword when i was thinking of good dex weapons. When i got the sword, it was a spectacle. It cleaved through O&S. I have found the build for me.

What areas are just not fun?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 06:09 PM PDT

We all have those places we hate and run through them just to get to the next area. Playing 360 version of Dark Souls today and got to Blighttown. Holy shit that place is a dumpster fire. Not only is it infested with toxic dart spitting assholes, a boring dark maze of wooden platforms at the top, and a poison ocean at the bottom, it drops framerate to maddening levels throughout the whole area. Eventually I said screw it to a few items because I was tired of getting poisoned.

Others I can't wait to get through are Black Gulch, The Gutter, and Shaded Woods from Dark Souls 2. And Farron Keep and Smouldering Lake from DS3.
